Honest mistake, E! I wouldn't sweat it. I don't even know the names of any of the band members, so you're at least 2 steps ahead of me on that! The fact that you are giving these groups exposure and actually listening to them is commendable. I think some self-forgiveness is in order here. 🙂
The confusion isn't really that strange as the intro showing Kevin doing cleans -- whether he sang them during recording vs the music video is another issue.
Thank you for your reaction and analysis of this song! As a Japanese, I would just like to point out that the word 'bun' in this song is not meant to be sexualised. As you can hear, it is not the English word 'bun'. It is a Japanese word that is pronounced like 'boon'. In Japanese, the word 'bun (boon)' is an onomatopoeia for a buzzing sound. So it can be said that in this song the word 'bun' is used for almost the same meaning as 'boom' in English.
I recall that the original word was supposed to be vroom but Japanese make the v sound like b in pronunciation. A Japanese voice actor made virus sound like birus when he said it.
It may not but it seems so when you hear the rest of the lyrics considering the context of the song, I am going to say because most of us are adults here, they are playing the inuendo of reference to Sex and reference to Dancing, its pretty clear what they are trying to get away with so many bands have done it, that is a trope in and of itself within Music.
I suspect the "bun bun bun" was intended more as an rapid explosion sound, like "boom boom boom", as a compliment to the "ra ta ta ta ta ta" of Electric Callboy.
There's just something so endearing about seeing BABYMETAL doing their usual well-choreographed shtick while Electric Callboy busts out their best dad dance moves in the background.
I think what a lot of people actually missed but is properly hinted at is also Momo's screams. As she's the one that can scream in Babymetal, they also included her screams. If you pay close attention to breakdown the 2nd "Are you ready" is hers. She also screams "Everybody" at the end (and camera pans to her as the part comes). Just thought she deserves some recognition as well! :> Edit: Also, since joining the band she's done some minor screaming already. A good performance to check that out would be Momobanger for instance (can also check Moabanger for that matter as she also gets to sing in another version of the live performance).
I noticed that too, I think Kevin's voice is just eclipsing hers with its fullness, but you can definitely hear her sharper voice through it if you're listening for it.
The live performance of Ra Ta Ta Ta at FOX_FEST in Japan was unbelievable! You are right. It’s a dream collaboration. Seeing Nico and Kevin dancing with BABYMETAL on the same stage made us all incredibly happy. What a fun and joyful moment it was! Although it was only five minutes, they gave us the time of our lives. The world needs this fun. BABYMETAL is touring the US again in November and selling tickets now. I already got mine and can’t wait to go to the show again.🤘🦊🤘
Every reaction i watch i come to the comments looking for this comment, after watching "Momobanger" , This song has been on repeat they both just mesh so well together
The second "are you Ready" is actually MomoMetal growling. (she has a knack for it) Also the "Everybody" part is her as well. She also does harsh vocals on the live version of Metali (feat Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine). They said in an interview recently that it will be her job to look after the growling side. Great reaction. Would love to see more BabyMetal breakdowns from this channel.
I found this translation of the Japanese part: Get hyped! I cannot but gleam. Get hyped! You will feel elated. Get hyped! You must get startled. Get hyped! I'm going to be mischievous and can you handle it? The magic of my smile reflects in your eyes and will tempt you to my trap.
@@tipips The shape changing kind, turning into beautiful young women and making men fall for them? That would fit. On the other hand, in one of their most essential songs they protested that they were NOT that kind of Fox, but rather megitsunes, i.e. real females. In any case, those verses are flirty.
I just love how Su-Metal's voice had matured over the years. Her voice is absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't agree more. She's a fantastic singer. This song is well deservedly one of the biggest things in metal since its drop.
I went and listened to early versions of Akatsuki and the most recent one I could find and the newer one (for me) both sounds better but also much more confident.
Tank's also said that there is TEN HOURS of behind the scenes on the making of this--who knows how much we'll get to see, but I hope that we get a full behind the scenes of this eventually.
It was also a big thing in mid-late 90's/early-mid 2000's in Australian night clubs. Kind of a nostalgic sound for me, cause I spent about 12 years working in various Sydney night clubs around that time.
@@Whiskers74 Yeah, music discussers with tenure sometimes refer to the "millennial Yell" and terms like that... I really love the whole thing. SO much cheer and energy. Nice to have music that makes you happy with no apologies.
I found this translation of the Japanese part: Age! Sparkling age! It's so fluffy! I'm so excited! I'm acting like a little devil, but is it okay? I lure you into a trap with the magic of a smile reflected in your eyes.
I'm anticipating that one like CRAZY i hope they make it really long like the Every Time We Touch one and really nerd out about making the song and the video, I would watch an hour of that
SPOILER . . . . . . . . . She didn't. Didn't even acknowledge lots of folks saying it in the live chat. Hasn't acknowledged it in the comments as far as I've seen. Here's to hoping she picks up another Babymetal song like Momobanger and acknowledges it there.
@@stefannilsson2406 I can see that, but it's clear to me that the second scream wasn't Kevin, it was a completely different voice. Having heard Momo scream, I can say hey, that's Momo; without context I would be how is this? But not long after you see Momo screaming "everybody" and the camera is on her face. I think Momo's sweetness hides her fangs and people don't connect the dots.
Oh my, at 20:54 when Kevin says (growls with electric cords, lol) "are you ready" its repeated by, I belive Momo and they both growl "let's go" together, if love to hear your take on her doing the growl with him, I love it, I didn't realize it until just a bit ago, love to hear your input, I love your channel
At the end when they are saying "Everybody" and it shows Momo-metal, she's actually doing the harshes there. You can find videos from their live performances of Metalli or when she got to do Headbanger and her harshes are INSANE. So glad to see her go from kpop idol/trainee to official member of BM.
Haha, your laugh at the breakdown was almost as harsh as the breakdown itself. :-) For me this song was the first time I heard anything from Electric Callboy, so I didn't expect much, but now I have basically been grinning for a week. It's so much fun! This came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I'm not a big fan of harsh vocals, and the disco elements have pretty much everything I hated about 90's Pop music. But this is not the first time that BABYMETAL have taught me to appreciate things that I usually don't like. As a BABYMETAL fan, it makes me particularly happy that we get to see the girls less scripted than they usually present themselves. They obviously all had a lot of fun during the making of the video. BTW, a behind-the-scenes video has already been announced, I'm really looking forward to that. I think the "bun bun bun" is just the Japanese rendition of "boom boom boom". There's no isolated "m" sound in Japanese, but the pronunciation of the "n" is shifting towards "m" when followed by certain "consonants" like b or p. (There are probably more professional terms for this, but my knowledge of Japanese and linguistics is rather superficial at best) Momoko has already brought some harsh vocals to BABYMETAL, e.g. in the live performances of the song "Metali" (see ua-cam.com/video/RIgjfGHgwDc/v-deo.html ). She actually contributed the second "are you ready" to this very song as well, at 19:00. And I believe she is also joining Kevin for the "everybody" at 22:57.
Bun bun (“boo-’n boo-’n”) is the sound of bees or hornets’ wings buzzing, whirling around of something really fast, or revving of a machine in Japanese. It also might be the boing of rah-tah-tah boing in Shakespeare’s King Henry IV Part Two which is his imitation of musket fire and, methinks, recoil, back when Japan was arming itself with such arquebuses introduced to them with Christianity . . .
Electric Callboys tour manager does reaction videos and reacted to this video. He said this is a true Collab, it's both bands song.. Momometal does a growl, check out momobanger, she got to take the lead in headbanger for her 21st birthday
I would love to see a video with Elizabeth breaking down Su-metal's vocal development over time - there are videos from when she was in Actor's School Hiroshima (ASH) as young as 8 yrs old, a performance from when she's in her mid teens - like Ijime, Dame, Zettai, from Sonisphere 2014, and something live from her as an adult, like Road of Resistance @ PIA arena - I would love a breakdown on how her vocals have developed and what kind of training she might have received - especially with how she (and Moa and Momo) might be training to accommodate the the intense dancing they do - especially with stamina and breath control. Would totally love an extended video on this. Also want to say - I would love a duet with Su-metal and Will - his cleans would absolutely complement her voice. Please also react to Babymetal's other collabs: Kingslayer (w/ Bring Me the Horizon - live) and Leave It All Behind (w/ F. Hero and Bodyslam).
The joy on your face in your reactions makes me so happy, Ive fully gone down the electric callboy rabbit hole and the reaction videos are so wholesome. Its crazy to think babymetal wanted to make a song like we got the moves and reached out for this collab. The crowd in their shared performances on stage are something else
I think, "Bun Bun Bun" is likely the sound of fluttering insects (in Japanese) It's just like the German nursery rhyme: "Sum Sum Sum (Bienchen sum herum). In Japanese, that song is translated Bun Bun Bun. You see Babymetal making gestures as if they are fluttering wings when they sing "Bun Bun Bun".
Glad you focused so much on the production. I think this song is great on it´s own of course with these great artists but the production level on this is so spot on that it really deserves all the praise and attention you´ve given it!
Yeah she already brought that harsher sound into Babymetal with her membership. She already did growl in Babymetals song Metali when they perform live, after the Kabuki part: Are you ready
But here's the deal, they've ALWAYS had harsh vocals in the band, from day one. Su has done it several times. So did Takemetal, one of their supporting band members. Several other Kami Band members have done it, too.
I appreciate your analysis of the song and video. I normally block all "reactions" of stuff, but saw your video was really long and gave it a shot. It was great to hear a break down and made me appreciate the song even more. I learned of Babymetal from this song and I fell in love immediately and started down the rabbit hole of their songs and history. An interesting point you brought up is also why I think I fell in love with them is not just this song, but all their stuff they are not "sexualized" at all and the fan base is amazing in their utter appreciation of them and even how they have improved as they have literally grown up in this group. They so far are the only group I feel are 1000% better live or at least watching the live recordings as their energy is amazing and the smiles will pierce your soul and pull the joy to the surface. And whomever did the mixing on this song need to win an award or two.
Welcome to the Fox Hole buddy 😂 I found Electric Callboy from this song, they're so great I'm OBSESSED I agree with everything you've said, especially them being even better live. I got to see them last year and I was psyched, it was everything I wanted it to be. Enjoy your Babymetal journey my friend. FWIW my favourite song is Awadama Fever, I am still trying to learn the dance from the live version (fave channel for that is Kiirokitsunesama btw, they do fantastic with)
This song is so fun. If you want to check out more of Momo's "fangs", check out the live music video of Metali or the fan recordings of Momobanger from the first day of the Legend MM concerts to see her go from Godzilla mode to kawaii mode in the span of a few seconds.
Just watch them now. Goddamn!! When BabyMetal first appeared I decided that they were shock bait and a marketing/promo gimmick, albeit a talented one. But seeing them working hard over the last few years, working on themselves, evolving, creating, and making it clear that they are genuine and love their art, I've realized I was seriously wrong. Huge, massive, major respect to them 💜🤘
16:20 The second "Are you ready" is Momometal growling, so they already do use the harsh vocals. You could also check out the live version of Momobanger to hear it done live.
Yeah, rewatch that part, Kevin's mouth isn't moving on the second "are you ready" and, if you listen to it over and over, especially if you isolate it, it's definitely Momometal. She has a unique tone to her growl.
Re: your supposition that BM may be introducing growls into their mix, check out Momobanger Legend MM live. Momo's 20th birthday performance of "Headbanger". you will like it I think. You will also get to hear her isolated cleans.
Babymetal has a screamer now in their music. Momometal is the new Harshness to Babymetal. She's done it a couple times already. It's also in the live version of Metali
This is like a super hot take because I think su is the best modern rock singer on earth, but I can see a world where I'm like 50 and Momo has taken over as lead because su wanted to do her own thing, and I'm totally okay with it. They're all so amazing, and Su was like 15 and decided to kill it from Day 1. Momo offers something darker or whatnot, and therefore moa is actually the goat and super, super underrated.
@@actuallynotsteveConsidering how talented and hardworking Su is, I'm 100% certain there's NO vocal technique she cannot learn. This is BABYMETAL, however, not Su-metal (solo act). They've decided to make growling a Momo thing. This is supported by what they said in a recent interview. They have to keep things balanced for the group dynamic to work. It's only smart to allow each one of them have their own talent/specialty.
@@i.shuuya3231 She could do that but some sounds are easier to do with different people. That is why they bring up Momo. To have those hard tones with soft.
In a recent interview Su-Metal said they are looking for Momo to continue to utilise her growl she's been developing and what Momo calls her 'character voice' in their music, so I'm excited to see what new sounds they create in future. It's becoming more and more clear why they wanted to bring Momo in as a full member of the group to continue their evolution as artists.
When you started talking about them adding harshness, Momo has been doing really amazing growling in their live performances and I always lament they leave those parts out in their studio version of the songs.
Love that you like this as much as I do, as I'm just seeing this for the first time. I've been listening to Babymetal since 2014, but this is my first time hearing anything from Electric Callboy. The video is so super fun! Oh, careful there - 4:45 .. kowaii means 'scary', kawaii means 'cute'. Babymetal is kawaii metal :) You're right, the production is phenomenal!
I've just watched EC reviewing people watching it and Kevin's basically admitted he doesn't use any fry scream technique he just screams until his vocal chords bleed 🤣
@@AshesOfArcadia While unlikely, it is possible to have the correct way be the one you just naturally tried also. Everyone mentions their kid being a gifted singer, but you dont often hear gifted screamer, but some have to exist lol
Im pretty sure the "bun bun bun" in Japan is similar to "Boom Boom Boom" in the States. It may be a booty joke, but all the interviews I've seen of the EC biys is that the bun bun bun folkowed by the whoop whoop were added by Baby Metal as those are both big in Japanese karaoke.
Yes. I have scrolled long to find a comment about this. It absolutely is to do with Japanese pop/kareoke culture. It's got nothing to do with bootys and it's really disappointing that she would use this as analysis without confirming this before posting.
@ThePotatoHoard I can't say anything bad about her thinking that. Especially when you look at songs like Tekkno Train and Pump It. EC is known for using double entendre in a lot of their stuff. So I'm not saying she is wrong that it may be a booty joke. It 100% could be both a booty joke and a call out to the karaoke culture. Was just calling out the references to it I've seen from Nico and Kevin.
@@scottk8638 whilst I agree I would also suggest that it is well known that BM would not be part of sexuao innuendo so it's stands to reason that she should have honestly checked that before posting. I would. The image that BM portray is carefully crafted. I doubt very much that they're management and team would allow that to even be a suggestion.
Bun and Fu were both added by BabyMetal for their karaoke relevance. They aren't EC original additions. They say as much on their reaction to reaction videos video.
For me this was the collaboration I never knew I needed, but damn did we need it. Until I saw the teaser I never imagined those two bands to collab but it actually makes sense. Both mix metal with other genres, both have alot of energy and fun. But I was looking forward to it after the teaser and they did not disappoint. You have more then one hook in my opinion, great harsher vocals, instrumental, metal, awesome soft vocals, and they work together insanely well. Especially Nico and Su sound awesome together, but you also don't want to forget Momo growl in this thing, because you can easily overhear them. I don't know if you can say a song is perfect, but for what it is supposed to be, it would be as close to perfect as possibel. Or just perfect.
Watching those videos I always wonder how much fun producing these colabs must be. Imagine those bands together in a studio just jamming and joking around. There just have to be some epic moments in there.
Im new to your page but i love these break downs and scientific explanations of how and why can sing like that and your reactions make this whole experience so much fun. Thank you!
D**n, So Cool to see Nico and Kevin TURN Around at the end of Video......Wow. Fairly good translation of the only Japanese verse (A ge) is slang for "(I am) feeling excited" [Verse 2: SU-METAL, MOA-METAL & MOMO-METAL] (A ge) Kira tto shichau [ (Excited) I'll Sparkle ] (A ge) Fuwa tto shichau [ ((Excited)) I'll Float ] or soft fluffy (A ge) Doki tto shichau [ ((Excited)) I'll make your heart throb] (A ge) Koakuma shichau kedo daijoubu? [ (Excited)) I'll be a little devil, but is that alright? ] Hitomi ni utsushita [ Reflected in your eyes ] Egao no mahou de [ With the magic of a smile ] English syntax= "With the magic of a smile reflected in your eyes" Wana ni sasoikomu [ I'll lure you into my trap ] vixens......(Over sexualization?) just girls wanna have fun. Its so cool to have Yamazaki Yusuke be in this MV Ratatata who was the antagonist in MC Thunder II (Dancing Like a Ninja), the second best EC beside Hurrikan combined with Neon.
Also Lemmy in the immortal classic, Killed by Death! Ok, so he rode a motorbike through the wall, but that was Lemmy. Also has one of my favourite growl/scream moments in any song.
I just came home from a week of camping for the "Rock am Ring" music festival and I got to see both bands back to back with both of them performing their song together. So I got blessed by 2 live "Ratata" performances in one evening! Thank you for all your reactions Elizabeth, love from Germany :)
Only came across Electric Callboy because of this song and I am now happily obsessed with their music. Going through some of your other videos on their songs has been amazing thank you.
Please allow me to say that your infectious love of music and passion for deconstructing and understanding the vocals and production are the PERFECT accompaniment for such a driving, fun and bouncy combo song :)
Saw Electric Callboy about a month ago in Chicago, hands down the best show I've ever been to, got to crowd surf TWICE! 🤣 The energy between everyone in the pit and everywhelse was just insane, I wish this song was out before to see it but I'd DEFINITELY recommend going one their shows!
I'm so obsessed with this song. It's forever in my head since it released. So catchy and so weird that it works together. 6 million views in 11 days too!
About the number of tatas in the title versus the lyrics. It is subtle, but the way they sing the lyric, they slow down the last couple syllables, as if they are actually singing the song title followed by ta-ta. Ratatata-ta-ta. Great collaboration by the way. Absolute joy to my old ears.
I saw EC last month at Sonic Temple. It was a warm day and everyone was bouncing for sure. They stopped the show mid song when a fan collapsed and got them help. Then they went back to 1000% energy!
Fun fact, since this is a colab, there was some diffrent thing throw in from each side, like the Electric callboy crew, made babymetal, do more of acting scenes, instead of dance scenes, like the girls just look surprised and stuff like that, the babymetal crew made a waauuu waauuu, sound like fyiii fyiii or something, because that a japanse thing it seems like.. so i think these colab projects actually move bands, to do thing the never would have done else.. Also the wall break Callboys was told, you got one shoot, if you fall or something we put it in the video anyway!!
In Japanese, they have "ha hi fu he ho" rather than "hu". So it's transcribed as "fu" but in this case it's pronounced "hu" which is the head voice sound they're making. Which is a karaoke thing and Japanese disco thing. Likely referencing "love machine" by Morning Museum.
I've never seen or even heard of Electric Callboy until this video but I did have the pleasure of seeing Babymetal during their US tour last year and yes, their live performance is pure energy. They're so much fun to listen to.
You should follow this up with watching KINGSLAYER, which is a collaboration between BABYMETAL and BRING ME THE HORIZON. I think you'd really enjoy the sounds that those two groups create together.
It makes me so happy to see Elizabeth just fawning over these 2 groups and appreciating this absolute banger! Also, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GO SEE BOTH OF THEM LIVE, I've now seen them both live, Electric Callboy once and I'm going to see BABYMETAL for the 3rd time in November. You will not be disappointed!
I just saw Electric Callboy live and you are 100% correct that they are one of the best live performances currently touring. I can comfortably say it was the best show I’ve ever been to, hands down, not even close. Go see them live. It’s worth every penny.
Your point about friendship over 'sex' was very valid. I love how Baby Metal have been overwhelmingly accepted by the metal community as artists, particularly by many established male artists. 🤘🤘🤘
JPop is very hyper sexualized and there’s endless documentaries about all the quite frankly horrors of that industry. And I’m with you, it’s awesome to see the metal community at large simply go “is this good?” “Yes” and that’s it. There’s this weird acceptance where the music is what you fight over, not the people. Reminds me of Rob Halford. Famously gay (and a big part of metal fashion) and what does the vast majority of metal fans call him? Metal god. And he even got to sing with Babymetal:) It’s also so awesome to see how much fun they have. Babymetal doesn’t feel like forced smiles and upholding an image. They are metal.
We will never have another babymetal again in our lifetime atleast..." Yes you may copy the gimmick" but you cant replicate the battle of these girls have been trough..
In an interview, Babymetal stated that Momoko/Momometal will be using her "Fangs" and doing more growls as a new facet to their music. Something that they were previously unable to do. So, it looks like you nailed it. Momometal also recently did her version of Headbanger where she sings lead and she does growl, although her voice is higher than Su-Metal. Momometal's growl is pretty deep. There is also a Moametal version of Headbanger, and she has a slightly deeper voice than Su-Metal and is quite beautiful too.
the history of the band name of electric call boy is absolutely a treat. they are the most accepting and inclusive group i have seen to date. might want to look into some of the stuff behind their songs. for example the song hypa hypa and we got the moves have some interesting stories behind them. so glad you are listening to them
What I really love about this is seeing the girls genuinely having fun. Babymetal always seem like they enjoy what they do but they're always very serious about it. Probably some of that is simply down to "idol culture" and image being such a big part of it, but seeing all of them smiling and having a good time feels so refreshing. Like their little solo part sipping drinks and making faces at the camera, it's almost a sneak peek into their real personalities. And there is no one better to do that with than Electric Callboy.
I was floored by Baby Metals english vocals in this. I didn't expect the english to come through so naturally. I've heard them before but I didn't think it sounded this good.
So I had once heard or read a long time ago (more than a decade) that in Japan they have classes in school where they teach the kids English and that it was a required class. I am not at all sure if it’s true but it would explain why English comes so naturally to a lot of Japanese singers.
@@samanthaleo2590 That's 100% true, same with Korea, a lot of these future idols, which is the Baby Metal people like Su, are trained to sing in English at an early age. The U.S. is one of the only major countries who doesn't teach multiple languages at an early age
@@Fishbone8891 then I am very happy to know that it’s not useless incorrect knowledge. lol On a separate note; love this song so much. It instantly went on my playlist.
@@samanthaleo2590 while this is true, it's not really the advantage it should be. English is pretty poorly taught in Japan, which is why a lot of westerners go over there for temporary teaching positions so the class can get more exposure to English being spoken by a native Japanese already has tons of words imported into it from English. They're written in a special alphabet called katakana. It's the same as the regular Japanese sounds, but written with different characters, so it's easy to spot an import word in text But for example "table" when written in Japanese turns into TE-BURU (テーブル)which back in English sounds more like "tay buh roo" "hot dog" becomes "HOTTO DOGGU" (ホットドッグ)as that's the closest you can get to the original sound with the Japanese letter system. Basically it would seem like every sound has to end with a vowel, with 'n' being the exception So they have a lot of English vocabulary in store.. but the sentence structures are also completely different in Japanese. It uses a particle based system. I think the only other language to use a similar system is Turkish. So learning English grammar is an issue.. then English itself is also pretty terrible as far as pronunciation goes.. with not much consistency when you see a word written how it may be pronounced by a native speaker (Japanese is extremely consistent there) The Japanese 'R' sound is also different to the English one. It's a mix between an 'L' and an 'R'.. imagine you are rolling your 'R' and it'll be closer. Basically you put your tongue behind your top front teeth on the gum in the position it would be an for an 'L' - but you say an 'R' So early on you'd see SU-METAL running into similar issues when speaking English - covering Judas Priest's Painkiller she would say "Painkira" at first, as imported to Japanese it'd be "pa" "i" "n" "ki" "ra" sounds. But she did indeed master this and later performances she was singing "painkiller" in a much more native English way So yeah.. BABYMETAL's English skills are much better than they used to be! They sing English in their songs beautifully these days. I think the age we live in where it's easy to be exposed to the language through youtube and so on helps a lot too (TV/movies didn't help much in the past, as there's a lot of dubbing in Japan.. a bit like Germany and their love of the dub) Cheers 🦊
I noticed in this one too how much Su's English/accent/enunciation has improved since the early days. Not knocking her at all, but she now sounds like a native English speaker to me. I was blown away by it.
@@timmooney7528 bro, I know. I don't need to watch a reaction for that. I've known it way before that. I was talking mainly, cuz Elizabeth mixed their names.
I really like when it's a PROPER collaboration, instead of just having the guest sing one small section all on it's own, and feeling like it's recorded totally separately. I like when the artists are actually singing together and doing a real colab like this
This, this is gonna be a good one. And the most anticipated one since Tank the Tech was able to react/comment in between his day job of being the tour manager/head roadie for Electric Callboy in Japan when it dropped.
I just came home from Sweden Rock yesterday and I saw Electric Callboy live, sadly Babymetal wasn't touring with them but anyway, they. were. so. frickin. GOOD. Easily the most fun I've ever had at any concert in my life by a LONGSHOT. Jumping, explosions, fire, dancing, confetti, singalongs.. YOU NEED TO SEE THEM ASAP!!
Fun fact I believe both BabyMetal and Electric Callboy are part of the same concert this Friday June 7th in Nuremberg Germany. Probably other venues too.
Su's voice expansiveness and low range has really exploded in the last couple years. Their December 2023 performance of Metal Kingdom at PIA arena, her lows made your chest resonate. Likewise Momo's growls and Moa's pure clean really shine in that concert. They performed RATATATA live at Fox_Fest in Saitama Super Arena the last weekend of May with Electric Callboy. PAL3-METAL
MY GOODNESS It's been so long since I hear/watch one of your reviews!!! So Lovely.... I love both bands!!! They MUST do more collabs! AAAAND, Go on tour together!!!!!!
To be fair I'm a huge babymetal fan and even have seen her growl live (I was at Legend MM) and I still didn't notice it was Momo on my first time listening to this song:D
Well, you can't see her growling at this point. What actually puzzles me is Momo growling "Everybody" into the camera and almost all reactors I have watched didn't notice.
@@GeekGearSynths Go listen to Headbanger Momometal version, that's pretty much the only other time she noticeably growls. She's a pretty new addition to Babymetal
I fully agree. That production is such a perfect piece of music. All came together and it worked so well. I think both bands have reached another level with that song!! Very well done!
I’ve watched dozens of reactions; you are the first person I’ve seen counting the “tas.” I had given up on anyone else noticing the seven tas in the hook vs the three tas before the breakdown. Not a big deal, but now I’m not alone!
I am mortified that I switched up Kevin and Nico's name in this analysis. That's a HUGE mistake, and I'm sorry to both of them for that.
You are only human :D. Also how good do Nico's and Su's voice meld in this.
pretty sure they will not be offended :D
Well, there goes any hope of speaking to them backstage at a gig... ;)
"My body is a weapon" is the best line ever screamed by a guy with a disco ball helmet and disco gloves.
Right up there with his “Choo Choo Choo”
Very deadpool of him honestly.
@jonathan1991z OMG, now I wish this was actually in the new Deadpool movie. It would be so fitting!
I have to admit, I slammed into a wall first time I heard this.. I’m still in pain but it’s a good pain 😂 (while dancing)

Thank you for this!
I recall that the original word was supposed to be vroom but Japanese make the v sound like b in pronunciation. A Japanese voice actor made virus sound like birus when he said it.
@@darkessraven That makes sense. A certain Vtuber "Bancho" uses that onomatopoeia to describe her revving a motorcycle engine
@@piratesezarrr there are many examples of this in anime and manga too. for example "kang" for the sound a gong makes
I suspect the "bun bun bun" was intended more as an rapid explosion sound, like "boom boom boom", as a compliment to the "ra ta ta ta ta ta" of Electric Callboy.
exactly , Ratatatatata is a Sound you make in German. shooting a machine Gun.
There's just something so endearing about seeing BABYMETAL doing their usual well-choreographed shtick while Electric Callboy busts out their best dad dance moves in the background.
I watched some of their reaction to other reaction videos. It was funny watching them bring up being "the dorks in the corner."
"while Electric Callboy busts out their -->best dad dance moves
Every time Kevin’s in a video, his choreography devolves into chaos and I’m here for it.
Maybe take to Broadway 🤔
Electric Callboy did a reaction to reactions. They tried to keep up with Babymetal...tried. 🤣
Niko and Kevin dancing in the back like dads dancing in their daughter's Tiktok video!

Did you notice how cool Kevin and Nico looked at the end when they turned around?
It's literally the most mazing part, just like in Apocalypse
Just saw their reaction to the reactions. Good to see someone doing the good work 😂
Turned out to be the best turn around ever.
LMAO I just watched that
Best. Turnaround. Ever. 😂
Edit: Also, since joining the band she's done some minor screaming already. A good performance to check that out would be Momobanger for instance (can also check Moabanger for that matter as she also gets to sing in another version of the live performance).
Now it also makes sense with the lip syncro xD
Hell yes. She should get all the shoutout for her work. Are You Ready and Everybody is as Baby Metal as it gets, thanks Momo.
Indeed, we need more Momo screams, she actually does it a few times in this track, but it's barely noticable.
I noticed that too, I think Kevin's voice is just eclipsing hers with its fullness, but you can definitely hear her sharper voice through it if you're listening for it.
oh wow she really snarled that out
The live performance of Ra Ta Ta Ta at FOX_FEST in Japan was unbelievable!
Youve been there... I am soooooooo jealous!
Momo does the harsh vocals on the second “are you ready”.
Also the "everybody" parts at the end of the song
@@Tyyppl Yes, both of them.
Also all the "everybody" parts at the end. The camera goes right to her each time it's said.

I feel that way about every Callboy song, lol. I end up just playing them on repeat...
That and the extremely disappointed facial expression, is what broke me. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for your expert opinion AND personal joyfull response ❤❤
To me, it sounded longer than it really was, which is saying something.
Kevin paid me to come say how cool that turn around at the end was
I grok this.
It is a absolutely fire turn around.
it is one of the turnarounds in this video
@@agamersdiary1622Perchance one of the turn arounds of all time
The second "are you Ready" is actually MomoMetal growling.
This was not the crossover any of us expected but by gods, it's what we needed.
I found this translation of the Japanese part:
Get hyped! I cannot but gleam.
Get hyped! You will feel elated.
Get hyped! You must get startled.
Get hyped! I'm going to be mischievous and can you handle it?
The magic of my smile reflects in your eyes and will tempt you to my trap.
The first time they got really flirty in a song. Our favourite girls have grown up.
Oh my lawd
The Editor for the live video version didn't put horns and wings on Su for nothing :D
@@ralfklonowski3740 they might also be referencing kitsunes.
She's always been a great singer. And now that she believes it too, she only got better.
According to Tank the Tech (EC's tour manager), apparently that "Ooo Ooo" is a big thing in the Japanese karaoke scene, so nice touch
Kevin and Nico have just released a reaction video to reaction videos to the song on the EC channel. They speak about this too.
Remember when Tank did reactions? Pepperidge Farm does.
@@Whiskers74 Yeah, music discussers with tenure sometimes refer to the "millennial Yell" and terms like that... I really love the whole thing. SO much cheer and energy. Nice to have music that makes you happy with no apologies.

Omg I would love to see a Hanabie reaction on this channel!!!
The fact that they managed to pull this through with one take wall breaks. The making of video will be *GLORIOUS*.
I'm anticipating that one like CRAZY i hope they make it really long like the Every Time We Touch one and really nerd out about making the song and the video, I would watch an hour of that

She didn't. Didn't even acknowledge lots of folks saying it in the live chat. Hasn't acknowledged it in the comments as far as I've seen. Here's to hoping she picks up another Babymetal song like Momobanger and acknowledges it there.
I missed that until I read this comment section. It is very easy to miss though and they don't make it obvious it is her.
Not obvious but they focused on Momo during those little sections, so I think that was a big hint.
(There are probably more professional terms for this, but my knowledge of Japanese and linguistics is rather superficial at best)
Momoko has already brought some harsh vocals to BABYMETAL, e.g. in the live performances of the song "Metali" (see ua-cam.com/video/RIgjfGHgwDc/v-deo.html ).
Momo does a few on this song.
I would love to see this as well
Easy . Su was brilliant and now she’s even more brilliant.
I've read before that Suzuka rehearses on an exercise trampoline, to really nail consistent smooth vocals despite the dance moves.
Yes!
I think, "Bun Bun Bun" is likely the sound of fluttering insects (in Japanese)
It's just like the German nursery rhyme: "Sum Sum Sum (Bienchen sum herum).
Elizabeth: This is going to make me grumpy for the rest of the song.
Also Elizabeth, 3 seconds later:
To be fair, this song kind of makes being grumpy impossible.
Forgets to mention it again, except for having to count BM's Ratatata.
Momo scream, breakdown part "Are u Ready" and ending part "Everybody"
Yeah she already brought that harsher sound into Babymetal with her membership. She already did growl in Babymetals song Metali when they perform live, after the Kabuki part: Are you ready
she also growled when she did the lead in headbanger live.
"Wait a minute... Let's go!"
Listen. Dunno where y'all getting "are you ready".
But here's the deal, they've ALWAYS had harsh vocals in the band, from day one. Su has done it several times. So did Takemetal, one of their supporting band members. Several other Kami Band members have done it, too.
I think it's adorable that Elizabeth, knowing Electric Callboy's propensity for innuendo, gets flustered over a couple of tatas.
Also highly recommend this video on who is singing what and a translation: ua-cam.com/video/CLXvJeIbwWc/v-deo.htmlsi=CbRz3V1XgOU0YePE
Welcome to the Fox Hole buddy 😂 I found Electric Callboy from this song, they're so great I'm OBSESSED
I agree with everything you've said, especially them being even better live.
This is what I was going to say! Her harsh vocals are really good
Nooo way!!! I need info on that
Holy sh*t - I didn't realize that. That's amazing.
Yeah, rewatch that part, Kevin's mouth isn't moving on the second "are you ready" and, if you listen to it over and over, especially if you isolate it, it's definitely Momometal. She has a unique tone to her growl.
@@nickydexgg4579 She calls them her 'fangs'. 😍

Babymetal has a screamer now in their music. Momometal is the new Harshness to Babymetal. She's done it a couple times already. It's also in the live version of Metali
It's twice or three times in this song. A few times in Momobanger, as well.
And in the foxfest live
Don't miss Momo's growls. She's a BEAST!
Second 'Are you Ready!'
This is like a super hot take because I think su is the best modern rock singer on earth, but
I can see a world where I'm like 50 and Momo has taken over as lead because su wanted to do her own thing, and I'm totally okay with it.
@@actuallynotsteve "I think su is the best modern rock singer on earth" - Don't think I've ever read a worse take
In a recent interview Su-Metal said they are looking for Momo to continue to utilise her growl she's been developing and what Momo calls her 'character voice' in their music, so I'm excited to see what new sounds they create in future.
Doubt it though. His throat would be ruined by now if that was the case, guys have been around forever.
He was joking.
Ah, the Devin Townsend way...
I have a friend who was the vocals in a hardcore band and he said that was his technique.
@@ElyonDominus yep, that is what I said.

Its so cool to have Yamazaki Yusuke be in this MV Ratatata who was the antagonist in MC Thunder II (Dancing Like a Ninja), the second best EC beside Hurrikan combined with Neon.
That breaking through the wall moment has to be a homage to the classic Aerosmith/Run DMC Walk This Way video.
That's what popped in to my head too!
Thank you for all your reactions Elizabeth,

🤣 Truth!
I'm so hyped for this one!! Best collaboration of the year.

This song is such a banger - can't stop listening to it. I'm glad you did a video on it.
Really looking forward to seeing both (hopefully together for this song on one stage) at the "Rock am Ring" festival in Germany this week.
I'm so obsessed with this song. It's forever in my head since it released. So catchy and so weird that it works together. 6 million views in 11 days too!
I swear I've already listened to it like 100 times since it dropped. It's like when I heard Silk Sonic for the first time.
100 times? Cute, that’s rookie numbers :)
Thank you great reaction!
In the next scene with the disco ball, "Are you ready"the next "are you ready" is the voice of Momo Metal.
Watching your videos has taught me a lot as a producer! Thanks so much for doing what you do!
EC's guitarist actually does the mixing. He also plays in Samurai Pizza Cats. Amazing ears on the guy.
You should follow this up with watching KINGSLAYER, which is a collaboration between BABYMETAL and BRING ME THE HORIZON. I think you'd really enjoy the sounds that those two groups create together.
Kingslayer feels like being assaulted by music but in the best possible way. It's amazing!
This song instantly went on my playlist. It is my summer fun jam! Love it! Thanks!
I dont think i ever seen you this giggly and hyped in a reaction as for this one love it ❤️
It makes me so happy to see Elizabeth just fawning over these 2 groups and appreciating this absolute banger!
Metal god. And he even got to sing with Babymetal:)
It’s also so awesome to see how much fun they have.
I think we’ve all been waiting for this one :)
the history of the band name of electric call boy is absolutely a treat. they are the most accepting and inclusive group i have seen to date. might want to look into some of the stuff behind their songs. for example the song hypa hypa and we got the moves have some interesting stories behind them. so glad you are listening to them
What I really love about this is seeing the girls genuinely having fun.
Elizabeth, you have to listen and analyse the song "Leave It All Behind", that is a collaboration between Babymetal, Body Slam and F.Hero!
Omg that was crazy
Also the first beats have a Katy perry fireworks sound.
Listen to both and compare
@@Fishbone8891 then I am very happy to know that it’s not useless incorrect knowledge. lol
On a separate note; love this song so much. It instantly went on my playlist.
@@samanthaleo2590 while this is true, it's not really the advantage it should be. English is pretty poorly taught in Japan, which is why a lot of westerners go over there for temporary teaching positions so the class can get more exposure to English being spoken by a native
Japanese already has tons of words imported into it from English. They're written in a special alphabet called katakana. It's the same as the regular Japanese sounds, but written with different characters, so it's easy to spot an import word in text
But for example "table" when written in Japanese turns into TE-BURU (テーブル)which back in English sounds more like "tay buh roo"
"hot dog" becomes "HOTTO DOGGU" (ホットドッグ)as that's the closest you can get to the original sound with the Japanese letter system. Basically it would seem like every sound has to end with a vowel, with 'n' being the exception
So they have a lot of English vocabulary in store.. but the sentence structures are also completely different in Japanese. It uses a particle based system. I think the only other language to use a similar system is Turkish. So learning English grammar is an issue.. then English itself is also pretty terrible as far as pronunciation goes.. with not much consistency when you see a word written how it may be pronounced by a native speaker (Japanese is extremely consistent there)
The Japanese 'R' sound is also different to the English one. It's a mix between an 'L' and an 'R'.. imagine you are rolling your 'R' and it'll be closer. Basically you put your tongue behind your top front teeth on the gum in the position it would be an for an 'L' - but you say an 'R'
So early on you'd see SU-METAL running into similar issues when speaking English - covering Judas Priest's Painkiller she would say "Painkira" at first, as imported to Japanese it'd be "pa" "i" "n" "ki" "ra" sounds. But she did indeed master this and later performances she was singing "painkiller" in a much more native English way
So yeah.. BABYMETAL's English skills are much better than they used to be! They sing English in their songs beautifully these days. I think the age we live in where it's easy to be exposed to the language through youtube and so on helps a lot too (TV/movies didn't help much in the past, as there's a lot of dubbing in Japan.. a bit like Germany and their love of the dub)
Cheers 🦊
I noticed in this one too how much Su's English/accent/enunciation has improved since the early days. Not knocking her at all, but she now sounds like a native English speaker to me. I was blown away by it.
Whoops Kevin does the harsh and Nico does the clean vocals in EC
Kevin can also hit the high notes as well. Watch Kevin and Nico's reaction to the reaction videos.
@@timmooney7528 bro, I know. I don't need to watch a reaction for that. I've known it way before that. I was talking mainly, cuz Elizabeth mixed their names.
@@Mei_L Funny how you get all defensive when someone corrects you... but you're in here "correcting" Elizabeth.
I have seen them three times and it deffs delivered! Their latest Australian gig is my favourite gig of all time. SO. MUCH. ENERGY.
I really like when it's a PROPER collaboration, instead of just having the guest sing one small section all on it's own, and feeling like it's recorded totally separately. I like when the artists are actually singing together and doing a real colab like this
Babymetal announced their US leg of their tour! Definitely making Indianapolis happen! I've never seen them! I'm freaking too excited!!
This, this is gonna be a good one. And the most anticipated one since Tank the Tech was able to react/comment in between his day job of being the tour manager/head roadie for Electric Callboy in Japan when it dropped.
Sugoi, fun reaction! Just bought tickets for BABYMETAL in Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Richmond, VA, and Washington D.C.
Arigatou! 🦊🤘
I'll be at Charlotte too!!! 🦊
@@feistyunicorn1855 Sugoi! 🦊🤘
I just love how Elisabeth's giggle turn into gremlin giggle of joy, that's adorable. Wish to see more EC and Babymetal collabs in future ❤
PAL3-METAL
Oooo I can’t wait for her reaction to this one. This one hits so freaking hard from the word go.
MY GOODNESS It's been so long since I hear/watch one of your reviews!!! So Lovely.... I love both bands!!! They MUST do more collabs! AAAAND, Go on tour together!!!!!!
That first transition from ECB to BABYMETAL just gets my heart pounding every single time.
This song is so good! I've had it on repeat for the last week and half!
Yea i think this is one of the best produced songs ive heard. The mixing is incredible
I find it funny, that people don't realise that the second growled "Are you ready?" is actually Momometal :)
She does the two of them
Wow, have to listen to more of her music.
