We couldn't get our 2010 T&C to go into programming mode - maybe because it's a different trim level than the video. Instead, we took the (already programmed) circuit board out of the old Fob and switched it over to a new Fob we bought off the internet. That circumvented the problem of needing to do programming and solved the loose touchpads issue we were experiencing. It's a solution that will work for those of you who only have one working Fob. (To summarize: take the green circuit board from your old Fob and put it into a new Fob. That way you don't have to do any programming of the new Fob. It's already done.) Hope that helps someone out there! :)

Just referenced this video for the second time in 3 years. It works! If you happen to start the van or bump the alarm button pulling a key out you have to start the process all over again.
I live in the UK and have the Grand Voyager which is identical to the Town & Country. For some reason it didn't go into program mode even with the 2 original keys, however I bought 2 keys from the US for $26 and took my old key apart and replaced components with new ones and kept the original chip and it works great. Not the outcome I was hoping for but I have 2 working keys.
Did the same! For anyone seeing this the circuit board is just sitting in the rubber top part. That rubber top part has little “coin” pieces glued to the inside that act as contactors for the buttons. In my case time and moisture had caused those to come unglued and short the buttons which caused it to unlock and go nuts. I did learn about the window roll down feature which was nice but yea all I did was move the circuit board to the new fob with fresh contactors and it worked like a charm. I kept the backplate since it has the original Chrysler logo but used the new rubber and front plate.
It seem that the rubber pad is the problem I have the same issue 3 years ago,My old fob had no function for lock & unlock but still function for turn the engine on I bought a new 2 fobs from dealer he programmed them I tried the same method in this video it doesn't work About 3 weeks ago the same thing happened with the 1st new fob, so I had to use the 2nd one
I bought 2 keys from Amazon.com and got it in today, followed the instruction off this video and now I too have 2 extra key fobs that's working. the car lot that I bought this 2010 T&C ordered a key fob from Hudson Toyota and they charge them $500.00. for the key fob and programming. when I picked up the key fob I asked the tech how much would it cost me to program a key fob and he told me it would cost me $47.00 to program it. but after programming the 2 new key fobs myself I did better than the car lot. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been using my metal key to open my van for years b/c I thought it was going to be so expensive. Ordered a new pair of fobs and will use this video to program them.
Great presentation! I only have one key fob, like you mentioned before, I will need to go to a locksmith and get the new key fob programmed. Thanks again...
Please note that, if you have a key fob that is "quirky" or doesn't seem to be working right, you may not have to "program" a new one. It is very possible that the "electronics" are ok and the problem is deterioration of the "physical" components (the most frequent problem is that the little disks under the rubber "buttons" [used to activate each feature] become detached and float around inside the key fob). If you have trouble "activating" a new key fob, try just swapping the circuit board from the old key fob into the new key fob case [remove the existing, old, "cut" "emergency" key by sliding the release button and pulling the key out, then use a thin knife or shim to force the front of the old key fob case to separate it from the back]. Remove the new "uncut" emergency key from the new key fob and open the case as above. Swap the old "already programmed" circuit board into the new case. Snap the front and back pieces of the new case together and insert the old "cut" emergency key to the new case. If the "old" electronics are ok, the new case/old electronics should work just fine.
Usually people with 2 working key fobs dont need to program anything, they just put the boards into new fob cases. The people that do need to program keys are the ones that only have one working fob.
Well done ! He turned me on to this video I went through the sequenc With my factory key and it reprogrammed the OEM key.
@@mommafo Hi from the U.K. Yes I had that problem, & had to get in to the vehicle using the slide out metal key in the door lock. As the alarm goes off when you do this, and open the door, then you have to get the remote into the ignition quickly to get the alarm to stop.
Hi David Rodriguez When my Grand Voyager/Town & Country would not open it was because of an issue with the remote, & we were away on holiday. Therefore when I was with the car again, after rebuilding it in the hotel room it would not open it. So I had to open it up as mentioned above with the slide out key.
That's a good point actually. My original OEM factory keys were in such bad shape that they were held together with that horrible green tape and one of them didn't have working buttons at all. However, the ignition was able to recognize it as a programmed factory key and I was then able to reprogram, just as you apparently did yourself.
This will work ONLY IF you have not had the recall regarding the ignition where the fob is inserted fixed. Once that is done you can no longer program fobs. Just bought a used 2010 but apparently they went in for the recall and I can't program extra keys.
Dang my van came with one fob, but ordered two fobs with blank keys off ebay for 15 bux. A battery shop near me is going to cut and program them both for 150.00 and yes the dealer shits near me wanted like 300 dollars per fob so I'm all in 165 over 600. Nice video though.
I have tried to get my vehicle to go into program mode more times than I care to tell about. I was hoping for a glitch. Exhausted from following the steps that are online for program mode, I contacted the dealer and locksmiths for answers. They both said that only the dealer or a locksmith can program the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country. They plug into the car with a 4 digit code, go into programming to program new fobik.
You need two keys. You can get one made by a locksmith for cheaper than a dealer and then you have two and can make your own backups... but the locksmith might make you a deal for 2.
as long as you have 2 working fobs this works if you loose one fob you cannot program your self has to be taken to dealer or locksmith so in this case no you cannot program yourself!!!!
I have both original keys, but the one will not work in the ignition... Is there a timeframe you need to stay within? I was thinking of swapping the housing real quick before attempting to program the new ones. Thank Google and youtube for allowing us to share information, otherwise wed be continually forking over $100s to these dealers.
+Jason Mozdy I'm not sure about a timeline. Technically I think it just has to be in the ignition and be able to get into the correct position to trigger the program mode. You might have a few minutes.
I have two Chrysler keys that work. When I followed your instructions, the Customer Program mode never comes on. I never get the light in the middle of the dash to turn orange. Any suggestions?
Well, I just bought two keys off Amazon the other day for a 2011 T&C, but I have only one working original key. I hear you have to have a dealer or locksmith do it when you have one key. That bites.
***** Yeah, otherwise anyone (like a valet or someone working on your car) can make a new key on their own without you knowing. The design really is a protection as it's presumed that if you have access to two keys, you're probably the vehicle owner. Best bet for anyone with one of these vehicles is to go ahead and buy a replacement key and program it and then stick it someplace safe so in case you lose your factory key, you can still program a replacement.
@@BigSkidMedia wrong, you need two Admin keys to program. The keys you self program are not admin keys. But what you should do is program two keys and put the originals away in case you loose one.
We just bought a used 2010 and the FOB battery had been dead for the better part of a decade. I replaced the battery but it's clearly not programmed (it starts the ignition but none of the buttons work). It's the only key we were given. Are we stuck having to go to a dealer and pay them to reprogram it if we don't have a second working FOB?
So is it safe to say that if you only have one working key, you then have to pay what ever the dealership asks for ($500 or more) even though it is well under that range to actually do it?
I have a 2010 grand cherokee overland 5.7, (AUST RHD) is this remote start feature standard with the car or is it a aftermarket kit. Some video's on YT show extra wiring and modules to make it happen.
Do not even know if you will see this, let alone have an answer, but. What if you only had one key fob and you have lost that one? Is there any other option, but the dealer? Please and thank you.
Do you know if this would work with one original, and one programmed? We have one original and one that we had purchased and reprogrammed at a dealer (but the buttons stopped working). Wondered if buying a new one and using those together would work.
I tried this 4 or 5 times before I got it right. I actually think it's important that you don't leave the first factory key in for longer than 5 seconds. Then when you put the second factory key in, after about 10 seconds, it goes into program mode. The 5 times before it worked, it failed because I counted 10 seconds on both factory keys. Once I changed to 5 seconds on the first, it worked exactly like this video. The key I programmed was $12 on eBay. Thanks so much!
i have a 2010 dodge caravan bought it used came with 1 key fob. if you finance the vehicle i think they keep a fob so they can repo if needed payed about 200 at a locksmith for a new one but the way my wife looses things i thought we need another so i found 2 on ebay for about 16.00 and tried to program them but will not go into program mode so im not sure if it is because i dont have both original fobs they say 2010 and up you can not do it your self maybe it has to do with when the vehicle was manufactured mine was manufactured in 3-10 so if yours was manufactured in 2009 it may still be able to be done yourself so its back to the locksmith for us
Thanks for the tip. Do you have any advise on how to make my one broken key fob work? Only the top tip outer casing broke off. The part around the panic button. I can't turn it in the ignition without the panic button being pressed and activated. Tried turning over, but then it won't engage at all. I bought two new keys, but from what your saying, I have to at least have one that will work.
I have tried this several times on my 2010 Town and Country and it does not work. Both my keys start the vehicle but doesn't open any doors. I wanted to program a new set so they will work but it will not program the new keys. I have tried several different seconds and method but once I insert one of the new keys the immobilizer just sits and flashes and can not start the vehicle.
Do the bottons one the key have to work.. Or do the fobs only have to be able to start the van to do this?!?! I have two remotes that start my van but the buttons have went out and wont unlock it.
For some reason it’s going into program mode when I put the new fob in… not the two already programmed keys. Tried a bunch of different variations but nothings workin :,(
It didn't work on my 2010 T/C . I've only had it a year and everything worked when I got it, including the remote start. Over the last year everything on both remotes failed except lock /unlock. I had to settle for transferring the circuit board to the new housing. Now the only thing that still doesn't work is the remote start. But that may be an issue with the vehicle.
It depends. I have a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 25th Anniversary Edition and mine will not go into programming mode. I have 2 perfectly working FOBs and just wanted some spares.
I have one that works great and one that the lock function stopped working last week. does that mean the second one will not work and I need to see the locksmith?
I have two working keys. Dodge Caravan' 2009. But I'm unable to get program mode like you show. Last year I fulfilled recal R03: dealer replaced WIN module and gave me two new FOBIKs, may be with new WIN module this feature was gone?
I tried this on my 2010 Town and Country. After putting in the 2nd working key, it would ding, but not go into program mode. If I would put an unprogrammed key in next, it would then go into program mode. I completed the sequence four times, but could never get the new keys programmed. I also tried putting 1st old key, 2nd old key, then 1st old key to see if the third key inserted would put it into program mode but it did not. It would not go into program mode with an older, working key.
not using this technique, but you can buy the keys online and have a locksmith program them for about $50, at least that's what I was quoted, and then you don't have the massive charge per key from the dealer.
I purchased a 2014 Town & Country only 1 working key-fob came with it. The previous owner lost the second & never replaced it. This video instructs doing both. Should I do only the new 1? Or should I put the 1 good one & the new one through this same procedure that was just demonstrated in this video?
I replaced the battery for my key for a 2014 town and country and it still won't work. It will start the vehicle but won't work on locking the doors or unlocking. What do I do?
I have a 2009 town and country with 2 working factory keys and it will not enter programming mode like this van does i have tried at least 10 times and it will not chime on the second key to enter programming. Any ideas?
I have different problem maybe I can get answer how to fix... my 2010 caravan It use to unlock all doors when I opened driver door now it has changed when that happens only with passenger door now... and idea how reprogram this THX
Can you just use 1 working key to program a new key? I only have one and it's opening doors just because it's been moved. Not good when my dog is with me and she hauls butt when the door is opened! It's caused some dangerous situations.
I only have 1 key... What can I do? Just bought a same 2 remote control as you had. Also I only have a key with a chip in it, i don't have original remote control

as long as you have 2 working fobs this works if you loose one fob you cannot program your self has to be taken to dealer or locksmith so in this case no you cannot program yourself!!!!
Can you do it if you only have one key?
I have two Chrysler keys that work. When I followed your instructions, the Customer Program mode never comes on. I never get the light in the middle of the dash to turn orange. Any suggestions?
Michael Schroeder i have the same prblem. did u resolve it?
@@testerjoetest8611 I also have the same problem
You can go to a locksmith for a cheaper option
I only have one key could I insert it twice to trigger the program mode?
No I tried and it does not work
I tried this but it's not going into program mode, I have 2 working keys and need to replace them.
my 2010 Dodge grand caravan is not going to program mode( no red light in on dashboard) but if follow timing rule it programmed my key
@@amigo439 Did it work even if it didn't go into "program mode" with the chime?
So is it safe to say that if you only have one working key, you then have to pay what ever the dealership asks for ($500 or more) even though it is well under that range to actually do it?
Did you ever figure this out? I also only have one key fob not two.
I have a 2010 grand cherokee overland 5.7, (AUST RHD) is this remote start feature standard with the car or is it a aftermarket kit. Some video's on YT show extra wiring and modules to make it happen.
No, remote start is not standard. But if you get keys with the remote start button it will still work.
Do not even know if you will see this, let alone have an answer, but. What if you only had one key fob and you have lost that one? Is there any other option, but the dealer? Please and thank you.
Locksmith can program your keys if you buy one. Much cheaper option by far.
Do you know if this would work with one original, and one programmed? We have one original and one that we had purchased and reprogrammed at a dealer (but the buttons stopped working). Wondered if buying a new one and using those together would work.
So wait, do I NEED 2 working keyfobs to do this? I only have 1 working keyfob right now, and want to program these 2 new keyfobs that I bought.
Jason Clark i have 2 working keys.. but on the 2nd key.. it will not signal that it is in programming mode
Jason Clark do you have any advice?
Testerjoe Test about a week after my comments here, the batteries in my fobs died and I have to constantly reprogram it.
This worked Thank you. 2008 Town and Country
i have a 2010 dodge caravan bought it used came with 1 key fob. if you finance the vehicle i think they keep a fob so they can repo if needed payed about 200 at a locksmith for a new one but the way my wife looses things i thought we need another so i found 2 on ebay for about 16.00 and tried to program them but will not go into program mode so im not sure if it is because i dont have both original fobs they say 2010 and up you can not do it your self maybe it has to do with when the vehicle was manufactured mine was manufactured in 3-10 so if yours was manufactured in 2009 it may still be able to be done yourself so its back to the locksmith for us
Do you know how to re-learn TPMS system in 2008 grand caravan same as your video? I rotate tires and now is all messt up! Thanks
You can just replace the insides of the old key into a new shell as long as the board is not broken.
What if I have only one working key?
Must have two keys. Otherwise someone who has your key for just a few minutes could program one on their own and then later come take your vehicle.
I have a 2010 Chrysler. I followed instructions but it does not go into program mode. What am I missing?
I was looking this up for a friend but she did not tell me if it worked or not
how are these holding up over time? - thanks for making the video
We have an 08 Chrysler town and country and when we bought it full down it only came with 1 original key ?
Do the bottons one the key have to work.. Or do the fobs only have to be able to start the van to do this?!?! I have two remotes that start my van but the buttons have went out and wont unlock it.
Just has to be able to start.
Thank you!! Mine are fine so far but just in case...now I know what to do!! $500 is highway robbery! Lol 👀
Thanks for your time Q Even if the 3rd was used one?
For some reason it’s going into program mode when I put the new fob in… not the two already programmed keys. Tried a bunch of different variations but nothings workin :,(
just wanted to let you know there is a RECALL on the ignition switch comes with 2 new keys but would have never been notified.
my vehicle went through the recall but I never got new keys. I asked and they said no.
Thank you so much. I just did mine. Works perfectly
Unfortunately this doesn't work on my 2010 T&C. Don't know why. I have two working remotes, but it never goes into program mode.
Now doesn't work for me either. I'm following your instructions to the letter.
I disassembled and repaired. Works great now.
I only have one working key can I just do it twice with the same key?
Not sure, maybe it hit the max number of stored keys.
I lost my keys. Can I buy new keys and program them myself?
not using this technique, but you can buy the keys online and have a locksmith program them for about $50, at least that's what I was quoted, and then you don't have the massive charge per key from the dealer.
Well, I just tried this with the two original keys on a 2010 and it does not give me the programming setting on the second key kind of disappointed
I purchased a 2014 Town & Country only 1 working key-fob came with it. The previous owner lost the second & never replaced it. This video instructs doing both. Should I do only the new 1? Or should I put the 1 good one & the new one through this same procedure that was just demonstrated in this video?
worked ? have the same case only one key.
Can you do this without the original key. I lost my original key but have 2 new ones.
Can you do this if you have one working fob but your second key is a transponder
Thank you sir, this method worked with my Charger 2008
Thank. Definitely work for my 2009 Jeep GC
Did it work for your 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Nice!
@@BigSkidMedia yes, it is working.
Please help. I can get the new fob to on position, but it won't start the ignition
I'm having a problem with my alarm not cutting off car won't start
I replaced the battery for my key for a 2014 town and country and it still won't work. It will start the vehicle but won't work on locking the doors or unlocking. What do I do?
I have a 2014 and only.one key fob. I don't have a second for this process. What are my options?
No, this method doesn't work for 2012 and up
I have only ONE key fob with the used van I bought. Can I do it with just one fob.
No, has to have two working fobs that can start the vehicle. You can get a new FOB made at a locksmith for cheaper.
It worked for me. THANK YOU
If you only want to re program one key of the 2 will you need to have 2 original keys?
I only have 1, you have to have 2 and then the replacement to do this?
I have a 2009 town and country with 2 working factory keys and it will not enter programming mode like this van does i have tried at least 10 times and it will not chime on the second key to enter programming. Any ideas?
I followed the video and then got a message stating BADKEY, what does this mean and what do I need to do now.
I did the programming and now my headlights flash > key works and buttons work but no headlights
I tried this on my 2011 TC and it did not work... it would not go into the program mode. :
If you have one key fob can you reset 2 new key fobs..
This did not work on our 2010 Town and Country. The new key will turn accessory on but does not start engine or function as a remote to unlock vehicle. Vehicle message says “contact dealer”.
