I'm glad I sat through more of this and didn't just give up on you for not knowing how many cylinders you have. Diagrams of the layout in these Mustangs aren't easy to find so I still found this quite helpful. Now get yourself a collector plate so you don't need a front plate!

Besides the bad comments. I had the same problem with my 289 and i about to put a new fuel pump and see if that fix the problem. Thank you. This was really helpful

I’m having the same problem with the 61 Thunderbird with no fuel getting up towards the carburetor, but fuel coming through the line until the pump and wondering if you could do a pressure test on the pump? Thanks.

Beautiful car and while AC & power steering is nice I’m glad I don’t have that in my Way on my 65 Fairlane lol

I think advising people to heat up a gas line is a bad idea. Otherwise, it’s a really good informative video.

Hi and thanks for the video. My Mustang also has power steering. Did you find that there was plenty of room on the bottom to take the fuel pump out or would you recommend removing the power steering pump? Thanks again for the video! :)

I did not have to remove the power steering pump in order to get the fuel pump out. There was enough room without removing it. Good luck!

    1. What if your fuel filter is clogged? Doesn’t it make sense to check/change it first? It is also between the fuel pump and carburetor, correct? it’s a 6 dollar part so Ichange it anyway.
Gas melts plastic, and styrofoam makes napalm.it will be cool when it sounds on the distributor.

Bummer. Are you sure you’re putting it in the correct way? The tubes coming out should be facing toward the ground

This was a pain in the ass to get out. Specifically the inside 9/16 bolt 🤣

  • @magus1017

Same thing is happening with me, I just hope it’s the fuel pump and not the camshaft inside that actuates the pump.
    Pray for me.

Very questionable on the knowledge level on this person. He calls the 289 a six cylinder which is incorrect. It's a V8. He also recommended heating up the pump output nut if it's stuck or too tight... NO! Danger, danger Will Robinson! NO! Ummm it's a fuel line!!! He makes no mention of an important alignment issue when replacing the pump when it is best if the cam is in the up position so that the bolts align. It's a whole lot easier than trying to push the pump up while inserting the bolts.

  • @beavishawk1

What in the hell are you doing? Coil wire off.. Take fuel line off filter at the carb. Turn it over.. Gas? Yes? Then it's the filter. No gas, pump.
Or screen around fuel pickup in the tank.. Will clog and act like pump, filter problem. I learned the hard way 35 yrs a go

    289 isn't a 6 cylinder it's a V8 engine.

Looks like you have more problems with a carburetor leak. Next time film you doing the work not talk about it.
