I thank Ray for his art, his music and his spirit he has lived and traded on to us. And so Jim and Robbie and John. You were and are legends and inspirators... and will always be! Michael From Germany
This has always been my favorite doors song. Ray by himself gave me chills. The lyrics got me, but it really was Ray's vox that got me the first time I heard the song. I've always admired Manzarek's talent.
I saw the remaining Doors play ten years ago and Ray said something there I will not forget, he warned us that the times now were very much like how the 1950s were and impetus to use the doors of perception so we should be very weary of it. He was so right.
I've just discovered this song The Crystal Ship and I'm so in love with it, I can't get enough! So great to hear a piano version with none other than the great Ray Manzarek playing! The Doors were amazing. RIP Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek.
The very heart and soul of Doors music- you experience the entire story, all else is supporting cast. George Winston, a genius in his own right, credits Manzarek for his beginnings.
Simplesmente genial. Um dos melhores músicos da história do rock. Tive a grata oportunidade de vê-lo com Krieger e Ian Astburry. Faz falta, mas muita falta.
Downright awesome because it sounds like a classical piece. Even though it came from a Rock song Ray Manzarek made it sound beautiful. The Crystal Ship is one of the best love songs of all time.
Before you slip into unconsciousness I'd like to have another kiss Another flashing chance at bliss Another kiss, another kiss The days are bright and filled with pain Enclose me in your gentle rain The time you ran was too insane We'll meet again, we'll meet again Oh tell me where your freedom lies The streets are fields that never die Deliver me from reasons why You'd rather cry, I'd rather fly The crystal ship is being filled A thousand girls, a thousand thrills A million ways to spend your time When we get back, I'll drop a line
If I had to articulate the level of love and gratitude that I have for my deceased parents and find the perfect way to convey this. Well, you just listened to it.
Far out. How great is this. Just realised again how great a part of The Doors Ray is... He takes the energy in the room and manifests it in keyboard music. Amazing musician and receiver...
What incredible musicianship!! Just beautiful and very nearly classical in texture.... Thank you Ray - you are so missed - just as my other main man - Stevie Ray (Vaughan) Must be quite a jam going on up in heaven.........
La única banda de rock ácido que combino el teatro con la música; un organo electronico excepcional que perdura hasta nuestros dias solo para gente que sabe sentir la verdadera música entre los ideales y la rebeldía solo se manifiestan en un intento¡¡¡¡
I saw Ray play solo at BB King Blues Club in Manhattan, over 20 years ago. This was the most memorable song he played for me, I think about it a lot. Thanks for saving this memory.
Thank you, Ray. No keyboardist has ever captured the ephemeral, the elusive, the indescribable, and made it so visceral and present, the way you did. My years on this planet were enriched by the collage of your fierce and tender explorations on seemingly infinite keys. Thank you again...my deepest respects and condolences to the Manzarek family.
that "YES" when he said the crystal ship, he made that dudes life
I think dude passed out as he yelled it 😂😂
@@ryananthony4840 no ….he passed away shortly thereafter…terminal cancer. TY Ray for making his day
@@Oh_I_Will wait.. no... For real??? 😞
I dug that dude's enthusiasm and yes that made his life for sure.
All 4 were crucial to the band as a whole, but Manzarek was something special in all of late 60’s rock music.
I don't think anyone kept the spirit of 60s music alive and embodied it more than Ray Manzarek.
Jerry Garcia... Keith Richards...
Yes yes Yes ........ ME
One of the most underrated musician's a pure gifted talent. You still got it Ray my man!! Way to go baby!! :-)
Correction: He still had it. You must not know he’s dead now.
After more than 40 years , now they are playing the greatest gig in the sky....
We miss you Ray... such a good person , R.I.P.
QUE!!!! YA SE MURIO!!! ES MENTIRA!!!!!
No is not a lie!!
+Purple Way T____T NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Ray’s Classical training on full display along with his love of Bach.
Absolutely he brought Bach to rock great observation.
I thank Ray for his art, his music and his spirit he has lived and traded on to us. And so Jim and Robbie and John.
You were and are legends and inspirators... and will always be!

From Germany
I’ll always come back to this video to help soothe my soul, please never delete.
Proud to say I shook Ray's hand and talked with him at a Boston area trade show in the 90s.
This has always been my favorite doors song. Ray by himself gave me chills. The lyrics got me, but it really was Ray's vox that got me the first time I heard the song. I've always admired Manzarek's talent.
The solo is sublime

Magic. The song which is the cure for bad mood. RIP Ray.
Wow...Ray had that meld between jazz and rock down just right...no one like them, ever.
busstopbilly - And classical - he was greatly influenced by Bach.
Beautiful melody, I want to learn to play this! Even without Jim voice, so hauntingly beautiful!!
I saw the remaining Doors play ten years ago and Ray said something there I will not forget, he warned us that the times now were very much like how the 1950s were and impetus to use the doors of perception so we should be very weary of it. He was so right.
this is so inspiring, really
Beautifull composition, & Ray was so gifted... All the four of them are/were. No other compositions excite me like their's.
Insane chills. My gosh this song is such a masterpiece.
What a great musician and such a kind person, rip
I've just discovered this song The Crystal Ship and I'm so in love with it, I can't get enough! So great to hear a piano version with none other than the great Ray Manzarek playing! The Doors were amazing. RIP Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek.

Inside this masterpiece there Is the best solo of the whole rock universe! Ray, will meet again...❤️
I can’t get enough of that solo. It’s beyond words. Beautiful. This man was once in a million talented . I only wish I could have met him just once
The very heart and soul of Doors music- you experience the entire story, all else is supporting cast. George Winston, a genius in his own right, credits Manzarek for his beginnings.

You mean there was no singer/writer on the planet more appropriate than Jim Morrison to support Ray Manzarek's keyboard playing.
One of my favorite Doors songs, played by my favorite Doors member.
When i watch this i think that this is the greatest song ever written in history by anyone. Indescribable beauty.
It seems life is leaving us behind when you hear and see these amazing artists gone forever.
I could listen to Ray play this over and over again if he were still here. RIP Ray.
A genius , of a musician!.....
Downright awesome because it sounds like a classical piece. Even though it came from a Rock song Ray Manzarek made it sound beautiful. The Crystal Ship is one of the best love songs of all time.
That is because Ray had classical training which ment he studied Bach so he naturally incorporated it into his arrangements he brought Bach to Rock.
He got me into playing keys ten years ago, changed my life forever.
Before you slip into unconsciousness
I'd like to have another kiss
Another flashing chance at bliss
Another kiss, another kiss
The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again
Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The streets are fields that never die
Deliver me from reasons why
You'd rather cry, I'd rather fly
The crystal ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
When we get back, I'll drop a line
The best keyboardist ever.He created a unique style, a sound that hypnotised you and made you come back for more. GREAT MUSIC! I will miss you Ray!
Jim was the words of The Doors, Ray was the music. Without them both there's no more Doors...now The Doors are part of the eternity. RIP Ray.
Man imagine how great these songs woulda been if Jim hadn't passed. Listen to how much crystal ship had progressed !! Jazz heaven
If I had to articulate the level of love and gratitude

What incredible musicianship!! Just beautiful and very nearly classical in texture.... Thank you Ray - you are so missed - just as my other main man - Stevie Ray (Vaughan) Must be quite a jam going on up in heaven.........
