My first true exposure to The National was the Lallapalooza in Chicago. I had heard songs in passing on the radio as my face was pasted to the grindstone of working and trying to survive. That live performance has seared into my being. I have tried to find it on youtube to re-live it again unsuccessfully. Since then, I have saturated my life with every recording of this band. Some of these songs have merged with me and I will never lose them. Love this band.

I'm just impressed by the sound quality of this performance. Everyone on point. I believe this is an album that is more detail-oriented (hear the two different guitar lines in "Sleep Well Beast" for instance), and you can just grasp that in every song here. I just can't get enough of your music, guys. I am glad all your fans will have the chance to revisit your music every Monday. Los quiero mucho.
Once every few months Scott will grow out his hair and beard and Bryan will completely shave off his, then they switch sunglasses and instruments. And none of us ever notice.
Hi guys I'm from Italy, I saw the show live, waiting for it impatiently, simply amazing as always. I love you, you are my long time soundtrack. Fantastic version of "Sleep Well Beast". Thanks you ALL for the unexpected gift. When in Italy again? I love you.

Have you guys really been sitting on this one for three years??? My God the sleep well beast tour was incredible, so glad I got to see two shows that year
I'm 'stuck' on the paradise Cambodian island of Koh Rong Saloem. England seems so very, very far away. I just wanted to comment on how much I love this. The Sad Lads; they have helped rein in myself; they've helped me remember what's important to me in the world I once knew and the one I will one day, be able to return to. Nobody Else Will Be There. And yet, everybody, will be. 🙏❤
Thank you for this. Thank you so much. You have been a major part of my adult life for many many years, your music seriously shaped me as a person. There are not many musicians who are able to do this. It takes someone special, like you... Love you endlessly and forever.
Must admit, that when I first saw the title "Dark Side of the Gym," I was expecting some fitness related sleaze or internal gym politics, maybe even a bit of angst about struggling to maintain a fitness regime and body image. Was really confused when it was a really sweet delicate song. So Matt contextualising that 'its about a Prom date' is funny to me and helpful.
This is terrific, and they so master the environment and space. But, oh, the people with cell phones...a once-in-a-lifetime experience...to experience later. I'll never understand it.
Rick Martínez And after you see this one keep looking for more songs or concerts from them. I went to one of their concerts for first time at Ogden last year and I was amazed how it was possible not to discover them until I was 47!
I don`t know if anybody noticed, but Carin at the Liquor Store is the footage for the actual Official Video! I turned on negative screen mode a couple of years ago on it and BAM!
I've always wondered whether Kyle and Benjamin are counted as members of The National. They've played with the band for years, but sometimes seem to be considered band members, and sometimes sidemen. Here, for example, they're listed with the band, yet Scott Devendorf says, "There are five of us." Not seven. I'm guessing they come in after the original five have the song in shape, and add things - but how much do they come up with their own parts, and how much do the others tell them what to play, or write out horn lines, or tell them, "Don't do anything here, just lay out"?
The 5 are those that write the material and are part of the decision making process for each album. K and B are part of the band in every sense of the word, except for this part. I’m sure if Scott had the chance, he would backtrack on that statement and when discussing the “machine” that is The National it’s actually a much, MUCH larger number ❤️
I love you guys so, so much. I got to see you in Asheville NC and can not believe it was not sold out. It's probably why yall didnt come back. I had started listening to Frightened Rabbit because they were your opening act and subsequently fell in love with them too. During the break, I wandered out to the steps behind the Diane Wortham. Scott and his brother where standing outside the back door sweating and I walked right up and said hello. I got a selfie and I cant even stand what happen a couple years ago, but I thank you so much. When Matt walked into the crowd to sing Mr November he stopped in my row, and collapsed on the floor, mic in hand right fucking next to me. I may have have embarrassed myself, but I think I sang the loudest when you closed with geese. I'm sorry. I love you guys.
"Tonight we will be sharing a previously unseen film as part of our weekly series of Exciting Communal Events on our UA-cam page. Set your alarms now and subscribe to the channel - you won’t want to miss this one…" - National facebook page. Unseen film? Wondering what it could be.
I never managed to go through this album to it's end. I don't know what it is. I love this band. I love I Am Easy To Find. I love every other album. But this one just didn't stick. Don't know why.
It’s interesting hey. When it came out, I’ve listened to it once and didn’t get it and then fell in love with it on a second or third listen. Now it’s my favourite, absolutely adore this album.

I think "Guilty party" is the best song they ever wrote. I hope to see them soon in Italy.
You gotta say I’ll still destroy you was a good one too before guilty party played. It was almost the two was worked on the same day.
I'm just impressed by the sound quality of this performance. Everyone on point. Darkness and Guilty party❤❤❤❤simply perfection...
and what about Sleep Well Beast...
The best I’ve ever heard Matt sound. There’s just something about the intimate gigs
They had 24 hours to sound check, that's a big deal for a band used to touring.
My favorite band forever. And how I love Terrible love live, and when Matt is screaming at the end... It's amazing in every form of way.
Nothing beats the National live, this made my day. Can’t wait to more normal times to see you in person again. Amazing, thank you!
Once every few months Scott will grow out his hair and beard and Bryan will completely shave off his, then they switch sunglasses and instruments. And none of us ever notice.

Right? It leaves you wondering what else they have been keeping from us!
I was at this event and helped shoot some of it and I've been waiting for what feels like an eternity now for it haha
Agreed, their show at Forest Hills Stadium was incredible.
This really deserves so much more views and reacts
The National are such a band!!!
This live version of Walk it back is on my favorite playlist ! hudge performance !
Perfect performance..
They should play Empire Line more often.
Probably the most underrated song on SWB
i used to overlook it and now it's one of my faves, even better live!
agreed!
I was thinking the same thing listening to it!
Addictive ❤️🎸🎶🎧
it's one of their most underrated songs. period.
Can't wait. The last one was awesome.
Die Qualität von The National ist derzeit von keiner anderen Band zu topen. Ich freue mich schon sehr auf das nächste Konzert.🇩🇪🧨💯😎👍

Glenn Raucher, I think it’s selfish too. I -and I’m sure other short ppl can closely relate- don’t want to watch a gig through others’ screens.
Hi everyone. Greetings from the future. Enjoy the video, is amazing!

I've always wondered whether Kyle and Benjamin are counted as members of The National.

Touring Members, but they are just as important.
The 5 are those that write the material and are part of the decision making process for each album. K and B are part of the band in every sense of the word, except for this part.
