one of the most clearest coherent explanations out there on the connections and the variations!
Thanks!
Are you kidding. He was totally confusing. The radio I just got has a wire connection for steering controls not a separate plug.
Listen at 2:09 "News flash not all radios have a 3.5mm..."
It sounds like you need to figure out the 12 wire setup specific to your vehicle and get down to taping into the necessary wires. This guy covers all the broad contours of the topic in a really concise fashion. He mentions the nuance for vehicle specific things you need to look up, he doesn't give you a step by step tutorial just the scope of the space and issues involved and branch points that people will come into. He even invites you to call to get help. What else do you want? It's simply not practical or at least comes at great cost to produce step by step instructions for all the vehicle variations and permutations out there.
I need interface for dodge avenger 2008-2014
@@Qualitymobilevideo please help me
You sir are the real mvp today. Been trying to figure out how to make this work and didnt realize there was a wire in my loom for the 3.5 jack. Thank you!!
Where's my trophy!?
Another awesome option are the pre wired units from Spiral Audio. I was not able to get the ASWC-1 to work in my Titan. I never heard of Spiral Audio until a couple of weeks ago when someone recommended their harness to me. I ordered it immediately. Was plug, and play for my specific vehicle. All I had to do was wire my radio to their harness. Check them out.
This is the first video I found that helped me set up a Kenwood DMX4707S due to the single control wire. Thank you.
Wow only 0:15 seconds in and I found the solution to my problem. Tysm
This helps me a little. I have a 2015 NISSAN NV200 with a Kenwood Ddx276bt and was confused af with what to do with the ASCW-1. Still am tbh but this has a little clarification.
Dude, this has been a lifesaver! Big thumbs up!
Thanks for this video. I have ordered the specific axxess for my car.
Question though, do i need to update it?
There is another video showing a 3.5 jack to the SWC port to a 2-din with 3 leads connected directly to the 28 pin steering control wires. 2010-15 Prius, which i have, and a Kenwood 5707s headset. Do I really have to spend the extra bucks for the module interface?
Which one should be best fit for me for a 2014 Toyota voxy. If there is a plug and play one available for purchase I will love to know about it please
Best explanation vid, keep it up bro 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for this video
Glad it helped!

Did you get a new car?
Can you also retain the phone steering wheel controls? Had an someone install a Kenwood DDX 9905S on a 2016 Toyota Corolla. The stereo buttons work for the volume and track +-, but the phone buttons don't work properly.
Will this help me in anyway to get the back up cam trailing lines to move with the steering wheel?
No it will not
I had a Apple Carp Play installed. I don't believe if they even tried to program the buttons. I have a 2014 Toyota Camry. Should I just purchase one of these to be safe ? How do I know if I need the harness ?
I have a 2017 Toyota 86 with a Atoto A6 Pro stereo. Steering wheel control looks nearly identical. Whole car looks almost the same. Which module you recommend?
Does this just enable volume control from the steering wheel or seek track as well?
Can you tell me which one I need for my car I have a 2011 Subaru legacy limited 2.5
Unfortunately there isn't a plug-and-play harness for that vehicle, you will need to locate the steering wheel control wire and use www.qualitymobilevideo.com/aswc.html
@@Qualitymobilevideo sir, i have only one issue in my Hyundai i20 2011.
The Head Unit, MID Display Unit are all OK. No issues. I do not have issues with HORN.
All parts are OEM.
However, none of the steering button controls are functioning when the MID Display is in STANDBY SCREEN MODE.
First, I have to play media either via Aux, CD or FM using the buttons on the Head Unit. Only thereafter, all steering audio controls are working as normal. Is this normal? Are the steering controls designed to work only when first media is being played.
I have also confirmed changes in voltage to the signal input line whenever any steering buttons are pressed.
Please help to fix why buttons are not working when MID Display is in standby mode. Thanks.
hi, I ask you if your unit can work with a Pioneer sph-da360dab. my car does not have steering wheel controls, but remote controls that act on a black control unit that using two wires (Key 1 and Key 2) should "talk" with the radio, which worked very well with the Sony, but this radio does not allow you to program the buttons. Can it work with your control unit? Thank you
Will this harness work with ebay chinese stereos??
Good Day. Please let me know how to incorporate a universal IR remote control to this factory car stereo system. Thank You
2014 Corolla what do I need besides the aswc-1
Love the video, but I have a question.... what is the hiring harness that comes with your after market head unit has 2 leads coming off of it labeled “steering wheel control cable key 1” “steering wheel control cable key 2”?
That means your harness has built in SWC, so you don't need an interface, you can connect it directly to the factory SWC wiring :)
Quality Mobile Video okay thank you for your fast reply! Would I be connecting both wires to the wire “steering wheel” labeled wire? There isn’t anything else regarding the steering wheel, the one next to it in the same bracket it called “control leads”
it seems a lot has changed since this video because I bought a radio that has a steering wheel control wire, not a separate plug, and the harness I bought for my 2014 Hyundai has the matching wire .
Its very confusing because in the reviews for both products some people say it works, some say its doesn't. I bought a steering wheel interface just to be sure. If it turns out i dont need it i will blame this video..
Actually, nothing has changed. Some stereos have built in SWC, the vast majority do not. We've made videos on probably 200 stereos and maybe 12 have had SWC built-in, and they're usually Android Head-Units.
In the first 16 seconds of the video: "Make sure the stereo you purchased has a SWC Input..." If your stereo has SWC built in and no SWC 3.5mm jack, why would you need to buy a SWC interface?
To blame us for purchasing a SWC interface you don't need is absurd. Not every stereo requires an ASWC or other interface. It's not our job to make sure that the very unique stereo, there are thousands, that you purchased has SWC built in or not.
@@Qualitymobilevideo "why would you need to buy a SWC interface?" because you said it is required, and you show a swc input in the video so anyone who doesn't have a SWC input is going to think they will need an interface if they dont know its built in. You made no mention of built in ones, that's why I said things must have changed because I found a radio with one built in.
You should have said A SWC interface is required If you dont have one built in the unit. Its not hard to be clear.
Also, most radio's dont come with a wiring harness (as you said) since the wiring harnesses are particular to the car. There are no universal wiring harnesses.
is there an alternative for stereos without jack connection?
would this include factory USB inputs as well?
No that is separate.
I have A vw Jetta and I had to tap the 12v from the radio directly to my fuse box so that my radio cuts off when I remove my keys do I need to do the same with the interface or can I hook this up regularly
What does it mean by "Connect the black wire of the ASWC_1 and wire from Pin 6 of the vehicle's wire harness to Chassis Ground"?
Hi there. I'm watching ur video, and I'm wondering if this will work on a hinda civic 97 model. I have a touch screen in my car, but I want to hook up a honda Accord steering wheel to the touch screen. Do u think it's doable. Plz inform me what I need to make it work. Keep in mind I'm from South Africa, and our cars are not the same as ours besides the steering wheel being on the other side.
Thanks.

I'm having issues with mine, I have the metra box for my trailblazer, but the radio I have is holding SW# high so the pulses don't get through. The pulses are there when not connected to the radio, but the radio is holding that line high with power so it's cancelling them

I have a Prius v. Bestbuy did a install for the radio without the interface. And I lost steering wheel control for the climate control and ash board control. They say I need the interface. Is it true? If the interface only connects to the stereo, hows it possible for the climate control to work

Can I connect the wires to my aftermarket radio harness adapter instead the car radio adapter?
i need a key1 and key 2 on my pioneer SPH-DA120 for a aftermarktet steeringcontroler. can i slove the problem with the axxess aswc-1?
If my vehicle already has an swc and controls a stereo why do I need another interface? It would already have one wouldn’t it? If not then why do they have the factory one that doesn’t need one and an aftermarket one does.
It's the same reason you still need a separate wiring harness when you buy a new stereo, in addition to the one the stereo comes with. You need to connect your vehicle's factory connections to the new stereo's connections.
Gotcha so they don’t standardize.
Hey do I have to connect both brown wired to the steering wheel wire behind my kenwood headunit?
Yes dunk them in water first
How can I reset aftermarket car radio on the rav4 2014?
What if I have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner but I have a steering wheel from Lexus GX. All toyota steering wheels are compatible as far as mounting them to the car.
Interesting question! Since Toyota and Lexus are the same company i'm sure you'd be cool with the ASWC-1, do you know the year the Lexus GX SW is?
Quality Mobile Video well I have been in the market for a steering wheel and don’t have one yet but it will either be from the 03-09 GX or I’ve even thought about a wheel from a late model 4Runner Tacoma Tundra. Those three seem to be the same just because they look really similar. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific.
The 03-09 LExus GX's are all compatible with the ASWC-1. However, since you're using a steering wheel from a different car there's no guarantee, the factory harness on the 4Runner may not allow it
Quality Mobile Video good to know. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for this video!! Seems like there's more to figure out, but addresses one of my huge questions; posted on one of your other videos.
My aftermarket stereo has 3 wires out the harness. (Gray = SWC 1, Green = SWC 2 and Black (fine) = SWC Ground.) Do I need that separate Interface? Or can I pull out one of the wires from the the other connectors that were in the stock unit?
Hey Kirk! What's the exact model of the stereo? Some actually do have built in SWC retention.
XO Vision XOD1752BT. Thanks!!
Ahh now I see what you're talking about. And what's your make/model/year?
2012 Honda Odyssey
This was my "full questions." Sorry...any helps.
Do you mind questions? Please. The new stereo has wires that the harness doesn't have, nor did you mention them. The pinks are obvious; front/rear cameras.
The 5 others are the questionable ones. (Wires 1-3) Have 3 wires for Steering wheel control (Gray = SWC 1, Green = SWC 2 and Black (fine) = SWC Ground.) Do I need that separate ($50) SWC? Or can I pull out one of the wires from the the other connectors that were in the stock unit?
(4) Blue (B+) (2nd blue w/o white stripe) = Amplifier Control and (5) Brown = Brake (B-).
Also, I noticed one video had a harness kit with the other connectors. My harness (Metra) didn't. Wondering, if I got the wrong brand harness.
Sorry, one more. Does any metal behind the dash, count as "chassis ground"?

I got 2005 h2 with kenwood monitor will it work with steering wheel control?
Yup! www.qualitymobilevideo.com/aswc.html
Can a steering wheel from an older Corolla, be replaced with a steering wheel from a newer Corolla, specifically one with multimedia controllers???
I would say that's probably possible with some models, but it would probably require the entire steering column. I don't think it would be easy to find out if the steering column was compatible, it wouldn't be cheap, and it would be a LOT of work to install. I suspect you could find a wireless controller that attaches to the steering wheel. That would probably work better, easier, cheaper and even look better (unless you had a PERFECT matching steering column)
I have kenwood DNX7200 would this work for it. I went to all car electronics stores and no one knows. Could you please support me in this.
Will this work with a ford fiesta 2011 ? I have an chinese android unit that works fine but doesn't read my steering wheel controls.
Yes it will work
Been trying to contact AXXESS and they aren't answering me. I've looked at the instructions but none of it explains what to do about having multiple harnesses in a stereo kit when they all have the same plug from the factory harness from the car which they are all supposed to plug into.
I'm sure there is a simple explanation but coming from someone who has wired multiple stereos in cars from the 80s and 90s that don't have all of this extra stuff, these companies need to just add something into the instructions, which aren't included in any of this stuff anymore, and take the guess work out of it. Way less frustration.

What if I'm adding a steering wheel to a car that never had wheel controls and dont have all the factory harnesses 🤔
So you're getting a new steering wheel with SWC commands on it?
Considering the variations there are to dealing with this issue, i would mark this one of the most "generic" and least helpful videos i've ever seen on it. Not every car will use the same hardware so you will need to do research to figure out what control unit works with your vehicle.
We can’t make an installation video for your year make and model. The entire video was meant to give you an idea of what of the concept. If your interpretation lacks, take it to an installer. Cheers!
