I love the dresser. It turned out beautifully. I love the way you compared your work to life. None of us are perfect and we all have imperfections. That’s what makes us unique.
I've just found you on You Tube beautiful lady.. this piece of art is just stunning.. and the message from this video is wonderfully honest.. well done 👏
This video was my introduction to ellen j good and your lovely family! I couldn't hit subscribe quickly enough. Both to your channel and your beautiful attitude to life. Thank you for allowing us into both!
I had tears in my eyes watching this! I so identify with everything you said! I am still half broken but through my art and craft I too am healing and putting the pieces back together again! Thank you so much!!!!
I just found your channel today and I’m binging watching your videos on decoupage and blending with paints , and you are the best teacher and artist I’ve seen. ❤
You not only have a way with refinishing but a way with words. Using flawed furniture as a way to describe how so many of us feel inside and how our imperfections make us uniquely wonderful. You are a true artist!!! Oh and your piece turned out stunning 🤩
You've taken something so blah and basic and turned it into a work of art. I really enjoyed your video. Great job! And I celebrate with you the things you learned about yourself...especially your newly discovered ability of letting go of perfection.
Sooo beautiful! Thank you for sharing!!!! I inherited my mom’s decoupaged trunk that sat in our family room for years and years. There is some damage to the top and some of the paper has torn off. This video was so helpful. First, it taught me what decoupage is and how it is done. I have more appreciation for this trunk knowing the effort, care, and creativity my mom put into it. Second, I am one step further to learning how to fix the damage! Thank you!
THis lady is finding herself through her creativity and it is shining through. What a beautiful honest spirit... as far the piece of furniture... what a beautiful honest spirit... incredible work.
I just hit my bell to get notifications. Listening to you is SO refreshing and freeing!!!!! That piece you created is a STUNNER!!!!!!! You are also!!!!! Blessings to you and keep those edges of yours soft! Not everything needs fixing ❤️
Kelli! Thank you SO MUCH!!! everything you said means so much! I appreciate you following along as I try to add inspirational content and projects to grow my new channel!
Beautiful piece ! Wow ! If I saw that for sale, I would buy it even if I had no place to put it ! As for working on ourselves, well, I have noticed a funny thing about people - some of us have absolutely no capability of inner self reflection - these people just don’t ever give a second thought to anything they do - good, bad or ugly ! Then there are those people who are in their heads sooooo much, examining infinitely their every thought & action - both of those are - to me - very hard to be around for long ! So what I try to do is not beat myself up too much if I screw up, give myself a little praise if deserved and go through life with a smile & a kind word as much as possible - I think you do a good job of that, from what I see ! Be as kind to yourself as you try to be to others ! And you are so amazingly talented & creative - that is truly a gift from God ! Blessings to you from sunny Central Florida ! 🥰
Love this Lynne! Thank you for sharing your heart! Thank you for being a wonderful teacher. Love seeing the up close shots of you using your fingers to manipulate the paper to get it just so and showing us how you blend the paint colors so it looks like an extension of the paper. Beautiful piece!
This was a sensitive and insightful approach to art and craft which really resonated for me as I wrestle with creative blocks, with each step of your process the piece became more lovely, complete and strong. I thank you so much for sharing this video.
I loved this video! I found you and Mint by Michelle by accident. You posted Waterplay that reminded you of your beloved Lake Ontario. It triggered an obsession - I spent summers on the lake for years with generations of my family from Oswego, Jefferson Park, Henderson Harbor.I ordered Waterplay and Girl on a Swing from Michelle not knowing you were a stockist. $80.00 later I was a nervous wreck and ordered Girl on a swing from you too in case I messed it up - I didn't - and these pieces will bring this 72 year old a lot of joy in Illinois - 3 years is too long to be away. from the lake. When I head back - Medina is on the way!
Oh my gosh!!! I’m so glad you found us! And so sorry I didn’t see this comment! We are all learning through the decoupage process! Thank you so much for following along . 💓
Ellen...I can relate to so many things that you did..and more importantly what you SAID! I've been traveling through a journey which I do not understand, but I've been brought to this place of IOD, DIY DEBI'S paint, and furniture...for which I dreamt of over 20 years ago...Long before my pursuit of sculpting and becoming licensed..which all came true...only to disappear because of a head injury in 2014. In 2021 I decided no matter how much I could paint, I would try again. Thank you for your inspiration.
I love this video. I have all these supplies but do not use them because I am scared.... Scared of messing up, scared that want I want to do so perfectly will not be achievable because I messed it up. I love how your minds works. I have a cabinet in mind that I stare at every day saying this will be the day I do it.... I think I am ready to do it. You are such an inspiration and you make such incredible art. Thank you.
Do it Robin don't hesitate anymore. Give it a shot, you can always sand it down and repaint, etc. Go for it, I am excited with you for what you will create! Enjoy creating!
Thank you for your transparency, it came in a time when I needed to hear it most. You had me in tears from my own self reflection but left me smiling from not only your honesty but beautiful job on your dresser.
Dee, thank you for responding. I think we all struggle with the same stuff, really. It’s mostly about fear of rejection and comparison to others which keeps us from the joy of “healing revealing .” We hold so tightly to the things that we think will destroy us but really, those things can only strengthen us when we let them go. Much love to you Dee. 💓
I actually starting painting for stress relief. After 20 years of marriage, I am now single. So I needed a hobby and this is where it has taken me. I am fixing myself and learning so much! Thanks for your honesty and vulnerability
This was absolutely one of your most stunning peices. I feel like the story with this work of art is what brings it together and let's both parts shine beautifully! Thank you for sharing this 🙏
Thank you Brit! Isn’t it true that whatever we create has a story behind it? No matter what it is, your story comes through! I emailed you about the gallery series and will touch base in a few days 😊💓💓💓
Oh my did I just learn a ton? YES I DID!!! YOU are amazing and you make us out here know that we too can accomplish something just as splendid. Thank you and big hugs to you! Your dresser is divine! Have a lovely week! : )
Wow thank you for this, I’m just about to start my own but have been putting it off as I was a bit nervous, seeing what and how you have done yours has given me the motivation to just begin and go with the flow of it. A new fan from the UK 😊 ❤❤
Wow Lynne! Not only did I love your piece and all the steps you took to complete it but it was more than that at least for me . Your brutal honesty about who you are the good and the bad I very much resonated with. Thank you❤️
I LOVE this so much Lynne! When I started doing classes, I found that SO many women have issues with needing things to be perfect. I was noticing that there was always at least ONE in every class that was REALLY stressing out about the tiniest little flaws. I found myself saying "its ok to embrace the imperfections" over and over again. One of my friends was in a large class participating and she said how she loved that I always told people to embrace imperfection- and it stuck as a slogan for the store. Once I opened the store and did more classes, I found that so often, the classes became a place to vent while we create sometimes. It almost ALWAYS comes up that things aren't perfect that we create- they are handmade by flawed humans and that there is SO much beauty in that. And because we are humans, we are all flawed. And there is so much beauty in that too! Self love requires embracing our imperfections as we continue to just be or best selves. I often say "5 cents please" (like Lucy in her psychiatry booth LOL) because sometimes, it really is a form of therapy when you get these women in creating art. They leave a little lighter, and their vibes are always a lot higher. I love what we do! Thank you for showing your human vulnerability Lynne!
Hi Melissa. You are so right! We really struggle with perfection and comparison. It thrills me when I do my creative retreats and we can talk about how to let all of if go. the great master artists had the same struggles! Best wishes with your workshops as you guide your lovely artists to discovering their unique talent 💓
I really admire your work, and your reflections. Embrace the wrinkles, you can't stop the hands of time. Kind of ironic that we create "age" in our furniture pieces, but try to slow down or stop the wrinkles and ageing in ourselves. Societal pressure? Anyway, this piece is stunning!
Oh my not-Ellen (Lynne).... I was so jealous of how beautiful your piece was. It was my bet for first sale of the day. I didn’t know you were dealing with an emotional baggage issue. And wrinkles are good on our face! Just like your piece, we are all perfectly imperfect!
Oh my... yes. It was a tough week prior to Bootcamp. It was VERY difficult to get on that plane! But what an incredible experience it was to be in the presence of so many of you INCREDIBLE ladies! I will never forget that week! 💓💓💓
I loved the things you said, and I love the piece you created... Thank you for letting me know my pieces don't have to be perfect, to be beautiful... Just like me...💜💙💜
I have so much excess baggage, I'm carrying it around my waist! I love what you did with this piece and I love that you learned something about yourself. Maybe one of these days I'll take a drive to NY to visit your shop. Summers are good for that and I am in CT!
Three minutes in and I’m giddy !!! First, I just adore you and your philosophy- but I’ve been so interested in seeing Tarnished Pearl paint up close and personal (after all, my family nickname is Pearli) 🤗 and I’m laughing because you address the thing that makes me “bleed” talking about always cutting up the paper to customize your artwork (let’s call it what is). I’m learning a lot about myself by watching you let go, be free, and trusting in the process and I’m only 3 minutes in. Be prepared for continuing comments…..🥰🥰🥰
