I love this series but have to wonder why you didn't remove the refurbished wheels motor and gearbox, it would have taken little room and been ideal for another project or resale, such a pitty
Yes, i would have sold bits of it like the interior, engine, wheels and other stuff not related to the rust issue, they would have ended up with more money that way.
Finally a random episode of people restoring cars with a finale I enjoyed! They should mandate all cars with 10 years, or even 7/8, to be forcibly scraped. We don't keep washing machines in service for more than that, why having cars with so much years of service in public roads?
Gus & will, i just look forward to your series everyday and if i cannot find new i will replay previous just to fill up my days!!! Well done lads. Take care and goodbye.
Why on earth would you leave the newly powder coated wheels on it?! Crazy. I scrap cars every week but always take off alloys, lights easy stuff like that - I mean why get the wheels PPC'd and then scrap them with the car. Nuts.
Now I can cope with the imaginary 5 day turnaround, and I enjoy the banter and the "do it in your own shed" style of repair and I can even understand scrapping the Alfa. But to not realise a few pounds from parting it out makes a true mockery of your fun little show.
The ultimate luxury for me who used to have to keep old bangers running if I wanted a car, was one fine day to just go and buy a brand new car from the showroom. Oddly enough in the long run I found that it was so much cheaper to own and run a new car than an old one. Add in a warranty and no lost time doing unexpected expensive repairs, it was night and day better.
Does'nt make any sense why they take pictures of a car for selling that looks different after the repairs like the wheels in this episode. Sad they didnt finish the rust repairs then they would made more money in the end.
Hi Gus & Will, thank you for your videos. I was very surprised when I saw you guys send a car for the scrap yard, your aim is to have a salary, also you guys have loads of "experience" after spending loads of hours and money in the car and refusing an offer of £300, I still wondering if it could be better selling the car for parts! The wheels were like new, and the engine was okay even had the cambelt changed and some other bits. Sorry for this my comments but is just my opinion.
Sad that they crushed the car. I understand the car was a write off, and not worth fixing, but where I come from, we crush and recycle an empty body shell. There were so many parts that could still be used on other Alfa-Romeo's. Things like lights, wheels, interiour, engine, bumpers, doors, hood, and tailgate. These parts could have saved other Alfa-Romeo's out there. There will always be someone that has the same car with a broken taillight, dented door, cracked bumper or a unrepairable engine. They wasted money and time refurbishing the wheels and replacing the cambelt just to crush the car with these parts still attracted to the car. I am a huge Alfa-Romeo fan, and it broke my heart seeing this episode. Makes me think these guys don't know what they're doing. I've never owned an Alfa-Romeo before, but plan to get myself one some day, I've always loved the Alfa-Romeo GT coupè. Everybody says that Alfa-Romeo just has that something special about it, just that special feeling, or fizz when you sit behind the steering wheel. Let's you know your driving something special, not just a normal boring car. They could still have made some money from this car. Just crush the empty rusted shell, everything off, including glass, doors, fenders ect. If jou didn't have time to completely stripp and sell the salvageable parts, sell the car to someone who has, or want the car as a doner car. What a waste.
The wheels, doors, lights, boot and bonnet, engine, all seemingly good. I would have stripped the car of all or most good parts, then scrap the rest. At least they would have made some of their money back. Crazy.
Beautiful cars, you never see them on the road anymore unfortunately. - geez, should have sold the good parts like the engine and wheels etc. Such a shame!
This show is boss,The guys are just normal guys that's what I love about the show the guys are bringing back cars from the dead ,hope there wil be another series..
Is this program homemade? Looks like A Wheeler dealers knockoff 😂 Putting the car out for auction even before checking for rust is madnes. Rust is the first thing to look for when buying. And not buying it blindfolded. Then starting with changing engine parts and fixing its wheels 😂 Amatures !

As an Alfa owner I know they are very special. I had a so called boring 33, but with a 1.7 twin, 4 choke Webber, Boxer engine...and it was FANTASTIC 3 years of trouble free happy driving. As for this program, the 5 days were not enough, that's all and it could have been fixed with a sensible amount of time. An annoying episode.
I agree with the decision to scrap the body on safety grounds, but I would have thought to remove any saleable items first, interior trim and seats, glass, engine/transmission, wheels, lights and so on. They could have been sold on eBay (hopefully) without a worry.
You paid for the work to be done but didn’t take the wheels and engine out? Yes, they may have been stuck in the corner of the garage for a few weeks but you could have got your money back.
You guys could have broken the car for parts! Engine, gearbox, interior, wheels, lights etc. Surely that would have made £600 plus. And then weigh in the rest.
Det gør du kun én gang!!! Så har du lært: Sæt aldrig penge i en bil, før du er 100% færdig med rustreparation. Syntes det var vildt at den kunne være så flot udvendigt, når den var så blommerød på undersiden
Guys. I don't understand why you wouldn't check underneath before you commit? As you're aware, this can be a game changer as you've found out. Especially at the prices you're working with
Given your experience why didnt you make bigger checkup before buying it? Old italians are known to have rust issues. Also you could have sold certain parts even on ebay like seats and wheels. Not even about profit just wasting reuseable parts.
If these guys are so concerned about rust rot, why don't they bring along a jack, four heavy duty jack stands, and some strong wood block to inspect before buying? I certainly would!
Never buy an Alpha untill you have checked underneath ! I did have a Sud back in the 80s and it was a bloody nightmare. Why you didnt take the wheels home is beyond me !!
I've been enjoying watching random episodes of this series but it all fell apart here. We all know they haven't "given up their day jobs" or they'd be bankrupt by now 😂 But to buy this PoS without inspecting the underneath after knowing it's history was just insane, almost as stupid as starting to weld when you haven't exposed the full horror.
That 5-day thing is a complete fiction. My dad once did an episode of Salvage Squad where I think they claimed 2 weeks to do a project... The reality was it took 10 months of filming..
Love this program but this one pissed me off. Didn't even hear the engine running. Lads sounded like a right pair of girls and gave car away, thankfully not scrapping it fgs 🤦
If scrapping this car & not parting it out is a example of their business sense, they'll be bankrupt soon. But then again it's not a business, it's a TV show.
Wait.... Acteurs or car people? Engine 150 200 with gearbox 50 extra do 250 interior 150 wheels 75 or 100. Extra parts 150. body 50 at the scrapper. So 700 easy. Keep the rest rolling makes it more interesting to watch. So bad so sad
I really enjoy these videos but Alfa’s are known rust buckets. I think there were two other choices here instead of scrapping. The first would have been to strip the car down and sell off the parts. There’s plenty of room in that workshop so the second possibility was to put the car to the side and finish the bodywork in spare time or spend four hours on it each Saturday until completion.
My main concern would be that when you come to sell the car you may have fallen foul of the Sale of Goods Act which says the item must be of "Merchantable Quality" or safe to use. Even given undoubted skill of Will's welding (better than mine) you may never have chased it all out and the car might have been unsafe to used, particularly if involved in an accident later in it's life, people could be hurt and you could be prosecuted.
OK. Love your duo. Hard working and resourceful. But.... doing an Alfa. We all love the idea but their rep is so bad it should have been avoided. Lesson to learn? Swim with the current. Keep it up. Ian
There were evidently many salvageable parts to circulate, it's also not how you survive in this business unless you are working to a dramatize a studio script
Why would they bother with the wheels given all the problems with the car? The wheels should have been the last thing i would've worried about. Save your money.
I do not understand the concept that you only have 5 days. You take the time that is needed to do the job right. If not, find another vocation. Plus Gus should never be allowed to buy another vehicle. Too quick to buy and not willing to invest proper time and money to do the jopb right.
Guys; drive prospective cars onto your ramps and look underneath before buying !!! You're two great guys !!!
A good reclamation yard would have removed all the decent parts for resale before crushing.
Great vid caveat emptor. The wheels were ok and the seats, engine etc. But I guess turning it into a cube was the message o this one 👍
Why didn't they take the wheels and engine out? I thought sam was buying it for £300..
Too much effort for them I guess
It was a goldmine to an Alfa collector for spares@@justingreaves6769
they arent really strapped for cash
Finally a random episode of people restoring cars with a finale I enjoyed!
They should mandate all cars with 10 years, or even 7/8, to be forcibly scraped.

Gus & will, i just look forward to your series everyday and if i cannot find new i will replay previous just to fill up my days!!! Well done lads. Take care and goodbye.
I myself do the same u can't GT anuff of Gus and wil..hope they stay in business and there's a new series coming soon.
I can't believe those wheels went into the crusher.
Why on earth would you leave the newly powder coated wheels on it?! Crazy. I scrap cars every week but always take off alloys, lights easy stuff like that - I mean why get the wheels PPC'd and then scrap them with the car. Nuts.
Agreed....that was not a good decision.
Nothing in this episode was!! @@JoesephBidon
I think they crushed it for the drama.
Now I can cope with the imaginary 5 day turnaround, and I enjoy the banter and the "do it in your own shed" style of repair and I can even understand scrapping the Alfa. But to not realise a few pounds from parting it out makes a true mockery of your fun little show.

That’s the show’s schtick: The 5 days challenge.
Hi Gus & Will, thank you for your videos.

it is a tv-show...
A fake TV show at that...

Emile, 10 year old: I love the show but you really should have sold the wheels and broken it for parts. The message about upcycling is important.
Beautiful cars, you never see them on the road anymore unfortunately. - geez, should have sold the good parts like the engine and wheels etc. Such a shame!
sooo many great parts for the guys in need and you scraped it?
man!
Their mate ripped them off big style...😂

Love these two, just great entertainment!
So funny when he says: We have spent HUGE amounts of money on the wheels......
Jesus Christ just seen end, scrapped, total bollocks total heathens not a good move! Really disappointed ☹️🤬 not car lovers as I thought 😞
How was that running with the plugs immersed in oil??
Best car show ever !
I love Alfas, I had one, will buy another. I laughed when this one got crushed 😅. Sad but fitting end.
some times you win sometimes you loose.. great story
One day they're gonna bring a jack (or even just an endoscope) and look underneath the car before buying.

Hard luck gents
great guys. thank you for having a conscience, not taking the cash offer and not conning the new buyer when it was a lost cause
I agree with the decision to scrap the body on safety grounds, but I would have thought to remove any saleable items first, interior trim and seats, glass, engine/transmission, wheels, lights and so on. They could have been sold on eBay (hopefully) without a worry.
The guy selling it to you knew what was wrong and why he didnt tackle the repairs too
Sad!! Very sad this situation!! 😪😪😪
this is when you're doing a well payed tv-show and not a business which has to make money... 😀
Could have just looked under the car before buying it lol
You paid for the work to be done but didn’t take the wheels and engine out? Yes, they may have been stuck in the corner of the garage for a few weeks but you could have got your money back.

So many parts wasted... you should sell it. Even recyclation is much worse than reusing.
There is one take home here, if the car is dead rotten down there then is very difficult to get it back to something tangible
Piss take
If they have the time they can repair the shell just like Wheeler Dealers stolen Fiesta MK1
Guys. I don't understand why you wouldn't check underneath before you commit? As you're aware, this can be a game changer as you've found out. Especially at the prices you're working with
Yes I agree. I can't believe they wouldn't check especially an Alfa which are renowned for rust.
I just don't understand why you would misspell Alfa, being car enthusiasts.
Possibly copyright avoidance.
it is probably not them putting it up on youtube...
ALFA!!!!!😅
Why did you not sell the wheels???
Love your series. But why are you selling the vehicles so cheap? Greetings from Germany
Given your experience why didnt you make bigger checkup before buying it? Old italians are known to have rust issues. Also you could have sold certain parts even on ebay like seats and wheels. Not even about profit just wasting reuseable parts.
A 9yo Alfa 33 made me almost bankrupt around 1994. It was as rot as this one. Never again.
If these guys are so concerned about rust rot, why don't they bring along a jack, four heavy duty jack stands, and some strong wood block to inspect before buying? I certainly would!
Why the f... Didn't you at least save the wheels you just payed good money to get refurbished? This was just stupid😮
Never buy an Alpha untill you have checked underneath ! I did have a Sud back in the 80s and it was a bloody nightmare. Why you didnt take the wheels home is beyond me !!
Whs is Gus lisping in the in-show summary?
Because he has a lisp you peanut.

No timing marks? BULL! I worked for 10 years at an alpha dealership….. u talk crap!

I don’t know but why not spend a few more days in it
Utterly pointless.
Just bullshit this. Why this drama? It wasn't so much actually. I've seen cars so much worse than this, and now driving on road.
Why didn't they sell it to Sam? And the wheels at the least would have some value.
Car was not safe . So the right thing to do but shame the wheels where nice engine could have been sold for spare parts .
Why wouldn't they take to a place that would save the good parts? I hate scrap yards that just crush.
Why on earth don't you look under the cars before you buy them? Surely that is basic good sense so why do you keep finding out later?
So sad...that car was 80-90% done, and then they just gave up.. smh
Should have been at minimum parted out. What a waste. Sorry, loving the shows but thats a bit of a travesty.
They never check the cars underneath . If they had they would not have missed all the rust!
Why didn't you take the wheels and store them and rip out the motor and sell it online, then scrap it?
OK. Love your duo. Hard working and resourceful. But.... doing an Alfa. We all love the idea but their rep is so bad it should have been avoided. Lesson to learn? Swim with the current.
Keep it up.
Ian
Muppets
damn you
should have saved the wheels
There were evidently many salvageable parts to circulate, it's also not how you survive in this business unless you are working to a dramatize a studio script
Alfa is not spelled Alpha ;)
It's spelled Alfa.
Why would they bother with the wheels given all the problems with the car? The wheels should have been the last thing i would've worried about. Save your money.
They are not selling cars, they are selling tv shows. A failure just adds to the drama.
It"s Alfa Romeo not Alpha Romeo.
the name is Alfa Romeo, not Alpha...
You guys could have picked up a few pounds with those refurbished wheels
There is no "P" in Alfa.
Plenty of salvageable parts that have just been wasted, that's a joke
Could have saved the lights, seats, wheels and more. smh
WTF you did with the wheels? Someone fixed them and you dont even keep them.
what a waste of those already rebuilt/refurbished alloy wheels and engine....
I do not understand the concept that you only have 5 days. You take the time that is needed to do the job right. If not, find another vocation. Plus Gus should never be allowed to buy another vehicle. Too quick to buy and not willing to invest proper time and money to do the jopb right.
Alfa=Rust.
Will drives better as gus hi drives like a grandpa
Wil a better mechanic
So so very wrong, that car was a goldmine of spares, ridiculous to scrap it
What an absolute shame….
