Great video! Another thing you can add when explaining this is the concept of building speed with the maximum tackle speed timed with the release. I'm no expert, but this is similar to a golf swing. A common mistake is people try to swing really hard and generate maximum speed immediately so they're actually decelerating by the time they make contact with the ball. Similarly here, I think you'd want the speed of the tackle too build to the moment when you release the spool.
Omgosh! I can't wait to try this technique. I have been so discourage about my casting because I can barely get it far from the bank. One critical thing about this guide is to let people know it's all about timing. The reason any of these long distance casts work is because you're loading the rod a lot earlier than just letting the weight hang behind you for a normal cast. In this case you're loading the rod by starting with the rod next to your chest and then pushing out. This will help pre-load the rod before starting the casting toward your target motion. The 'issue' I see with this method is if you don't get your timing right, because the weight is swinging on a parallel line to your target, if you miss the window where the weight behind the tip, you can fire it off 45 degrees in the wrong direction. This won't happen with the pendulum or ground method as the motion is all on the target line.

I can hit roughly 100 to maybe a tad over 100yds but it takes way more effort than it should to hit that distance let alone trying to reach farther. I like your reel addition for the thumb...to avoid being clucked or scared about that fg knot coming around and ripping my thumb open...I use a casting glove. 😅
I call myself doing this cast. I be cocking back like im about to send it to china and it end up in wade gut city lol. I manage a 40 yard cast at best. I need to practice without bait on it and commit the motion to muscle memory.
That's it. Long arch, extended arms, smooth even acceleration all through the cast with the power just movement of your body. Do it right and at first it will shock you how easy 150 to 170 yards is. Even with big lead and big bait it works. The bigger the casting load the more you need to slow it down as the weight of the load will generate tremendous momentum. Just allow it to do the work.
Really love ur video, I just wonder, for long distance casting, same lure weight ( ex 2oz ), which power of rod you prefer ? Medium or MH / heavy? Thx in advance
It's a Breakaway Casting Cannon. Easy to get hold of in the UK about £11 fix to your rod with electrical tape. Anglers Den in Peacehaven have a UA-cam about it.
Order a "Casting Cannon/Casting Trigger" online for your spinning reel (cheaper than at a gear retail business). I was new to surf fishing and learned the hard way the first day cutting my finger. Began carrying various types of tape having to re-tape while fishing, just an inconvenience. Attached the Cannon to my rod and haven't looked back.
It's more about the snap, release and following through than coming around and twisting more ...seems to work better for me swinging the line out straight behind then Javelin out and push pull...I have dead on accuracy that way.
I have noticed that for some people as well. I guess it's more of a preference. If that works for you, then no need to change the technique. I'm sure you get a ton of distance that way as well.
Hi , I m new to your channel , learn a lot from you. , and I saw you use overhead reel , I m not quite understanding how I choose the right set up combo , I usual do spinning on beach , and use heavy sinker and bait, can I select penn pathom 2 star drag and penn PREVIAL 2 overhead rod 10ft , will this work for beach finishing by using bait ? First off love your videos bro. Question, I have a penn rival 30lw. Can I surf cast with this. I’m on a bu
You can but power casting is an issue without a magnetic cast control. If you power cast like in this video you may birds nest.
I call myself doing this cast. I be cocking back like im about to send it to china and it end up in wade gut city lol. I manage a 40 yard cast at best. I need to practice without bait on it and commit the motion to muscle memory.
Great video, great advice‼️
Stay Elite AF‼️👊🤙✌
Just allow it to do the work.
your a good teacher mate nicely done
Really love ur video, I just wonder, for long distance casting, same lure weight ( ex 2oz ), which power of rod you prefer ? Medium or MH / heavy? Thx in advance
Great tutorial. Subscribed!
Could you please tell me more about the casting accessory on your spinning rod..thank you, from the UK 🇬🇧
It's a Breakaway Casting Cannon. Easy to get hold of in the UK about £11 fix to your rod with electrical tape. Anglers Den in Peacehaven have a UA-cam about it.
I think you were a Samurai in your past life! Now, it's Miller time!
Learning to fish myself. Do you have a list of gear used here? Especially that weight/leader setup
Great video bro.
Thanks man!
Learned ALOT , thanks !
Great video! You are making want to try a casting reel now! Would this reel be a good starting reel?
It's more about the snap, release and following through than coming around and twisting more ...seems to work better for me swinging the line out straight behind then Javelin out and push pull...I have dead on accuracy that way.
I have noticed that for some people as well. I guess it's more of a preference. If that works for you, then no need to change the technique. I'm sure you get a ton of distance that way as well.
Can you tell us bro what rod type is that heavy or not? Also how to get that reel directly from penn. thanks
thats gangster! cant wait to give it a shot in SF CALI
This guy taught me how to look crazy in my local park 😳
Good video man👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Good video Thanks for Sharing.
Thank you for watching
Hi , I m new to your channel , learn a lot from you. , and I saw you use overhead reel , I m not quite understanding how I choose the right set up combo , I usual do spinning on beach , and use heavy sinker and bait, can I select penn pathom 2 star drag and penn PREVIAL 2 overhead rod 10ft , will this work for beach finishing by using bait ? Thank you 🙏
Great video man!
Excellent video, what make is the braid line your using?
Bro, this was a good video, but it would been a great video if you included way move side camera show of the motion rather that POV. Maybe a followup video with shots from the sides, face on and from behind. That video would be epic! Thank you anyway for taking the time to film and produce this video.
Hello beach bomber. Have a question, Iam getting mi fathom 2 standard version, Any advice on the magnetic brake? How You have setted your brake? Any tip on how to set ir right? Thanks!
Thank you..owe you a cold beer!!
grate videos you have on here looking forward to the penn squall 11 coming over to the uk so glad they changed the mag position
Its basically the same reel as the 525 mag 4. Plastic frame and sideplates, same mag adjuster and mag system, just a different handle and colour scheme by the looks of it
Exactly right man
You can also use a rubber coated glove with the fingers cut off leaving just the thumb..
Great tutorial 🤙🏻
I appreciate it man!
