    I found you last night while wandering the void. Glad I did. This vid gave me all kinds of helpfor a tune I"m working on. I don't have the gear you have, obviously (I'm using Studio One basic set up, no UA), but your tips are gold. Your drum taming and bass control through compression was just what I was looking for. That clean chorus tone is sick as well. Thank you for the help and much respect from the Bay Area.

    Luna is sic I’ve been using it since it’s release the sound quality is unreal do we need another daw hmmmm ? NEVE SUMMING IS ALL I WILL SAY .Luna is heads and shoulders above the rest as far as sound production, the quirks have to still be worked out ,but plugins and layout and ability to sound organic and full is unmatched. Your killing it Pete !

    For me, the Studer Tape emulator made the mix sound less cluttered. Despite being softer sounding, each instrument became more defined. That was mind blowing! The Ocean Wave was a great effect too.

      The toontrack software makes it really simple to tap in a general idea of the feel you want and then it scans it's library for patterns similar to what you've played. You can grab any of those you want, edit them, mix and match. It's pretty easy unless your pattern idea is just a unique beast, which happens sometimes when you're trying to duplicate certain real drummer recordings.

    Pete really enjoyed this video. I appreciate how you shared your recording workflow with the LUNA DAW. It looks like a very nice graphic interface especially for guitarists. One of my biggest struggles as a singer/player is developing a DAW workflow that simplifies getting to that creative point. It'll be interesting to watch how this develops - UA are being very clever by giving away a full DAW if you buy one of their interfaces, but does the user want to be locked in to the UA platform? It's a shame there's no Windows version, otherwise it would tempt me enough to go with UA when I next upgrade my interface just to experience Luna. I question whether the market needs, or will support, another DAW, as the ProTools/Logic/Cubase thing is so widespread, and "knowing" your DAW means speed of operation, which is valuable to a professional user. Great demo as always!

      In case you don't get a response…he was on a UA video yesterday and said he started out with finding the beginning guitar sound through the Boss pedal and figured out what musical idea he wanted to develop, played a bit of that into the box, and then figured out what sort of beat would work. Once the drums were fleshed out a bit he re-recorded the main idea and filled in the parts. Obviously he wanted to show a different side to the pedal midway through, so he restarted the process with a different drum and bass sound. For a demo it works really well!

    Pete - thanks again bro this was very cool indeed. I am new to Logic Pro and cannot for the life of me get the sound to export with the files I am exporting. Using Garage band - zero issues. Keeping this note and ask minimal - since Garage band is stripped down to Logic I am baffled as to what steps I am missing to export the file as mixed, with sound, to enable a final master overall. Then have that master file contain the sound. If only I had access to someone with knowledge of this fix. Trying many many UA-cam help and Apple, I feel like my new Mac Desk Top is missing a setting or the Logic steps to do this seemingly simple thing needs to be done. Lost.... Any help?

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  4 роки тому +2

      Well you don’t want to pick an export option you want to pick bounce, I don’t have logic in front of me but I believe it’s right below the option to export. Exporting is for individual tracks bounce is for a full mix.

    • @sgwink
      @sgwink 4 роки тому

      @@PeteThorn Yes thank you. The reply is much appreciated. I stand corrected as using the export is the right option however that option leaves me with that result of no sound in the file. I believe I am either not selecting a parameter, have a mute option on or my new Mac desk top has a setting to allow it. All updates are solid and in place. Again I can use garage band with zero issues so the interface works fine as well.
      I am going to uninstall Logic and reinstall then try again. Hi-jacked your awesome thread. I have even had Apple support tell me it should work if I follow the steps without any luck.
      Thanks again - long time and avid fan bro.

    Hi Pete, do you need a UA Audio Interface to use Luna or can you just buy the DAW on its own? I use my Axe-Fx III as my interface so don't need a UA one at the moment.
    Great tune Pete, thanks for showing us how you do it. Even with digital gear you are the Demo king haha

      You need an interface to use it (it's free with a UA interface).

      Mark Pritchard some of the things he is using here though are paid addons for Luna. The Neve summing is an additional cost. There are a few people that have been complaining about the price of it at 300$ but they don’t seem to put into perspective that it can be used on however many tracks you are running, the alternative is a real Neve console for $50K+, so to have it on as many tracks as you want, or your system will handle, really isn’t that bad.
      The only thing I’ve found so far that I will have to adjust to is that it is NOT compatible with VST, AU only. For me it isn’t a huge problem because I am currently switching my studio to Mac with the original intent of giving Logic an honest try but I think I’ll be happy to go the Luna path considering the integration with my UAD hardware
