Hi been in the trucking industry as a driver for ten years. Decided to make a career change back in may of last year. Been in school for 7 months now doing the general education classes and is about to start the cyber security classes. So excited I'm 43 years old and still work 70+ hours a week don't let anyone tell you it's to late to go back to school
Please can you recommend a school for me to enroll?
@user-si3bx7kc1d Yes, I'm at the University of Phoenix. Some will say it's better on-line schools but it's working for me. Especially with my 70 hour work schedule I have weekly. I didn't like the general education classes that much but I guess it's necessary. I've seen some people say it's a degree mill but my experience is you going to have to put in work to earn this degree. I'm still going to take this Google program also
Im there right now
I'm in school now and this wii de a career switch for me as well. I'm excited and nervous. Good luck.
I'm 55 years old and just started a BSc degree program. I'm enjoying it! My brain is rejuvenated!!
I am about to do my masters in cyber security and I will come back to this comment when I will get my first job in this field… like it so I won’t forget
Did u get the job lol
And how is it going?
@@khanabdulmuhammad5625 I am at my last semester, I am looking for an internship and I can’t lie it is very tough to look for internship in this field without some experience
So did you get the job??
@@kingemmy8994 probably he didn't finish the program 😂
I'm a cybersecurity professional going through this and it's way more realistic to what you actually do as a cybersecurity professional than exams from CompTIA. I also love seeing that women are teaching the course! Awesome job Google.
If you wanna guide someone to start a cyber security career, what would be your suggested roadmap
@@afrogirltravels yes it is very vast indeed 🤯, looks like my roadmap aligns with your suggestion. i'll start the journey with A+ . thanks for taking the time to share your guidance😇
Hello, can someone from non-cse/ non-software engeneering background make a career in cybersecurity?
@@kr_international_8608 yes
@@AzureMaou found it, that progression chart gave me a heart attack in the first glance. I'll take time to bisect that and understand. great recommendation thanks ❤
Lovely to see a company like Google creating educational resources
They do a terrible job at it.
@@michaelcross3464 how so?
@@allenchang6185 The "instructors" read off of scripts and expect people to just understand the info fired off at an extremely rapid pace. Also if you have a different OS other than Win, you are at a disadvantage and unable to follow along with what they're doing on your end. The labs are limited to step by step instructions. So instead of seeing if you're actually learning the content, you simply copy and paste whatever they tell you to do. You're not absorbing information, you're sitting there, watching them do things and being expected to understand.
@@allenchang6185 Edit: Also, there are tons of bugs with Qwiklabs and half the time they don't even work.
@popcornfan96-hh2vs Good for you
I start my cyber security journey with solid foundation "networking/programming/systems...etc", but it very hard to be certified because it very expensive and lack of online resources specially in my country "Sudan" because of war everything is hard for us , I forget about certificates just focusing on knowledge , am doing well I hope to find an online job that help me to carry on cyber security career 💙
I'm loving this course. This is coming just when 5 days ago after making decision to make a career switch to cyber security. I'm hyper excited! Thanks Google!!!!!!!
yeah me too, i've been watching every video related to cyber security and trying to make a roadmap
How are you doing now? Are you in college majoring in cybersecurity or did you just depended solely on google courses? Did you get a job yet? I’m curious because I’m considering cybersecurity but I don’t know if I should only use google or go back to college or do both
I've heard stories of people getting hired with no education other than courses online and they do fine, they of course have less chance of finding job than someone with a degree @@yasminvilla8481

Normally, we will all fall asleep listening to lectures for over an hour.
But Toni's explanation and presentation just keep me red alert.
It is well-placed and exciting👍.
I totally understand what she was saying.
If my lecturer were this good.
the complexity and dynamic of cyber security are extremely challenging, and might not be for everyone.
But she is making it easy.
Thank you, Toni.
I'm a graduate of this course and my testimony is on the web page.
I must say I'm really grateful for such course, the Google team did a very good job.

I have less than zero experience in this subject or in anything tech-related but I'm EXTREMELY interested in pursuing this. This video almost makes me feel like I can actually complete this course successfully and find a career in cybersecurity🙂!
You'd be wrong about finding the career after doing this course.
If not via Google, you will be introduced to a real good foundation. Learn as much as you can and you too will be on your way.
she is speaking of general knowledge, i am currently an information assurance analyst, and trust me you need to have a well enough understanding of the network, LAN, CLI, Active directory, basic network knowledge at minimum, to truly ACT on the security.

I'm currently in my third course, and I'm truly impressed and grateful to the Google team for creating this fantastic educational training program. It empowers individuals who are passionate about learning but have limited time, allowing them to specialize comfortably at their own pace. Given the rapidly increasing demand for cybersecurity, this program offers a quick opportunity to contribute to safeguarding millions of people from scams.

I am currently on course number 4 of this course...its so amazing..having worked in a network engineer role for sometime am looking to transition to cybersecurity this course does a really good Job though not deep but its definitely a great starting point.
Why network engineer isn't good?
your previous job doesn't have to be bad in order for you to change- sometimes it can just be something you wanna do to change your life. but to each his own. @@hindosman7186
@@hindosman7186 Good question. Network Engineer is also a good career. But having worked as a network engineer, doing course on cybersecurity will be more helpful in putting best performance. If you know more technologies, more career growth and opportunities. Thanks
@@srinivasanb1961 I too am network engineer, considering cyber security. I have a total of 15 yrs experience.
How will you transition into cyber security roles, if you have networking experience? You can't settle for entry level jobs, due to low pay. You won't get mid level jobs as you don't have the needed experience.
How many years of experience you have and what is your plan to overcome the above situation?.
Thanks for making this course, I am super excited to learn from this course!
This is going to be very useful for me when I go to college.... Thank you Google
This cert is a great tool for someone new to cyber security, as it'll serve as a foundation to build your knowledge upon. I'm halfway through the 3rd course and have found it a bit challenging but completely doable. The breadth of info covered is wide without diving too deep. Hello brother.. I want to ask you an inquiry.
Is the content here on that channel the same as the content on the Coursera platform or not?
My problem with Coursera is that there is no translation for my language, and you know UA-cam supports all languages
...
If different, what are the differences?
the content on this site is only a fraction of the actual course. This is the first video on one part of the course. They are not going to upload the whole course on youtube for free- otherwise Coursera would make no money. I am not sure if they had translations, though each video within the course did have english subtitles, and transcripts. Good luck on your journey though@@yousefbarakat857

I accidently found Google Career Certificate today. First I read the course introduction which later interested me a lot. thank for sharing this.
We're so glad you found it!
I just completed 2 associates degrees
in cybersecurity and digital forensics, and in network technology administration (with a focus on Cisco 200-301), and passed the CompTIA sec+, yet still feel like I don't know enough, and thought this looked interesting - but so far, it really feels like an infomercial for googles security program. 🤔
Please, can you be my mentor?
Those of yall that enjoy watching these videos, it’s nice and all but on the actual course on Google, you get to practice on virtual machines / do plugins. Also get to use Linux / SQL and few other stuff for hands on practice. I’m currently on 8/8 Certificate. I just started and I’m glad im almost done.
