I love the R5 but Canon really needs a 6k version of the R5 to help control heating and boost sensitivity. I like 8k but seriously most of us just want it for the over sampling. 6k is just as good as 8k when it comes to over sampling for 4k. I process 8k raw from the R5 into 4k ProRes444 12bit and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything at all. The 4K internal fine mode is awesome but even recording externally it’s still limited to 10bit 4:2:2. The world really needs more compressed 12bit 4:4:4 options. I guess ProRes raw has that area covered to a certain degree. One of my only real issues with the older R5 is the signal to noise ratio even at ISO800. It’s what hurts what would otherwise be decent dynamic range. I would love to know how the range and signal to noise ratio compare to the older R5. For either internal compressed or raw video. That would likely be the only reason for me to upgrade. If I could actually shoot ISO800 C-log and not have obvious noise like I do now. I assume it’s better because Canon a;ways advised against c-log 2 with R5 raw video because the sensor couldn’t really handle it. If Canon put c-log2 on the R5 mk2 it must be better. By how much I’m really looking forward to a comparison. The R5C has the same sensor as the R5 and we know it’s cleaner partially thanks to the better in camera noise reduction. It’s also a bit better for an unknown reason even with raw video. I always suspected it was related to the bit depth it could process the raw video and potentially related to how fast the sensor could readout thanks to the better cooling.

Sony A7 IV is pretty good. Whipping the camera around when recording isn't really how most professionals record video. You also don't need the most dynamic range. It isn't the best but is far from the worse. Get it right in camera is the best way. I also shoot sports with it. High school baseball and the bats are straight and no funny oval looking balls using the mechanical shutter. Using the electronic shutter shooting sports will cause warpage but again I use the mechanical shutter. I've seen other guys use it as well with no issue shooting sports. I'm not a spray and pray type of guy. i normally can see the play happening and catch some awesome shots. Higher frames is always welcomed though but aren't needed to capture some great shots.
Great review! I'm considering moving from the R5 to the mkII, and also looking at the pgytech 35L or 25L bags. With respect to the bag, do you if the side access compartment is large enough to be able to access a gripped or pro size body attached to a lens (i.e. Canon R5 with grip and 24-70 f2.8L lens)? Same question for the top load? Is the camera bag deep enough for a gripped body with a L-Bracket attached? Do you know if the beetle camera clip can attach to cameras that have arca-Swiss tripod quick-access plates? I'm interested in the 25L or 35L focux, but want to ensure a gripped body with an attached lens will fit through the side and top access. The 25L would probably be a nicer option if it can hold enough gear, since I have a couple of bags in the 35L size range.
Have you found with the R5 Mark II in video mode, hand held, IS mode on and Image stabilization on the sensor is shifting which makes the image shake? Possibly fixed with a firmware update? Thanks! P.S This could be because I'm using a non stabilizated lens, RF50mm 1.2?

Hey Potato can you review the Canon R50 in a video. I want to get one but is it good for pictures and vidoes?
Mr Potato, can you do me a solid and let me know what beach or coastal area you’re walking at mark 18:00 pretty please 🙏🏻?
Checking back in, any chance?
I need to know if the backpack fits an arrriiiiii 😭❣️
Gene my hero :D
I was really considering this for my classroom. But, that overheating is such a turn off since I want to record school podcasts at 8K and then crop in as if it was shot with multiple cameras. :(
Then maybe better and also cheaper solution is R5c
@@TomislavMoze , considered that too, but didn’t have good enough photo features. I need something more equivalent to a Panasonic S5iiX, but Canon so that I can use all my EF glass more efficiently and effectively. I tried EF with S5iiX and it just too slow. I’ll hold off longer for Canon to get there. 😔
@@mrheng562 what photo features Are you missing on the R5c I mean the only difference between it and the R5 is the lack of ibis. R5c is an amazing camera for photos and it’s used by many professionals in different niches.
5:40 "i'm potato jet ! not Potato Crash" hahahaha
wanted to like start filming as a teen but the best thing i have is my nothing phone 2a being in India limits you a lot by what you can do like part time jobs etc. and the education system makes it impossible to follow ur dream fr
wanted a cool fx30 and a 18 to 135mm f4 power zoom hopefully ill get one in 10 years when i get a job
Has anyone heard about the R5 Mark 2 having a triple base ISO like the C400? I saw a clip about it and a canon rep saying it is there but hidden, and I don’t know whether to trust that and by the R52 or just go straight up to the C400😂 any thoughts? Thanks!
@@johnny_blz I dunno man, R5 have secret dual ISO but never shown on their marketing
Probably not, they marketed it in the c400
You are the best - really! What impression did you have about the (not oversampled) 4k 50/60p? Is it ok. The 4k 120p looked quite good. The lacking of 4k 50p in fine-mode is really my biggest concern about this camera.
As long i know there is a oversampled 30/60fps Mode. The manual leaked...
It’s line skipped 4k 60 just like before, if you need better video get the Nikon z8
@@jaegerschtulmann yes, yes, yes - that’s a hard one for a canon user but I am afraid the truth LOL
Higher frames is always welcomed though but aren't needed to capture some great shots.
ngeriview R5ii pake Z6iii.. super banget.. hehe..
What video editing app do you recomend, (looking to edit as well as color grade) any sugjestions?
Did you FPV the Car Launch event in Glacier View?
Have you found with the R5 Mark II in video mode, hand held, IS mode on and Image stabilization on the sensor is shifting which makes the image shake? Possibly fixed with a firmware update? Thanks! P.S This could be because I'm using a non stabilizated lens, RF50mm 1.2?
Can the R5II shoot bracketed exposures with the electronic shutter?
Canon’s infamous corner wobble is definitely reduced a lot.
but the a7s3 has 640 base log ISO :P 11:13
No cameras were harmed in the filming of the video.
The Sony vs Canon is just now more about personal preference. both cameras are so good that it really doesn’t matter anymore.
Sony has way more lens choice and freedom. So go Sony
Finally finally you are here 😅 I was wating like madmax for this video
I like it when the question Where do babies come from? is related to the newly launched r5ii
Did you put the Nikon z8 😢in the incubator?
Flying preproduction versions of my dream cameras on drones is such a flex
I never used digital IS due to the crop, I rather just use IBIS even if there is wobble
Did you ask if the fan battery grip batteries are hot swappable?
I've got a R5II, very happy but if I can give you an advice, GET A LOW RIDER S xD
idk but........... this camera might be super super solid
I’d love more inspire 3 content
How to play Hot Potato? Fly expensive pre production cameras over racing cars and cliff side ocean without crashing! 😆😀
