The population of Fallout 4

- Опубліковано 24 гру 2023
- In this video, I tackle the ravaged world of Fallout 4 to see how many people are hidden among the radiated trees.
I had some setbacks during the creation of this video so if anybody is wondering why it took me so long to upload, this is the reason.
This did mean that it's ready on christmas. So I hope you have a great time seeing your familly. If you haven't planned anything during these days. At least you have a little video.
Hope you enjoy! - Ігри
Now try to estimate the prewar population of fallout 4
Impossible... Or is it?
*Vsauce music*
I say it's 23 million
23 too much, id say maybe around 4 mil
I second this.
Real life Boston has 650,000 inhabitants, and if we add on the technological improvements (use of zero-gravity technology for infrastructure, better building plans, mixes, alloys, etc) and also it being fifty years into the future, we can probably see a good 6-12 million population for Boston and surroundings areas. If it went full Bladerunner megacities though, which is not likely at all, it could be in the 30 million range.
diamond city always felt like a really small place and no wonder why 😂 20 people is crazy
and yet settlers at my settlement with 22 settlers will still say diamond city is the biggest city they ever saw
@@deltaforce2780emil pagliarulo at work...
Theres at least 30 in Diamond city so count is wrong and lexington count was way under
@@eugenemegatron2210 thirty? thats still small as hell
@@liamlinson7563 30 ish main plus security and randoms still more than 20🤣 the whole count is way way off ...entertaining video but so massively under in the head count in general god knows how he missed so many
Normal people: 100. Raiders: 1.000.000
Same as Starfield. There are more pirates than everyone else combined...
lol. raiders and gunners and space pirates etc are just human animaIs in bethesda design
Just don't install the better gunner mod... Shit gets really crowded and noisy lol
@@albogypsy2842shit better than space engineers, where all the "space pirates" are autonomous drones that for some reason have accomodations for a pilot. But hey you can hack em and become the space pirate tho.
just like rust, i consider that raiders are just violent and well equipped settlers, this is the dominant culture and it makes the game far more disturbing
If you wanna get technical, you could include settlements, iirc the "max" i've been able to achieve was about 50, times that by 29 base game settlements, totals to 1450 settlers, and 2868 total human or human-adjacent mutants
I understand that Bethesda has to cut down on the actual size of their maps due to how interactive their environments tend to be (like picking up almost every item, enterring almost every building etc).
But I still feel like it's getting somewhat outdated to have "populated" areas that small. If we look at more modern games like Cyberpunk; Night City is very interactive with tons of buildings to enter and random items to pick up, despite being quite large in size. Starfield meanwhile, which is an even more recent release, has absolutely tiny "cities" for what's supposed to be capitals of whole inter-planetary nations.
imagine Bethesda making sense 😂
I never at one point while playing Cyberpunk felt as if I existed in Night City as a resident or a bystander, none of the districts felt at all memorable but I can recall up pretty much every nook 'n' cranny of every single one of Bethesda's towns, I actually understand how the residents live together despite the apparent size. Metropolitan Communities don't have to gargantuan in size to illicit the feeling of communal connection and in my experience it's the exact opposite that does it far better (but that of course is my opinion)
Night City is smaller in area than fallout 4
About 24 square kilometers with half water vs fallout 4 being 27 square kilometers with less water
@@renaigh None of Night City's districts felt memorable, but every single one of Bethesda's towns did, including Starfield?
I'm not sure we've played the same games.
bethesda never was good at designing coherent large hubs. Interplay was ahead of bethesda even with Fallout 1 and the only thing bethesda did was catch up. F1 had hubs with a main quest and bethesda hasn't upgraded from that concept since.
Its funny how a Dutchman recognizes another Dutchman just from their English accent
Yes always, wonder where this guy’s from, Amsterdam? He sounds like he’s from the North Holland province.
forget the topic I wanna know about the oddities of that map, I've played fallout for around 500 hours and I still somehow didn't recognize half the places shown in the video! it's like it decides to erase itself off your brain after playing, a weird polybius type game where the map was designed by some government agents to mess with people's brain
It’s bc he’s showing them at a different angle, that or you didn’t take time to ‘bask in the sights’ of a destroyed small town. It’s not that deep 😂
Your brain is fine, - Bethesda just makes some very forgettable games lately.
What about Cyberpunk 2077? Night City would be one of the most populous city in video games.
Great video as usual, happy holidays 😊
If you count in settlements, you can add about 600 more people for the Commonwealth. Settlement population is calculated by your Charisma + 10. The largest amount of naturally achievable charisma is 11, and Fallout 4 excluding DLCs has 30 settlement locations.
630 total excluding the exploit where if you bump up your charisma with drugs to increase your population
You should have used the commands
tai (toggle ai)
tcai (toggle combat ai)
As these stop npcs that are trying to move from teleporting around everywhere due to you literally blocking their ability to move with toggle collision
Weird how i was looking for fallout 4s population a few weeks ago. And your video appeared only now. Nice.
Good video as always bro, love your work ♥
I literally love videos like these! You did a huge job, congratulations! But you forgot the Institute, which is located under Boston and has a large number of people in it!
still wait for the exact population of google earth🔥🔥
It's just called Earth. Google doesnt own the entire planet... yet
@@keelo-byte real 😔
Merry Christmas Commugum!
❤❤ Always a good video :)
What about hidden locations like the institute or the railroad ?
Unlike any other fallout games, fallout 4 houses the most scary type of person. People from Boston
Counting the population fo project zomboid would be neat, and i think it might not be that hard (basicly counting the amount of sleeping space in houses)
Love the commentary
Awesome. Subscribed!!
Thank you for the conversion to miles.
good ol’ TCL command. learned that before i even had a PC lol
the population will never be the same after my raider settlements wont stop gaining raiders
I actually asked Chatgpt the question 'Can you please give a range on the estimated population of the Commonwealth in Fallout 4?'
it said that the population of the Commonwealth could range from a few thousand to 50,000.
chatgpt cant do basic math
Yeah, I can see that. Unfortunately due to limitations the game world along with the population has to be downsized.
@@Ryan.2 You need to look up Daggerfall.
A world map the size of Britain, and spralling cities home to thousands of people.
In 1996.
incredible
Merry Christmas
Woah ✨️dedication ✨️
If I worked on something like this and it crushed.. I'd cry in a corner and never complete it
Isnt there a document in the files on fallout 4 pc version? That should tell you all the people that are alive ingame.. not sure if theres such a file but i would think it does.
3:30 I totally agree, why are wooden houses still standing lol
"how come, after a bunch of nukes and 200 years of rotten decay, does the city still stands?"
Easy - Bethesda has gotten fully drunk on 'landmarks'. DC wasn't flattened save for the White House. Like, JUST the White House is a hole (and oddly small). Obsidian followed and made New Vegas have a laser defense, but hey that's something. I don't think we even get an excuse for Boston, just that the nukes missed and made the glowing sea. 76 also has hardly any nuked cities. And now the show will shove in Los Angeles as some wasteland to play around it, despite it A) being already a ruin skeletal nuked mess, so much so you can see crater lakes on its map in 1, and rebuilt and populated by the NCR as the Boneyard and Adytum by 2. But damn lore, we need FUN, huh?
Like, I get it. People want to play around the cities. But there's a compromise for this! Make the Chinese target, say, Airfields and airports and political and military centers, who might be defended by fighters and so, so maybe only 1-in-3 are big glowing holes, but then you can have a ring of ruin around that, and some knocked over landmarks or something. You can then wave away having a lot of interiors because it's just the standing frames and walls for a lot of places, but then some other places (along with pre-war strengthening) are more intact, were out of the range/flash path, et al. Like, if NYC was ever in the games, at least make soho-noho a hole and sear the southern face of the upper midtown skyscraprers/northern faces of the fidi towers to compensate. It's like Bethesda doesn't even try anymore.
The Fallout 4 achievement "Masshole" requires you to kill 300 humans, so to make that happen there have to be a minimum of 300 humans. Google Bard estimates within the playable game area between 2,000 and 4,000 people, and over 10,000 for the whole of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. ChatGPT estimates less than 10,000 in the entire Fallout 4 game.
Respawning. Enemies.
Merry Christmas!
Bros graphical settings looking like hes running fallout on a potato 💀
What song is used in the beginning?
And they all live off the 100 crops total and some canned beans
that might be a tall ask but have you thought about doing a video on Witcher 3 population?
What about the population of the warzone maps?
good video
I feel as though everything is "shrunk down" in scale than what it really is. There may only be only be 20 or so people in Diamond City but there would be 50+ people in the storytelling. In other games there are communities that are barely a 100 people but in conversation there are alot more. Also cities in the games are nowhere near the size they are in our world such as Vegas, Boston, Grafton, etc. Plus the maps are shrunk down but look similar to the RL map equivalent like the vegas region. West Virginia doesn't count since it's map is basically scrambled compared to real life.
Good good, now ......
......what is the population of the entire Greece in Assassin's Creed Odyssey?
merry christmas gamers
birmingham be like:
Instead of using killall you could have used "tai" and "tdetect" to turn off all means of AI acting independently.
1400 is realistic. NC is 700k at its hight. It could of grown to 1 million after New Vegas storyline. That would mean that most counties would have to be over 1,000 and the major cities would have to be tens of thousands.
You should do the population of Minecraft next
😵
mr commugum when will there be a discord
Can you do ghost recon wild lands and the other just cause games please
At least 4 people
Do the population of liberty county
Can you do the Capitol wasteland and Mojave next
Is that from another fallout game?
what about all the people in the dlc and you did not count the scientists in the institute as the video title is the population of fallout 4 not the population of the commonwealth
You sound like a minecraft youtuber named teakay. Is that you or do you just sound like him because you’re dutch. (If you’re dutch)
forgot the glowing sea
could you please estimate the population of the Witcher 3, thanks
As one of the 3 Natick residents, Natick is pronounced Nay-tuhk not nah-tick
Uh huh maybe with your accent, not by the natives who spelled it Nittauke. So you're not even pronouncing it right...and when you have it spoken out loud your way, it still says nay-tik...
But some people say pen and pin. And some people say pin and pin and some people say pen and pen. But it's pen and pin. Your accent gets in the way of speaking the English properly. Not that any Americans today actually do speak it properly.
It's a native American name from the Algonquin tribe. Means place of hills or place of our searching as it was founded by someone searching for a location for his praying "Indian" settlement.
The state Nevada came from the natives. But the city of Nevada in Missouri is pronounced...nay-vay-da even though it's still native American and not pronounced that way ..whole town, everyone who lives there will even interrupt a phone call to correct you. But it's nuh va-da. Bunch of white people been saying words wrong so long their defendants still using the wrong word hundred or more years later
How many birds are there
You can add 600+ from settlements
I think you have missed the point entirely....they clearly already lived there and only became visible once you bring them there. Or they came in from out of state....
There are no settlements from player character. That's the point of counting. Otherwise we can count thousands because of what the game "could" bring in the future...
Population of Spider-Man 2????
How did i get here so early 💀
You missed Concord Civic Access.
I've never understood how it's been 200 years and society somehow never figured out how to rebuild anything. Let's just leave the world in ruin and live in shacks that sounds good to me!
I know diamond city has a higher population than that I can think of like 26 off the top of my head

If the population of Boston had 1 people less 💀
Could you do a video on Forza Horizon 5 please?
0:56 It's actually smaller than that
It's hard to say when not every website uses the same info. One picture says it's 16sq miles while being 48 km and others say it's 9k square miles while my math would put it at 4,000 square miles
hard to say? Just measure it yourself. Open Fo4Edit, look for the Border Region. It has coordinates in the creation engine units. Convert them into the metres. Then calculate the square of a plolygon. It’s around 10km^2 if I remember correctly

Man what about a population of Minecraft?
somehow seems to me that if you're doing a population of fallout 4' vid on the cusp of 2024, including nuka-world is a necessity.
Now do fallout 3 and new vegas
Now do red dead redemption 2😈
Yeah, I've always disliked how gamey Bethesda's world design is. Like 100 people living in a metropolis that's a mile by 1 mile wide hahah. Okay, 1400. Hah
the fact that diamond city, the safe haven, has 20 pop, while rest of the place has more than 800, and some minor hubs having more than DC, is testament to incredibly shit writing for F4 and bethesda's infamouse game design of "distraction distraction distraction".
6th
now do Fallout New Vegas
hey, you got an email? how can i reach out to you?
I don't really have any good way of reaching out, never had this question before. but if you want to feel free to use commugum@gmail.com. I think that one works, please tell me if it doesn't.
