For those who wonder what happened to Nien Nunb after Episode VI, he became the administrator of the mines of Kessel, dramatically increasing the producing of the mines by replacing the slaves by common workers capable of living underground. By 44 ABY, he was still administrating the mines and helped Ben Skywalker to find Sith Apprentice Vestara Khai
In other words, Disney Canon or IMO "NON-FAN FICTION"...
@@saltytexasranger6301 No, all that came before the Disney buy-out.
@@Beedo_Sookcool That's fine, but Disney Canon is still NON-FAN FICTION
@@saltytexasranger6301 I prefer to think of the Disney continuity, especially the Sequel Trilogy, as "gaslighting the fans."
@@Beedo_Sookcool you are absolutely correct...
"Could travel a path after only looking at a map once", This explains why Lando had a Sullustan as a co-pilot in episode 6 in the second Death Star tunnel run
100% what i was thinking!
Thats a badass ability. It would be very helpful in any way you use it.
he saw where to go and how to get out in multiple ways…plus also explains why he became a pilot at all
Quite possibly the star wars youtuber with most detailed videos.
No doubt to that fact at all.
Nien Nunb’s laugh gives me so much joy
I really like how CIS-alliened species became one of the 'good guys' in the films
I've always been curious about the Sullustans
Two aspects I really love about Sullustan lore directly involves the friendship between Princess Leia and Nien Nunb. The first being of the Sullustan compassion for the survivors of Alderaan as many of them found refuge on the planet with Nien being a direct "diplomat" due to his friendship with the last surviving Alderaan Princess from the House of Organa. (Hope I'm stating that correctly.) The other aspect being that of Nien Nunb's contributions to the Alliance's success at the Battle of Endor. Not only was Nien co-pilot aboard the Death Star (2) killing-blow-delivering Millenium Falcon, but he was also assigned as pilot for Princess Leia's "Moving Target" mission; a mission that was primary done as to distract the Empire's notice of the intent of the rebels massing near Sullust. (That aspect, unknown to the rebels at the time, turning out to be a failure.) However, during their mission of distraction, the last three survivors of the original five-member team escaped an Imperial Star Destroyer aboard the commandeered shuttle, "Tydirium," Nien Nunb being the one to pilot the shuttle back to the rebel fleet.
That's a cool bit of lore!
I love how there is this much info and many species and worlds in Star Wars
I’ve been more and more interested in the species of Star Wars. Going really in depth with it. Trying learn all I can about them. Your work is amazing!
Unless I’m mistaken, you haven’t covered the Ithorians. Would you please consider doing them next? They’re my favourite 😊
Thanks for finally covering them! My sister and I were disgusted by Nien Nunb, watching RotJ as kids, but now they’re one of my favourite SW species, thanks to Battlefront. Did you know, that a Sullustan like character appears in the ‘Doctor Slump’ anime’ by Akira Toriyama?
I wish there were channels on here that did this great a job of explaining the lore and history of existing terrestrial cultures. We have such a deep understanding of these fictional beings. Yet few of understand more than surface information about our global neighbors.
The channel Cogito does a lot of videos on various religions and ethnic groups around the world.
that's because they are boring and no one cares about them.
I was so angry when Disney killed nien nunb. He was one of my favorite star wars aliens as a kid.
Your videos are insanely in-depth!
Great video! One of the lesser known/thought of alien races. Really enjoyed the deep dive on their home world.
I say this alot ...you do an awesome job ...I started building star wars models..then I started collecting figures . Now it's an everyday thing and my main hobby .I've managed to stay sober for 4 years while a lot of people around me lost to there addictions . Star wars takes my mind to a happy place on them off days and there's nothing I'd rather do than open figures and learn about different species, planets, ships and all the other things you cover . Thanks. Not trying to be a dck rider . Just saying you do an awesome job
Nein Nub fans in Battlefront 2015: **Speaks in sullustan**
Average casual: I dont even know who you are
Me who just finished watching MetaNerdz video: Hello what have we here!
I don't care for the Sullustans, but I LOVE Sullust so much ever since experiencing it in Star Wars Battlefront 2016. It was my favorite map. God I miss that game.
The winery that comes to your house, we like that! Cheers!
Sullustans are the fantasy dwarves of Star Wars.
For those wondering what ACTUALLY happened to Nien Nunb after Return of The Jedi:
Nien Nunb would fly with the New Republic, eventually joining the resistance. Being highly venerated, he was a flight commander within the New Republic and Resistance. He helped to destroy Starkiller Base, even surviving the Battle of Crait. He was there at the Battle of Exegol, where he died on the Tantive IV (35 ABY).
Imagine that Sullust being a Map in Jedi Survivor those caves would be hard af to map 😵
Been binge watching your videos. I really appreciate all the work you do for our entertainment. So glad I found your channel. Best Subscription in a long time.
Thanks
12:43 if you're throwing a party with alcohol, you better have a friend like that
What party doesn't have alcohol lmao
Best part about the video? The part where the dog drinks some wine.
Great video dude. I love learning detailed history about Star Wars and there's something really relaxing about your videos and I appreciate what you do man. May the Force be with you
And if you take requests how about a Complete Life of R2D2 canon and ledgends!
someone threw a couple pancakes on their face and said how about an alien like this
For more information on Sullust, I recommend the book Twilight Company. In that story, the rebellion on Sullust was almost wiped out prior to 3 BBY, but was revitalized by the arrival of a rebel alliance mobile infantry division who became stranded on the planet.
Another amazing video
Fantastic details
I've been waiting for this one
I didn’t know so much of this! Gotta crack open my old copy of Planets & Moons!
Great video like always you are the best info about Star Wars on UA-cam.
Can you make one about Clone Commandos, Jedi Temple Guard, Jedi High Council and Hera Syndulla | The Complete Life Story, please.
I hope you know a lot of this info from your videos is gonna get regurgitated in so many homebrewish D&D campaigns. Big thankies my man its so friggin good
I came here to shout out my man Tia Toon. One of my favourite political Star Wars characters.
Immaculate head game😩😤
Cathars and/or Herglics plz
that is one adorable doodle!
Let's be honest, guys. Our Man Nien Nubb being miserably killed in Episode IX should be the main reason the sequels suck.
The fact that they went out of their way to kill him is just.. Stupid. Like, that's almost as dumb as killing R2-D2 and C3P0. In fact, dare I say it might even be MORE dumb.
Awesome
Hey MetaNerdz, just to let you know, it's etc. not ECT
The word is et cetera, Latin for and so on
YOUR DOG IS SO CUTE OMG
Idk why but I love the Sullustans, their design is so strange but friendly. If I was in the Star Wars universe I would hope to be one, except I’d probably move off Sullust 😅
What of the reports of the rebels fleet massing near sullust?
that always bothered me, the Empire has credible intel of a rebel fleet at anchor and doesn't envelop it with a dozen interdictors and 10 sector fleets and just be done with it
Can u do the Rakata
Love a quick phrase book.
So, how does the whole food chain thing work in the caves?
What’s at the base of the food chain? Energy source?
There are many possibilities, but nothing was mentioned about how the web of life works there.
That's a oversight quite common in Star Wars, tons of creatures but virtually ZERO attempts to try and figure out or flesh out their relationships to each other. Aside from a few predator to prey relations, not much is said about ecological balances. Like what do the cave grub-like creatures of sullust eat? What eats the grubs? How are mineral eating creatures able to get all their nutrients from eating rocks? How does their digestive system handle that? Do they supplement their diet with other things? Who knows, it's questions that Star Wars in general (even among the most nerdy of fans) isn't interested in answering.
@@navilluscire2567 yeah, that’s why my interest in Star Wars declines over time
@@robertnichols2283
To be fair Star Wars as a franchise has never been interested in the technical or mechanical details of its setting, George Lucas says so as much. Much of the detailing we do see about how things function from a technical or mechanical or the rare ecological perspective is because of writers caring about that kind of stuff and with nerdy fans like Metanerdz, Ekhartsladder, Geetsly among others eating that stuff up and presenting it to other fans who are interested in such. Star Wars has always been about its people, its characters, its social commentary, it dynamics, and ofcourse its deeper themes *NOT how many dewbacks can you fit on a particular class of freighter.*
I guess what I'm saying is that it's not so much about the *"technobable"* as it is about exploitation of people's reactions to such things like the weird tech or phenomenon around them (i.e. mainly the Force) and what drives them. (what do they truly want?)
The heart of SciFi has never been about explaining the fantastical technology but how do people use it? what for? And how that shapes their social system(s)?
Great video on a great people:)
One of these burial rites is called the Tomb-walling ceremony.
Wow that’s cool to learn always thought Nubbski was an dude inna suit.
Cool.
Still want a video on the Tri-Fighter or "Clutch" from I,Jedi by Micheal a Stackpol. It's a effective Ugly.
I’m sorry but I’m fucking dying at the pictures of Sullustans with hair.
MetaNerdz Lore i dont know if you have already made a vid of this but can u make a vid of the complete life of hunter from bad batch if not its ok
I sit in pylons saloon and listen to you, the alien anthropologists and drink some sullustan wine
Make a video about the YZ 775 medium transport.
Plz do an episode on the genoians or endorians
I want to see a movie about how sullustans stole the hair crown from the Wookiees.
Please go away with your “culture appropriation” bs. Woke ideology is a absolute plague on the world
I’m gonna say this world got its surface blasted during the downfall of the Rakatan Empire long long ago pushing life underground while the up top was turned into a volcanic hell scape from the bombardment
On what planet did the human-like species evolve? Are they all originally from the same planet, or is there more than one species that evolved look like earth humans?
It's the Pancake Kid!!!
Cool
Indeed
Interesting
My buddy Josh used to call Sullustans "Space Mexicans..."
If I still drank, I would be all over that. Cool video.
If you're not careful you might accidentally summon one from a trading card
6:32 Fr fr no cap he bussin bussin with the fresh fade on god
Was Sillier a, as it is known in Star Trek, a class m Earth like world that turned volcanic and they adapted to it or did they evolve on a volcanic planet?
Wot
@@shadowpoet4398 Was the world that the Sulluststans evolve on, always a volcanic planet?
I can't see how any life could evolve on a completely volcanic planet like, say, Mustafar, but people live on it quite easily
So what I’m getting is… seismically, and geologically, Sullust is the equivalent of Io in the Jupiter system, lol. But with life forms that have adapted.
They're hard working people.
Yo that looks like st Pete fl bro! You local??
I remember when I first heard Nien say something in my mother tongue, (Kikuyu, from Central Kenya) I choked on my own saliva.
What's your dogs name? He or she is adorable!
so the sullustan is the star wars space dwarfs
Next, if you haven’t already: Cathar
I thought the lore was Sullustans were originally humans who had diverged due to living in the caves of Sullust for thousands of years.
Tenho um iPhone 12 e não tenho razão de queixa
Mais vale gastar dinheiro num mais caro do que um que seja recondicionado e que custe menos
Mas este vídeo valeu a pena
Hehehe, the ALV. As a Mexican, that word has a whoke different meaning. Very interesting nonetheless
Complete life of R2D2
I wonder if they can swing
Where does the air on the planet come from if there are no trees?
Every time I see these guys I think of my nunb...
6:47 Ironic. They could give others perfect hair, but could not obtain it themselves.
one of my favorite comments in a long time
00:30 wait 8000 so does that mean god and the angels were drinking wine for 2000 years before they created the earth and people?...actually that makes alot of since
Please cut the ads into its own chapter so i can skip it
Just double tap right 6 times.
Ever since I was a child these were my least favorite, most hideous aliens of all time and franchises
Cool, but that secutor video… probably not going to happen 💀
Nien Nunb was Mushroomhead before it was cool.
It should be stated that most of this info told in the video, is (Expanded Universe), not Canon. It'd help many understanding the difference.
I take it that Russian one was quite the outcast
Insane languege and a history of mining under an empire? MY GOD THERE JUST SPACE WELSH!!
To me they kinda look like depressed koalas
Space Italians.
The latinos of star wars.
No not at all.
I thought they were just really big fans of George Takei
I always thought they looked like they had labias for faces
Personally I find this the be the most revolting and disturbing species in star wars and I have no idea why
Good video, but gotta admit I've always thought they were one of the dumbest looking aliens. First time I saw the earliest Star Wars I was like "what the f.... is that thing?!" Like a human hamburger head with wet flappy dog jowls.
When I was younger I thought Sullustans looked like monkeys whyyyy 😩😩😩
It's funny as fuck that there a race of barbers 😂 like of all the things
No it's just a business they were know for. They are known for lots of business and innovation.
