LOL!!!! Look how old this is!!! ive been watching since these days and i just realized how far your editing and everything has come. it was good back then too but it was funny to see.
I have a 04 grand prix gtp and I haven't cut the connections yet but there's no 3.5 input on the back of my deck and it has everything yours does. I JUST REALIZED YOU'RE THE GUY THAT MADE THE VIDEO THAT DIDN'T RESPOND TO ANYONE, SO NEVERMIND!
+Rick Malone I actually respond to hundreds of comments per day, in my opinion much more so than any other UA-camr, I can't be expected to be tech support though, recharge out to whomever you bought the integration product from, they owe it to you to solve your issue being as you bought it from them.
know this is an old vid but love the channel and how detailed your tutorials/builds are. Going to be following your advice for my project car where the amp rack videos and wiring will really help 👍. I did have a question though, I have a lexus is300 steering wheel with two shift buttons for the manual "e-shift" feature. I believe they act as momentary switches but was wondering if this axxess module might be used to connect steering wheel buttons to an accessory that is not the head unit (since it's not a media button)? I understand this is a off the wall niche question, I just have delusions of grandeur. Keep up the good work and really like how the channel has grown, probably make some of the best looking beauty panels I've seen 😁
You are right, I realize it is impossible to make an affordable vehicle-specific harness but still, considering how much work and time a buyer still needs to invest in connecting these so-called "vehicle specific" harnesses, their prices could be lower. My soldering skills was a bit rusty but you are right, after a little warm up, it came out decent but for most inexperienced DIYers, I wouldn't say the process was THAT basic, especially considering the very basic instructions they provide.
You made this look so easy, but in my girlfriends 2006 chevy malibu, i installed the kenwood ddx319 and the axxcess interface, properly, it recogonized the radio and when i went to hit the volume button up to make it programmed forsure, thd volume kept going up... and wouldnt go back down... im going to reattempt this, but i didnt get the onstar portion since her car didnt come equipt with it. You did an awesome job though!!
this is awesome i should have looked for this video, gonna change my deck but I didn't buy the steering wheel control because i didnt know how to install it, im gonna buy but did not feel messing with it because car stereo stuff will take hours messing around. you should do a newer video on this and how to keep the Bluetooth mic that came stock with the car to the deck instead of rewiring a new bluetooth mic???
wow been wat hing your videos for a while and i upgraded to a double did 2 days ago and my steering wheen conntrolls came in so i looked up this vid on how to install them and now i realise i got the same pioneer double din as you have for demo in this video haha nice :) anyway great vid man keep it up
Thanks for the video. Question...how would you connect if you only were to connect the ASWC? I only want my SWC. Dont care for retaining anything else. Thanks.
Glad to hear. I'm putting in a Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS, thanks for your review of the 5500 as it's almost the same! (but I want the extra Android functionality of the 8500)
Hey do you know if it's possible to keep the multiple disc cd changer working when I install an aftermarket cd/DVD player in my 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
This isn't made for beginners. Doesn't show step by step instructions of the most important part "Connecting the wires to the harnesses". I don't know which harness is which by saying 16 pin connector.
Akachi Productions To determine which is which simply count the pins. The connections change from vehicle to vehicle so I didn't think there was much value in showing how it connects to my specific car.
I have a gmc Sierra and a Pioneer and I have a 12 pin vehicle harness. idk if that helps you. Your harness should have a series of numbers and a few letters etched into it. look closely
Consider the fact that every car has a different harness. No company could afford to have a device that comes prewired ready to plug into every imaginable car. Too many options out there. We are lucky they are able to keep costs down by having all the programming for all the different head units and all the different vehicles in one unit! IMO the process is Basic, if you don’t want to solder get crimp connectors, but don’t be sad when they fail.
Hey maybe you can help me I bought a access unit like yours for a 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. When I plug the unit in, it functions alright but when I turn the volume of the radio up, or down it cuts out, and I hear the axcess unit click. Also I can't get the unit to register the steering wheel controls, if I hit the volume, or seek (nothing).
Sounds like a lot of wiring. I'm use to installing units with vehicles that don't have OnStart or a steering wheel control. I just got a unit with DVD/Nav i just got to buy the harness "and" interfaces now. I just gotta check if the unit gots the 3.5mm remote jack behind it. Shouldnt be that hard to wire up huh?
I installed my aftermarket stereo (using the GMOS-044 with it ASWC-1) to my chevy cruze 2012 1.4 turbo, and the upper factory screen (it's a black and white screen) doesn't work. If i install the factory stereo back into the car it will work again. Do you have any issues like that? How do you fix it?
I have a question. I have a 2010 Subaru Outback and I bought a pioneer mvh-2300nex and the axxess aswc-1 controller from crunch field. I’ve wired it the way they told me but once I power up the volume goes up all the way without me touching anything. What am I doing wrong?
Mark can you link me the parts I need for a 2016 Altima SV 4.3 inch screen, no nav no bose? I want to keep steering wheel controls and the backup camera.
I see you have a grand prix, so do I. The GMOS-4 is required for installing in this car, isn't it? Is there any alternative? Because all I see about the unit are terrible reviews.
I have the connections and the aswc1 has detected the correct stereo but i cannot get it to detect the vehicle. i am unclear on the manual steps. could you please do a video of it?
Hey mark i have a 04 grand prix GTP and i want to install the pioneer avic-n1 that comes with the navigation and ill like to know if you can help me on how can i find the speed sence wire that goes from the car's computer to the dash
Im having trouble getting the aswc to work in my 2004 tahoe z71. I made the correct cuts to the wires green/white orange/green green/orange. Idk what else to do
Hi I have Pioneer appradio 2 (sph da100), my button not working ( vol up down & home), if I've installed this ASWC1 with my strering switch control, its will work to remotely control my HU? Thanks
if your volume up and down and home aint working then you either hooked something up wrong, didnt program it or your up down and home buttons are bad. i have a simular kit for my receiver and it works good.
I have the pioneer avh x8500bhs and I'm trying to connect the steering wheel controls to a 2007 Monte Carlo ss .. Besides the 3.5 mm wire is there anything else I need to connect to my head unit. It's not syncing up. Can someone help me?
.I installed this SWC on an Altima 2014, and it worked flawlessly for 10 days. Then stopped for one drive and then started working. I replaced the Head unit (originally a Jensen now a Pioneer) for unrelated reasons and the SWC does the same thing. I checked everything and even tried troubleshooting with Axxess - still not luck. So I bought another SWC-1 and installed it - same issue. Ran for about 10 drives and then on the next start - no reaction to Steering wheel control - on the next drive it again worked flawlessly - you have any thoughts?
NIYAZ NAZAR Thanks for your response and Yep - since my post I have switched to a PAC adpater and it works great. No issues. Also came complete with the adpater harness, retained all controls (including phone), retained reverse camera and it was very easy to install. I gave Axxess every chance to help (I did every step they requested, check/replace resistor, change ground location, separate ground, check/re-wire, bypass harness, etc) and while they were very responsive, when all options were tried they claimed I was the only one with this issue and offered no other options. It's simple now for me - get the PAC unit for any Nissan model - it's quick, easy, handles all controls and works flawlessly.
Thomas Conway thats awesome. from where did you purchase the adaptor? would you mind sharing me the link if you purchased it online? i too drive an altima but its a 2006.
NIYAZ NAZAR This is the unit I bought. I got it from Amazon (trusted their return, etc) but you can get it for a bit less if you look: www.amazon.com/Audio-RP4-NI11-RadioPro-Replacement-Interface/dp/B00H8YCSII/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427123139&sr=8-2&keywords=PAC+steering+wheel+adapter+Nissan You can check compatibility etc at the PAC site. I think you will need a different model, but I'd be surprised if they did not have one for that year. Mine was this one: www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=1197&CategoryID=26
+Thomas Conway glad I seen your comment. I will attempt to install the axxess this weekend. If it gives me the issues you . I will look into the Pac. I may just go with the Pac since you mentioned the ease of install. I had to purchase a separate wire connection for the back up camera which I will see how it all goes this weekend.
I installed ASWC-1 2007 Tacoma with the Metra plug and play harness. ASWC-1 is suppose to be self programming it's not, reset unit still doesn't work would not recommend.
on mistake you should never do when connecting a bundle of wires together! you never connect them all at the same point of each other! you should always cute all the wires at an angle or in different locations so you do not have a big knot in your bundle of wires!
so now that almost every deck is coming with bluetooth as a standard feature i do at least 2 a week with the aswc itself and with the harness as a combo. if you go onto axxess website there is a aswc vehicle compatabiltiy part you can click on. 1. enter year, make, and model of vehicle. then it will say if it will work with your vehicle, 2.just below that will be a tab, if you click the tab it will give you a step by step print out of what wires to connect to the vehicle and the deck, with wire colors and what pins on the harness to use. 3.on the same print out it will give you the guide to program if any, auto detect pretty much does it all ....... pac audio just released a couple harnesses that have everything all in one, and then there is the big dog!!! the meistro from idata link that also does everything all together that you program from your computer and update if needed. it hooks up through your data in your vehicle so you can have guages display on your double din unit, like rpms and such.... thank you so much for these videos
+jessica tuller I've got a '99 Durango and it's not listed as being tested, but the '99 LHS has the same radio controls and buss. I soldered the pink (pin 1) and the wht/grn to pin 2 and it flashes but the steering wheel controls don't seem to integrate to my Sony MEX-N5100BT. I'm getting the 7 green flashes and it's giving me 10 red flashes and I was under the impression that if it recognizes the Sony, it'd flash 4 times. Am I missing something?
Its to show that this device exists. What did you expect? That i show how to wire every car ever made? Everyone is different. Get the device compatible for your car and read the directions
+Travis Willingham Thats because each car manufacturer is different. Your car would most likely be different to the car Mark is installing it into. You can always easily find wiring guides on specific vehicles by using the google machine.
Soldering is needed? After spending $40 for the GM with Bosch system specific harness and $50 for the wheel control adapter, I do not want to heard that I am still required to do anything but plug stuff in! At this day and age with all the ridiculously overpriced adapters and harnesses, you'd think the process would be more basic! Fking shame.
WHY do the Yanks bastardise the English Language , it IS and ALWAYS has been Solder with an "L" and NOT Soder , but I digress I don't think the kits available in the US will help me much with my Japanese import to Australia :( Oh for those that don't have all the nice tools , you can carefully use a Zippo or other lighter to heat your heatshrink , BUT do it with care so it is not burned or over heated. I ended up here looking for the SWC control for my Axis 1488BT Radio , some good info just the same .

You don't have to solder anything. Butt splices are fine. You're making something tougher than it should be. US Navy electrician here.
The reviews are from people that are too lazy to read an instruction manual, it took me all of 30 seconds to program and use.
