@TheDivisionAddict Jason inspired blackened guitar riff yeah but he was never on mop😂 and I don’t think you know the difference between a guitar riff or solo
Love seeing how hyped yall got for this! I know both of you would LOVE their albums "Master of Puppets" and "...And Justice For All". IMO both of those albums were where Metallica peaked in their songwriting and instrument performance.
I'm 46 and you guys remember me watching MTVs Beavis and Butthead ! I loved that show back in the days I was about 16. Check out older Metallica albums too, and try to keep out of that kind of smoke.
Honestly Master Of Puppets by Metallica is a must listen album. It's perfect for anyone who wants to get into metal. It's a really accessible album but also really heavy and fast. Same goes for Ride The Lightning, also by Metallica.
You guys are great. I grew up and was in HS in the 90's and never listened to this album fully. I'm loving your first listens and first reactions and I'm actually digging into some old stuff that I'd never given a chance before because of your reviews. Back in the day when we had to go to a store to get an actual tape or CD! My friends and I would make a point to go cd shopping. Then we'd listen to an album all the way through, just like this. Good stuff kiddos ;)
Dudes, you guys have a great format and a great friendship, makes me miss my good old days. Keep it up! Next? Justice for All for old Metallica or Hardwire for kick-ass new Metallica.
The Black album is a turning point for metallica breaking into mainstream stardom. Many older fans before black album cried that metallica changed their sound and sold out but nowadays most can see it is awesome hard rock album with great songwriting, the best rock production ever, and Metallica's last great album
Wow, this was a fun reaction to stumble upon. I’m not old af but I’m born the year this came out. Raised on them and my fav band ever, always fun to see ppl experience them for the first time. And you guys had fun n chill banter, keep it up, very nice reaction vid format. Tallica for life
Love the setup and video! Since you guys enjoyed this soo much, I would recommend doing the very same thing with Metallica "Live in Seattle 1989". It will show you what a live Metallica show is like, and viewers and you guys will love it. They are amazing live.
I saw them on this tour. I was the "chaperone" for my 17-year-old nephew. 😂😂😂 He bought the tickets, I drove. No opener, a fecking looooong show. Awesome.
Me and my buddies drove downtown and bought this album at midnight the day of its release. We then drove to a beach with a two four and had the exact same reaction you guys had. Honestly you will have that same reaction with there first 5 albums. Good to know it still has that same reaction today on younger people still.
Just had an ADHD Hyperfocus on your comments on the amendments. I have had an evolving opinion on the 2nd amendment. Used to be all in favor but pulled back as I got older. Just started to see all these flaws in the mindset of "arm up, boys! 'Merica" Largely overlooked thing about the 2nd Amendment, is that it also promotes regulation. The literal words being: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" That doesn't mean "Everyone gets a gun!" it means "If you want to form a militia to fight for the rights of people, provided that militia is regulated, that is your right and it shall not be infringed." You're meant to join a militia and train up and do so in a regulated fashion in order to secure your arms. It's to prevent tyranny, but was never designed for civilians to possess an arsenal. More for the people to have a means to fight back if the government decided to turn its own weapons against the people. I do like the idea of having a weapon for self-defense, especially if you feel that you live somewhere that a firearm will make you feel more safe. If you live somewhere you expect gunfire, yeah, sure, get a gun. But if you live in a safe area, and you're like "I need a gun for self defense.... there hasn't been a break-in in my neighborhood since 1993, but... I need the bang bang machine."--- I'm just laughing. Buy a bat. It'll do you better. And I posit that if you think you need more than one firearms for self defense, then you suck at self defense. A handgun should suffice. A shotgun would be even better, but more risky due to the spread. I don't need a gun. I live in a city, but I never feel unsafe. I was taught how to fight at a young age, and better than that, I was taught how to get out of a fight before something happens. How to deescalate, how to identify threats, how to disarm people, etc. Don't need a gun personally. I know how to shoot. I have been to the range. I'm pretty good with a rifle, better with a handgun (It's the posture, I guess). But I also was raised in a neighborhood that largely sees guns as a sign of weakness. "What, you can't fight with your own hands? Fkn loser." My personal opinion: everyone should know how to shoot. Most people don't NEED a gun. Those that do only really NEED one. Nobody needs to own an arsenal. You don't need a soldier's weapon. Not that it'll do anyone any good anyway. The funny thing about the 2nd amendment, even the most ARMED civilian, will still lose 95 out of 100 times to the basic armed US Soldier. They have the training, the armor, the skillsets. Jimmy Buckshot McGee with his Bass Pro Shop Hat and his arma-lite isn't going to do shit if we DID go full tyranny. Plus, the modern wars are fought in the markets, online and in the media. Not with guns. You wanna win the war, speak. Raise awareness. Pressure the vested interests. Better yet, press for the dismantling of Citizens United and the financial incentives of politics via lobbying. Hit them in their wallets. That scares the political powers that be WAY more than any gun can. 1st Amendment > 2nd Amendment any day. Hit those corporations in their wallets and the "tyranny" you fear gets taken out before they can even bother aiming a gun. Regardless, the founding fathers wrote the constitution with the intention it would be added to, modified, updated as the world, technology and morals evolve. I believe in the Constitution. But I also believe that the strength of the constitution is in its designed flexibility. It's weakness is in the inflexibility the current 2 party system creates, obstructing any improvements. My ADHD Hyperfocus broke just now and I lost my train of thought. So I'll just leave it there. It is what it is. Have a good day everybody.
I love your reaction style, and I'm super excited to see your reactions to In Rainbows, In Utero, and The Wall. Some other albums I would love to see you react to include. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (1993) Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness (2008) Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven (2000) Slint - Spiderland (1991) MF DOOM & Mad Lib - Madvillany (2004) my bloody valentine - loveless (1991) Yes - Close to the Edge (1972) Converge - Jane Doe (2001) Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition (2016) Swans - Soundtracks For The Blind (1996) The Velvet Underground & Nico - Self Titled (1967) All of these are cult classic albums across a variety of genres, and they're all among my favorites. Some of them are bit more challenging and experimental, but I think they would all make for great reactions.
Fun reaction! This is a great album, but you definitely love it a lot more than I do. I listened to it a few weeks ago, and found out that metal isn't really my thing. There are no songs here I dislike, but I find it a bit too heavy and repetitive, and not really what I vibe with personally, so I've only liked about half of the songs on Spotify. Nothing Else Matters and The Unforgiven are 2 of my favorite songs, and I really like Enter Sandman too, but most of the rest of the album don't live up to those for me, maybe with the exception of My Friend of Misery! I appreciate this album a bit more now, but most of it isn't my taste, and that's OK. It's fantastic for what it's going for, with some great messages, and I'll come back to some of the songs, especially those softer ones! I recommend listening to Fleetwood Mac, specifically the album Rumours. It's soft-rock and very different from this, but it's perhaps my favorite album, and all of the songs are really great! The band has several amazing albums, but that's the most essential one, with their self-titled from 1975 and Tusk also being a couple of my favorites, in general too.
This album made me a musician at age 12. My whole life has been music since. Been in many bands, produced and developed artists, owned several studios in Chicago, played in front of thousands of people a few times, etc... All cause of what this record did to me as a kid. NOTHING before this sounded so hard. The power of that kick, the crack of that snare... just fucks so hard. And this isn't even Metallica's best and most iconic work that changed metal. This was just them saying "Let's do a high def, yet laid back version of what we do". Their older stuff is far more creative, original, and insane. Great reaction guys.
You guys just took me back 30 years ago in an hour. This album is a fucking musical duty. I was exactly like you the first time and it's the perfect example of what this group of tracks can and will still doing for the next generations, as fresh as the 1st day. It will continue blowing away heads around the world. Cheers.
This is commercial Metallica and softer than their 80s albums. This is their 5th Album and the first Metallica Album I listened to. People in the comments have recomended Ride the Lightning next but Mater of Puppets is considered the greatest song and Album in metal history. MOP will blow your head off. You have not heard anything like it. Rust in Peace by Megadeth (masterpiece of thrash metal) and Reign in Blood by Slayer (one of the most intense albums ever) are a close 2nd and 3rd for greatest Metal Albums ever. Also do Toxicity by System of a Down (one of the best 00s metal albums) and Vulgar Display of Power by Pantera (one of the best 90s metal albums) You need to do a Trash Metal marathon. Master of Pupets (Metallica), Rust in Peace (Megadeth), Reign in Blood (Slayer), Among the Living (Anthrax) and Arise (Sepultura)
For years, this was always my favorite album. Definitely it’s their best production work by far. Writing, I give a slight edge to AJFA and MoP. After hearing some of the various “And Justice for Jason” mixes on YT that do a better job of mixing in the bass, I give that one the nod. Even so, picking my favorite of these albums is like picking my favorite kid…I just can’t do it.
Many people have this as their favourite Metallica album but more commonly the two that top it in most peoples eyes are “Master of Puppets” and “Ride the Lightning”. Ride the Lightning is personally my favourite and I think y’all would love it, if you can you should check it out soon. I found y’all through this video and I’m excited to follow y’all find more music
Buy a tent weight bag for that lamp, the kind that you can fill with sand or rocks and wrap with velcro around the base of the lamp! I’ve seen that light fall in a couple of your videos so far haha
When I first heard this album (when it came out, coz I'm old as fuck) I hated it. It came on the back of And Justice for All, and it couldn't have been more different. Felt like a betrayal. In time, the album grew on me and I understood that these guys were visionaries. They knew thrash metal was a thing of the past, and they wanted to open up new paths, to bring their music to more people. Now I listen to it and yeah, it's a total banger!
When i was in high school playing basketball, we played this during our starting lineups were announced. Was epic as all get out. Talk about adrenaline before a game. But back then it wa snot used regularly like it is today. Matter of fact, no other facility i went to did that. At least in my region. I graduated in 2002 for reference.
Oh my god I'm honestly surprised you guys liked it that much. It's the heaviest thing you guys have reacted to for sure. For more stuff in this vein, you've gotta check out Rage Against The Machine's self titled album. One of the greatest debuts ever, and even though it's from the early 90s, it sounds way more modern (both in subject matter and sonically). Also, In Utero by Nirvana is more in this vein. It's not thrash metal, but it's far more raw, loud, and dirty than Nevermind, while still being filled to the brim with hooks.
If y'all like the sludgier guitar sound that Kirk used on this album, he was partially inspired by Kim Thayil from Soundgarden. The same year as this album was Soundgarden's album "Badmotorfinger". That would be a great album to review.
Looks like the music is bringing down the house... great catch brotha😁...badass in 1991__ Badass now... I say do RIDE THE LIGHTNING...Metallica FAN4LIFE🤘🏽😎
As a young man with relatively good musical ear '91 came in like a century storm Definitely good things prior to, and yet The big boys stepped up and delivered new levels
If you haven't already, i recommend reacting to Remain In Light - Talking Heads In Rainbows - Radiohead F♯ A♯ ∞ [Expanded Version] - God Speed You! Black Emporer In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie
I haven't heard LYSF yet, but considering I only heard F# A# yesterday and it's my favorite album, I know its going to be good EDIT: still prefer F# A# but they should definitely react to LYSF
"This is gonna be a legendary album" has me rolling lmao oh shoot and then ur light fell that's hilarious You guys should listen to 3D Country by Geese for some new rock music For some more Metalica, you've gotta try Master of Puppets. The title track blew up recently because of Stranger Things, but the whole album is spectacular. If you listen to it, you'll see The Black Album is like an ultra-refined version of a lot of the ideas they invented on Master of Puppets. The Black Album was made to be played in stadiums. Master of Puppets was made to be played in a small venue.
Just one opinion here. Let the whole record play. No skips. Let me explain. The ones we like the album have no problem listening to the whole song again. Especially the ones we like the most. And if by any chance someone that has never heard the album before shows up. The best thing for them will be to listen to the whole song along with you guys. Just my opinion
The purist Metallica fans actually didn’t like this album when it came out. They called it a commercial sellout. It was more musical and less hardcore metal compared to their first ten years of music. On the other hand, this album gave the band a whole new audience since they did music videos for most of the songs on the album. MTV actually played music videos back in the 80’s - early 90’s before it became a reality TV channel. I saw them in concert in the late 80’s. They had a wild show back then. About 2/3 though, the simulated the stage blowing up. They had a guy in a fire suit totally on fire running out from under the stage. The roadies put him out with CO2 extinguishers and everything went dark. About 2 minutes later a single light bulb was dropped down from the ceiling with an extension cord and the did the rest of the show acoustic. No one was sure if the fire was real or staged. I didn’t know till the next day when there was nothing in the newspaper about a fire at the concert.
What’s next for Metallica?
...And Justice for All
Either ride the lighting or master puppets would be a good follow up🤘🏼
ride the lightning
Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice for All
Tempo of the damned exodus
literally the best way to review ANY music, outside with a nice campfire and some drinks. well done gentlemen
besides the vaping
@chevelle8091 I grew up with a lot of family smoking heavily, so a single vape doesn't mean shit lol
The Metallica rabbit hole will blow your mind
Agree!
metallica rabbit hole is not too deep) from this album backwards
Metallica fan...and I can't understand the hate this album got from some "fans". It has stood the test of time. Love it.

Not scared to say that this is one of the most legendary albums of all music genres. Good react btw 🔥
Black album and a few beers, sounds like a great time
Beers?
That catch was insane 😅 \m/
Every solo James writes are so perfect! Nothing else matters, first solo in MOP, to live is to die he has such good feel
and his solo in Orion.
His solo in Suicide and Redemption is badass
@TheDivisionAddict are you drunk?😂 every solo I mentioned was written by James
@TheDivisionAddict Jason inspired blackened guitar riff yeah but he was never on mop😂 and I don’t think you know the difference between a guitar riff or solo
This album helped me get through workouts when I was 14.
Literally listening to it as I type in the gym
Best band ever….Do all Metallica’s albums in chronological order….you will be blown away by all the bangers 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘😉

I just recommended Rage too! They would shit themselves hearing those riffs.
Can I humbly request Master of Puppets, Metallica's magnum opus album
This Album is a 9. Master of Puppets is a 10.
Please react to Lateralus by Tool. one of the best albums of all time IMO
Seconded!
Thirded!
I say do RIDE THE LIGHTNING...Metallica FAN4LIFE🤘🏽😎
I hate the hate that it gets from Metallica fans but album is fire.
Alright, now you boys need some Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Love this album. Every song rips 🎉
Most underrated podcast type channel ever
As a young man with relatively good musical ear
'91 came in like a century storm
Definitely good things prior to, and yet
The big boys stepped up and delivered new levels
Fire, alcohol, great music, and great company. Times like these are worth living for
Yall definitely gotta check out their 4 albums before this one
Yes. Later ones can be skipped.
@@Dukkha-Bhavanashould’ve skipped this one too
If possible, it would be dope to have one of these fire pit reactions in a live
If you haven't already, i recommend reacting to
Remain In Light - Talking Heads
In Rainbows - Radiohead
F♯ A♯ ∞ [Expanded Version] - God Speed You! Black Emporer
In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson
Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie
To clarify, The expanded version of f sharp a sharp is the only version on streaming.
I second In The Court of The Crimson King. Next level in '69
hmm antennas to heaven or slow riot ep would be cool too@@The_Jnrel
I haven't heard LYSF yet, but considering I only heard F# A# yesterday and it's my favorite album, I know its going to be good
EDIT: still prefer F# A# but they should definitely react to LYSF
All of them except DCFC and Lift You Skinny Fists Like Antenna To Heaven instead of F# A#
Led Zeppelin 4 will fuck your minds!
Thumbs up for the chug and the metal!
💪🏻😤 Definitely check out And Justice or Master of Puppets.
Back in black ACDC is one of the best rock albums of the 80, recomendation.
I think Back in Black is highly overated. Highway to Hell is much better
If youre enjoying this heavy 90s metal sound you should check out "Far Beyond Driven" by Pantera
you definitely should listen to Rust In Peace by Megadeth
Gettin ripped and disovering Metallica will always be a special time.
we wanna see that loveless reaction
"This is gonna be a legendary album" has me rolling lmao oh shoot and then ur light fell that's hilarious
You guys should listen to 3D Country by Geese for some new rock music
For some more Metalica, you've gotta try Master of Puppets.
My dude on the left was getting smoked OUT during Sad but True
Should be pretty buzzed at the end of album boys
you guys should definitely check out Master of Puppets or ...And justice for all, 2 of the best Metallica albums
You guys really should react to a stones album, sticky fingers or exile would be great to start!!
FIRST!!! Lets go baby!!
There’s a sense of Hell yeah when you guys chug
11:26 Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt. ~ Sun Tzu, Art of War
Since you got your feet wet with The Unforgiven, you should do a video on the trilogy. All three, on different albums and totally different sounds.
Sepultura's "Chaos AD" is an album you must listen if you like trash/groove metal
Listen to Kill 'Em All or Ride the Lightning. The best Metallica albums
Patrons, it’s time for master of puppets 😉 😉
IRON MAIDEN PLEASEEEEEEEEEE
Just one opinion here.
Let the whole record play. No skips. Let me explain. The ones we like the album have no problem listening to the whole song again. Especially the ones we like the most.
And if by any chance someone that has never heard the album before shows up. The best thing for them will be to listen to the whole song along with you guys. Just my opinion
Good to see young dude with GOOD taste in music taste….because music today is NOT MUSIC…shitty plastic computer “music”, KEEP ROCKIN YOUNG GENTS!
Lamb of god as the palaces burn
Y'all should listen to the far beyond driven album by pantera
heyy since you're starting to make videos on metal music, maybe react to some TOOL album, i'd recommend to start with either Ænima or Lateralus :)
another great reaction.....i saw Metallica in concert with GNR...............Can you please react to Duran Duran- "Ordinary World?" It is exceptional
Would love to see you guys check out far beyond driven-Pantera
You guys should definitely listen to Tool, either Lateralus or 10,000 Days!
Alright... I think everyone will agree when I say it's time for In Rainbows.
This is why your parents,aunts and uncle are in fact cool :}
Vulgar display of Power by Pantera
😂 my guy on the left is getting rekt
I subbed do and justice for all from metallica or master of puppets or ride the lightning 💯🥂
