My 2017 Bighorn 5.7L Hemi 4x4 has proven very capable in slush and snow in 4WD auto and 4WD lock. I went home in about 8in of untouched unsalted un cleared fresh snow, and it was quite simple. My Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner AT tires and 4WD lock got me home without any slippage or any issues at all. This morning in some snow and quite a bit of wet and slick slush 4WD Auto got me home just the same, no issues.
Pro tip: if you are using 4wd lock, turn on the 4wd lock, then press and hold the traction control to turn off traction control and the stability control system to get the most out of all 4 wheels. I have the same truck and honestly this unleashes the 4wd. Has helped me out of some nastier muck! ✊🏽

Great video thanks for your time, I own 2019 ram 1500 new body style In my testing experiences 4AUTO mode engages in full time (all wheel drive ) Mode every time and stays on when 1. vehicle temperature reading is under 40f stays in full time all wheel drive. 2. Viper blades on stays in full time all wheel drive. 3. Any time wheel slippage stay on for certain amount of time
@MultiPartizan1, "...stays on for a certain amount of time." No one ( as in none of one ), no one knows how long it stays engaged. A minute ater slippage is detected , 30 seconds, 5 seconds, or micro-seconds...? On wet /slushy roads with alternating dry patches is it constantly kicking in-out, or does it "learn" and adapt ? Inquiring minds Want to know... ☆
From what i understand you have to put the vehicle in neutral then select "auto", the drive. Is that correct? Do you put snow rires on? Huge difference.
Paved alot of driveways on the Island. Some of those roads are pretty narrow with a tri axle dump and a trailer lol. Hope you and your family enjoy it there and keep bringing us some videos.
Do u have the anti spin rear diff?if so do u think the anti spin diff and traction control interference with each other?I just got this truck and haven't had to use 4wd yet .ur saying to turn off traction control when using any type of 4wd option? Have u ever gotten a 4wd overhearing light when using 4wd high? I know some do when using 4wd auto bc the clutches engage and disengage so much but I dunno how it works when it's in high and supposed to be locked kinda
I don't think anti spin and traction control interfere with each other. So far, I have never had overheating the clutches. But I only use 4wd auto when it's snowing or freezing rain or roads are covered in snow and ice. In 4wd high, you have to watch your speed up to 55mph in high and 25 in 4wd low.
@@OuzoLouGarage right .I am wondering if the system is truly connected in 4wd high .if it works by clutches in 4wd auto ,how's the connection made for 4wd h and L

Traded that in for a 2014 RAM 2500 with Cummins. Other then recalls been a good truck. Have you had any problems with your RAM 1500? Considering downsizing as I'm not towing anymore.
You actually had a Key Lock on the door. Interesting. My 2019 RAM 1500 Bighorn Night Train Edt. 4wd doesn't. It's totally keyless............**Love the Cross!**
