Practice session in a box. Coolest thing I've seen come out in a while. Good job Digitech!
keep watching this over and over.. Great musical progressions.. they are stuck in my brain.. keep thinking of cool lyrics to go along with these parts.. Thanks to Mark Cooper for presenting this awesome demo!
This seems pretty sweet for quick jams at home alone. As a guitar player, plugging in the drum machine then trying to come up with a decent bass line usually takes more time than its worth. Nicely done Digitech, think I'll start saving up my change for one of these.
Nice demo Mark! I love the Trio! Great teaching and gigging tool...
Totally aussum pedal. Can't wait to get one
I think this looks great. I don't have anything like as much time to get out and jam with a band as I would like these days and my playing is suffering because of that. Just having this and a looper to set up a quick practice session when you come up with a new riff or a nice chord progression and change it up until you're happy with it is going to be awesome.
Wow..this is indeed a great product!
Oh!
Cool I like this. I might have to try one.
Great sales presentation
Whats with this guys shoes?
I was thinking the same thing!
I've seen people like nurses wear those. Supposed to be good for people on their feet a lot I guess.
I know I'm suppose to be listening to the demo....but I'm totally distracted by the shoes!!
they're usually for people that have had a procedure like a hip or knee replacement and need shoes that are as low impact as possible
They're great for stomping on pedals.
daaaaamn this is freakin' amazing :) i'm definitely gonna get one
this and a ditto looper would be perfect for working out song ideals. it does not need to be perfect or even what you end up with just a tool sending you in a direction.
This should've really won best in show. I haven't been this excited for a pedal in a long time when I found out about it.
It did win best in show! There are 5 best in show awards - each panel member picks their favourite thing, which is why you've probably seen something else as best in show.
CaptAnderton Ahh, that would explain it. I'm curious, Captain, if you were on that panel, which product would've been your best in show?
I was on the panel! There were 4 categories (best overall, best accessory, "got to have it", and best new company. I voted for the Dunlop mini wah, the G7th Capo, the Ibanez mini tube screamer and Hotone pedals.
CaptAnderton I see a theme with your picks, Lee. Personally, I'm a fan of innovation, and the push away from traditionalism and the beaten path in music. Something as simple as the Zildjian spiral stackers makes me happy. On a side note, you had a chance to play around with the Deco yet?
IndicacannaJones I am 10 so you would expect me to like all the crazy new gadgets but I just like my PRS going into a Jim Dunlop Kirk hammet wah going intp my Marshall dsl combo and that's the way I like so that just proves that everybody's different
Amazing, Fantastic, the Trio,. So much to learn and explore,. I have been looking for a Bsss player and Drummer for years. Finally found the worlds best! Can't believe how much fun this is.
BRAVO!! Those shoes stole the show..LOL
after it learns all three parts of a song, would it adjust to your playing the entire song automatically? can this song pattern be saved to play later at another time, or one would have to repeat the learning process again for the same song?
thanks
Look at the heals on that guy's shoes, wow!
This is for guys who will use it at home. You could sit in the corner of the local pub on a monday and do a little solo thing, but 99.9% of these will be purchased by people who use them at home to practice or just for fun. And theres nothing wrong with that.
Chris Mann
You've nailed my use of it, and fun it is too.
Band In A Box and a laptop is a far, far better way to do a solo gig. It also happens to be a better practice tool.
I am a new user of the Digitech Trio Plus w/ the additional 3 button footswitch. I want to use my pedal in live performances. How do I sustain bass and drums at the end of a song? or How do I create bass and drum tag endings as is typical in rock and country songs. I don't like to have the bass and drum loop drop out completely on the last note of the last measure of the outro.
What is that foot switch u keep step on for? Not the digitech trio but the other foot switch with 3 switch.
Awesome ..
But does it djent?
Looking forward to your review with chappers
Where can I get a pair of those funky shoes?
Does the Trio+ have higher quality samples?
cool !
I've got the BeatBuddy, you can have the songs in memory on the SD. I don't see anything like that on the demos of the Digitech Trio, it looks like it has to learn the song every time... If there is no possibility to keep the songs created in memory and that you must for the gig on stage teach the pedal every time, then not for me ...
Actually , it's like Band In A Box, but options "theme" and "solo" are missing , and to keep the songs in memory too !!! When this will be avalable I'll by me a Trio !!!
when i get mine Im going to run it into a separate amp (bass one) and a mxr micro amp pedal in-between them to add a light overdrive- coz I love dirty drums
Can this be plugged into a computer to record backing bass and drum tracks that I can save to my ipod and use for solo gigs as backing tracks?
No but thank god. It would sound awful. This is a great practice or creative tool but if I heard anyone using it live I think I'd turn off the electricity. If I were you I'd get a digitech jam man stereo loop pedal. Use SD storage function to load those backing tracks direct out to a pa and you play/sing over the top
Hi Lee, this pedal sounds fine to me, does what it's supposed to do, play along drums and bass with guitar in a variety of genres, styles and tempos.
The demo you did with Chappers didn't do this pedal justice, cheers.
What are the name of those shoes so cool!!!
Live at the Forum tomarrow night,,, haha. Comes out with just this pedal. hah.
I like this pedal. I hope the Digitech can make a software version of this device.
WHOOOAAAHHHH! Wait! What's going on with those shoes?
Which Trio pedal is this
Someone please tell me about his shoes!!! HIS SHOES!!! WTF?
only reason I am reading the comments.
dem shoes is epic
What about if I just want too play lead soloing notes? Without thinking 💭 about it ? 😨
what's with the shoes?
Ah crap looks like I'm out of a job?! Hahaha
หมอลำสักเพลงครับ
How do I save songs
Sure it's cool but does it have use?
THE SHOES!!!
Does it function as usual looper, when it records and then playbacks everything what i play?
***** No it doesn't record/save your progressions yet I'm sure that that is down the road. I knew that it has the 3 parts, but that isn't really helpful for a solo gig. It would take too much time and distraction between songs to use it for anything more than the songs that have the same chord pattern throughout. Those songs would be easy enough to pick style and type, arm the peddle, put down the pattern and click again so the rhythm kicks in and then go into the song.
I didn't bother talking much about the three parts in my earlier posts because I was addressing how it could be used live as it is now, and the three parts would not be helpful live unless one were to set them up at home then record it like a song file exactly as you would play each song live. You could make cheap backing tracks that way in the key you like but obviously with no flexibility to change things during the song live. Could still be good though.
Digitech really could of added a few more features with this pedal. Choice of different Drum Kits and Bass with reverb, thou you could add this in the mix. SD Card to save your song settings (parts 1,2 and 3) and a LCD screen to select your songs from the SD Card and add some effects from the RP360 for good measure or alternatively install the Trio features into the new RP360 ? now that would be ground breaking.
Brilliant product!
Looks like you can use a footswitch with it. I wonder if you can also use the footswitch to mute bass or drums at any time.
*****
The footswitch controls teaching/start/stop, style and which of the three parts is active only.
If this is the basic unit in the Trio range, then hopefully the 'Trio Stereo' will introduce that + being able to switch the guitar effects on the fly'd be good too.
Now if only it would create the part for the first person ... I could sell my guitars and amps and just sit back and listen to my stuff that IT automatically came up with. :)
I wonder if it can create a hit ... After all, a few years back, FLY ROBYN FLY ... was song of the year .. :)
They're selling pre-order now for $179 in the USA. Yes it has USB function AND updates. The extra pedal he keeps stepping on is an on the fly optional pedal for saved patterns & going between learn & play mode. I was lucky enough to get to Beta test one & it's awesome. Will it replace a live four piece/ NO DUH!! It's not meant to do that but it IS an extra option for small solo acts. Bass & drums can be turned up & down 0-10 so IF you know what your doing you can record to 3 separate tracks on a console. It has TWO separate dedicated outputs for amp AND mixer/recording console. It is 1st gen so it will have the normal bugs but it AIN't gonna go away. It's gonna give the OTHER new drum pedal coming out a lot of headaches over versatility & bang for the buck. Not as boring & restricting as a looper. For live performance efficiency one will have to do their HOMEWORK 1st & granted most musicians want the glory without the sweat. (just saying) Evidently we're ALL guitar Gods. LOL. This pedal MAY go away. The principle WILL NOT............anymore than karoake did. I was lucky enough to have a connection to be able to Beta test one. Is it a useful TOOL?? ABSOLUTELY. Will it make one more of a superstar than they already THINK they are??.....Well what do YOU think,.... :( ♪♫♪♫
"If only my drummer could do this"
"My bass player can't even do that"
Sounds like you need a better band.
Just got mine on ebay for $99. I've never been so excited about a pedal. I'm going to use it to make song demos.
You should check out the Miku pedal. You will be amazed!
***@ITellUStraiight*** Dude! Clearly this is FIRST generation, but it will be very easy to use at a small room gig, (for the guy that usually only sings and plays guitar) for all those songs that are strictly the same chord pattern throughout the whole song, like "Save Tonight" or "Last Kiss". Those songs will be very easy to set up and start playing with not much fiddling to do other than knowing and quickly setting the genre and style for each song (which you should have figured out and taken note of while practicing with the pedal before hand). It should literally take 5 seconds to set up for each song you use it for IF you are prepared.
You can also "pre-program" verse, chorus and bridge for a single song but that takes a little while to do and there is no way to save it yet, so that will not be practical in a gig situation for the more complicated songs. No, it's not ready for a WHOLE night yet but you can spice up those easy songs if you sprinkle them into your sets. So if anything, it can make your show a little more exciting and less same-sounding to your audience by adding some drums and bass occasionally.
They have got this pedal at a pretty easy entry level price for any working musician so I will bet that they are already working on a second tier pedal for the future where will be able to save your settings to a memory card and set list them for the songs where the chord patterns are different for the verse, chorus and bridge.
I think this is an affordable pedal for people who want to jam alone and maybe even quickly record some simple demos at home. for that matter you could probable make easy custom backing tracks at home for the busier songs. But you can also find use on a solo gig for some songs if you are smart about it. I have no doubt that this is just the beginning of a pedal line that will prove to be a game changer. I don't see how anyone can look at the videos you can already find on UA-cam for this pedal and not be completely impressed. Especially at what the price will likely be. I think I heard under $300 in Canada and maybe even under $200 in the US, That's just what I heard, I DO NOT know for sure, and I DO NOT work for Digitech. But I DO see the amazing promise in this pedal for the solo cat.
Garrick, 2 things, thanks for taking the time to post such a comprehensive reply and also for not personally 'having a go' at me for having an opinion. You see I worry that technology is killing off live bands (yes that has always been a worry). Im guessing that these little boxes will be gathering dust on shelves in a years time with people not being able to sell them on Ebay becuase they truely don't replace a good live bassist and drummer which I felt that they were marketed to do. Again, it's my opinion and nothing against the cool demonstrator guy who I probably should know (yeah Mark with a 'C' he said). If they are an aid to composing thats cool but that's a different pedal and should be cheaper. Enough already I will check out the reviews and I'm tough enough to be wrong!.. and your channel is good BTW.
ITellUStraight Personally I don't think they are really marketing it as a replacement for real drummers and bass. Perhaps Marc was just being a little over-enthusiastic demo-ing the pedal at NAMM with his comments. In a larger club this could never replace a real band. It's for making it more fun to practice by yourself at home and to add a little energy for the "single acts" playing in small bars/pubs where a full band would a) be too expensive b) never fit c) be too loud or it's a non-weekend night when a full band is too pricey. The biggest problem with drums in small venues is controlling the sound. The single act is usually not taking gigs from full bands.
The problem with many bar owners in bigger places is that they always want to know how big a crowd YOU can bring in, which is totally the wrong approach. They should be concentrating on making their place the fun place to be where their customers will know they can always see good entertainment. They don't seem to realize that even our friends don't want to see us every weekend. I recently moved to a small town so I only play once in a while now when I feel like it, more for fun than anything. But I want that Trio pedal and maybe a BeatBuddy too.
I believe there will always be a need for live music and especially full bands. DJs have cut into that market in a lot of bars but many people will still want to go see live music. Things go in cycles, they always do. Thanks for the compliment, I need to start doing more on my channel, I have/had a lot of plans of doing lots of covers but been busy with other things the past few years. If I get a Trio when they come out I will have to do some songs on here.
Band In A Box, dude. I haven't checked BIAB 2017 or 2018 (and they didn't yet exist when you posted), but 2016 will use VST instruments directly, without having to go through a MIDI loopback "driver". Also, many styles have matching RealDrums tracks, which sound far better than this because actual drummers made the samples the program stitches together -- or in the case of salsa and some other styles, an entire percussion section performs them. If you don't like the way a particular section is performed, you can alter any part in "piano roll mode" just like you would in a DAW. You can change styles mid-song. You can change time signature mid-song, repeatedly if you wish to "prog out". You can have the drums play in one style while the bass plays in another. You also get piano and guitar tracks. It can even "improvise" solos, but the realism of those is somewhat lacking. It counts you into songs with a temporary click track. Finally, you can export this all to MIDI files for repeated use.
Examples -- core made in Band In A Box, exported to Cubase, and cleaned up -- the melodies and solos are a combination of what BIAB suggested, and what I decided to do myself.
Punk-ish: mal-2.bandcamp.com/track/shawty-girls
Bossa nova: mal-2.bandcamp.com/track/siga-a-carioca
Pop ballad: mal-2.bandcamp.com/track/labrat-love
Salsa: mal-2.bandcamp.com/track/luz-de-cielo
BIAB has been around for over 25 years now, and it has gotten incrementally better the entire time. I wouldn't recommend upgrading annually, as it is NOT cheap, but it's probably worth it to pay for an upgrade every four or five years. It's the third most important piece of software I own for music production. My DAW and my notation software rank higher.
Anybody have and idea what guitar he is playing?
James Elemeth Brian Moore. That's his signature guitar. It's a lot of $$$ but check out reverb. Lots of mint used custom shops. Sadly, not enough people know about this guitar. They're great. Curved for comfort. Beautiful tops, Seymour Duncan's, slick neck for fast comfortable playing. They're truly great. I have 4.
What guitar is that?, cool demo !!!!!!!!!
Brian Moore
benfordguitars
Thanks for that ,its $4495 usd , nice guitar signature model.
She will be mine. Oh yes...she will be mine.
If I am playing a song in the key of D for example, and I start playing a different progression in the same key, will it follow the new chord changes?
+Vladimir Medvedev For what I've seen in other demos you can make a 3 part song but the pedal has to learn the parts beforehand...
Yes, this pedal is for home recording and making music, good tool though. I hope some day they make one that plays along, but that will be impossible.
+Vladimir Medvedev I wouldn't say impossible, some voice boxes can catch your progression and put the supporting lines to it. I imagine it can't be that far from what it does already but with some improvements to processing and without having to step on the pedal.
They are probably working on one, I have a voice harmonizer that I can get 1/3, 1/5 above or below, and 2 part harmony too, I love it, I don't like my own voice, it sucks, but this pedal make miracles, some people have told me that I sound great, but that's just how good the pedal is. I don't consider myself a singer, so I'll keep my eyes open for one that'll make me a one man band.
+Vladimir Medvedev That's awesome man, I've seen videos about these harmonizers as well. Must be great for playing live!
Has he got springs on his heels?
Nice shoes....
i can't wait!!! will be such a nice inspirational tool in songwriting. i do wish their overpriced extension pedal had a way to turn on guitar fx without having to bend down and hit it by hand. also, a built in looper was needed but i suspect that will be for a future release to get more money from u
Logistically, can this be done live? You don't want to mess around "teaching" the tool while performing live.
Like it. Gig bag and other junk piled against the PA adds bar room realism :-)
shoes !!! all i could see...
And then he tops them off with 99p fake nike socks
really the shoes/??
the CAP!!!!!!!! WHATS UP WITH THAT GUYS SHOES!!
WHATS THE NAME OF THE SONG?
All I see is the sped shoes.....
Pretty cool pedal, but all of the backing tracks sound so typical, bleck
Just got this pedal in. check out my testing video for this pedal.
What are those shoes he's wearing?
shoes for the feet.
Ha! "If I could just get me drummer to do that in real time, that would be awesome."
nice sneakers :D
Cool pedal. MSRP? I wish the demonstrator didn't oversell it so badly. That and wore normal shoes.
Andertons have got this up for £189 but in dollars its$179 ? Not fair, I know andertons aren't to blame, but fuck it, I'll just use my looper for that money
It's a great pedal but why don't they just include your original guitar in the mix. It could be the quartet. That way you'd have the choice to use it or not. You could use a looper with it but that's a pain.
the shoes...
Captain, will you do us a favor.......... when you get one of these for the store, lets Chappers run some real rock and roll with it........ not a jazz or blues player here...... would like to hear it with some power music and a good musician working this machine...... thanks.
Interesting how much there going to lift you for? The beat buddy sounds better, but I think it's overpriced, this is clunky and sounds like it couldn't swing if it was hanging, but it's a cool practise, writting tool. Get em in lee and I'll buy one
Sounds a bit clunky, but I want one,
its basically style mode,in a Yamaha keyboard, omg lol
Dem shoes have got no soul👍
wtf are his shoes
I'm only 5' 6" tall and scored a basketball scholarship with these shoes.....and then the NBA went and banned them!
I can no longer dunk....basset-ball dreams done faded away.....
Nope,he's got em on BOTH feet. May be a blonde thing BUT the dude can play his butt off & the pedal is really cool.
what the hell kind of shoes is dude wearing? very strange
I cant hear a word this guys saying..
sounds like an old casio keyboard
warning, people here are really into shoes, haha!
Those shoes are Z-coils...
This may be great for "patterns" and genre playing, but it obviously wouldn't serve as a sketch pad type of pedal for originals. "It's hilarious how much it hits that genre very well "??? Those shoes...... can be yours for a few Frosted Flakes proof of purchase seals. You also get a decoder ring and a Dick Tracy telewatch. HAHAHA ! !
I thought mark was a statue!!!
What's with his shoes?!?! #openmouth #wtf
seems like u got to keep messing around with buttons an dials,, an usin your feet a lot,,
Sorry to you all who rate this - yes its clever and I respect Digitech but ...the demonstrator 'Mark' says "Ive also done solo gigs with it" .. wouldn't mind seeing that!! its about as much use live as a backing track on a tape. "try to get my drummer or bass player to do that" he says.. well in a live show, Mark.. try to be on your own on stage and fiddle around with a floor pedal and twiddle knobs and change tempo without boring the shit out of an audience... sorry but you are trying to sell this unit for something other than what it can be used for. Yeah agree about the shoes.
First off it's Marc not Mark. Second,I can imagine him playing gigs with it.Of course you wouldn't be fiddling around on stage. You would work it all out before hand.
kingstumble
yeah it's a fun toy to have at home but until I see a live gig with this in use, I'm not convinced that the bass player and drummer is redundant, however good this Mark guy is!! You may have your opinion ... yeah you probably do.. lol.
ITellUStraight I made a mistake and posted a reply to you in a post just above yours instead of a direct reply, look at it if you wish. Have a good one.
I can see myself playing the whole progression one time by myself then hitting the button and soloing to that progression for as long as I want. I think it will work brilliantly like that.
you can construct your songs easily with a laptop and leave the pedal and use the laptop with its recordings live
WTF is going on with that guy's shoes?
Those shoes are distracting. That's what we call a footwear malfunction.
the shoes are for his instep and problems with the hell, worked on cement for 30 years mostly worn by the women ,but a lot of men use them as well
No Latin jazz... What's the problem with folks now of days. everything they built has everything except Latin Genre in it! not cool!
I just gut-shot my rhythm dept.
Replace this demonstrator guy. He's not sure what he's doing. Hurts the product so much.
Love the pedal, not a huge fan of this guys playing.
I'm sorry but I'm just no impressed. Maybe it's good, but it seems like it's pretty generic to me.. :-) I'm old though and stubborn about these things. :-)
