    Brilliant Eric. Thank you.
    I thank God for men with ingenuity.
    I did the same thing you did. I bought a pair from China only to find out that I needed to buy a kit would provide me a code and it came with a cable to hook up under the dashboard.
    I said, “there’s got to be another way. Eventually, I found your video. It worked beautifully.
    Thanks again.

    Thanks! My issue wasn’t the same as yours.. but.. you taking the clicker off & installing new.. helped me.. there’s a small piece of suction cup looking piece of plastic that goes over those buttons.. I lost one so I removed the panic button plastic suction & moved it to my door locks.. worked!!

      Same here. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 and the buttons are glued to the rubber cover. My lock button stopped working and when I opened it up, the utton fell out. Saw other videos where they used an adhesive to glue the button back on but, since I didn't have any glue that would work for this, I just taped the loose button back in place and everything works perfectly. Thanks again Eric for the video.

    That was very helpful, thank you. I didn't do what you did, but seeing the interior components of your new FOBIK made me realize what was wrong with mine. By the time I had any need to open my FOBIK, the button pad discs were completely black and I didn't realize that was dirt; I thought that's just how they were made (the grime was *that* uniform). When I saw your shiny, silver discs I realized mine were so dirty that they couldn't complete the circuit anymore. I cleaned the discs with acetone and Q-Tips until they were like new and what do you know? The FOBIK worked perfectly again!

    Or, you can get AlfaOBD and a compatible OBD2 module, and you can program as many key fobs as you like. You can also activate the NAV system, the factory alarm and a host of other things. Total cost for the AlfaOBD and OBD2 is about $120. Activating the NAV system alone saves you $600, and I believe that the dealer wanted the same amount to activate the factory alarm.

    I have the same year model and my fob went on the fritz (seriously thought my truck had a ghost....the windows kept rolling down and the horn was always honking). Realized it was the silver buttons moving around causing the rubber top to become really sensitive and my pocket was actually causing all of the nonsense. The fob is now completely dead (no ghost either) and I'm getting really tired of taking the key out to unlock my truck every time. The entire fob is in one piece, so will this work for mine? I'm assuming I just need new silver buttons, but before I order something I just want to be sure. Thanks for the help!

    Let’s not forget that the guy actually doing the work probably makes about 10 bucks to program your key. The dealership charges $100 an hour they normally charge a half hour to program a key which comes to $50. That does not mean the guy doing it as making out like a bandit.

      If the green keyboard or the buttons are actually damaged then this procedure will not work. the green keyboard with the buttons must not be damaged in order for this procedure to work.

    • @Deadstorage
      @Deadstorage  4 роки тому +1

      I suggest looking at the green keyboard in the buttons very close to make sure that there's no crack in any of the board or the buttons or the signal paths in the board. Otherwise you are stuck having them reprogram your key.

    • @Deadstorage
      @Deadstorage  4 роки тому

      That would depend on the code that will appear when checking the computer through the obd2 port. You can have your dealer or parts store give you the information. If you're not experienced in that, the best method if you want to Dodge a dealer...play on words.... Is to get the code through a parts store computer and research the code yourself. It will point out where you need to diagnose. It does not point out what to replace. This is where people waist money. If it gives a code for alternator, it does not mean to change the alternator. It means to diagnose the circuit to find the problem. This will be the same with the key fob. If for some reason you tried to program a key on your own and failed it can set off the security block. Kinda like logging into a computer too many times will lock you out. Hope that helps.
