Personally, I always approached Star Wars as Space Fantasy rather than SciFi, so I was onboard with BatBoy Cosmonaut and Devilman chilling in the Cantina. Rather, I'm impressed that such creative lore was made for the Devaronian to live up to their Red Devil reputation.
This is what I like about Star Wars. George Lucas wanted to make the cantina seem like an evil place and so included a literal devil as one of the patrons, but over the course of so many decades they evolved into their own species with their own history.
*Star Trek:* Almost had to cut Spock due to worries that he "looked too much like Satan." *Star Wars:* Casually has _the actual devil_ show up in one scene, refuses to elaborate.

Devaronian's are the species currently most requested as a playable race in Star Wars: The Old Republic. However with the two sexes looking so different and their women rarely leaving their home system it will be far more work for the developers to implement them.

6:35 Shadowguard: Says she would trust a demon, more than a Devaronian. Me: Well then, allow me to introduce you to...Abeloth. I'm sure she likes you, very much.
@@teamnoob52 From a certain point of view, both can mean the same thing. Like, any lower-level demon can also be called a "devil" but not necessarily be Satan himself. While there are some Christian influences in Star Wars Lore (Hell, demons, volcanic landscapes, etc.), it's not like the name "Satan" is ever directly dropped. Also, Satan is supposed to be unconditionally evil in Christianity, right? That would sound more like Palpatine in a Star Wars sense, rather than Abeloth, who is more "nuanced", since her origin story says she LOVED The Mortis gods (I put "Loved" in All Caps, for emphasis, since Satan isn't supposed to feel love towards anyone, rather he uses others as mere tools for his schemes, and will discard them anytime), and acted as The Mother for them, but (in an act of desperation, due to her mortality looming on her, unlike The Son, Daughter, and Father) she drank/bathed from/in places she wasn't supposed to, which turned her ugly, and her once loving family discarded her, and imprisoned her in The Maw as a result. Unlike Satan, who betrayed God, and was punished for it, Abeloth was the one who GOT betrayed by her family, and abandoned her, since she did what any loving human would do to help her family, even though it was forbidden. No wonder she went evil after that, she couldn't trust anyone, for fear of them abandoning her, again. All she had left was her immense power, and despair-induced insanity. So, for this Shadowguard to rather trust a demon, over a Devaronian, she didn't specifically say she would trust the biggest devil of them all (Satan/Palpatine), she simply said she trusted a mere demon, over some random humanoid with red skin, and horns that more often than not worked for The Jedi, rather than The Sith. Abeloth may have been technically more powerful than Palpatine, but her intentions for the galaxy were not quite as unforgivably sinister as his, if all she wanted was a loving family, yet she hurt a lot of people to try, and achieve that goal. I hope you understand what I'm saying.
I remember that Jagged Fel once thought to himself when watching Devaronian female reporter on the HoloNews that Devaronians are Force's one big joke. Men get reputation of space scoundrels and hodlooms being reckless and aggresive, while women were peaceful, calm, intelligent, composured, reasonable... in another words, the complete opposite of the men. It was in one of the Fate of the Jedi novels from EU.

I like to think that the green skin is a rare trait from a specific colony on a different planet. A genetic mutation led to a child having green skin, and soon the colony had several green skinned devaronians. By nature, the males went out and explored, creating a few more green ones with women they found and mated with. And so while quite rare, it’s not unheard of to find a green skinned devaronian. And eventually, it’ll likely get to the point that every devaronian has green skin somewhere in their lineage, though red skins are more common.
Devaronian = "devil"-ronian Surely that deserves a big mention. The lack of creativity in the name but still made it sound great and believable... I'd say hats off to the creators 👌
Also, in Hinduism "Deva" is essentially the species of the Gods and Spirits. Deva kinda translates as "cosmic being", but theres also a group of them that are equivalent to devils and demons.
"Oni" is also demon in Japanese. There does seem to be awareness of Japanese as Seven Samurai was a huge influence. Also Ken = "Sword" And I think Obi = Sash, like those holding Japanese clothing together, similar to the way jedi clothing looks.
