When we first traveled to Valentine and the wagon lost a wheel, Hosea spotted the Indians on the hill. He then told Arthur about how the land originally belonged to them, and how the Americans had taken it mercilessly, forcing the last of them to move out.
Arthur got valentine curse doesn't make any sense Arthur actually never lived in valentine he was friend with Charles he bacome friend with indians I think it's a good reason cut this from the game
@@ali-grizzlythe video didn't say he literally got the curse, but that the curse closely parallels Arthur's actions and sickness -- he did something evil against the innocent, and now must suffer for it

I'd like to see a video investigating where Karen could have gone after she disappeared in Beaver Hollow because I have some ideas that might lead somewhere. I know we have Tilly's letter but Tilly only has a theory. People have speculated that Karen got taken by the Murfrees after stumbling out of camp or Micah and Cleet and Joe having something to do with her disappearance but her horse disappears with her so I think she just left. Apparently there is NPC dialogue in Saint Denis in the epilogue about a blonde woman pretending to be a saloon girl robbing men. This might be somewhere in the game files waiting to be found like the stagecoach dialogue and the digging animations. I believe that originally her story had a better ending because nobody ever really mentions her after her disappearance and especially in the epilogue, almost like something related to her in Chapter 6 or the Epilogue was cut from the game. I saw an interview with the cast of the female gang members where Karen's actress Jo Armeniox said that there were some deleted scenes with Karen so maybe there are remnants of them in the game files aswell depending on what stage of development they were deleted in. I hope there is enough there to potentially make a video out of
By this point, John has seen a lot of things and I doubt a skeleton or even a bunch of them would be enough to startle him, but what if there was something disturbing about the bones, say, if he found the bones of children or infants, and realizing you're standing on a mass grave which contains a lot of those would probably faze anyone, especially a man who has a child of his own. But, I reckon it's more likely he was disturbed in the animation just because he didn't realize he was standing in a mass grave until he noticed there were more skulls than just the one he initially picked up.
Valentine's curse is inspired by "In the treasure of superstition mountain", the eagle is the eagle drawn on Window Rock and the treasure is that of the statues. Glenn Ford's 1949 film "Lust for gold" is inspired by this curse; in the film the treasure is marked through a rock window as Window Rock. This treasure is protected by Indian ghosts and caused a massacre "The Peralta Massacre." In Rdr2 it is the Fort Riggs massacre. The Fort Riggs massacre is inspired by the Sand Creek massacre because of the drawing divided into 4 pieces.

The mass grave animation is him: digging out a skull, thinking why is this here, digging more and finding another bone or more bones and then being freaked out because he understands there's a grave under him or he's on a mass grave
Hosea also mentioned something about the Indians at the end of chapter one when you're on your way to Clemens Point and you saw Rain Falls for the first time. Hosea said that the Indians "in these parts" (I would assume Valentine or around Valentine) have lost their land, get stolen from them and they're also killed or herded up to the reservations in the middle of nowhere.
When John picks up the skull considering how clueless he can actually be sometimes i think he got startled by the fact that he didn't realize he was standing in a mass grave i mean finding part of an old crusty skull is one thing but finding that then what appears to be him brushing off something else on the ground with his knife (an old cloth headband maybe?) then frantically looking around realizing that he's been standing on top of dozens maybe hundreds of them the entire time Also that ending skit can be explained by this little joke i got John: What the fuck why you stupid bird? Eagle: You really think loading a previous save makes me forget you shooting my grave punk? John: Oh fuck

Also in regards to Arthur & the curse - he meets Mr. Downes before the mission on the Downes ranch. After beating up the Saloon owner, Mr. Downes stops Arthur from killing him (you can already see him coughing there too). In a cruel kind of way he already found the man that would ultimately bring him into the grave, even if it's after his own death by infecting him with Tuberculosis. Arthur getting infected blood in his mouth when confronting Mr. Downes could've been avoided, by not manhandling the guy. But in Arthurs world, beating people up for not paying their debt is the normal thing to do - so being at least gentle would've avoided him getting blood in his mouth. I do think the curse ties into that. It gave Arthur a choice and Arthur decided to do the morally wrong thing, therefore getting infected and succumbing to the disease. I'm kinda sad that R* deleted most of this content. It could've been a way to tie in the very real history around Settlers and native Americans who were often times killed for their land and ressources. But at the same time I can kinda understand why they didn't add this stuff, the whole stereotype of "indian graveside" plus a curse is very overdone by now and kinda weird to do, since it portrays this stereotype of Natives being "supernatural" beings that haunt people who's houses were built on their gravesites. My mom side of the family is Native. My Uncle was a speaker and singer in ceremonies. I just got a bunch of stuff from the rez. Rattles, drums, and other cool stuff. She had a False Face. That's what these masks are. They used to (and some still do) wear the masks and come into a sick persons room and dance and sing to rid the sickness and/or spirits from their body. False faces are hung with tobacco to give them their power. I had it in my house for a week and my mom told me it didn't have power as it hadn't been hung with tobacco. During the week i had it, I saw things from the corner of my eye. Like a shadow that I couldn't quite see. I gave it back to the False Face Society for them to keep. I felt like I didn't deserve to have it anyway. I'm not a spirtual person and I'm a skeptic of all paranormal. Now that it's history, I feel as though I may have manifested my guilt of having something special that didn't belong to me, but part of me still thinks there's a small chance something else felt as though it didn't belong to me and let me know. I'm happy it is where it truly deserves to be now. This is the honest truth. Just after Christmas I asked my mom for any cultural artifacts so I could pass them down. I'm half, so my son is ¼. His kids will be ⅛ and not know their great grandmother. At least they'll have some items to remind them where they came from. A False Face isn't necessary. ❤
If you want the for real truth about those things, they can from pagan sorcery that's been around for thousands of years. People may refer to those things as cultural or history, but that's because they are unaware of it's true nature.
What would startle me is finding a child skull with a bullet hole in it. Also, in one of my playthroughs I was in Valentine and saw two indians on horses at the edge of the cliff by Valentine just watching the town. I don't remember if it was post story or during the story but if you are standing facing the front of the sheriffs office and turn right, it was up on that cliff behind the church. I went up there and they didn't interact with me at all. Just stood there watching the town. No mission or anything, but seems like it would have something to do with this.
I'm honestly really interested in why so much of the content for the Valentine Curse secret went unused or wasn't completed. Like, yeah, it's a very touchy subject to find a mass grave of massacred Indians, but it's not like RDR hasn't handled very touchy subjects for the time period before and they've mostly done it respectfully, if not with a bit of humour if it's a subject about the evils of the past (such as the KKK). Why was it never included, do you think?
It could very easily be just time constraints. RDR2 is massive and with Rockstar’s standard of quality they must’ve decided that they wouldn’t have the time to finish and implement a lot of things. Like this and the Lake Monster or the kidnapped princess. Video games are hard to make
theres tons of stuff in other games rockstar has left unused despite being finished, nobody but them know why, perhaps houser brothers didn't like it for whatever reason, or they just had no time to fully complete it
Houdy, Strange Man. I have some interesting info for you! The voice actor of Arthur just said in the Gamology youtube channel that the wife of the Mayor of Strawberry was a man that wanted to be a woman, and that you could eavesdrop one fight between them. Maybe the actual dialogue was cut? I know you’ve covered this mystery, but there is more to it; bet you will figure it out quite soon!
Sometimes you can spot two indians on horses on a hill near the valentine church. It's super rare though and they disappear if you come to close to them
John probably both saw something that connected the mass grave bones to native Indians as well as, imho, bullet holes. That would have been the clearest giveaway.
In some way, I kind of hope that Rockstar would re-release red dead redemption 2 but with a vast amount of removed things added back in. Probably even add some too online so players have more reasons to explore the Map.
For the question at 11:06 I think it could be something relative to a child (child skull/bones, clothe, shoe, or a toy maybe?). The article in the newspaper specified a massacred native family. It could explains why A and J are shocked, but it also could be a tone of bones or an artifact related to a curse ceremony.
You don’t think the van da Lin gang was cursed in Valentine because after chapter 2 people started to die like Sean Kiera Hosa lenny moly miss girmshaw and Arthur
Probably an infant skull after he picked up the larger one of an adult and he probably assumed it to be a man at first until “my opinion probably an infant skull next” which would startle any man or woman with morals. Just my hypothesis hence why they would remove the whole incident so it may not offend parents whom lost a child. But this would be interesting to hear the triggered dialogue and what it all leads to like a character confrontation
They could have readded these things to the game instead of solely focusing on that damned online mode. The game could have been so much more - if that is even possible. Online mode is what ruined the future of this game
Great video ! I wish they would've added some of the deleted content in later updates of the game. I understand some of it was discarded because it could have messed up with the plot a bit, but most of it is referenced in the game anyway (like the missing princess and stuff). Maybe they had to discard some elements to release the game on time, but I don't really understand why they never put it back later on... Anyway, this game is my own personal curse, because no other game has been that good for the past 6 years. The fact that you still make videos about it and discover new things is a good proof that this game is a true masterpiece. I've played it for up to a thousand hours, but your videos never fail to make me wanna give it some more time.
I wish GTA viewer's find your channel after GTA6 got released cause you deserve bro, and i hope GTA6 audience not gonna fall in trap of the clickbait KING content thief MrbossWTFH like we GTA5 RDR2 fan's have to suffer through 2017-2021
Watching game files is like birthday & x-mas together! I know every second, every dialog, every stone and every tree but I don't know the game files. I wished I could delete my memories and start the game again. I loved the 2nd play through sooooo much!!!❤
I can just picture the overworked Rockstar staff member animating the mass grave scene, looking to his partner and saying “don’t you think maybe we’re putting too much stuff into this game?” while his friend is animating the revolver tricks and says like “you might be right”.
On one of your next videos of the details, a lot of people don't know, but if you throw your lasso onto a piano, it plays the keys you hit with it. (Found out in Saint denis)
It's a bit of a shame they removed basically all traces in the release...even the printed items were removed (although you can spawn them in) I would've liked them to have put the Eagle Talon Talisman in the place where the Mass Grave was - that could've atleast been a hint , rather than only giving it with the Special / Ultimate Edition versions It also would've given players of the normal version the chance to get it as well
Would love it if they keeps this story and arthur stumbling in it and when he talks to rains fall he have a option on talking about the curse and the grave site and its also a how its great how he helps them in contras how the other people have treated them like bad luck comes to bad actions and good things happens to good intentions.
Wonder why all of this was cut, considering it seemed mostly findished. Guessing they were afraid of backlash for cultural insensitivity for using Indian burial ground tropes. Unfortunate.
Honestly they need to add all removed content and somehow tie in this curse with the finding of the Axe's to a curse that's makes everyone ill in Valentine. A few days later those ill turning into flesh eating crazies, finally with that being the introduction to Undead Nightmare 2😂 Edit: That ending tho😂
3:23 it's also confirmed in the beginning of chapter two when Charles said it was Indian land once (but also I kinda feel like some of this is a mod, if not lmk)

What is so weird about the American eagle in America doesn't sound like anything to me
7:57 Strange Man caught lacking 😏
Two Times!! Two times!!!
2:34 😂😂
What would startle me is finding a child skull with a bullet hole in it. Also, in one of my playthroughs I was in Valentine and saw two indians on horses at the edge of the cliff by Valentine just watching the town. I don't remember if it was post story or during the story but if you are standing facing the front of the sheriffs office and turn right, it was up on that cliff behind the church. I went up there and they didn't interact with me at all. Just stood there watching the town. No mission or anything, but seems like it would have something to do with this.
@2:34 👀
I think John was startled by a childs skull, is my guess
1:08 no F-ing way, i didn't even know npcs can talk to each other
Strange Man your outros keep getting better and better. absolute art
Are you homosexual
It could very easily be just time constraints. RDR2 is massive and with Rockstar’s standard of quality they must’ve decided that they wouldn’t have the time to finish and implement a lot of things. Like this and the Lake Monster or the kidnapped princess. Video games are hard to make
theres tons of stuff in other games rockstar has left unused despite being finished, nobody but them know why, perhaps houser brothers didn't like it for whatever reason, or they just had no time to fully complete it
They delivered 30% of the game. Half of the map is useless.
Eagle flies, Eagle lands
Sometimes you can spot two indians on horses on a hill near the valentine church. It's super rare though and they disappear if you come to close to them
Lmfao someone said he encountered them but they said non about the subject
John probably both saw something that connected the mass grave bones to native Indians as well as, imho, bullet holes. That would have been the clearest giveaway.
In some way, I kind of hope that Rockstar would re-release red dead redemption 2 but with a vast amount of removed things added back in. Probably even add some too online so players have more reasons to explore the Map.
I just had the realization: What if Eagle Flies is the only survivor of the massacre ...
Jesus the last part in the video with the eagle coming up to John
2:33 now that's a very huge curse
You don’t think the van da Lin gang was cursed in Valentine because after chapter 2 people started to die like Sean Kiera Hosa lenny moly miss girmshaw and Arthur
That's a possibility, but if they DID get cursed, it was before Valentine, probably before the Ferry job in Blackwater as well
@@MidgarKnight Micah was the curse.🐀
@@geraltrivia6148 are you heterosexual
Reach. One of the gang already died in the intro before they even reached Valentine.
@@paradoxpizza and other 2 died off screen as well
I think what was in the mass grave that put John off was another one of those masks...although potentially with a bullet hole in it or something.
2:34 was diabolical 💀
I’ll never miss a strange man video! (Like actually, we are still finding new secrets to a game published in 2018)
Probably an infant skull after he picked up the larger one of an adult and he probably assumed it to be a man at first until “my opinion probably an infant skull next” which would startle any man or woman with morals. Just my hypothesis hence why they would remove the whole incident so it may not offend parents whom lost a child. But this would be interesting to hear the triggered dialogue and what it all leads to like a character confrontation
This drop is big enough news that it pulled me away from Wukong for a few mins! keep up the good work Strange Man
The money I would pay for an extended version...
It's obvious that it's about Eagle Flies, that man was very mystical, he was the one who placed the 'curse' on Valentine.
solved by the Strange Man himself
They could have readded these things to the game instead of solely focusing on that damned online mode. The game could have been so much more - if that is even possible. Online mode is what ruined the future of this game
Always good when there’s a new video notification from StrangeMan
So stupid how they deleted all this content, would've made the world much creepier.
When the people talk about the curse, it looks like im loading in a custom zombie map in cod
Or another version of Undead Nightmare.
I beat it at a 100% all hats, animals, side quests, missables. Etc. but now I’m getting the urge again. Thank you strange man
Brilliantly put together as usual. The death of Arthur kills me every time.
imagine the guy who brought up beecher's hope finding out the guy who fought off the skinner brothers was sitting right there
Another beautiful work by StrangeMan. I wonder why they deleted all these amazing details to the story…
I wish GTA viewer's find your channel after GTA6 got released cause you deserve bro, and i hope GTA6 audience not gonna fall in trap of the clickbait KING content thief MrbossWTFH like we GTA5 RDR2 fan's have to suffer through 2017-2021
Makes sense then for the name of the town to be Valentine after the St Valentines Day Massacre
Good job! Great vid.
7:56 I was not ready for that jump scare
Watching game files is like birthday & x-mas together! I know every second, every dialog, every stone and every tree but I don't know the game files.
I wished I could delete my memories and start the game again. I loved the 2nd play through sooooo much!!!❤
That explains why I’ve never felt easy around Valentine at night!
Fantastic bit of work as always. Fascinating stuff.
(Found out in Saint denis)
the where the eagle lands thing seems to reference how the aztecs found their home
2:34 7:56
Yup it sell’s alright 😊 deep in the mystery yet we get extracted by these.
That zoom out is crazy, btw this is some good stuff the mistery i mean
It's a bit of a shame they removed basically all traces in the release...even the printed items were removed (although you can spawn them in)
I would've liked them to have put the Eagle Talon Talisman in the place where the Mass Grave was - that could've atleast been a hint , rather than only giving it with the Special / Ultimate Edition versions
It also would've given players of the normal version the chance to get it as well
Its honestly crazy that you still find secrets of this game
Would love it if they keeps this story and arthur stumbling in it and when he talks to rains fall he have a option on talking about the curse and the grave site and its also a how its great how he helps them in contras how the other people have treated them like bad luck comes to bad actions and good things happens to good intentions.
Wonder why all of this was cut, considering it seemed mostly findished.
Guessing they were afraid of backlash for cultural insensitivity for using Indian burial ground tropes. Unfortunate.
Considering the ones who will be offended won’t be from that culture themselves.. Maybe i could be wrong, but they love doint that.
2:58 I swear years later and I'm never gonna find that score piece
Same, does somebody know the name?
Might be a long shot, but it might be from the My Last Boy mission or one of the Wanted music themes.
It plays always when you murder somebody randomly
Also, worth a note is the fact that they did mention the occult. Yup.
Have you looked into the thing about prime numbers yet?
Or the lack there of?
And the mask is probably a Kwakwaka’wakw mask of a man.
so much deleted content from this game. Its crazy
Honestly they need to add all removed content and somehow tie in this curse with the finding of the Axe's to a curse that's makes everyone ill in Valentine. A few days later those ill turning into flesh eating crazies, finally with that being the introduction to Undead Nightmare 2😂
Edit: That ending tho😂
I love your intro man
It blows my mind how incredibly deep this game this
3:23 it's also confirmed in the beginning of chapter two when Charles said it was Indian land once (but also I kinda feel like some of this is a mod, if not lmk)
Wake up everybody the goat dropped🎉🎉🎉🎉
Didnt Rev Swanson read a Bible verse while the gang was in colter about a soaring eagle? And Abigail mentioned it in the epilogue.
