Fun Fact: James Hetfield, the singer of the band actually hates Escape because their label at the time forced them to make more radio-friendly song in the last minute.
That just shows how good they were in their prime where their label forces them to make a radio-friendly song last minute and it’s still pretty good in consensus
Same with Sabbath's Paranoid track. The track is a last to be written for a radio-friendly contract and ended up being the most famous song.
@@zackzallie8735 It's kind of the opposite of Paranoid too since while Paranoid is still iconic more than 50 years on, Escape was forgotten the moment the album came out.

The story goes that the album was pretty much finished at seven songs but the label was scared that they couldn't promote any songs as a single so they asked for a more commercial song and....Escape was born
Master of puppets was always my favorite by them, but you can't go wrong with any of their first 5 albums
Absolutely! The black album is so over hated. Say whatever about the overplayed songs, The Unforgiven and Sad but true are classics. I honestly would place the black album above Kill em all in my ranking

my favourite story of my dad’s youth is where he had written down the lyrics to Fade To Black- because he did that with basically all his albums- and his parents thought it was a suicide note 💀💀

Kill Em All's production for me has its rawness of speed metal and thrash metal. Its so garage-y and full of adrenaline rush. Cliff Burton contributed so much to early Metallica.

Fight Fire With Fire is my absolute favorite Metallica song. I'm not typically huge on them in all honesty but the first few albums absolutely hit.
It’s a very great intro, but I’m still kind of torn on how I just can’t figure out where the down beat is.

The production and mix on Kill 'Em All are kinda punk with how raw they are (like Anesthesia kinda sounds like a demo track), and that's why I love it! It's oldschool, but you can still hear how talented and hungry the band was.

@@DTheAustralian I think is more of an acquired taste, but after some years of listening to Megadeth, i can't picture anyone replacing Mustaine on vocals (at least on the older records, nowadays is another history)

Prog metal fans are too elitist to admit it but Metallica definitely has some very progressive songs, this album and Master of Puppets are a proof of that.
AJFA is pretty much a prog metal record through and through
Prog metal fans thought prog means its just many notes can put one single song.
Unless the song switches time signatures like 26 times, prog metal fans will stay unimpressed

The only reason I prefer MoP is because I prefer the weakest track on that (Leper Messiah) over the weakest track on this one (Escape) MoP 10/10 RTL 9.99/10 If Metallica wants to put on the greatest metal show of all time theyd perform Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and close out with Blackened and One

James’s voice on this album sooo good. I don’t know who or what he’s channeling but it sounds amazing. The build up of call of Cthulhu is literally like Cthulhu is rising as they are playing.
As someone who loves Metallica's first 3 albums, I'm really happy to see Brad loving this.

That is such an unbelievably near impeccable album run and it really proves that Metallica is not the best, but without a doubt, the greatest Metal band that's existed. You just can't go wrong listening to any of those albums.
Btw Brad. Listen to Megadeth, which is also another excelent Thrash Metal band and personally my favorite of the genre.

I've never been a huge Metallica fan, but these streams have really changed my point of view, at least with their early discography. This is great!

Master is slightly better
Creeping Death was the last Metallica song I heard among the classic 4 albums, it's definitely in my top 3.
I'm not sure if Brad would like AJFA purely because of the mix. Hell it's in my top five ever records and even I prefer a fan mix. The song length might throw him off too because AJFA isn't as catchy as MOP
Fade to black is a top10 song all time for me

This was the first album I ever bought as an 8 year old. It’s on cassette and I still own it. I have this on original record, cassette, and cd. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are complete masterpieces.

This is my second favorite Metallica after St. Anger, it's so lively and fun. And it's the best of their 80s output, although Justice is also VERY strong.
