These cars are lame.

@@MortskeRepair lol
Man! I hope you found some used oil for your furnace. It’s gotta be expensive heating that big ole shop.
@@MortskeRepair dam haha another hater comment people must like getting roasted ! I just like reading the roasting ! That airport one by you was great !
If only there were other people fixing other cars somewhere on the internet…
What a way to start off 2023 Mortske, love the content, especially the Ty Abel history piece. Please consider adding this type of content when possible, really rounds out the episodes and puts a tangible aspect on a "Will it Run." Duff in the trunk was so awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it David!
Yeah I love history I would be cool if he did more like in videos
The rear seat delete is the father of a teen option. It's code 69 on the build sheet lol 😂
haha
🤣
really appreciate you taking the time to tell tys story although I never knew him nor am I from that part of America but so often we zoom past a persons lifetime without realizing each of us have a story
Glad to share it with you.
Fair play to you Mortske! When everyone else is taking the time off to hide in their houses and eat themselves silly, you and Duffers are still here pumping out the content for us unwashed heathens!
Always look forward to a MM but this one was a blast 👌
No damn Doubt,,Right Joe?!!
Mortske once again you have proven your Determination to get things Done, You are an Exceptional mechanic. To Drag that old girl in out of all that snow on Christmas day and give your time Determination Blood sweat and tears, proves that once again you have earned your title as the Best Automotive show on you tube. I also think pudding and his pal Slick 50, needs to take a leaf out of your book and start making some real content. Well Done Mortske and Duff you truly are Legends.
Much appreciated on the kind words Luke!
I remember the small full service stations in my hometown. By the mid to late 80s most had sold out and retired. America’s purchasing habits were changing and the inevitable rise of Walmart was taking shoppers by storm.
The really cool guys in high school were the kids of the owners of these service stations. They drove the Chevelles, Camaros, and Novas. Me? I was stuck with a 78 Pinto.
👍for the video.
Heck yeah! Pinto!!
When you was pointing out the twine wrapped around the rear axle reminded me back 60+ years ago when I was with my grandfather. We lived on the farm and my grandfather would use his car as a pickup truck. One day after cutting hay we were driving (1960 Dodge Seneca) across the hay field to check if it was dry enough to bail. Afterward, we was driving into town and the car had a “terrible” vibration that would only get worse with speed. He pulled into a service station and put the car upon the lift. The drive shaft was packed tightly with hay and was literally smoking from the friction. It took about 1/2 hour to cut off the smoldering hay. But afterward the bottom of the car was so polished you could nearly see your self in the reflection from the driveshaft tunnel!
Hard on pinion seals!
Oh man Mortske has changed, letting an engine beat him, way to start the new year. JK love it, always enjoy starting my day with Duff. Thanks for another video.
Can't win em all!
That hanger bearing, I suspect was the main reason it was parked. Floorpans wasted, but easy enough to replace. Good video. It's always nice when Duffy helps out.
The info segment on Tie Able was neat. I like hearing history like that so please continue to do these when you find things like the ice scraper. Not to mention the fact that nobody gives out free anything anymore. No free paper funnels for oil, no free sample of jerky at the meat shop, etc etc
My uncle who was a lead engineer on this thing complained about these.
Saying that the fenders and hoods were produced in three different locations as well as the painting of being done in as many places as well.
GM reverted back to such antics in the late 80's and 90's . You see as much of because of the missing paint on hoods, fenders and roofs, especially on Corsican, Berettas and the Silverado flavors.
GM was trying to save a dime or two in that phase.
Remember, that is also around the time of the Flint GM plant getting ready to close up.
Thanks for the info
Whoa, you have the fred flinstone brake option. Ultra rare.
haha
I love the way that you & Puddin' are always pickin' at each other. You guys need to do another video together...the mini-truck challenge was terrific !
Maybe one day!
Love the old history of Ty Abel! Always keeping it interesting there MORTSKE!
Will do!
Was gonna work on my 73 riviera this morning, but let me relax and watch this first
get back to work!
Love how you pull these old car's home do your best to breathe life back in to them 👍👍👍👍
Love your content Mort! Seen most of it. The longer videos work out great for me, especially when I'm having trouble getting to sleep. You and the Duffster have a great new year! The Duff abides!
Glad to be able to put you to sleep.
Wishing you and Duff another year full of content thanks for entertaining all of us out here in the virtual world surviving close encounters with exposed moving parts and exploding hydrocarbons 👍
Same to you!
Just looking at that snow made me want to stay in bed and watch all of Mortske Repair and sleep till spring. Glad you are tough not like us southern boys.
This car deserves a showroom restoration!!!!!!! Put this car on a frame off rotisserie stand, fully sand blast, brand new vintage interior, 327 V-8, chrome headers and glass packs. Mag wheels, with metal flake paint show car paint, new drive shaft, and pin stripping, new windshield, new headliner, new radio antenna, totally incredible!
They don't all work out the way you plan. At least you got some good parts you can use on other projects. I'm looking forward to another year of Mortske and Duff. I wish you a very good New Year 🎉👍✌️🇺🇲
Same to you Kenneth!
Really enjoyed the story of Ty Abel ,also to think how well this old Bel Air survived the elements for all those years the body panels were incredible .Duff always makes me laugh as he does his inspection even in the trunk .Happy New year to you two and Chin .👍
Same to you!
Keep it up...the most honest channel in UA-cam.not every car bought on the cheap makes it home...
I appreciate that!
Best Channel Period who couldn't love this Love ya Duff 😁😁😁
Minnetonka IS in fact where the Tonka trucks were made. And cool info about Ty Abel. And it’s pronounced Y-zet-uh. 18:11
Thanks for the info!
Happy New Year Mortske and Lord Duff! My hope for this year is for you to find a vehicle at a somewhat decent price that isn't totally FUBAR!! Good luck!
Same to you!
Happy New Year Mortske! No better way to start a New Year than another Mortske will it run? video. Thank you Mortske, all the best!
Great try! Great video. Thank you to Chin for the research, A+. And Duff is such a good puppers digging thru it in search of gold. At least with the "cowl" hood you made your money back. 😉
Just an idea. When you very first get a car put a bunch of lubie dube in the cylinders that way while you wait to mess with it not only do you have a better shot if the engine is stuck but you're soaking them rings so you'll have more compression when you go to start it just making things easier as all the way around 👍 like I said just an idea.
If I had a crew I would, just not enough hours in the day.
Hell, that back glass would probably pay for the car.
the back story of some of the items/cars you share are amazing, and thank you for taking the time to share it with us!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mortise repair is so much better than the scripted Discovery stuff.
Your heart felt tribute to Ty Able was especially good to hear. Thank you, Duff, Chin and all for putting these together every week.
Thanks for the kind words Phil!
Wonder if Ty Abel’s wrecker truck is still in a field somewhere. Cool vid and great history. Happy new year!
I'd sure love to find it!
Being a history buff, I appreciated the effort of history lesson. Seeing all these old Chevys has me taking a liking of them. Has me remembering all my family that had them...
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video mortske . you work very hard on all your videos and never give up that's why you are my favorite to watch and can't wait to see more.
I have a c.i. Powerglide in my 55 Chevy. About the only thing that will kill them is low fluid. They always burp fluid out of the dipstick. If it's leaking it's got oil.
@@randyhanners6711 Thanks for the kind words Randy!
@@eddean6663 haha
Gave this old girl more attention than she ever deserved.. Really Liked the history of Ty . Hope that becomes a regular thing. Godspeed as always Mortske stay warm
So many classic and/or old cars and trucks sitting for decades, seem to want to run again. Most do with some effort, skill, and a few parts. The oldest one I ever had, was a 1970 Chevy C20, sat for 33 years. Ran when parked. Removed the plugs, old bare wiring and harness. Sprayed WD40 in each cyclinder, new plugs wires. Had to find a junk yard used wire harness to replace what the critters ate Then added a new battery, hoses, belts, oil filter, fresh oil, fresh antifreeze, aired up the tires, started up and ran as if it had never sat in a field for 33 years. The guages worked, transmission & rear end also great. Makes us wonder, how will todays vehicles fair if left to sit for 20, 30, 40 or more years into the future? Will they be as eager to start and run as cars for our past seem to be?
My Great Grandmother had that exact model car. Same color. It was the first automatic she ever owned. Good memories. Thank you.
I don't really care what vehicles you bring back to life. I enjoy watching you figure things out. I might have learned a thing or two from watching. 🤣
Right on
Cant win 'em all. Love the history lesson. I did some digging and found a interview with Ty Abel plus a whole bunch of other cool information. Thanks. Happy New Year. Take care from Canada eh!
You found an interview?!? awesome!
Love the excitement over an ice scraper "oh it says Firestone, we're KEEPING that!", but to follow that up with the homework on Ty Able was pretty cool. And big props to Duff for spelunking the trunk in the dark!
Awesome video Mortske hope you can salvage some good parts for your bubble top, also happy New Year to you and Duff dog can't wait to see what you drag out of the weeds in 2023!!
You should be recognized by any group preserving upper mid west history. I am impressed with the level of respect to give to the stories like Ty Abel. My brother managed a small full service station in WV for 42 years.. No one really remembers these pillars of our communities. Really enjoyed the episode, but I could watch one with your take on automotive history for a couple hours with no complaints.. Happy New Year!
From southern WV myself. miss the old stations
Much appreciated Charley!
Love how you spend time going over the car. Puddin recently did a 64 of Chevy wagon. The entire show was digging the car outta the junkyard and power washing it. I now know everything about power washing a 64 Chevy.
It will not run, but still a great episode. Hard to combat no compression! I was half expecting to see flames shoot from the starter with 24V hooked up. Smoke told us all we needed to know. Better luck next time. If Duff keeps stepping up his investigative services, you will have to give him a raise. Thanks for giving us something to do on Mondays.
Our pleasure Gary!
Loved it, nice to know that I’m not the only one that walks away sometimes…
Happy New Year bro. Keep doing great videos the way that only you can. I enjoy every one that you do.
Same to you!
Great video as always, and the piece of Ty Abel was very cool. Thanks for entertainment and I’ll look to buy some more merch in ‘23 👍
Our pleasure!
Yup, we had 5 gas stations, including a GM dealership in our 1000 population town. Each station had their own personality owner, six everyone went home.
Thanks for another Mortske Monday! History is a cool thing. Thanks Chin for the history information and the editing.
Our pleasure Stu!
Good Morning Mortske! Keep up the good work! I really enjoy your content! Happy New Year 🎆!
Same to you!
Mr. Mortske. I worked on The Indiana Toll Road in the Mid 1970s High School years a Pump Jock doing all of that same kinda stuff back then. For Standard Oil Company. HAPPY NEW YEAR....To GOD Be The GLORY..
Always appreciate a good history lesson from Mortske himself. Loving the content. Keep up the good work Duff.
Our pleasure!
Oh hell yeah!!! It's another MULLET MORTSKE MONDAY!!!
Loved the Ty Abel history. Thanks for taking the time to commemorate his contribution to the area. Pretty busy intersection now.
Our pleasure!
Thanks for sharing that stuff about Mr.Abel. It sounds like he led an amazing life.
Quite the man!
Fun history! We need as many Ty Abel's as possible...
Need a lot more of them in this day
Always informative and entertaining no matter what the outcome. Thanks
If I remember correctly, the bodies (from the firewall back) were painted at the Fisher Body plant and the front clips were painted at the final GM Assembly plant.
sounds about right
My Dad bought a 1961 Bel Air two door bubble 235 two speed as our second car ...for me to drive to high school. I drove it for 4-5 years until he bought a 66 Corvair Monza which used it to commute to college from home.
Awesome!
@@MortskeRepair I only wrecked the Bel Air once in 4 years! For a 16 yr old, THAT WAS AWESOME!
Love the history you shared, that's always interesting and I always love seeing Duff explore the rides! That thing on the front passenger side I think is a "grow your own hood stick"😜 most cars parked for 20 plus years have them. 😅
Enjoyed the video and as always, Thanks for sharing! 😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it
The history of Ty Able and his Standard Oil Service Station was cool stuff. I like hearing about things like that that are associated with the past life of the vehicle. I know it’s not what the channel is about but I hope get to do more of that in the future. Good stuff all around in any event. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Happy New Year, mate. So....let's kick off the year with one of those strange anomalies - a Chev six that will not run. Next week - a Chev small block that will not run, followed by a Ford Y-block that fires up first time and doesn't take your eyebrows off! If I've given away your planned schedule, don't be mad. It will still be cool to watch mice shoot out the tail pipe again! Hey - maybe the possum or coon that settled up in the rear end of the '61 has migrated into the relative warmth of the interior of next week's intended episode and we get to watch Duff chase it into somewhere in the garage that nobody can get it out of. Not that I want your channel to become a David Attenborough special or anything like that, but I've noticed over the years that if it's going to happen at all, it's going to happen to Mortske......and if it's any consolation to you mate, my luck is the same! All the best.
Gonna be a wild year if that's the case Lance!
The work ethic on this guy is the only reason I get anything done on my shitty projects lol thanks for the motivation mort and duff
Our pleasure!
but on serious note I wanted to say I love your videos me and my dad used to do this kind of stuff all the time sadly he's dying now but these videos remind me of the good old days and they mean a lot to me.
Can't win'em all but you tried and saved another one (mostly) from the crusher. Even if it is for just a couple of parts, once these gems are gone, they're gone forever
Just the greatest 😊♥️ Happy New Year to you and your family! 🎉
Same to you!
This was my grandfather's car. He would use it as a field vehicle after he bought a Biscayne that was once an NDHP cruiser. After he passed away in 1972, it continued to be used for hauling parts and lube for the equipment . That is why there is no back seat. Of course, the family outgrew the sedan...8 of us kids. we needed a station wagon. The last I remember , the engine and trans were good, but there was a problem with the diff. The car could be put into gear, driveline spun, but a hell of a racket from the rear end gears.
Thanks for the Ty Abel story. Was at that intersection yesterday. There's a bank at the NW corner for at least 30 years that I've lived in the area. Holiday Station on the south side and a BP station about half a block on the south east side.
Thanks for the info
Hope all is well. Glad to see you practice safety first side shields on the glasses. Lead by example.
Couldn't find my regular glasses!
Once again great content, doesn’t matter if it runs or not, and the information on Ty Able was great to see the history on this .
Glad you enjoyed it!
That bit of "does it have spark" history never fails to make me laugh. Give 'em Hell, Mortske!!
I grew up a couple miles from Ty Able, long gone now. Very cool old school gas and garage.
Small world!
I love the energy. I love how hard you work. I love bringing dead cars back to life. But I gotta be honest. There’s a line between bringing them back from the dead and exhuming graves
Haha
That one's been in the wild a long while. I appreciate your determination Mortske.
Always look forward to your clever productions. Appreciate your auto knowledge but your wit is why I watch. This episode with the Ty Abel history is exceptional! Way cool new approach. Keep it up if you can. Thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks much!
Thanks for that history lesson. My in laws are from Wayzata, and I have been to that corner many-a-time. Not like you really care but it is pronounced why-zet-ah ('round these parts anyway). I mentioned Ty to my father-in-law and he knew ALL about him. One of the towns I grew up in had the same thing, the service station had a competitor move in and failed, so we had 2 Amoco stations with the same name in town, across the street from each other.
Haha, I've been corrected a few times! Small world!
The best part of the Vlog is "Duff Dog". I really enjoy watchin his tail goin 90mph
No doubt!
Rock on Mortske, happy new year to you n old duffer!!!!

Thought it was going to run but still has some good parts on it ! Thanks for sharing !

Hey Mortske! Great video as always. Sometimes things don't work out. My wife got me a Cyclops flashlight for Christmas that you use on your show! I texted her the link from your UA-cam site. Thanks for that too!
Awesome!
No oil filter. They were a dealer installed option, cannister-type bolted to the exhaust manifold with 2 muffler clamps. I had a '61 Biscayne 2-door 235/stick I paid $100 for, drove it for 7 years.
Duff Dog is the best shop assistant.
Sure is!
You getting zapped not once but twice never gets old. By the yell I gather it hurt, lots, and you went back for more. Credit.
Damn man did not think you were going to have a video since it's the holiday season but that's awesome you did. I watched a bunch of your videos over the holiday and got some of my family members hooked on your video's too LOL!
Much appreciated!
Hey - Happy New Year! Thanks for putting these together. Watching that starter smoke at the end -- LOL.
Same to you!
I had a Jeep Cherokee new off the lot, the second year Chrysler takeover, the coil died at 300 miles and again at 3300 miles, the last coil at 33300 miles. Chrysler finally replaced the coil with a 1990 Jeep coil off the shelf. It lasted until she ended up eating the backend of a Mercedes SLR Sports coup.
I bet it still works tho!
how cool is this . stumbled across your channel. glad i did. your appreciation for all things old metal art is appreciated. nothing in our eyes is junk , its just cool stuff made on the way to cooler stuff. like the low key approach and real talk instead of we gonna remould the moulds and every part no must match our 500k rebuild.. your real deal and good info.
Awesome, thank you!
