Wunmi Bakare: Considering a Transplant | Vertex Pharmaceuticals

Wunmi Bakare spent the first three decades of her life managing the debilitating effects of sickle cell disease (SCD). After doing in-depth independent research and working closely with her doctor to develop a plan that would work for her, Wunmi decided to undergo an allogeneic stem cell transplant. A week before her 30th birthday, Wunmi found out her brother was her match. In the video above, she details her decision to undergo this treatment and advocates for others with SCD to make an informed decision that is right for them based on their unique experiences.
