Wow, that long distance flight is some serious dedication. Myself, live only a few hours from Cardiff. Visiting it whilst Torchwood was still on air (Season 2) was literally magical. Also walked up the coast a little way and visited 13 Bannerman Road, or at least the filming location ☺️
@@CrispyPro My ‘go to’ Doctor Who anecdote is that the first time we visited Cardiff, obviously I really wanted to see Roald Dahl Plas (Torchwood) So we arrived there, I could see the shiny waterfall monolith and then….. Literally stopped dead in my tracks. There was the TARDIS! The TARDIS was just sitting there. It was surreal. Quickly became apparent it was an official photoshoot, not for the show itself, but for the National Orchestra of Wales. I will never forget the feeling of slightly queasy unreality when I saw the TARDIS there though. A core memory
Glad you enjoyed your time in Cardiff. The Torchwood hub tower is an artificial waterfall but it's never on anymore so it's just this tall shit looking thing in the middle of Cardiff bay 😂
This is amazing. Being a huge doctor who fan (even planning a tattoo soon). Major props!!! Love from Florida! THIS is why doctor who fans are the BEST!
Nice one Crispy. I was lucky enough to do the same thing in 2012 (under the guise of visiting my Daughter....we all know why I was really there😀).It was worth the 20+ hour flight from Adelaide. A brilliant bonus was visiting The Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff. Right before my Daughter's eyes I transformed from a middle aged man to a 6 year old.
I live in Cardiff, I work in the Wales millennium center, I go to the college where Return of Doctor Mysterio was filmed. This is so weird and so cool😂
I'm from Cardiff so I see a lot of locations everyday - Once as a child I left my house, went to the local shopping centre and there was tennant, agyeman and barrowman all filming the episode where john simm's master returned. Theres a scene where I'm behind the camera the whole time. So baffling
Another Aussie here. I went to Cardiff in 2018, and visiting Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Centre was one of my top priorities! Nice to see the shrine to Ianto is still going strong. (I was with my 70 year old mum, and she was flabbergasted that people would go to so much trouble for a fictional character!). Also visited Westgate St where they filmed the entrance to the trap street in "Face the Raven". The area seemed a bit seedy though. Great video though - it brought back memories!
I took a guided tour through the UK and was so disappointed that our tour guide kept bringing up places where they filmed Harry Potter. A few days into the trip I finally asked "what about Doctor Who"" and he was absolutely clueless what Doctor Who was. Lol, there's over 50 years of Doctor Who.
The opera music you used was lovely. But I thought it was from Kingdom Hearts and I was so shocked before realising It wasn't. Another great video from the Goat of whotube.
I did this in 2013 for the 50th anniversary - though to be fair, I had a work trip from Australia to Spain - and totally geeked out for 4 days in London and Cardiff. I actually found my limit. I actually couldn't do any more. Overdose. But at the airport on immigration, they asked me my purpose for visiting the UK: I said "Doctor Who".
Last summer I went to London for a pokemon go event and I recreated 2 famous scenes: the daleks on westminster bridge (took an AR photo of a pokemon called bronzong the most dalek like pokemon) and the cybermen walking down the street with st Pauls catheredral (using a pokemon called registeel)
I always find it crazy, well not crazy but interesting to see such a normal place (to me) as Cardiff treated like an exotic place, like Who aside, I’d be disappointed if I ended up in Cardiff. Although tbh the few times I’ve been I actually had a blast and I actually also have some amazing memories and important life moments there. Ah shit, I didn’t plan this, but I think I need to take a train up to Cardiff, not a long trip from London. So never mind, Cardiff good. Liverpool also good. So my comment is a long trip to? Nowhere. YAY. Oh well. Great video though, learnt a bunch a stuff I never knew! I live in Camden, was there when they were filming the 60th, it was awesome! Long, uneventful for most of it but awesome nonetheless.
I mean this in the nicest possible way but why is this something exciting , I live in U.K. but I’ve never been to wales yet I couldn’t care less about seeing places they’ve fimed

( 6:03 ) They also shot a Sarah Jane Adventures story there with the Mona Lisa! 👍🏻
As a person who's grown up in Cardiff, and live just outside in so glad you loved Wales!
Hope you come back sometimes
Would love to come back and visit!
1:47, i just noticed you could see your reflection, so it wont even matter if she titled the camera or not XD.
Great to see Crispy doing some location scouting for when he takes over the show #CrispyForShowrunner

i'd still like to go to Cwm Bychan, Llanbedr, Gwynedd, Wales, UK ... that's where they filmed The Eye of Orion scenes for The Five Doctors.

Oh thats so strange! You are living a Doctor Who life!
Many a cold night was spent watching filming scenes and meeting the cast from Doctor Who and Torchwood at Cardiff Bay good times
So jealous!
And you would fly 5,000 miles, and you would fly 5,000 more, just to be the man who flew 10,000 miles to knock the Doctor's Door. Hey hey hey.
I wish I'd thought of that. Genius ✌️

Great video and it’s cool how they reused some places for multiple episodes
some??? most of modern doctor who is using the same like 20 places to film, up untill chibnal, he broke that rule
@@topmandog1 that’s my point actually
I went to Cardiff in 2012 during my study abroad in London and I went to the Ianto Shrine and cried a bit.
The pure dedication is half the reason Crispy is the best Who channel, and obviously any other Who channel Crispy touches.
YOU FOUND THE PIER HEAD!
WE DID IT!
So that's what the ozzy guy I bumped into at the station in Chester was up too 😅
As someone who lives only half an hour from Cardiff,I am so sorry mate.

Was the alien artefact gallery in "Dalek" (2005 episode, set in 2012 🤯) in the same room as the Gallifrey Falls painting?
I live a 10 minute walk away from Cardiff bay, still can’t believe they got rid of the doctor who experience
I remember going to East Hagbourne where they filmed Android Invasion - Tom Baker story.

I am from Belgium and my brother at one point said that he wanted to visit Wales, so I took advantage of it and suggested Cardiff.

Bro this is sooo underrated
When I looked on Google Maps and saw pictures from the Wales Millennium Centre, I just immediately KNEW I recognized it from a episode :D
