As an owner of a Spider 4 I'm offended. It does a lot of things very well actually. It makes a great shelf, this one time we used it to stop the garage door from closing and its also pretty fire resistant.
I will say that after 5 years of owning my Spyder III, it still works perfectly. Definitely not the best amps for gigs or the studio, but for little jam sessions and portability, I dig em.
The best part of this video is the way Paul maintains a friendly demeanor in spite of the passive aggressive attitude in the room. I got the feeling Rob had a gun pointed at him the entire time he was sitting there. :)
lol rob is not making this guys job easy. so many subtle, and probably unintentional, jabs at the spider while this guy is trying his hardest to sell the thing.
He already hosts on a number of their shows in rotation. It's a good thing - especially with Pete. Then again Pete + anything is pretty much a good thing.
Well to be fair he is mostly only on line 6 videos because he is a line 6 rep... he is always there for line 6 products, not much anything else, but he apparently did become a presenter in june. He is a good guitar player though!
People have such smug hatred for these things. They aren't meant to be touring amps. These are for starters and hobbyists or just practicing, and they have incredible functionality in that purview. As far as touring goes and having a good live tone, one thing is for certain, if you're stuck using a line 6, for whatever reason, the audience won't notice or care about your guitar tone. You can plug into a can a dog food, they won't give a shit. Only other players care about that stuff. The general audience won't notice if you're out of tune, they won't notice a missing string, and they definitely won't compliment on your pure tube sound.
People can detect that it doesn't sound as good though. It's the same thing with acting, people can spot a good actor from a bad actor but they might not be able to point out exactly why they're bad at acting. A player playing out of tune gets noticed, but they won't know exactly what it is other than the fact that it doesn't sound good
There's truth to what he's saying though because guitarists are a prickish snobby lot with a lot of their preferences based on internal prejudices and bias rather than actual audio detection. Time and again blind auditory tests prove this stuff ... audiences WILL notice bad sound, but they're better judges of good sound than a lot of tone snobs.
I agree with the OP. I have used inexpensive modeling amps, even an old Rp7 valve. Not one person has ever said anything but it sounding fantastic. These are all of my friends, musicians included. True tone comes from your hands. If you require an Uber expensive amplifier to sound good, well, then that individual is not good. Players "should" be able to find solid tones out of virtually anything. I made a little amp with a 4" speaker and preamp from a boat, yes, a BOAT. It was ugly as heck, but even that was capable of achieving some good sounds. The only people who cares about your tones are your band mates and yourself. Line 6 is just fine for what it is, an amp that allows you to dial in unlimited tones. I like them, and I own one. Do I prefer tube amps and the like? Of course. But I know they are not necessary for achieving some incredible tones.
Richard Harrold I've gigged with solid state and valve amps for 20 years. I understand the difference (you know the one that you learn when you buy your first valve amp). Are you saying that line6 have produced a 120w digital amp that can't be gigged with? Better let them know.
its not the valves that make it more powerfull then solid state amps, its the trafo thats usually bigger an have more reserve to push more peakpower, watt per decibel is the same by laws of fysics no matter, so if a valve an a solid state amp both plays 120 db it require the same wattage..
@xxnonstopdancingxx......Yes....If you can't gig with a 120w digital/SS amp what is the point of making one, and more to the point, what is the point of buying one? Stick to making/buying 15w practice amps instead a range of "non giggable" amps of increased wattage. Makes no sense. Most valve amps I have tried are definitely lounder than SS amps but that has nothing do with with whether you can gig with one.
Rob’s a . . . (rhymes with banker) !! Paul is the talented guitar player. He was patient with the Andertons crew. Why bring in a very good Line6 rep into your business, when you’re hoping to sell Line6 gear, and then make a stupid video like this ? Foot / self / in the / shooting ??? !!!
As a musician without a lot of money, line6 was the only amp i could afford back in the day, and it's done me well for years, gigs and recording. ready for flak
i used a line 6 iv for a while when I first got back into playing. i never had any issues with it and used more than just one sound. it sounded at least as nice as some of the guys I played with using much more expensive gear.
For years and through many recordings I used an old POD 2.0 and you'd be surprised how many people complimented the sound. Line 6 makes good gear and changed the amp game back in the day.
I still have a Spider II kicking around for practice if I want to get some quick and dirty metal tones. My main amp is a Blues Deluxe and it's not so great for that sound, and it goes from too quiet to wake everyone in the house up in an 1/8th of a turn. When I need quiet rocking, the Spider II gets it done, and it was dirt cheap. The best amp is the one that gives you what you need.
I'm someone who uses a Rivera Knucklehead Tré and and a Mesa Boogie Mark V through a 4x12 Mesa cab for recording and most gigs, now that that's been said.. I have a friend with an old Line 6 Spider at his rehearsal space and I never complain when pluging into it. Does it sound as good as my expensive American made tube amps through a nice cab? No. But if you know how to use an EQ you can make any amp sound decent enough for practicing or a writing session. They're convenient and have some nice tones. I should also say I'm very happy with having my Line 6 M5 pedal on my pedalboard next to high end expensive pedals. Many Line 6 effects are quite nice.
Hey guys, I really appreciate that y'all have been doing reviews on a lot of solid state / modelling stuff recently. It's really helped my misconceptions and non-tube is much more in my budget. cheers!
guys, seriously well done. You managed to walk the line. You didn't over-hype or give in totally to the marketing Madness, and I don't think you will have left anyone confused about where it fits into the big gear scheme of things. thanks for keeping it fun and practical
Holy shit, this Paul Hindmarsh guy is absolutely phenomenal. I could listen to that looper jam around 26:25 for days... His phrasing is off the planet good. Such a great example of getting the absolute most out of every single note and where it's placed...
Had a spider 4, and i thoroughly enjoyed it for multiple years. I now jam with my pod hd500x to record etc. Awesome equipment, that is easy to use for all my needs. Its also awesome because i live in an apartment and use headphones without really affecting my sound and can still get great tones. Dial in your tone and quit bitching about the presets. If you can't get a decent sound out of that gear, at the decent price that it is...you probably can't get a good sound to begin with. Have a fantastic evening team. :)
I agree, the one tone i tend to have a harder time getting is a middle rock tone. You can get a decent one, it just takes some real dialing in. The cleans and the high gain worked very well for me.
Clayton Weare I'm not a huge fan of Line 6 speakers or their cab emulation. that being said, my podhd300 + $100 craigslist halfstack sounds better than my other guitarists dual rec. Not to mention their other effects actually sound decent. I can't find a better amp than the 15 watt spider to give to a kid that doesn't know if he wants to seriously play guitar. I understand why they get hate, it's the same reason car guys hate the Prius, because it doesn't do what they want.
For me, it'll never be okay, just as any practice digital amp. People always care only about how does the amp sound, but forget about that digital amps fuck your technique up. It processes the signal that's coming from the pick ups too hard (while distorted), which makes it forgive all your mistakes. You'll never get a good technique if you can't hear your own mistakes.
+V'yell Gohl you can use a semi distorted tone, that only breaks up when you play hard. you are wrong if you think modern digital amps don't allow for playing dynamics.
Line 6 have brought it back from the brink with this. excellent features and usability, and the sounds are a huge step up from the previous versions. there is now no shame in owning a Spider.
there's no shame... until you talk to someone who spends thousands on tube amps and 4x12 cabinets, and say that this sub-$400 range of amps doesn't sound as good.
Yes. There is still shame in owning a Spider. One amp and video doesn't reverse that. It still sounds like muddy fuzzy crap. Tube amps kill this thing. Always will.
Im collecting small modeling amps to decide which one to keep. I have the blackstar id core 40 v1 (with updated firmware), and siin ill have a vox vt40+ and the spyder v 60 to compare. Hopefully i can get the newest vox vt40x and a katana 50 too. I do like the blackstar id core 40, it sounds and feels pretty darn good but I'm not sure it's exactly what i want... It may be the 6.5" speakers, not sure, or maybe i just want more versatility, or maybe i just need to get better at guitar (that's definitely true), but i do like it. I don't like that i have to use the software to adjust bass/mid/trebel because it really really needs those adjustments to be more flexible and dial in what you want. It makes a huge difference, the isf knob is a great addition but it's not enough on its own. I'll try to update you with my impressions of the others all compared to each other. In the past i had a line 6 flextone 3 xl and loved that amp.
After two hours of cramming history for college/university I'm glad I can get my mind off things for a while with some wacky fun videos!! Thank you Mr.Chapman!!
Capt, if you really wanted to sell these amps, you should have left Rob out of the room for this demo. I think you've 'shot yourself in the foot' this time around.
Wow... People are idiots... I'm even a little offended by Rob Chapman. I am a professional musician. I can afford to play anything I want. I play Line 6 products. Almost exclusively. Big gigs, I play a Line 6 Helix through an FRFR, but currently for my local gigs I use the Spider V 120. If your in a cover band, you can't afford NOT to play Line 6. I have to sound like 40 different guitar players a night. There is no better way to do that than a Line 6 Helix. Second best way is any of the new Line 6 line. If you don't think the Line 6 amps sound GREAT, you've probably never played one. I'd put my guitar sound up against any tube amp out there, and when I'm using the V120, it weighs about 15 pounds. Thank you to all the people at Line 6. Usually, I'd say thank you to the Anderton crew too, but I thought you guys kinda treated this amp poorly even though you both clearly enjoyed it.
I agree with you Chris. Was this video about Rob Chapman, or the Spider amp ? Paul Hindmarsh was extremely patient, especially with all the snide and unhelpful smart-arse comments regarding previous Spider amps, and Mr Chapman trying to be funny. I thought the amp sounded pretty good overall. Generally I like Andertons video’s, but it wasn’t until Paul started to demo the amp features, that it became worth watching.
@@Tom-dz5vi actually line 6 make something called a spider valve and its 30-something watt tube amp with all the built in stuff you'd find on the spider v amps. and they're super affordable
Refreshing to hear a demo from this site once in a while that isn't full cranked vol/gain so you can actually hear some of the tone. Great idea - the FRFR for acoustic.
If i was starting out and wanted to have FUN .. why wouldn't I buy one of these? Yamaha (and Andertons) are going to sell these by the bucketload - I bet the 60 is the biggest seller - and good luck to them. If it lets you have FUN, play some music and get you motivated then it gets my thumbs up. Better to be in front of a Spider V being creative than in front of an Xbox ...... For the target market I think this looks like an absolutely brilliant bit of kit and a definite win. Before you flame me I should point out that I prefer my Fender blues deluxe with my LP custom and Strat Highway with a Boss BD2 or Ibanez 808 which I have been abusing for years---- BUT ------ Im 50 years old with a healthy disposable income not a beginner or a teen with a sky high ambition and limited budget. If I was either I would get one of these in a second .......
The Looper Jam was a great! Now let´s wait what Glenn says about it =D ..but still before I would by this thing (+pedalboard), better save some more money and buy a helix.
My brother had the V60, we used it a month and did not find anything interesting. It sounds completely flat and digital. We sold it almost half the price because nobody wanted it.
This is all I heard from the amp: "Loin Seeks" "Tuer-hondrid ploss omps eefeeks". "My wahliss" "Feesh un cheeps" "Queed" "Etauh" "Fowtee" Line6 needs to make an affordable translator.
Paul killed it !!...this video sold me on the spider v and the fbv 3 pedal went straight out and got them idk why people hate on line 6 it’s perfect for someone like me that just wants to play in my bedroom and get better
The spider is a good amp for people who can't go around buying tons of pedals, or have the money for amazing tube amplifiers or for people who only play guitar for fun. But for other guitarist who put more time and money into tone then of course this isn't the best amplifier.
I'm not saying its the best. Shoot i'm not even trying to say that its good. my point is that its good enough. the reason so many people buy them is because they're cheep, they have a lot of stuff in them and they're literally everywhere. Most people that have these amps just have them because once they were eager to learn and now they have them in their room as decoration. line 6 knows this. so they added more stuff to it that looks cool and flashy, and also includes stuff for the player that breaks the chain and continues with his/her guitar quest and opens their mind to the different effects and how they work. eventually that guitarist will get better equipment and realize that the the spider was a good stepping stone for them to be curious and excited enough to continue. I have never had a spider but I have many friends who did, most of them quit after a couple of months, but others moved on and eventually got better things.
I'm so tempted to put this on my buy list, I have (had until it was stolen) a Spider Jam and it was great for sitting at home jamming and practicing. I now have a POD HD with floorboard that I use in Studio...bvut man that App and wireless feature is so tempting...along with the hundreds of amp models, effects, and cloud downloading direct to app/amp...this unit seems like a studio tech's dream...Tone snobbing aside...
Really good video. I am not a Line 6 Spider fan by any means, but the ones I've played have their pros. Cheers on iterating what they have done well with this one. If anything, the spiders do have a unique voice. And I noticed that they managed to keep that and make the upgrades necessary to improve the learning experience for their target audience mentioned at ~ 8:00
Bea got it right in setting up the audio for this video. In other, earlier (and recorded by others) reviews, the amp sounded digital and thin... What he did here that no one else has attended to is mic'ing the treble horn off-axis. Straight on, it sounds harsh. The way Bea set up this recording, it blends well, and actually contributes to the tone as it was intended. Great job!!
You know it's a meh product when the rep has to be there for the review... and it doesn't sound really good... In the price range the Katana sound way better
are some people disliking this video because they don't like the sound? like the video for being a good representation of that... gah also the best thing about "normal" amps is that they'll never be out of date. I don't want my phone anywhere near my amp..
Sounds fairly decent for home practice and small gigs, for sure. I still want the Katana more, though. I think the Katana sounds better, plus it's simpler. :D
His statement was actually a relatable one "I know there's tuff professional critics out there but so many can really benefit from this. If I was a beginner I'd choose it."
I run 2, 2 x 12 Spider Valve combos live - £200 a pop. The Celestion Vintage 30's are worth £160 at least, takes pedals really well, loud enough for big outdoor stages. What's not to like?
not you're not mate, i love my spider iv 150, and if you play with it enough it get spits out great tones across the board, nearly as good as my randall. people throwing off on it most of the time have never even owned one.
I have been playing guitar for nearly 50 years and i love the spider 4 and 5!!! The people making negative comments are mindless repeaters regurgitating elitist comments they have seen on the web, somehow believing that this makes them an elite player. LAUGHABLE.... the only bad amps i have ever encountered were peavey and carvin...
The clean and crunchy tones are nice, but we've been having nice clean tones since the 80's. But the metal tone just sounds way too processed and harsh, and maybe its just MY ears, but I hear almost a sort of "whistling" tone in the mid-range :/
This affordable modeling amp doesn't hold up to a high end boutique amp! Burn it with fire!! People need to chill out. It's a practice amp, meant for practicing, not touring and gigging. It's FINE!!! If Fractal made one, it would sound a bit better, and cost $1000 vs $400. #Truth
Bass Sauce First "Tube? Yuck" Secondly, that's one amp. This is multiple, plus FX. I don't think anyone goes into buying a Spider thinking they've got a monster amp, that's touring and big studio ready.
I'm sorry but Chappers was a bit rude and disrespectful throughout this whole video. Saying that you had a spider at the age of 20 (which is probably the core target market for this amp) and then going on to make constant sly remarks about it is a bit below the belt. Of course there are better sounding amps out there, but it's not for the 'connoisseur' it's an amp for a guitarist finding their feet and their 'sound'. Plus Paul did a great job of selling it!!
Exactly, Alex. But don't forget, it's also about Line 6 finding their way into your wallet and leaving you with a shit amp. I know, because I owned one. If you want QUALITY at a low price, go for PEAVEY.
Thanks for the demo, I just got the 120 and i didn't have a clue, now I do. Glad I got it. I gave my Marshall half stack to my grandson who is in a band that actually plays around and they need the use the size to attract the ladies. Besides that they are very good and getting better. Unlike myself who played in a cover band for years,, they have never played a cover n=tune all original.
Very nice practice and even small room gig amp by the looks and sounds of things. I appreciate that you remembered to mention that the board and wireless are extra. It would be interesting to side-by-side this with a comparable Mustang. I'm sure that cost is what prevents a Bluetooth interface at this price point, but it would be interesting to have that as an option. Thanks for the info.
People need to remember this is aimed at the young, bedroom guitarist. £170 for a 30watt combo with built in effects is a bargain. Yes, it's not going to sound as good as you £800 Marshall/Fender/whatever through a Celestion loaded 4x12. It's not meant to.
This video was awesome and helped a lot. I wanna get in to finding the perfect amp for me and this new Spider V gives you the ability try so many variations without breaking your bank account. Also this will help help me figuring out how to use loopers and the many effects to help me figure out my sound. I ended up getting the 240w just because (a trade in to get it for under 250 helps). Look forward to all your videos Rob Chapman!
People trying to defend the spiders saying: "it doesn't sound great cause it's a cheap practice amp". Too bad a Cube, Vypyr, Marshall Valvestate, Kustom Quad or pretty much anything else will crush the spider.
As an owner of a Spider 4 I'm offended. It does a lot of things very well actually. It makes a great shelf, this one time we used it to stop the garage door from closing and its also pretty fire resistant.
Best comment here!
Great comment, you just made my morning.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have been meme-o-tized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should win a prize from the Captain for that gem.
i use mine as a warning triangle
that looper demonstration was absolutely stunning. Paul is a beast on guitar
I will say that after 5 years of owning my Spyder III, it still works perfectly. Definitely not the best amps for gigs or the studio, but for little jam sessions and portability, I dig em.
ToxicxEternity i've had my iii a long time too, almost 10 years.. still works..
Same here ! Plus, with a Blackstar HT Metal pedal through clean channel it sounds greater !
My brother-in-law still has my ii.
I have a television from '92, still works.
I've kept mine just in case the Insane setting becomes some sort of fabled cult mythology amongst guitar amp aficionados 30 years from now.
the best part of waking up,
is Chappers and the Captain in your subscription box.
Quality breakfast.
Arthur H. Furtado you were supposed to.
The best part of this video is the way Paul maintains a friendly demeanor in spite of the passive aggressive attitude in the room. I got the feeling Rob had a gun pointed at him the entire time he was sitting there. :)
I love my Line6 Spider IV. I also love it when you guys have Paul in. Humble and excellent player.
Paul's looper part was amazing! So beautiful, damn!
lol rob is not making this guys job easy. so many subtle, and probably unintentional, jabs at the spider while this guy is trying his hardest to sell the thing.
Pints of Guinness you must be new here.
actually ive been watching these guys since about 2012
Then you would know this is rob joking with a friend and co worker. Hes making pauls job enjoyable
Nah, he's totally cracking down on him.
I think Rob is also a wee bit intoxicated and making it harder to hold back from roasting line 6 lmao
Line 6 is the charcoal of the amplifier world.
Hank Hill people would use other stuff if the price of charcoal wasn't somewhere down under?
whats the propane of the amplifier world
Orange.
Marshall.
Hank Hill kemper
Paul just needs to be a part of the andertons crew at this point honestly
He already hosts on a number of their shows in rotation. It's a good thing - especially with Pete. Then again Pete + anything is pretty much a good thing.

Bats good ole' mr. Fricker
Bats lmao
Hmm, more like 'boiled in milk until cooked and thoroughly softened' assholes.
Nah, kidding. Deep fried until charred. Bunghole pork scratchings.
Bats fried assholes pt2
Shut up you thin stringed peasant!
Rory's editing is becoming the star of these videos.
The troll was strong with Rob this episode.
Not just me then.... Rob was definitely not his usual self .
Tony Wardle I thought the same thing. I was thinking the whole time, "wow Rob is really annoyed today."
i'm into the same
I think it's refreshing that someone is genuine unimpressed when it sounds as artificial as the gain sounds of that line 6 amp.
dejongeblondegod look at SpectreSoundStudios honest gear review of it
That looping demo was bloody impressive. Some really nice playing by Paul.
I only play guitar in Rock Band 3, but some Canadian tub with witch hair says I should really hate this amp so I'm here to do that.
LMAO- well said. Haters gonna hate.
this vid is one the finest you guys have made, paul is a badass guitar player along with capt lee and rob, excellent work gentlemen

When Rob said "I'm not the target market, I'm a gigging musician" I could feel Paul's pain, the 120w "non gigging amp" apparently.
Richard Harrold I've gigged with solid state and valve amps for 20 years. I understand the difference (you know the one that you learn when you buy your first valve amp). Are you saying that line6 have produced a 120w digital amp that can't be gigged with? Better let them know.

doesn't really matter when you're playing live your amp either gets mic'd or goes straight to the board

so why do so many Digi-amps sound so crummy?
Rob couldn't be more uninterested, unimpressed and bored. Kinda took the fun out of the video.
Take a look at the Kemper video they did (solid state done proper) and you'll see why he wasn't too excited about another Line 6 Spider.
Extremely painful to watch.
Yeah some jokes were bordering rudeness IMO.
I also didn't like how he wanted badly to try the insane amp setting and then when they ask him to do it he just shrugs it off and says no.
he probably didn't really want to try the insane setting. just making a prickish joke

you got a giggle for the coffee mug. well done editor
Joe Van Deventer gets me every time : )
Joe Van Deventer woops spoke too soon thought you were talkin about the coffee smash sound they always do : )
I laughed so hard.
"A"z..
Lie 6 has always made some nice modeling amps. Great video and thanks for the lesson.

Clayton Weare My spider 4 head has a really good metal tone with a very tight bottom end. I love it for metal and cleans but in between its iffy.
I agree, the one tone i tend to have a harder time getting is a middle rock tone. You can get a decent one, it just takes some real dialing in. The cleans and the high gain worked very well for me.
Clayton Weare Yeah
Clayton Weare I'm not a huge fan of Line 6 speakers or their cab emulation.
that being said, my podhd300 + $100 craigslist halfstack sounds better than my other guitarists dual rec. Not to mention their other effects actually sound decent. I can't find a better amp than the 15 watt spider to give to a kid that doesn't know if he wants to seriously play guitar.
I understand why they get hate, it's the same reason car guys hate the Prius, because it doesn't do what they want.
If Glenn likes it, only then it'll be OK
I'm waiting too
my guess is he'll say its better than the Spider ii and recommend it to starters but say its not great for gigs and its pretty iffy for recording.
+V'yell Gohl you can use a semi distorted tone, that only breaks up when you play hard. you are wrong if you think modern digital amps don't allow for playing dynamics.
meh I won't care still I'm saving for a 6505 cause I'm not a scrub
Gotta say though, Paul is an amazing guitarist.
By a mile better than Rob Crapman
What Acoustic song is Paul Playing please ? I know I should know.
definitely true, his jam at about 26:30 is absolutely gorgeous
Line 6 have brought it back from the brink with this.
excellent features and usability, and the sounds are a huge step up from the previous versions.
there is now no shame in owning a Spider.
CSGuitars so basically what you're telling me is... It'll shred.
I can neither confirm, nor deny...
CSGuitars ALL THE GAIN! sorry... had to
there's no shame... until you talk to someone who spends thousands on tube amps and 4x12 cabinets, and say that this sub-$400 range of amps doesn't sound as good.
Yes. There is still shame in owning a Spider. One amp and video doesn't reverse that. It still sounds like muddy fuzzy crap. Tube amps kill this thing. Always will.
"i love lamp" love it Chappers!
Sorry, it's horrible for hi gain tones.
Line6 was the pioneer of modelling, it's sad to see they couldn't keep up with their own idea.
My vox blows it away
glenn fricker was right at first i thought iwas was the mic on his show but it does sound like fried things
Yep. I was thinking that too. I have a VT50 and it is beautiful. This Spider sounds thin and spineless
Paranormal Response I have the ad50vt with the metal diamond grill. Sounds 1000 times better
These sort of amps are perfect for the corner of the lounge, everything in one box and no leads. Paul plays beautifully
Bambecameling - that should be voted word of the YEAR!!
No! Anyone over the age of 12 who utters such childish crap should be hung at dawn.
After two hours of cramming history for college/university I'm glad I can get my mind off things for a while with some wacky fun videos!! Thank you Mr.Chapman!!
Paul's playing really is a different class
Goose bumps listening to Paul's guitar playing, a master class.
Capt, if you really wanted to sell these amps, you should have left Rob out of the room for this demo. I think you've 'shot yourself in the foot' this time around.
I have a Spider v60 and love it. Best $300 spent
I know everyone always says it but Paul really is an incredible player!
I know its been a while but Chappers! your hair looks so much better! Thanks for the great videos on products.
Chris Taggart ok I agree line 6 are great amps however, they are not as good as a good tube amp or Marshall stack
Robert Smith (The Cure) just played Sydney with a wedge of these behind him. A bloke who can afford any amp he wants!! Sounded awesome
The speakers are crap, but the tones are OK if you can bypass the cab portion.
@@Tom-dz5vi actually line 6 make something called a spider valve and its 30-something watt tube amp with all the built in stuff you'd find on the spider v amps. and they're super affordable
Just ordered. This will be my second spider ! Never disappointed
Captain: (to Chappers) Do you wanna play on this thing?
Chappers: No, it's fine. Absolutely not. No.
And that about sums it up.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Line 6. I love my Firehawk. The simplicity and options available are mind blowing.
When the bloke switched to the Les Paul the look on Chappers face was like "woah this thing sounds like piss" lol
Rob: "We're here to *Tele* all about...."
I wonder how many of those puns I've missed over the many videos I've watched.
(**9 seconds in**) ...the look of fear and uneasiness is very visible on the dealers face. He's ready for mockery...the feels dude.
the new spider sounds great and has tons of useful features. Great reboot of the series!
It is all fine until you turn up the gain, the clean sounds are solid, but the high gain just isn't.
yeah so get a boss metal zone for all your tasty high gain sounds /s
ALL THE GAIN!!! NO MIDS!!!!
SLAYERRRRRRRRR
+Tom Laspisa you will not be haired
@@Brabdo exactly. When used properly the boss metal zone is way better than any line6 I've ever tried.
I haven't watched this yet, but let me guess. Rob says "wow, this is really cool man, I didn't think it would sound this good"
The Looper Jam was a great! Now let´s wait what Glenn says about it =D ..but still before I would by this thing (+pedalboard), better save some more money and buy a helix.
I wouldn't buy a helix either tbh
I want the looper jam to be a full song, the tones were so satisfying.
Yay! Mr Hindmarsh, fantastistic creative overdub, like it !!: )
Come on guys, the majority says it's bad, and it's bad. :/
it's like a fart: if u have to push it, maybe is shit.
Bruno Romagnoli have you played one?
My brother had the V60, we used it a month and did not find anything interesting. It sounds completely flat and digital. We sold it almost half the price because nobody wanted it.
Bruno Romagnoli LOLLL
It hasn't even been out a month.
Bruno Romagnoli what, like valve amps? Haha
That edit with the mug was Hilariously entertaining! xD
This is all I heard from the amp:
"Loin Seeks"
"Tuer-hondrid ploss omps eefeeks".
"My wahliss"
"Feesh un cheeps"
"Queed"
"Etauh"
"Fowtee"
Line6 needs to make an affordable translator.
even Chappers knows Paul is so friggin good. I could listen to him all day
Got that thumb up because of this hillarious cup xDxD still laughing about the crash sound :D
But for other guitarist who put more time and money into tone then of course this isn't the best amplifier.
but there are things like Roland cubes and Marshall codes that are better version of the spider
and the Peavey Vyper series
no, the spider is a shit amp compared to other amps in its class, like the vypyr. i know, i had one...
A decent Marshall or Blackstar are way better than the Line 6's. The thing Line 6 has, it's really programmable. But even then, buy a rack amp...
This actually sold me on picking up a Spider V as a practice amp...good job!
Wait...nevermind..I just heard those high gain tones...
David Lacombe get a boss katana ^-^
Did!And it's fudging amazing....
Boss Katana ....essaie le tu m'en donneras des nouvelles...
Is Chappers becoming a bit of a Prima Donna these days with his singing and touring? He brings it up every 5 minutes. LOL
I love my new Spider V Mk2 30W, use it every day in my living room.
Jayzus... everyone's a tone snob these days.
I'd be happy if they brought back the Flextone II 92nd.
Really good video. I am not a Line 6 Spider fan by any means, but the ones I've played have their pros. Cheers on iterating what they have done well with this one. If anything, the spiders do have a unique voice. And I noticed that they managed to keep that and make the upgrades necessary to improve the learning experience for their target audience mentioned at ~ 8:00
Say what you want, but you can use the Spiders to get a wicked Dimebag-esque tone
Super_Guitar_Dude That's because for all of Dime's talent, his tone was always hot garbage.
Super_Guitar_Dude umm. Dime's tone was just awful
Tone is subjective guys :) let's not go into this arguement again
Yup...solid state goodness.
I love dimes tone.
Jesus wept, that loop section was phenomenal playing and sounding!
bring in Glenn Fricker on all the Line 6 reviews pls
Sound pretty nice:) this is a great improvement from line 6, please keep it on
Nobody could have actually watched the entire video yet...
Jack D. Ripper I've watched it 3 times
Wow I already watched it in double speed
I've watched it, btw have a great day
much love from a small British youtuber
Dixon R. Buttz 😂 lmao
10.04 bailed out.
Great job!!
still sounds like absolute shit to me
They totally avoided hi-gain tones as it still does FIZZ well apparently
*fried assholes
You know it's a meh product when the rep has to be there for the review... and it doesn't sound really good... In the price range the Katana sound way better
i hate line 6, but come on, youve got defqon for you picture mate, can you really say that?
Sounds like a 10w Fender amp tbh.
are some people disliking this video because they don't like the sound? like the video for being a good representation of that... gah
also the best thing about "normal" amps is that they'll never be out of date. I don't want my phone anywhere near my amp..
Sounds fairly decent for home practice and small gigs, for sure. I still want the Katana more, though. I think the Katana sounds better, plus it's simpler. :D
That Jam with the acoustic was sick.
Rob 8:00, "this amp is shit, because I am rich and good and I can buy a kemper"
Nice sales job Rob!
Rob is amazing and offers true objectivity most the time, but sometimes he is capable of being autistic tapping kid we all hated in the guitar shop
His statement was actually a relatable one "I know there's tuff professional critics out there but so many can really benefit from this. If I was a beginner I'd choose it."
paul's playing was mesmerising!
Rob Couldn't Hate This Amp More If He Tried Lol
Loved that little mug gag thingy Rory :)
Am I the only person that likes line 6 amps? I have a spider jam model 75 w and a beast of an amp.
Still getting to grips with it and have no idea what the stuff on the back does but will be fun finding out.
You ain't the only one mate. I have a spider IV 75 w and it is a perfectly solid practice amp with tons of great tones.
You guys have way too much fun!
The clean and crunchy tones are nice, but we've been having nice clean tones since the 80's.
But the metal tone just sounds way too processed and harsh, and maybe its just MY ears, but I hear almost a sort of "whistling" tone in the mid-range :/
the last jam sounded fantastic.
Here we have 3 Brits all talkin at once.
respect for not crying throut the whole video
This affordable modeling amp doesn't hold up to a high end boutique amp! Burn it with fire!!
People need to chill out. It's a practice amp, meant for practicing, not touring and gigging. It's FINE!!! If Fractal made one, it would sound a bit better, and cost $1000 vs $400. #Truth
It's almost like you've never looked for a tube amp on the used market before
Bass Sauce First "Tube? Yuck"
Secondly, that's one amp. This is multiple, plus FX. I don't think anyone goes into buying a Spider thinking they've got a monster amp, that's touring and big studio ready.
Not everyone needs 3000 effects to be happy.
chris c Especially when the effects and gain suck. Its also not cheap compared to used amps that will sound loads better
Bass Sauce you can get GOOD used tube amps that are capable of both bedroom playing AND gigging for less than these retail for.
Love paul Hindmarsh behind a guitar. Brings a smile to Chapper's face too!
Alex Chalk It's called Ego!
Exactly, Alex. But don't forget, it's also about Line 6 finding their way into your wallet and leaving you with a shit amp. I know, because I owned one. If you want QUALITY at a low price, go for PEAVEY.
Alex Chalk I think Rob was trolling in this video 😂
Thanks for the demo, I just got the 120 and i didn't have a clue, now I do. Glad I got it. I gave my Marshall half stack to my grandson who is in a band that actually plays around and they need the use the size to attract the ladies. Besides that they are very good and getting better. Unlike myself who played in a cover band for years,, they have never played a cover n=tune all original.
Quick and easy fix:
Tablet/phone holder built into the top of the amp for the next model?
I use a 200$ ashdown head with a 200$ 2x12 and it sounds so much better.
But I see what you're saying.
Wow. Rob really is not interested at all. Why even be in the video? I'd hate to be a line 6 rep on an Andertons video.
I'd hate to be a line 6 rep period
Uuugh! That looping section was so delicious D:
People trying to defend the spiders saying: "it doesn't sound great cause it's a cheap practice amp". Too bad a Cube, Vypyr, Marshall Valvestate, Kustom Quad or pretty much anything else will crush the spider.
Paul's bassman-univibe jam was incredibly beautiful...! *.* ♡
