I pick up my 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn North Edition tomorrow afternoon. The North edition has the off-road package which includes a 1" lift, a rear locker, heated seats and steering wheel among other things. The Big Horn has the 4 wheel drive auto mode which the Rebel doesn't have. I think this is a better feature for daily driving here in Canada, plus I have a rear locker and a lift. I can't wait to pick her up.
Yep, and u will save thousands by going Big Horn. Won't get leather, cooled seats and suspension and tires aren't quite as agressive. But you will get 4x4 auto and better gas mileage over Rebel.
This guy doesn't even address the big differences between the two trucks. Rebel has a different steering and stability control system. Comes with Bilstein shock absorbers, LED lights, and 1" lift. Yes, theBig Horn can come with the off road package but that package is nowhere close to what you get with the Rebel. Plus cloth seats suck.
Awesome video. I just recently bought a 2020 big horn crew cab for just under $40k, (30k miles). 4x4, came with the LED light package the Rebel has, and I prefer cloth over leather and it has a banger Alpine system. Absolutely in love with it. Smokey grey color with matte black wheels. Couldn't pass it up. Great review brother.
Let me tell you.. I called a dealer, they said they would have a big horn off road waiting out front the next day. Got there the sales guy said we dont have one. Went to supervisor he said the do not exist. I had looked at them on that lot already. The sales guy drags me to the rebels all with dealer bump. I called BS left went across the street made a killer deal on a loaded 2018 sport with 13000 miles and never will go back to that dodge dealer again. I bought a 17 loaded sport from them with ram boxes already. Air ride suspension and everything else. I did not need leather I needed a work truck. As soon as the hell cat rebels come out I'm going shopping again. Not at that place. The worst thing you can do to a customer is lie to them!
Why did you not cover the true reasons we shop for off road trucks. Is there a ground clearance difference? Is there a difference in suspension? Is there a difference in skid plates? I don't care about the color of the logo, I want to know if I am going to put a hole in my oil pan if I go truly off roading.
I like the front grill on big horne much more. I don't know if air bags are on either one. The big horn comes with a one inch lift. Ten thousand plus taxes, that's plus 8.5 percent in my state.with other extra fees state your looking at about 11,500 difference. Most guys do not go extreme off road and I hate wrangler tires even on the Rebel. Looks like the big horn would be my choice.
Hey Ben, do you know what the performance/suspension difference between the Rebel and the 4x4 Off-road Package on the other trims such as the Big Horn, Laramie, etc? I know the Rebel has the Bilstein Suspension standard. Does the 4x4 Off-Road Package come with the same suspension? Honestly just trying to find out the main off road ability difference between the Rebel and Big Horn with the 4x4 Off-Road Package besides the tires. Thanks!
@@marcuskoolrt I didn't. Probably should just ask a Ram dealer. I think the shocks/springs are more beefy in the Rebel. Also pretty sure the Rebel has more under body protection.
I've been comparing these models as well. One thing not mentioned is the rear-end ratios are different. The Big Horn has 3.21 and Rebel 3.92. This difference will affect responsiveness, towing, and MPG. Hope this helps!
Off-road packaged always seem like a waste of money unless you are a competitive off road driver. Big horn looks nicer but the Rebel also had great looks. These are the best two front grills of the Ram in my opinion. One tip, never buy new, always buy pre-owned and save a lot of money. Preferably something 3-4 years older
I've been nerding out on all the 2020 trucks past few weeks. Just want to say thanks for the vids! I just don't see how you can pass up on the Big Horn. You have to pay 5-6k more for ford and chevy and they still don't have nearly the amount of accessories in their base models. Seeing Big Horns around 35k in my area, waiting for Labor Day sale and think I'm going for it.
My Rebel sticker price was 54k. Comparing a cloth interior with a full leather 12" Nav with the extra price from the eTorque and bed options isn't quite fair
Well you might as well do the rebel and limited then. Its about everything between the packages not just what you certain options that are the same. If you want a rebel then you want a rebel. Star changing up the looks of that big horn and guess what ,price goes up. If you don't care what it looks like then by all means get a base line truck.
My rebel with similar package to the Bighorn was msrp 54.4k when you compare these specific trucks the bighorn is the better value, but not with a similar package.
I am on my second rebel after owning gen 1 raptors. The rebel suspension is where the money is at. Those two trucks are not the same. The 4 corner air ride is not the same as the off road package on the big horn and ground clearance makes a difference. If you use the rebel to off road and run it, that truck is worth every dollar. The big horn wouldn't be able to compete.
We have a 2017 Sport with ram boxes and 4 corner air suspension. Off road I and 2 it's cool, the truck will tilt down on the side for ladies to get in it has a sunroof and is loaded. That truck was pricy that's the wife's mine is a 2018 sport 2 wheel drive both have a 3.92 rear. I put the stock wranglers on a work truck and up graded to Toyo all terrain. Between what we bought in 2017 do not see a big difference between the 17 and 19 redesign Our 17 has under 20 thousand miles so it's a keeper.
Good stuff Ben, I think the Rebel has steel bumpers and the Big Horn does not, the Rebel tailgate plus ram boxes will add up to $2k, toss in the steps and that's about another $750, then the 12 inch screen for at least another $1k. I bet if you optioned in the lights on the Big Horn plus the above differences the price gets a lot closer. Your review absolutely does point out that many of the differences truly are aesthetic though. That being said the Rebel still wins out IF you're into driving off road since the angles likely are a bit better and there are skid plates. Also. . . . does the Big Horn with the 4x4 package have Bilstein shocks? The Rebel does and that could be another differentiator. I have no idea why the Rebel does NOT have 4wheel auto. That's just flat out bizarre imo.
What's wrong with you Ben? You've been talking about stitching and color but I didn't get to see anything off-road? Is this some kind of fashion show for trucks? I want to see what the truck can do man, not stitching. What's wrong with men these days?
Rebel has led lights and black front and back. The interior is much better and the rebel has a lift on it. Sits definitely higher. The tires are much better on the rebel also. The hood on the rebel is outstanding also. Overall the rebel blows the big horn away.
On my Big Horn Lonestar 1500 4x4, it came with the all of the undercarriage shield plates, tow hooks and class IV hitch. I added 2" rough country leveling shocks, rc rear shocks and 34" Toyo AT3 tires. It goes where I need it to go, off road. No problem.
What about ground clearance, approach and departure angles, etc? This is where the Rebel differs and they didn’t even address it. I mean, look at the height of the tow hooks between the two. Do some homework on your product next time.
The big horn has great ground clearance, skid plates and hill descent if you get the off road package. I owned two of them already. They go up serious inclines with no problem. They have their differential way off the ground. It may be better on incline I would ck the specs. I was surprised at what the guy said about value. They darn sure dont want you to buy the off road when they are selling rebels. It can be more than 10 thousand difference more like 13 thousand with more tax and fees
The off road package for the big Horn doesn't give you all the same off road features as a Rebel. Do some research. This guy didn't touch a lot of the big differences between the two.
I'm not 16 anymore. Haha. I personally prefer a interior that is not the bright red. It doesn't have to be all black but with the red I think after a few months of ownership I would get tired of the bright red accents. Just my 2 cents. It's great that Ram has it as a option now for anyone who wants the red still though.
