    • @Jay-me7gw
      @Jay-me7gw 3 місяці тому

      Its probably not an issue since the suspension would bottom out on the bumpstops when the tire is 3-4" lower than stock due to the portal lowering the hub. The tires physically cannot stuff. Total wheel travel will be the same as stock, just shifted down by the height of the Portal.

    • @chris-allen
      @chris-allen 3 місяці тому

      @Jay-me7gw that all makes sense to me, but you even with a taller tire?. Seems like you would still want a higher positive offset wheel . Doesn't seem like there is much available with those kind of offsets though.

      @@chris-allen If those are 37's then it only increase the tire 2" in radius. You get 4" of lift I believe from these portals. so these tires will still sit 2" farther down with the suspension on the bump stops. Its probably close tho.
      I dont think you can go much more positive than these wheels. They are already +50mm or +60mm i think. The Portals themselves are pushing the wheel out 2.75"/70mm, so its like running a -20mm wheel.

    I was watching a video about a regearing their truck mentioned putting portals on they just hated on them and didn’t even give them a place in the 4x4 community like it’s an over priced bolt on but he also goes on about how much cheaper putting tuns on is but just by looking at this guys jeeps he has sponsors and a different approach to this. I haven’t made my mind up if I keep my jeep or go to a 23 trd off road for what I like to do that is fish on padre Island national seashore along with camping down there anyway I go it will be about the same price the Toyota will be a little bit more but I don’t care if I go that way

    • @Harps555
      @Harps555 3 місяці тому +1

      your comment is pretty hard to understand but Ill try and answer. Yes you can put fully built bolt in tons under a rig for a good bit cheaper then portals.These portals will prob run you 20k plus. Built tons would be around 10 to 15k but if all you like to do is a little camping and fishing you should not need either. If you want bigger tires and things and tend do do more difficult rocky trails yes a jeeps is far easier to modify and will do better even lightly modified you can get over some crazy shit . If you want better road handling and high speed dirt roads a IFS is better. That being said Toyota has been having some issues with there new engines and the hybrid system so i would be cautious of that.

    • @dougenyart9243
      @dougenyart9243 3 місяці тому

      @@Harps555 yes that is what I’m saying but to just say that portals are bolt on and only give you limited performance is not cool just saying but thanks for your input I’m probably going to go the Toyota way just because I’m tired of that straight axle ride going to start with 34 then if needed I’ll go to 37s and that would be the portals I like a couple of them tinker and Tacoma beast like I said thank you so much for your input

    • @Harps555
      @Harps555 3 місяці тому +1

      @@dougenyart9243 well in a way saying portals only give you limited performance is true. especially with a Toyota. For whatever reason toyota refuses to listen to it's customers and continues tomake it extremely hard to upgrade tire sizes. Portals are limited because even though they lift the height of the vehicle and change the ratio the vehicle is still limited by the stock suspension. In order to get more out of it you have to upgrade suspension parts to get anymore travel or stop breakage so now your talking even more money. For you to get a 23 trd do portals and 37s the proper way your looking at close to 100k or more. if you got the money to throw at whatever without caring about getting the most out of it then more power to ya. But at that point you could get a bronco raptor or even a AMW jeep both come with 37s or larger and are coverd under warranty lol. Or there are plenty of other cheaper ways to get a capable rig on 37s. I love yotas and have owned them and they have their pros and cons but one of the biggest con is the amount of money you have to put in them to make them as capable as some other rigs that do it at a fraction of the cost. Especially now a day when Toyota is asking insane prices for their vehicles I'm sorry but the Tacoma and this land cruiser should not be 70k lol

    • @74weld
      @74weld  3 місяці тому +3

      @@dougenyart9243 limited performance is what you get from bigger axles like 1 tons. We sell you a cheat code in the form of ground clearance. I wouldn’t call driving over 5 gallon buckets with your differential “limited performance”. The truth is all you ever have to do is wheel with a portal rig once and you will instantly understand why they are so awesome.
