Mastering Engineers are wizards ! I totally dig all the technical stuff you showed. Unfortunately those plug-ins are some of the few I actually don't have (dangit) But I used the Bx Masterdesk and I hope it came out alright...I looked for that roundtrip thingy too, that is cool ! Anyway, thanks again Maestro, look forward to the next installment. Are you now taking requests ? Hmmmm....
Nice tech pov on mastering for SC. To my ears the mid range sounds a bit muddy. Seems like the guitars and background vocals are all in the middle. It's mudding up the lead vocal. Maybe that was at the mix stage. Panning that guitar to the L or R and spreading the BK vocals a little more would help. There's a very minimal stereo sound stage. Really sounds mono in my DT990's. Like a true 70's - 60's mono vibe - if thats the vibe then it's cool. Made a nice difference with the BAX- my fave. An Ampex-ATR 102 would make a big difference over all. Neve or API extension with a Lo boost and a crank in the saturation may give it a bit more life. Just my unqualified 2 cents. I love Luna with the UAD's! Changed my audio life!
That was a great episode! Just wondering what monitors you are using to hear all the detail. I've got LSR 6328p with a sub but do not hear those slight 0.5db adjustments. Thx!
I have a few different monitors. I have a set of Genelec 80 series (don't remember which model off the top of my head) that are great for super high detail, but not much else. They aren't fun to mix on for more than about 30 minutes. My preferred monitors are a much cheaper JBL LSR set - they're not big, they may be the 5-inch woofer - but they are non-fatiguing, and are pretty easy to work with. It probably comes down to just knowing them extremely well.
Thanks for this man!!!
You are so cool :-) I’m
Very grateful that you made this video so I can learn how to upload to SoundCloud :-) thanks
Genial!

Why would you assume they don't want the count in/end??? They would have cut that themselves if that was the case.
