I always find your videos incredibly soothing and I appreciate it especially today as I recover from covid (despite being fully vaccinated). There's a calming aura surrounding you and the patience and gentle manner you handle your plants with always make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Speaking of fuzzy - if you want an easy going rather easily available philodendron with fuzzy stems, look for squamiferum. I have it, it's amazing, the leaves are gorgeous and the stems are not only fuzzy but also reddish in color. It also grows incredibly well.
@@christinekobzeff Thank you! I think I'm on the mend :) My plants keep me company and keep me going - we're getting ready for winter, too, but I still have some propagation projects in progress and they keep me excited :) Have a great day 🥰
More of these videos please Christine! I have a Chinese Money Plant that has a multi leafed baby growing out of the soil and I’m so scared to cut it in case I kill it. You really are so good at giving your viewers confidence, so any plant care or propagation videos are much appreciated. Not seen Michael for a while and hope everything is good with you both xxx
Great video! Would love a video on the different Latin classifications; I saw in the past that you have specific potting mixes based on if it’s an aroid, etc. Trying to learn more!
Super helpful video! Please do a leaf damage video and more pests damage leaves mites vs thrips. I have a crystallinum for a year that didn't do anything! Almost gave it away. Finally put it in moss /perlite and its shooting out lotsa roots and a new leaf finally.
Just found your channel last week and have already learned so much! I know you mentioned the soil mix ingredients, but do you have a video breaking that down or which plants use which soil? Thanks and love your minimal boho style!
I like the delicate look of the Vanilla vine and the stems of the Zabrina. Some of these plants I see a lot of people struggle with and it seems to be the same problems.
Great video as always!! Informative to say the least! I also struggle with my alocasia black velvet it's a plant that doesn't like being wet to much, now I ll try put it in lecca as someone suggested here and see what happens. Please do some leaf damage videos they will definitely came in handy!! Greetings from Greece!
I picked up a free baby anthurium pallidiflorum the other day that was almost completely rotten and am trying my hand at a setup similar to yours thanks to this video! I initially had it in pearlite with a reservoir of water, suspended in the air so the stem would not rot (it is a large chunk of stem with one leaf and one root left that I'm not entirely sure is viable-it's brown and woody/not at all squishy). The leaf pretty quickly started to curl and so I sandwiched it in sphagnum on top of the pearlite and stuck it in my ikea cabinet. I really hope it makes it because they are SUCH beautiful plants and kinda expensive normally! If you have any advice, I'd love it :) I made sure the sphagnum covered the base by the new leaf in hopes of rooting
I would recommend staking your melano on a pole or a plank. Mine was pretty sad for a while until i saw a video of someone using a plank and i did it right away and omg my melano has never been happier. It has been giving me beautiful leaves and they seem bigger the higher they climb.
Christine, try your black Velvet in pon. It’s the best mix for my Black Velvet, it’s thriving and so happy and the leaves just get bigger and more lush with each new growth 🖤
I love your videos. They are very informative. What does it mean when a leaf rots before it unfurls? How often do you water your plants in terracotta? I have to water 3-4 times per week, which is hard to keep up with. What is the purpose of using sphagnum moss as a topper?
I was sooo happy to see you back. Love your content. There is always something to learn. Keep them coming please. 😉 Lise from Kincardine Ontario Canada.
I love your videos! You are so alert with your plants when they have a problem you know exactly how to treat them. It’s amazing!! I have a peace lily plant that has dark brown tips. Do you have any idea what might have caused it? I would be very interested in more plant problem/solving videos. Thank you
My theory is that in a clay pot, the plant dries out so much that when it’s watered it takes up water too quickly. I solved this problem with my watermelon peperomia by putting it into a plastic pot, where the water level stays more consistent
If you haven't already checked them out, Summer Rayne Oakes has like 4 or 5 great video tours of NSE Tropicals in Fla. Her greenhouse is amazing and she gives good tips and has tons of tropical plants in a really cool environment. She seems to let them grow pretty naturally so it gives insights to what makes them happy, plus it's just great plant porn. NSE has a great shop too, even if I can't afford most of them, it's cool to see what she's selling. Have a great day :D
Great video! Can you do a video on your soil mix you featured in this video? Also, I read worm castings may contain eggs, have you ever encountered earth worms hatching in your potted plants?
Really enjoyed watching this video because it is very relaxing on a stressful week that I have. Honestly I really don’t care for most of those plants you showed in this video 🤣 but I do like learning from your experience and experiments with them.
I struggle a lot with Black velvet too, I sadly already killed one young baby I am on my 2nd one now ate trying to learn how to keep it alive. I feel like they are much more sensitive than the other Alocasias
Hello! I just received my Gloriosum and I noticed that the leaves have fluid filled blisters. Like if you pop it, there’s water inside. The roots are very healthy and the soil is moist. Is this bacteria/disease?
Wish we could actually see the plant close up. If you had two cameras recording at the same time that would help a lot. One recording down at the plant and one recording in front of you. Just a suggestion.

Thank you so much Iza, that was such a lovely comment. I hope you feel better soon! I'll definitely have to check out P. squamiferum. Thank you!

Yes please do more videos like this
My black velvet is thriving. I put it in leca with strong hydro fertilizer and put it very close to a grow light. The leaves are huge and vibrant!
That's awesome, thanks for sharing Kayla! I need to change up my black velvet's situation.

Oh and I can't keep black velvet alive to save my life! I hear pon and self watering pots are the trick which I'm gonna try with my bulbs.
Yes please on plant problem videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and research.
It's great to see how well those plants are doing. Some time in the water will do miracles under the right light conditions.
I learned quite a bit from this video, thank you!
I would really enjoy a video where you explained what is the cause of specific leaf damage.

Love all the information I learn from you, yes to problems and all things plants. Thank you!

Beautiful plants
Question: Do you recommend the super thrive for all propagations or just a plant that is not doing well?
Christine, where did you find your large round floor shelf in white behind you?
Yay for more videos 😁
I would love if u did 3 videos a week. Love seeing ur videos.

Been a subscriber ever since you guys went to Baguio and Sagada
Hi! Thank you so much for your support over the years! The Philippines was so beautiful, Michael and I would love to visit again one day. 🙌
How do you know what soul mix to use for each type of plant?
Never knew we should be sterilizing our Fiskers!
🪴🪴so wonderful 🌿🌿
Wish we could actually see the plant close up. If you had two cameras recording at the same time that would help a lot. One recording down at the plant and one recording in front of you. Just a suggestion.
Thanks for the feedback Ca'Leea, I'll try to capture more angles next time.
Hi .. silent listener here !
😍
How’s Michael doing?
It’s really hard to see what you are doing☹️
Off topic, are you Asian and white? Just curious...
