I'll say it again and again...that drummer is so gd good and so gd underrated. His hi hat work is phenomenal.
Completely agree, the whole percussion unit is remarkable. Subtle and refined.
Yup. Some tough stuff
Everyone in this band is genius. And don't forget the twins and those horns!
if i am your your father i drop dead do you what s national new and micheal chong have done in the past 4 yrs if not go drop dead no one would drop a tear for you
Same goes for the drummer of Broken Social Scene
Can’t get enough of this band. Just discovered them. Would love to seem them live. Greetings from The Netherlands!
Do yourself a favor and see them live. Also, Arcade Fire.
Sometimes I don’t listen to The National for a while….then I see this and get a glorious jaw dropping reminder of just how f’ing good they are
you are so correct !
Fair comment.

Thank you !
You're a 100% FAN.
Beautiful, brilliant, and moving. Another great performance by the National. Such a treat 🙌🏽
Bryan Devendorf is such a wonderful drummer.
This is the best live concert the National have ever recorded. We are incredibly lucky to have it (for free no less). Ive played this concert 65 times in the last 3 weeks. It is a banger start to finish.
Authenticity. Realism. Beauty, Love. Who else delivers like this?
The National?!? Unbelievably unknown to me until two weeks ago... I've played this concert dozens in the past few days!! Love the drumms, the guitar and that trombone!! What a wonderfull sounds composition!! It washes my soul and lets me in tears!!
Just discovered this band myself. Absolutely brilliant, the music and the text.
Welcome to the world of the Sad Dads.
@@SchottBiology 🤣🤣
me too - BloodBuzz caught my ear and the rest is very near -
This old gal, 66, first heard this band about 5 years ago on my fav radio station out of Long Island. Loved their music. Wasn't really paying attention to who they were, just knew it was them as soon as I heard the lead singer.....Fast forward, husband and I've been on a CD ordering binge, drinking wine and having "The National" night concerts! Good music, great lyrics speak to all of us regardless of age!!!
Blood Buzz Ohio is one of my favorite songs of all time... It hits every chord in my heart.
Ambrosia for the soul.
Outstanding..
What else would you expect from The National....11 on 10.
I would buy the shit out of this if it was made into a live album. Thank you, gentlemen, for putting this out for us. It's incredible.
They sent it out to fan club members as a double disc vinyl.
I keep coming back. TY so much for sharing this experience with us
This is the coolest band , I love it when the Horns come out. a lot of talent here.
The way so many of their songs begin with a gentle, mesmerizing sound and then build to a crescendo, a cacophony if you will, and then back again is just amazing. I've seen them maybe 4 times, and will certainly see them again. Just a super live band, all fantastic musicians.
the best of the indie generation, and free on u tube!!
Please make this a live album!!!
Brazil misses u!
(and Terrible Love gets me everytime)
Excellent show! For me the best band in the world.
Please release a live version of first two pages of frankenstein!
Beautiful to see, that music still has the magic gift, to make you feel the happiest person on this almost fucked up planet. Cheers to the dude in the white shirt.
Meine Güte ist das ein geiler Scheiß! Ich kenne wirklich nur wenige Bands, die mich so berühren wie ihr es immer wieder schafft. Respekt und Love
I was lucky enough to see them a few days ago at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, BC. One of the best concerts I’ve seen in a wonderful setting with a friendly chill crowd. The National are truly the band of our times, who brilliantly manage to capture the uncertainty we are all living with, without seeming prescriptive or obtuse. There is a ton of great music out there these days, but none of the rest seems as poetic and musically complete as The National.
See them, if you can!
I just ADORE the trumpet
How awesome is this band for releasing this incredible show at now cost? Thanks, guys, killer concert.
No*
its promo for their new album and upcoming tour....but yeah, thanks for the free ad i guess?
@@jonr7364 i wonder if maybe this is the type of thing that Cherry Tree can fund ... like a cool thing they are able to make for the fans, like the ultimate Patreon reward
and at the same time sort of a flex about how good they are live, hint hint gotta come see us on the road

@@chrisboshoff7069 posted a month ago, it's still very "in the now."
Thank you from Australia. That was incredible.
The best Live of All Time for Me !
Thx The National !
Once Apon A Poolside and Eucalyptus both masterpieces from First Two Pages album
“You can stop and start an athlete’s heart” is profoundly perfect
I'm so thankful there's good music out there!
This is my favorite band now. I was so blown away when David Letterman introduced The National at the Stephen Colbert show.
Please release this as a live album. Just phenomenal. Can't wait to see them at Homecoming!
That final part of Tropic Morning News with the two guitars on fire is one of the best things that they've ever done. What a great fucking song
Once Upon A Poolside....what a beautiful song, love the piano...what a perfect song to open with....
What in the world this sounds amazing. They're better than ever.
I love that you film this in black and white (really grayscale); fits the vibe perfectly. I'll see you in Austin!!!!! Can't wait.
What a dream this show?
Simply amazing...
Eucalyptus live is just something else, goosebumps. Please release this live version as an album.
The sound mixing on this is next level. Huge props to Adam Armstrong and all involved.
It's truly incredible. Wish every live mix were like this
The sound is even better than on the last record. Clearly more rousing, one is drawn into the music. Sitting still impossible.
Let's hope this will be released on CD!!!
Awesome, guys, you are ever better than before!!!
Can't explain how much I love this band 🖤🤍🖤
Also can't stop listening to Ice Machines🙃
Much love from Portugal ❤
Muito Muito Muito mesmo....
I enjoyed listening 🎶 to the music. Tears of joy. ❤Beautiful! I must admit my first time listening to the band. Guess I'm an old souI, listen to old music. I prefer music then to watch TV. I heard something driving home and decided to Google. I'm glad I did. All of the musicians are great!❤
I discovered the band in July 2022. They came to Lisbon for Rock In Rio 2023. I watched the concerts live on TV. I was waiting to watch the concert of the Muse. Right before, it was The National's concert. I thought "Let's listen to these guys and wait for the Muse", not knowing who the hell were The National. Right on one of the first songs they played (Don't Shallow the Cap) I hugely impressed and touched by the interpretation and sense of giving it all of the vocalist. I was amazed. I was speechless. Since that day, I have listened to all albums and multiple UA-cam live concerts of the band. On 2022 they even came twice to Portugal for 2 concerts, in 2 festivals, in less than 3 months. They are coming to Lisbon this October, and I'm not gonna miss it. I have the tickets! LET'S GOOOO
Thanks for sharing. I am flying from Germany to Lisbon for the show in October because Lisbon is my favorite city in the world and The National! Can't wait.
I'll be there in October, too
Same. October i'll be there!
Not likely they'll visit Connecticut! Have to settle for the CDs
Best thing Ive seen on UA-cam.
Just amazing 😍😍😍 ! "Grease in your Hair" is pure Magic and Bryan makes me speechless with is wonderful drumming
Thank you for existing !
The passion and emotion you pour into your music is truly captivating. You are a true inspiration. Keep shining!
Man, the sound on this is unreal!
This band grows on me every day.
same, dude
yeaaaah. And I grew with them... like Taylor Swift of my own coming of age a decade ago. still so much in love
Thank you VERY MUCH... From BRAZIL!
Ouvir The National é desligar da terra. fantastico
Beautiful, moving music....saw them in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, unforgettable, thank you The National!
When music was created thousands of years ago, it was for the express purpose that songs like Eucalyptus could exist.
The level of craftsmanship of the National is incomparable. I finally get to hear New Order T shirt in great video! ❤❤❤
The National siempre me recordará a mi amada Emy. Gracias por compartir este concierto en el momento justo.
Mis condolencias, gracias por compartir tu historia.
mucho ánimo
Forças amigo
❤
it was perfect, perfect, everything down to the last minute details. ❤
Bryce's guitar "Mind is not your friend"....sublime.
These guys need a live album. This is really good stuff.
I love it soooo much.... Greetings from Germany
Unreal performance for free. That's what's up. Love this band so much. Right up there with Fleet Foxes in terms of loveliness. :)
The twin guitars on Tropic Morning News!
Best yet, simply wonderful!
Thanks for making this gig available for us all to see. Wonderful band. I'm in UK and going to see them tomorrow in Leeds.
Blissfull Show.
All of it.
Thanks
💗💗
Every hair on my body stood on end for Terrible Love. No words.
Watched the National in Perth Australia 2 weeks ago and the show was as good as this. Absolutely spectacular
saw them at the same show (if it was the first night), it was truly perfect!
I have great audio recordings of both Perth shows if you want them
@@Nicole-wd9pd I have great audio recordings of both Perth shows if you want them
A real wonder. Thank you very much, The National, for this concert, these songs (wonderful interpretation, incredible recording).
Most under rated band of all time
Not really, this is boring as hell...the vocals are monotone and it's all the same slow pace
They really are special live. Matt is living the good life by the looks of things though, such a distinctive voice.
Best. Band. Period.
All their songs get so much more intensity and character when played live ! So great this concert is uploaded 😀
A live album would be fantastic. the studio albums sounds so different.
Saw them live for first time in Dublin last night. Am still on a high from it! They give it all live!
Well this has totally convinced me to try and find a ticket to see them in London, UK this fall!
The best live recording of graceless I've heard - and I've been on UA-cam looking for the best ones for near 10 years now. So glad you guys still play that song live!
Holy sh*t that rendition of Terrible Love!!! 😮❤❤❤
The last "hey" on about today, before they explode...are you kidding me? What a real, powerful moment.
I discovered their music only yesterday. Glad about this find. I can't stop listening.
I don't think it's sad. It is beautiful, deep, sensual, fills me with meaning. It's a pity that I don't speak English well enough to understand the full meaning of the songs.
I want to wish the guys a lot of creativity and inspiration!
Thank you for being.❤
Hi Olga, I'm a native English speaker and I don't even understand the songs but I get/feel the pathos/sadness of the music.
Music is a universal language.....if it moves you, you understand it. ☺
To hear The National live simply makes them even better. So good. Eucalyptus live - wow! Graceless - the best! And Light Years I can never get enough. I could go on. Love this band❣️
I put this on my watch later list for when I'd have the time but goddamn I forgot just how good their concerts are and how good it would make me feel, should've watched it sooner!
I am so stoked for the new album!
This version of Graceless is the best I've ever heard. Outstanding.
drummer is a beast... and the whole Band is brilliant....
I've said it many times before. I'll say it one more time... underrated drummer. Love this damn band!
Cant recall the last album i listened to on repeat. Cant get enough of this one. Thanks for this 🙏
the last one for me was 10 years ago. It was Reflektor by Arcade Fire and I spent countless nights listening to it. Now, thanks to The National, the same is happening. These jewels are not easy to find.
New favorite band, they are incredible.
Please please please please come back to France!!!
This is brilliant! Looking so much forward to your gig in Montreux in July 🎶
No bullshit - this might be the best live concert I’ve ever seen and I don’t say that lightly. Amazing energy and the highest quality of musicianship - fearlessly authentic and genuine in every way. Wow.
Check out The Editors. Best concert I’ve been to in years!
Love the live intensity of Eucalyptus. Missed from recorded version. Takes the song to another level.
This is superb, not only gifted to the followers but one of the best live gigs I’ve heard them perform - on top form The National!
Saw them last year with my girlfriend at a Belgium festival, only regret is I didn't took the time to see them earlier! When I'm having a drink I keep listening to the national🤪🥰 still already a fan for over 20 years with a drink and without one 😍
Don't worry mate. They play your way a lot . Just watch for tour dates. I saw them a few times already. First was in 2009 when they were just starting out. Small club, and a great night. Cheers.
Can't wait for my first National concert in Munich this October ! ❤ Eucalyptus already seems like the new Mr. November, although they're playing it early in the setlist
This band IS blessed by melodies
White shirt guy in the front is all of us watching from home 🙌
Thank you so much for this. Sending love from Argentina!
Can I give like 1000 hugs/likes , have been listening to this for 10 times already at least. Hoping to experience their music live in Serbia one day. :)
That sound mix is something special
So important, yet so many live recordings get it wrong.
they should take a recording of this performance and release it as a remastered version of the new album
Powerful and beautiful. Big fan from Brazil.
I must admit the National are intriguing for they have a painfully magical authenticity - those whimsical lyrics are wonderfully observed - the singer has an endearing fragility surrounded by an orchestra of magical musicians who paint a beautiful landscape of sound that resonates perfectly with that lead voice - I want to find out more - They come to my home town in London later in the year so I will go and see them play live.
what u say is brilliant, dude
What is your name and surname?
I want to be friends with you ❤
They are great live. I saw them in Munich last year - though the Zenith location has no great sound.
Still magical - when everyone sings along. Intimate, like in your living room while surrounded by hundreds of people ❤
Wow that was awesome! Can't wait to see them at the Hollywood Bowl in Oct!!
