"I'll try and go in order"
*immediately picks David Tennant's second episode to start*
@Ben 10 Fan still not David Tennant's first episode tho lmao
@Red Archer Live wouldn't that be the children in need special born again ?
@@christophermurphy7417 nope, no other minisodes are there
@Ben 10 Fan again, not true lmao. Minisodes and episodes are two very different things 😂
I know Troy, I was screaming at him "You forgot Christmas Invasion!"
Human Nature/Family Blood is definitely GOAT one of Tennant's best performances probably on-par with Waters of Mars
Totally agree with this, I'm actually surprised he didn't put it on GOAT
Why did he think it was controversial
@@oscarnator2324 Because it was. Some people really got mad with this episode for how the Doctor, as John Smith, treats Martha going so far as to say he's being racist and misogynist, which fair enough, but that's how life was back then, as shitty as it sounds. I believe these two episodes really show what being the Doctor really entrails and further deepens Martha's predicament, reaffirming she can't be with him vut she's always gonna be helping him no matter what. It's not pleasant, but it's realistic.
Yeah I agree but I never thought that would be controversial to depict the sad reality of the past. It’s better to depict racism and class issues so we don’t forget what the past really was like. I didn’t like how they just brushed over racism in episodes like the Shakespeare code where 10 says something along the lines of “maybe they were more progressive than you think” when Martha questioned if it was safe for her to be there.@@koralinawho
@@oscarnator2324 Well, I completely agree with you, I was just pointing out why it was a whole thing back then. But you should know already that people tend to make scandal over pretty much every episode of Doctor Who, so meh.
Crispy, in Tooth and Claw that's not Tennants actual accent, it's a fake Scottish accent he's putting on that's actually very different to his real one!
I love that it's true and just makes him such a good actor, he's a Scott, playing a man with an English accent, who is doing a Scottish accent, there aren't many actors who can do that
Lol thats brilliantly hilarious
Omg i am SO with you on midnight. Such an underrated episode, it's fantastically written and the actors did an amazing job. It must be so challenging to keep an episode with basically one setting engaging and suspenseful. I loved that one. So underrated
Great episode!!
My mom hates that episode for whatever reason, but it's easily my favorite of series 4
Is Midnight seriously considered underrated? Everytime I've heard anyone talk about it, they put it among the best in the show, or even best of television and deservedly so imo.
@@IlikeTrainsguy100 In my experience, most people I've spoken to about it either didn't remember it at all or didn't like it. Usually the former. But for me it's one of the most memorable episodes bc it's so unique, different from any other episode
Every Whovian I've talked to praises that episode. I think it's the mysteriousness to it. Nobody knows what this entity is, not even the Doctor. It can't be bogged down by the CGI either because you can't physically see it.
There's something about 'Gridlock', on its own, it's an OK episode, but the retcon of the Face of Boe, jumped it up a level. Adding a personal price that wasn't properly felt before. Turn Left is Doctor Who, at its most brilliant and Darkest. Bernard Cribbins,... Donna's choice.... How can it just be Fantastic.
Brillaint stuff!
The end of time part 2 should have been GOAT, it’s an extremely solid conclusion with some of the most iconic scenes in RTD’s era, not to mention the last 10 minutes
I am definitely with you on Unicorn & the Wasp. It's just a fun time, and you need fun romps to balance out the emotions of Turn Left & Midnight
I think waters of mars is my favorite, it was so well done, and the climax was really good.
Family of blood / human nature is also a goat for me. It's amazing how something as simple as a half smile makes those episodes so iconic. (Plus very good acting)
A lot there I would rank the same. The problem with Love and Monsters is, I really enjoy the first part with the the group that get together to find the Doctor but just really love hanging out, bonding and having a good time. It is even fine when Peter Kay turns up and starts bossing them around and the gang start to disappear one by one and we don't know what's hapoened. It goes down hill with the introduction of the Monster version of Peter's character.
Absolutely agrred! I hate all the hate it gets just in general, I really like the first bit
Completely agree haha
Nice Lego sound effects, very satisfying
Thank you! I’m glad someone appreciates haha
Would definitely put New Earth higher. Cassandra’s snark; David’s going full on camp during his ‘possession scenes’ ; Rose’s disinfectant reaction, the Doctors reaction of ‘ yeah, still got it’ after a righteous snog from a possessed Rose. Then a second visit from the face of Boe? Good stuff!
& as an American viewer who hasn’t got the memo yet, could anyone pls enlighten me: what exactly is a ‘chav’?
it's slang for someone of lower class who's usually quite dumb looking, Chavs are usually girls too
Chav was a slang term/ acronym in the uk for council house and violence. If you Google chavs uk you may get more of an idea. However it basically meant dressing like the character was poor in that situation
@@jamesmanning7396 THANK YOU!! really appreciate it!
I'm with you, I wouldn't put it on GOAT but definitely higher, is such a great introduction to Ten as it shows a wide range of his emotions and you can clearly set him apart from Nine. Also agree that David's performance is amazing and the whole Cassandra arc is brilliant.
The Waters of Mars and Silence in The Library gave me nightmares for weeks. They are some of the most terrifying but best Doctor Who episodes of all time.
However
My favourite episode in David Tennant’s run has to be The Waters of Mars. It’s such a phenomenal story and I love the dark ending it has. Plus the villains are terrifying and it’s the beginning of the end of The 10th Doctor’s journey
Crispy trying to wreck his audience with 21 shots is the content I'm here for
Midnight might just be my favorite Doctor Who episode of all time.
I am so glad you put unicorn and the wasp in fantastic because it’s literally one of my favourite episodes ever for the exact same reasons and no one agrees with me !
THANK YOU!
It’s a lot of fun! The actress who plays Agatha Christie is really good in that role
School Reunion is ranked somewhere between good and fantastic for me. The reintroduction of Sarah Jane is great and the chemistry between her and David Tennant was electric. K-9 gives it a +1 too. However, I feel it is bogged down by its location and antagonists. The Krillitane were an interesting concept - winged bat like creatures that could shape-shift into anyone (and eat children). They seem to be familiar with the Time Lords too. I just feel as though there wasn't enough substance to them and the fact that they were only infiltrating a School, made them feel less intimidating. I would mention the CGI too but it is forgivable due to the time it came out and the insane lack of budget the show had back then. That lack budget is probably to blame for it being set in a rundown School in the UK, which was a theme back in the RTD era.
It's hard to pick a favorite! I especially like Runaway Bride, Partners in Crime, Girl in the Fireplace, Family of Blood / Human Nature, School Reunion, The Shakespeare Code, The Unicorn and the Wasp, Smith and Jones, and The Christmas Invasion. My least favorite is 42, although anything with David Tennant in it is hard to dislike.
In my personal opinion Utopia, The Sound Of The Drums and The Last Of The Time Lords are 100 percent GOATED
I love the human nature episode so much I recently got a tattoo of the pocket watch/chameleon circuit
New Video, Big Pog
Last of the Poglords
Since this tier list only has bad as a negative then I would put love and monsters there but if there was more below it I wouldn’t move it down.
Hey Crispy, can you react to the HasaTDR Dr Who YTPs???
ngl i love new earth. it’s just nice. it’s got a lot of personality and is just very doctor who :) it has a special place in the cheesy sci fi section of my heart
I love the lego sound effects in this.
Glad you like them!!
I was born the day planet of the ood first transmitted
Is your middle name Ood because of it?
@@CrispyPro 😂 I wish mate
Its good to see someone slightly praising love and monsters which not being great it is one that stands out for trying something different. Gridlock i also feel is underrated. So i actually agree with most of this.

2: Blink
1: Midnight
Do tier lists for the other Doctors!!
Maybe I will 👀
For me, everything apart from the villain and that blowjob joke was brilliant in Love and Monsters. The storytelling in that episode apart from the parts I mentioned are better than so many other episodes in Doctor Who, mainly S7 and S11.
Even though I already loved it as a child, once I grew up and lost my mum I really sympathised with Elton and appreciated the story told in the episode in a different light than even before. Definitely one I always revisit :) plus the abzorbaloff haunted my nightmares for at least 2 years haha
Wtf, Series 7 is gold. What are you on about?
Praise Love and Monsters to diss Season 7?🤨
@@karlitatv season seven was average except Day of the Doctor specials.
that was an unbelievable sam smith impression
I don't have Twitter, but I can still type out my personal tier list. This is also not only from GOAT to BAD, but each section is ordered in what I liked most to what I liked least in each tier.
GOAT: Blink, School Reunion, Silence In The Library, Forest Of The Dead, Midnight, Planet Of The Ood, The Unicorn & The Wasp, The Stolen Earth, and Journey's End
FANTASTIC: The End of Time Part 1, The End of Time Part 2, Partners In Crime, The Waters of Mars, The Fires of Pompeii, Human Nature, The Family of Blood, Smith & Jones, The Sound of Drums, The Last of The Time Lords, The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit, The Girl in the Fireplace, and Voyage of the Damned.
GOOD: The Poison Sky, The Sontaran Stratagem, Daleks in Manhattan, Evolution of The Daleks, The Doctor's Daughter, The Next Doctor, Tooth & Claw, Age of Steel, Rise of The Cybermen, Army of Ghosts, and Doomsday.
OK: The Christmas Invasion, Planet of The Dead, The Shakespeare Code, New Earth, Gridlock, The Idiot's Lantern, Turn Left, Utopia,
BAD: Fear Her, The Lazarus Experiment, 42, and Love & Monsters.
Appreciate the effort! Very good picks here
you gotta do this again but with the new episodes when they come out
I feel like Midnight is pretty universally loved and considered one of, if not, THE best episodes of that series.
About to watch the video, be interested to see how much I agree with, or whether there's any outlier washed opinions! 😂 #CrispyForShowrunner
Edit: Can confirm, not properly washed opinions here! Great video as always! 👌
You're the best hahah
Hate when ppl say doctor who went avengers no avengers did a doctor who
You underrated The Next Doctor - come on - all that steam punk and a gloriously animated giant robot?
**puts Tooth and Claw as fantastic**
me: "Ok, we need to talk..."
This video may have to be remade once the 3 60th anniversary specials come out.
I agree with almost everything on this list but one daleks in Manhattan/evolution of the daleks that should have been in good as they are good stories and in my opinion better than army of ghosts/doomsday as for me the daleks have real presence we get to properly see the cult of skaro and how they are different give it a rewatch
You should rank Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi episodes!
Would you like that? I've considered it!
Yeah 100%!
I mostly agree with this but I would put the christmas invasion in GOAT personally. Just cause it’s my favourite christmas special and is very nostalgic for me
Love yah Crispy, Allonsy!
ALLONSY!
Turn left is GOAT, pls
Love and monsters is excellent, don't regret your placement
My favourite episode is Blink and one of my least favourite is Midnight, although I put both in GOAT as I don't deny that Midnight is excellent , it just makes me so tense I'm never inclined to rewatch it.
Excellent list, agree with 99% (ish) of this list, however ‘Turn Left’ is an absolute GOAT for me!
I love rise of the cybermen/age of steel for both them being good episodes and for nostalgic reasons, but I think the best is probably silence of the library/forest of the dead
nah im sorry but daleks in manhattan/evolution of the daleks was iconic. The old hollywood theme with it being set in new york bringing in american audiences? love it. the dalek-hyman hybrid reveal with the booming music score in the background? terrifying. Baby andrew garfield? bonus. Not to mention the episode really emphasised just how pure evil the daleks are by rejecting anything human, and to see them conflicted by upholding their duty and loyalty for their race but then turning on their own species in a way was a really interesting dynamic. I would arguably put it in fantastic... maybe even GOAT tier
Fear Her is literally the only episode of Tennant's run that I'd actually skip on a rewatch which is super impressive.
Nice choices, i would have ranked some of the xmas specials lower down tho. Any chance of some classic doctors episode ranking?
Did I really just watch someone place love and monsters in ‘good` on the tier list above new earth
To do an episode tier list of the 13th Doctor's seasons would look drastically different from this. I think you'd need to add an extra tier below "bad."
David Tennant's era truly was the peak of Doctor Who for me. Granted, season 2 was weaker. Season 3 was amazing. Then, Season 4 was GOD TIER! I truly loved Doctor/Donna together, and I wholeheartedly agree regarding Wilf. This 60th Anniversary special is going to be so emotional for me!
Bro love and monsters was the worst episode of who until s11 aired.
Favorites: Midnight & Turn Left. Not so crazy about Fear Her.
FREE VIDEO IDEAS: RANK COMPANIONS AND/OR THEIR FIRST EPISODES! Everyone rank’s doctors and doctors’ first episodes but no one focuses in on the companions as much. I’d love to see your thoughts there. ✌🏼
I’ve got a video on that from 2020 I think! 👀
ua-cam.com/video/gMSUxK6O70o/v-deo.html
@@CrispyPro Wow I just got called out! Haha! Totally didn’t realize. I just always have these ideas pop into my head and figured I’d share some in the comments for once haha
You still could do their first episodes though 😌 or not. You live your life haha. Regardless, love the channel!
@@adomaszowec5 Thanks Alex! I like that idea haha
I would put turn left in goat and unicorn in good but other then that my list would be pretty much the sane
Where is the day of the doctor ? That is also a 10th doctor story
my favourite david tennant episode is the waters of mars
and my least favourite is either fear her or love and monsters
Agree with you about the worst being FEAR HER but my favourite is a doctor lite story TURN LEFT. Watched that more than any other though I watch the Donna series more than the others.
Turn left is in GOAT!!!
You surprised me with a few. Human Nature and Family of Blood not GOAT? Interesting. I’d flip School Reunion and Girl in the Fireplace. I find The Lazarus Experiment is awful. So many amazing ones, hard for me to pick my favourite. It would probably be either Midnight or Waters of Mars. Worst ones? Fear Her and The Lazarus Experiment. I never watch either of those on my rewatches.
Family of blood/human nature is controversial?
Just wanted to say woohoo on whoculture you deserve it. Well done
Thank you!
Waters of Mars is the best episode of doctor who to exist and there’s no debate on it
Roll on November
Tweeted you my list
Family of Blood/Human Nature are the GOAT for me, and when it comes to seasons i would say 3, 4 and 2, i think i might be one of the few who thinks season 3 is better than 4.
School Reunion is too high. It’s more of a ‘comfort food’ story than a phenomenal story.
I would put Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel higher. The parallel world (which sets up the finale), the development and send off of Mickey, the depiction of Cybermen, the tension…. It’s all great.
I’d put the Lazarus experiment in “Bad” or “OK”. The Doctor and Martha’s moments are good, but the story isn’t.
Utopia should be GOAT, in my view, because the twist is so well handled and everyone’s acting is top notch.
Last of the Timelords has a very weak resolution that prevents it from being in the “Fantastic” tier. It has lots of great moments here and there (e.g. the master’s death), but it’s fundamentally flawed.
Hello crispypro, I upload podcasts of every doctor who episode, we are about to do the David Tennant era, from next week in fact, I would love for you to join in with the podcast.
Turn Left is a GOAT episode, Crispy. Give it a rewatch. It’s phenomenal.
love and monsters should actually be even higher
Would've put love and monsters in the very bad section
PRETTY VALID BUT CANNOT FORGIVE YOU FOR PUTTING SCHOOL REUNION OVER GIRL IN THE FIREPLACE
You should rank peters episodes
Unholy Crispy Pro cover coming 2023?
So you say series 3 is your least favourite of the three, but somehow you have more fantastic tier episodes than in series 2
Edge of Destruction > Midnight. There I said it
What's controversial about Family of Blood?
The Doctor asks a character who was racist to Martha to come and travel with them. Just Twitter outrage tbh
I honestly feel like Voyage of the Damned was ranked too high...
But Blink is also my least favorite episode to rewatch...so...
in what way is human nature controversial?
oh wait is it paul cornell? i think i read he was transphobic or something?
Crispy, you're not wrong. Love and Monsters, for all its tonal problems, is way better than the haters say.
Agreeeeeeeeedddd
Wait, why is Human Nature/ Family of Blood and the actress who plays madame de Pompadour problematic?
Madame de Pompadour’s actress says all of Noel Clarke’s victims are liars because he never treated her that poorly. Awful stuff.
@@UltimateKyuubiFox
Oh damn.
Anybody thinking RTD-era Moffat stories are anything less than Fantastic, please stop watching TV, you don't know how it works.
Wild Blue Yonder #1
Sorry
Hot take I prefer series 2 to series 3 and 4
@Ben 10 Fan now hear me out I'm entitled to my opinion and your entitled to yours
That is a hot take! But I can respect it
@Ben 10 Fan you sound like a high schooler
I do agree with u on midnight the brilliant way of not showing the creature causing the repeating that happens and the fact we get David Troughton the son of the second doctor Patrick Troughton is great and my real change would be to the idiots lantern fear her and love and monsters would be moved to the bad column as someone who started with the5th season watching it on demand and then 6th season being my first season watching as it aired David’s era can be overhyped from people who probably became more fans of david tennant then the show and the ones who left when he it not that it’s bad just overhyped
My favorite episode is smith and jones. My least favorite is the idiots lantern.
Eotp2 could of been goat ngl 😅
love and monsters in anything but Bad HURTS 😭the ONLY enjoyment i get from that episode is laughing at how absolutely stupid it is 😭😅😆
also justice for Fear Her! it's not great but doesn't deserve the amount of hate it gets imo. and while i kind of like it, The Idiot's Lantern deserves Bad just for the part where Rose tells that kid to go back to his abusive father... what the hell man it was literally so against him for good reason the whole episode...
but yeah those 3 episodes are some of the worst in the revival and really bring down S2 for me. the finale is tragically beautiful though so it keeps it from a D or even F tier
I actually liked new earth ;~;
favourite blink, least favourite 42
I mean, Series 4 was fantastic.
You forgot Day of the doctor
He said he'll have to redo this with the 60th though!
@@sarahglover3286 but that was the 50th
@@thechillindude4478 Yeah but it was post his era!
The fact you actually considered putting Midnight in Fantastic and not GOAT makes me rationally angry.
I've watched it at least 7 times. Maybe only second to Heavens Sent
Allonseyo
Incorrect, all s tier
No
School reunion is veeeeeery cringe, i feel like i´m watching a duck tales episode.
I need to get this straight... If I say my opinion on Doctor Who episodes, I would become the most hated youtuber.
I use to like David Tennant as The Doctor but he got so overused and mentioned so much and on the covers when it wasn't his tenure and now has become the "14th" Doctor has made me dislike him more not Tennant's fault but i find his Doctor to be self indulgent uncharacteristic and annoying and the whole whining with the regeneration is so out of character with the Doctor people can hate me if they want but this is how i feel about Tennant the episodes were fine i just don't like his Doctor.
