Blitzing The Creels

- One of the jobs that needs to be done at the start of every season is the cleaning, or blitzing, of the creels. A dirty pot can stop a lobster getting inside, so it is crucial to clean each creel thoroughly to ensure that each pot is fishing as efficiently as possible.

Another great blog Barry. Love the BLOOPERS at the end.
Thank you so much, Bill.
Yeah, you can't beat the old bloopers and I'm full of them too.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, bud
All the best.😊
Hey Baz, 👍 yeah we used to do the same, usually every 6 months, and always when we had the boat on the slip. Good chance to fix the rubber and re-stitch the netting before it rubbed through adjust the necks. You know 😁 bloody shame the bureaucrats are killing the fishing
Hi Jack.
Thank you for your kind comment, and insight on how you do things.
To me it's all very interesting on how folks work there vessels and gear, and varies vastly 😉👍
Yeah, it's a complete 💩 show from these government types, typical of academics with no moral guidance or common sense. 🙄 🙄🙄😡😡😡😤😤😤
Enjoy the rest of your weekend bud.
All the best.😊
Good film Barry, liked the bloopers at end!, aye it’s not easy talking to the camera!, I got a total block when they did the BBC Countryfile filming at Yellowcraig 🤣😁
Hi Bruce.
Thank you so much for the comment, bud.
I hope you enjoy your new hat.
Thank you so much for supporting us in the way you do.
Yeah, sometimes it takes a few takes...funnily enough, it's only like that when Jeff is around.😲😲😲🙈🙈🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, bud.
All the very best.😉👍
I like that the Harbor got changed. More boats! Great video
What a difference a clean makes Barry! Great vlog, thanks M8, John.
Hi John.
It certainly does.
Just hope the wee lobbies think so too.
Well, not for these creels, of course😉👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy the rest of your weekend bud
All the very best.😊
Apart from 'Lobster Preferences' a good clean makes a massive different to the look of creels. Be a huge shame for the harbour if it were not to have a fleet of working boats - and obviously our fishing heritage. Cheers for sharing.
Hi buddy.
Your absolutely right on both counts.
But that's the pressure these idiotic academics are putting on the industry with rules and regs that certainly have no place on an inshore fishing boat....it's disgusting 😡
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend bud
Al the very best Indeed 😁👌
Excellent video baz, can't wait to see you back fishing
Hi Mark.
Thank you so much indeed, bud.
Appreciate the kind comment.
You and I both, it's been too long now, need to be getting back at it.💪💪🦞🦞🦀🦀😁👌
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, bud
All the best.😊
Great video
Thank you Tom, much appreciated. 😁👌
Enjoy the rest of your weekend bud 😉👍
Realy great video Barry, I'd no idea the lobsters were so fussy about cleanliness and they'd not like smell of dirty creels, that was amazing didn't think they'd clean up so well, not enough words to say how sorry I am to hear about these men giving up they're livelihoods.and boats, it's just so sad
Hi Anne
As always, thank you for your kind comment.
I'm so glad folks are learning from these types of vlogs.
It's a terrible situation the fishing industry is finding itself in, and it's all to do with the extremely badly managed government and their groups...it's an absolute disgrace 😡😤😞
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
All the very best.😊
Great blog Barry like the way you wash the creels by power hose.
If I could afford the creels I would buy them defo.
Stay safe god bless you and yours
Colin.
Hi Colin
I hope you and the family are well, buddy 😉👍
Thank you, mate. I'm glad you enjoyed the vlog.
Wow, really! 😁👍I think the logistics would cost a fortune 😁👌
Maybe next batch mate, when you've earned a good few sterling, this coming season..💪🦞🦞🦀🦀🦀🦞🦞🦞😁👌
Because all the steel gear will be going at some point.😁👌 sooner rather than later.😉👍
God bless you and yours too, pal.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 😉👍
All the best.😁
Hiya baz I hope that your well,
I prefer to catch our own bait the fresher the better for us.
We try and jet wash our pots after every season but after a couple maybe three seasons we will replace the bait bags and eyes.
As for the new MCA medicals I'm hoping that they rethink what they are proposing and basically give their heads a shake.
Hi Jamie
Thank you so much for the comment and insight on how you run things, bud.
It's great to hear how things work best for other fishermen.😁👌
Stuff there, ML5 bud.
At the end of the day, it's your business, not there's, who are they to say if you're fit for work!
Fishermen are the toughest workers I know...it's all a damn disgrace 😤
Stay safe, pal, and profitable fishing, mate.
All the best.😊
Your pots look spotless compared to mine after being in the water a month. They get growth all over them in no time.
Hiya bud.
Thank you indeed for the comment and compliment 😊
Yeah, those pots clean up really well...only another 50 to do!🙈🙈🙈😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, bud
All the best.😉👍
@@onemanandhisboat I could never keep my pots that clean., unless I washed them every month
🤣🤣🤣 aye, it's not bad for a year, bud.
Plus, I must admit it is the power of the pressure washer that makes all the difference 💪😉👍
Hi can you give an update on the Barry B, I am very interested on seeing how the process is going on your Orkney Longliner. Regards
Hi Paul.
Thank you or your comment.
Unfortunately the Barry B is still waiting in the side lines and will be for some considerable time.
This year will be about creel building and basically getting stuff done for our business.
Hopefully, next year, or when it's financially viable, we'll get back onto our beloved Barry B.
I must admit, I hate passing her most days knowing how she's lying there.😞
I hope that answers your question, and I'm sorry it's maybe not the answer you're looking for.
If there is anything I can help you with, please ask away.
Enjoy your weekend.
All the best.😊
