Keep doing all you do , I have become my own menopause expert and have learnt so very much from your continuing expertise that you pass down to us through your media platforms. This is,a,great format and I also look forward to your podcast each week ,where you chat to some amazing guests , thank you .
I really appreciate your work, in particular the way you have democratised menopause knowledge and empowered women to make decisions regarding their own healthcare, and of course the way you have stuck your neck out and provided individualised care to those for whom the rigid "lowest available dose" NHS approach hasn't worked.
I'm 49 and live in the US. I try not to get angry when I think about it, but I was only offered synthetic BC pills as an option to manage perimenopausal symptoms. Any suggestion of MHT/HRT to address them was met with condescension from my healthcare providers. I could have been treated and had a much easier time functioning on a day-to-day basis throughout my 40s had it not been for the ignorance, bias and dismissive attitudes so rampant inhealthcare.
I'm in the U.S. too. You won't find bhrt from most gyn's. You should seek out a functional or integrative medicine doctor. Insurance will not cover it. I'm also 49. It's made a huge difference in my overall health.
There are now telehealth companies, staffed with menopause specialists (MDs, NPs, and others) that offer FDA approved BHRT for women! Check out MIDI health, Alloy, Evernow, The Collaborative (Heather Hirsch MD), and others. Good luck!
Love the Q&A thank you Dr Louise I was wondering there some women that complain of having joint pain after taking hrt patch and progesterone is this a normal side effect 🤔
Hi . Thank you for all your help. I wanted to ask you, I am taking Evorel conti patch is it natural? Do I have to change it but I feel better with it? Can you please answer this question when you get a chance.
The Evorel patch contains Estradiol (bioidentical estrogen) and Norethisterone Acetate (a synthetic progestin). There is no patch that contains bioidentical progesterone. The molecule is too large to be transdermal and must be taken orally. If you feel well on the patch, it is unnecessary to switch. I take the same progestin because I am progesterone intolerant. Good luck!
How long does it take for a Testosterone cream to start helping with mood and muscle strength/energy? how will I know if I'm on an adequate dose? My provider is very nice but he doesn't really encourage the Testosterone...
Dear dr. Every morning i start with anxiety/ restless symptoms. After 2 pumps gel, it gets better. Is it possible that oestrogel does that? I thought only progestoron did that? And...i just started for a few weeks. Is it possible that i wont wake up with anxiety anymore when my body is getting more settled?
Please speak about hrt and onset of asthma. Started "natural" hormones which triggered mucus and swelling of the airways. Studies show negative impact on lung function?
If you are taking progesterone, A more common side effect is Cough or hoarseness. It gave me the sensation of not being able to catch my breath. Didn’t stay on it long enough to get an asthma diagnosis.
Hi Dr Newson, I have 2 questions 😊 We have oestradiol, progesterone, testosterone and prasterone (unless you are in Scotland, no prasterone here on the NHS). Do you think Oxytocin will be the next hormone of importance? And do you think thyroid issues are being addressed adequately? Thank you 🤗xx
Can you talk about progesterone intolerance and using it vaginally And is it actually safe and protecting womb? I had misplaced mireena , since removal I'm continuing on utragestran peasary 200mg put getting spotting and cramping and pms symptoms 😮 It's been a mth since removal will this settle down? I ve gone down from 4 pumps to 3 pumps estragel but now I'm getting flushing crawley skin!❤ Thank you louise ❤

Love this format. The U.S. is behind in women’s issues.
Hi Louise, thank you for all that you do ❤
This was great -- concise and thorough! I appreciate the Q & A.

❤❤ Louise I'm confused is evrol conti patches is that synthetic progesterone?
Yes. They are body-identical oestradiol and synthetic progestin patches.
Hormones and thyroid and skin issues please
