A Very 'Plouty' Day

  • Baz and the Lynsey B head out of Dunbar Harbour for a Sunday morning trip out on the North Sea in far from ideal weather conditions. Jeff was going to join them for a spot of filming but decided against it.
'Plout' is a Scottish word for a sudden splash or sudden heavy rainfall - now you know!

    Another good watch Baz.
Hopefully the creels you moved reward you with a productive catch and as the season continues may you have favourable conditions and bumper catches.
Take Care Skipper until the next time.

As a non fisherman I find your vlogs absolutly fascinating; you show a dedication to your vocation beyond what many would do. The amount of young lobsters bodes well for the future. How long do they take to grow to acceptable size? Its a real bummer that the fisheries vessels don't protect the british fisherman avoiding engaging the dubious forein vessels. May I say a quick thankyou to to kind words recieved from yourself and other watchers regarding my shoulder op. Stiches come out this week then 4 more of immobility: I am optimistic about recovery. I thought you were in a race with LH46 for the best fishing grounds😃. All the best.

      Hi Michael.
I'm so glad your operation went well.
Like I said before, take your time to heal and don't do anything silly.😁👌
It takes 8 years for a lobster to get to measurable size, which is a long time, and I really don't understand why the price is Rock bottom at this time of year, when the crustacean takes that long to grow.🤷‍♂️🙈
Yes, I know, it's all about the money and greed of others, but it still bamboozles me🙄🙈🤣🤣🤣
      Please take care of yourself.
Remember, slow and steady wins the race😁👌

Thankfully, we are getting to the time of year where the wee beauties are plentiful, shame that they are rock bottom price, though.😞 But you get given in 1 hand and taken from another. It's a no-win situation for fishermen, I'm afraid.🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣
But at least things are on the up for OMAHB for a change😁👌
Hope you have a great weekend.

Hey Baz, well done today. 33,30: beg to differ, Barry, they won't be in a Restaurant near ME anytime soon. The only "Lobsters" found around here are locally caught Crayfish [also maddeningly sold as "Lobsters"] Greetings from Perth, the one in West Australia, NOT Scotland, although that is also on the SWAN RIVER! [Been there, seen that] Cheers, Frank.

@@onemanandhisboat Hi Baz, yep, crayfish are nice but I prefer Marron. These are freshwater "Lobsters" [including the pincers]. They taste much sweeter and can be found in most freshwater lakes & rivers. You DO however need a LICENSE!!!!!" to get them. They are generally smaller than your lobsters, with a biggish one being about the size of the juveniles [nearly legal] that you had crammed your creels. And then there are the MONSTERS, very rare but probably on a par with your lobsters, the bigger ones... Cheers, Frank.
