Hi been in the trucking industry as a driver for ten years. Decided to make a career change back in may of last year. Been in school for 7 months now doing the general education classes and is about to start the cyber security classes. So excited I'm 43 years old and still work 70+ hours a week don't let anyone tell you it's to late to go back to school
@user-si3bx7kc1d Yes, I'm at the University of Phoenix. Some will say it's better on-line schools but it's working for me. Especially with my 70 hour work schedule I have weekly. I didn't like the general education classes that much but I guess it's necessary. I've seen some people say it's a degree mill but my experience is you going to have to put in work to earn this degree. I'm still going to take this Google program also
I'm a cybersecurity professional going through this and it's way more realistic to what you actually do as a cybersecurity professional than exams from CompTIA. I also love seeing that women are teaching the course! Awesome job Google.

Hi everyone, im currently enrolled to the course. I did want to ask as a 35 yr old. Is gaining cybersecurity skills worth a career change? What’s the best stack to have as a complete beginner?
Great question! Yes, it's definitely worth it; you can change careers at any age, and the Google Cybersecurity Certificate is the perfect tool to jumpstart a career in cybersecurity. The certificate qualifies graduates for in-demand, entry-level cybersecurity jobs such as: cybersecurity analyst, security analyst, security operations center (SOC) analysts, information security analyst, IT security analyst, and cyber defense analyst. After completing the program, you'll gain access to career resources - like 1:1 coaching, resume help - and a job board where you can connect with over 150 top employers who hire in these fields.
At age 51 and looking for a career transition into cyber security, such a detail comprehensive presentation is essential for my journey into cybersecurity.

Great Course i think everyone need to get google cybersecurity certificate.Very simple course and practise. Also i wish for everyone health and good life also i wish best practise in learning process.
The real question is: will this ACTUALLY get you into an entry-level cybersecurity job? I ask because even if someone gets the A+, Net+, and Sec+, they only qualify for a helpdesk job. Even though all 3 exams cost ~$1200 + money for study material and the fact that, in total, all 3 certs are essentially equivalent to 3-4 years of in-the-field knowledge
I'm planning taking this route instead of continuing a Cyber certficate at a community college. It's hard to get into a class since most are always full.
The Google Cybersecurity Certificate is designed for all experience levels, so no experience is required before signing up. Click the link to learn more: goo.gle/47Sw5kz

@@allenchang6185 The "instructors" read off of scripts and expect people to just understand the info fired off at an extremely rapid pace. Also if you have a different OS other than Win, you are at a disadvantage and unable to follow along with what they're doing on your end. The labs are limited to step by step instructions. So instead of seeing if you're actually learning the content, you simply copy and paste whatever they tell you to do. You're not absorbing information, you're sitting there, watching them do things and being expected to understand.

Those of yall that enjoy watching these videos, it’s nice and all but on the actual course on Google, you get to practice on virtual machines / do plugins. Also get to use Linux / SQL and few other stuff for hands on practice. I’m currently on 8/8 Certificate. I just started and I’m glad im almost done.
is it worth? i dont want to waste my time

How long did you take please?
@@PresidentialAfrica It took me 8 months because I only did 1h-1h30m a day and I was kinda lazy some days. But if you really put in some good time into it You can do it at a normal pace 6months. Please how do I access it from their Web directly and not via coursera?

Is the content here on that channel the same as the content on the Coursera platform or not?
My problem with Coursera is that there is no translation for my language, and you know UA-cam supports all languages

If different, what are the differences?
the content on this site is only a fraction of the actual course. This is the first video on one part of the course. They are not going to upload the whole course on youtube for free- otherwise Coursera would make no money. I am not sure if they had translations, though each video within the course did have english subtitles, and transcripts. Good luck on your journey though@@yousefbarakat857

Bought this course 2 weeks ago. Incredible information as a beginner defo will get a Tech job with this for sure.
I just completed 2 associates degrees
in cybersecurity and digital forensics, and in network technology administration (with a focus on Cisco 200-301), and passed the CompTIA sec+, yet still feel like I don't know enough, and thought this looked interesting - but so far, it really feels like an infomercial for googles security program. 🤔
Please, can you be my mentor?
Cyber security is mostly needed in every sector in both government and private sector considering the increasing occurrence in crime rate all over the world.
I am a Chattered Accountant and now taking a course in cyber security in one of the Top universities
Very much interested! I am a beginner IT help desk support. Glad I found this beginner course! It is my goal to work in cybersecurity and I hope this course will guide me in my humble long journey!
Best of luck!
I accidently found Google Career Certificate today. First I read the course introduction which later interested me a lot. thank for sharing this.
We're so glad you found it!
Basically the mathematical requirements for cybersecurity is discrete mathematics and calculus.
I have been thinking about IT for a very long time, but I struggled to find something in IT to pursue, but this video helped me take a decision and I am hyper excited now to consider Cybersecurity. Great presentation, keep up the good work. Thank you..
Would be grateful if Google makes Data Science and Machine Learning professional certificate as well
Machine learning yes but data science will more than likely be replaced by AI
Toni, thank you for presenting the class. I just finished the first class of Google's Cybersecurity course. I learned a lot and I am looking forward to the next class.
Best of luck on your learning journey!
Hello! I am doing the Cybersecurity course from Brazil! Will I be limited to finding jobs in my country or will I have the option to work remotely for international companies?
I’m about to graduate with my my degree in computer science this June so excited to learn more about cybersecurity! My dream job is becoming a CISO thanks google for making these courses
That's awesome!
I've already decided that I want to be in cybersecurity but I have no experience as a cybersecurity professional. I'm current a technical service rep in the energy industry. Should I go for the google IT support certification before the Cybersecurity certification to get a better foundation or should I go with the cybersecurity certification from the get go
wonderfully thankful to all that have contributed to this...much love
I love seeing all the women in this field, makes me excited to learn! Everyone looks so fun and inviting and eager to share their knowledge with others who have the same curiosity in tech!

I'm just starting my course in cyber security
This course is right on time, im excited for the opportunities this certificate can bring. Thanks Alphabet!
You're welcome!
Google never disappointed us. Thanks!!!
I’m exploring to learn new skills and interest in technology. Trying to start somewhere I can grow and learn.
Best of luck on your learning journey!
I'm planning taking this route instead of continuing a Cyber certficate at a community college. It's hard to get into a class since most are always full.

@@allenchang6185 Edit: Also, there are tons of bugs with Qwiklabs and half the time they don't even work.

Great question! Like all Google Career Certificates, no experience is required to get started and anyone can enroll. In fact, learners of all ages successfully graduate from Google Career Certificates! (Please note that the program is hosted on Coursera, which requires that learners need to be over the age of 13 in the U.S.)

I think I’ll enroll when I finish the Google I.T. Support Professional certificate. I hope these certs will hold some kind of weight. So far so good.
they’ll hold some weight but not a lot, since you can essentially pay people to complete them for you etc but don’t let this deter you
They won't hold you getting the career you think you will by doing this. They are very misleading what you can do with it after you complete the course.

In the age of modern technology, cybersecurity has become more important than ever. As reliance on the Internet and digital technologies increases, the risks related to cyber threats such as viruses, hacks, and ransom attacks increase.
Last year I finished some courses, and got certificates. but they are all useless. NOBODY hires you with those certificates. they all want engineer degree, or other university degrees.
Sound pleasant and very informative indeed.
May Almighty God see us through.
Any age limitations, age discrimination in this field? I have heard a lot of age discriminations and the younger applicants are preferred. Age 40 or older don’t even think about it in IT careers.

When I started college, I majored in computer science, but I changed because the programming was too difficult for me.. I'm 43 now, having been in ecommerce for 20 years.. The industry I'm in has changed a lot, and there's just too much competition these days, plus the market is getting smaller. I'm trying to get myself focused on a possible backup career in 5-10 years. I'm good with computers in general. But just wondering since I couldn't complete a computer science degree, if Cyber Security is still a viable field for me to pursue?
Sounds really interesting. That would be nice to know somebody personally that has done this to get me a little bit more motivated I have a feeling I could do it.
