Great stuff, as always. One thing I would've liked to see emphasized in this video is the hand post on the ground during kani basami, just from a safety perspective. In my experience, it's usually when people jump into the takedown, without posting a hand, that's when the injuries occur, since all their weight is on the leg. You certainly did it throughout, but it would be good to emphasize that for newer folks (or just those new to the technique) that might try this, especially in a live roll.
This guy knows a lot. Great video. I didnt know there was that many versions of this technique. I had to watch it over and over to fulling grasp and get it. Thanks for posting
This looks easy but it's far from. PLEASE take it SLOW when you drill this with a partner; it can cause catastrophic injury if you don't know what you're doing or are overly aggressive and zealous when you learn this one. Great instructional though, Professor Knight. Ossssssss.
It's surprising how well flying spinny stuff works if applied well. It's often discouraged so that people will develop basics, but these are legitimate moves, and let's face it... they are fun!
Im a judoka that has been doing judo for 10+ years. I often go to BJJ gyms to cross train. If any BJJ person does a kani basami on me and im not injured, I will absolutely put the beat down and send them flying into the wall multiple times after that. No pulling guard, no niceties, you do Kane-Basami on me? You will get an absolute clinic on full speed judo after that
2:33 he can counter by putting his hooks in and securing back control right? like a lot of things in jiu jitsu, it seems like you'd have to be quicker/smarter/gooder than your opponent for this to work.
@@KnightJiuJitsu thank you for your reply. Sorry to keep asking questions, but would you teach this for a self defence class for more able learners? Please
Professor Knight, At UFC 272 last night, at @ of Round 1, Kevin Holland did a leg entanglement takedown attempt on Alex Oliveira. Was that an Imanari Roll? Or does that have another name that Holland attempted? Thanks!
Depends on how late you see it coming. Early stages just don’t allow a side to side position when they have a dominant upper body connection. Late stages it’s about escaping the leg entanglement.
My hope is that, by showing the mechanics, warning of the dangers and sharing important safety measures, this video will actually help prevent injuries from this move.
This move is too dangerous and should be banned in all jiu jitsu. I'm a very safe roll, yet my leg was broken in 3 places 8 months ago because someone did this move on me. Horrible sportsmanship.
This is better suited as a technique in a grappling environment. It can work in MMA of course, where he can hit you, but the goal is to keep him unstable and off balance, not sticking in one place for too long.
Khabib’s leg-clinch takedown…We can at least call Sambo’s ***rolling:HAHA!!!*** throws as “pin”… against the Cage wall WOULD translate to the Judo term “Kani Basami”.It’s best defined as an Obi Otoshi + Kosoto Gake where the KUZUSHI of an OBI OTOSHI:Watch this…is Uchi-Kumi into a GURUMA for Suki Nage. The difference between My Judo and…ew…Sambo is that I can take ITSUTSU-No-Kata clinch…Uki Otoshi Vs SUMI Otoshi.LOLOLOLOL…to create ANY KUZUSHI and Lunge hold My ippon from ANY…sumi, koshi…angle of Uchi Komi. So,This level of control is AS legally insane as legalizing the HORRIBLE situations in Bareknuckle boxing.

Excellent point and I definitely should have emphasized that more. I agree.
kinda crazy that a jump into that takedown is consider even more dangerous when in silat, the guntingan is used frequently Oo
1:00 into saddle
2:20 from rear clinch
3:45 imanari roll
5:02 reverse shot
im kinda 2 years late but thanks
Watched all the ads just to make me anticipate the technique even more.
Like the previews before the movie, just less exciting
from the bottom of ma heart, thank you for lowering the volume of the intro and outro clip.

I appreciate that. Thank you. I always like to try to go beyond just an individual technique explanation.
The wizardry/ninja moves in this video are MIND BLOWING!!😮😮. I’ll definitely have to watch this video over and over!!
Awesome video Eli! My favourite takedowns! 🙌🏼
Thank you! One of mine too

I see that you can actually break someone leg while standing using this takedown damm underrated move

YOU'RE A GREAT INSTRUCTOR, I LEARNED SO WELL, THAT I TRIED IT ON MY GRANNY AND NOW SHE'S IN THE ER WITH DOUBLE KNEE SURGERY
She should’ve tapped sooner.
Slick takedown. Love the vid!
Your channel is awesome. Good explanation
Well done sir! Liked the explanations on those techs, especially the reverse shot. Didn't know about that one.
I had a wrestler friend tell me about that when I was talking about a star sweep one time. It blew my mind.
@@KnightJiuJitsu right?! Im going to work on it thx to your vid bro 🤘
Love the kani busani ; it’s the only move I’ve ever seen where’s its worse for your opponent If you mess it up as opposed to actually landing it right
Amazing technique and execution!!✊🥋
Very helpful. Thank you sir
Thank you Eli!
Thank you back, brother.
Excellent 🔥🔥,Rolling knee bar plz teach
This is your best ever!!

Thank you, Eli. I'm wondering if the kani basami from the rear body lock would be considered legal.
Depends on the competition ruleset
@@KnightJiuJitsu thank you for your reply. Sorry to keep asking questions, but would you teach this for a self defence class for more able learners? Please
@@MiniNinjasJiuJitsu I wouldn’t show this to beginners. Too dangerous before people have some more advanced awareness and control.
@@KnightJiuJitsu Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, Eli.. Much appreciated.
Awesome 👏
Very nice 👌
Loved it very educative
The Texas Clover 🍀 leaf!
Amazing takedown. Can I use this in no gi wrestling tournament?
I’m not completely sure if it’s legal for wrestling.
@@KnightJiuJitsu can you please make a video on how to do a flying armbar and flying triangle very easily?
loved the shirt 🔥 RG4L

What if you want to get into mount or side control from that position
Very sweet techniques! Where is your school? I'm from Montreal and would love to visit your school one day.
I’m actually in Kentucky. I definitely want to get to Montreal in the future.
@@KnightJiuJitsu Nice! You should contact Firas. I'm sure he'll be happy to have you over at Tristar.

Great to do against wrestlers cause of the single leg
Nice 👍👌🖒New music 👏
So the saddle is the same thing as 411 or hole hold?
Saddle, 411, honey hole, probably 50 other names.
Great video
Great video. What are some counters against the leg scissor takedown? Thx
Know about it and how to do it is the counter.

WOW.
Oss.
But i will remember it
Thats it shoulda thought of that somebody hit me with a go behind and pick me off on that part
There is no way this video has not gotten peoples legs broken from the kani basami 😅😂

Garry Tonon's version is somewhat safer since he cuts the leg rather jump on it

(Me in wrestling) interesting
How to take down a big stronger dude

funny i just saw the video of people breaking legs from jumping closed guards and doing scissor takedowns yesterday. NOPE.
Yeah, that’s some scary gruesome stuff.
What if punch you with the left arm it’s free
