I played this game as a kid without internet access so I had no clue how digivolving worked with its obtuse requirements. I ended up with this green disappointment SO many times. I'd reset over and over trying to get something good. It's wild to see someone beat this game with a Digimon I thought was worthless. Great video, well played.
To be fair, I doubt a SG run would be that different from a normal run, as SG is a pretty decent ultimate digimon as far as I know. But for spooky season it could be great, indeed.
The attacks aren't entirely random. "Your Call" is random. "Attack" uses your higher power move only. *Ultimate Poop Hell takes so long to actually hit it looks like it can easily stun lock opponents if it hits, as the attack cooldown seems to be ready as soon as it's launched.
New command at every 100 brains. After 500 brains, training the stat becomes useless unless you are tryna unlock techniques Your call: uses move randomly Attack: uses stronger attack Moderate: defend against attacks, sometimes moves and attacks Distance: digimon focuses on only moving away from opponent and never attacks Defense: replaces moderate. Digimon focuses on defending and has higher chance to block attacks Use Techniques (500 brains): replaces attack command and allows you to manually choose which move to use

You see, the game doesn't tell you this (classical Digimon World not explaining anything to the players), but you do gain a passive ability which lowers your MP consumption for all your Digimon techniques if you have a high Brains stat. The reductions go like this: 700 Brains: 5% Mp cost reduction 800: 10% 900: 15% 999: 20% If you do happen to reach the 700, 800, 900 or 999 mark through a battle, the game will show you a message saying: "Mp Consumption Bonus", which is known as a NTSC glitch that either softlocks your game or crashes it. So if you're playing the NTSC version, it's best to get past those milestones through training.
This was a very fun series to watch! It must have taken you ages of real time gameplay, not to mention the time editing. Thank you for creating it. I'm excited to see what you come up with next! The Bakemon-only challenge sounds fun.
What an epic journey! Generations passing the torch like One For All, effort piling up to the final moment. I also have to retcon my last comment, MCLEAN is, and will always be, the wisest Numemon to ever live. He should teach us philosophy.

Rookie: Not allowed to fight, only evolve, or use Kunemon (a Centiped) Champion: Ogremon (an Ogre), Devimon (the Devil), Bakemon (a Ghost) or Garurumon (a Werewolf) Ultimate: SkullGreymon (a Skeleton), Giromon (Chainsaw Massacre), Andromon (a Zombie/Android), Vademon (an Alien) or Etemon (a literal grown up man dressed as a Monkey) Additionaly, you are only allowed to explore during night time! No other Digimon or evolution lines allowed!

I know absolutely nothing about Digimon let alone this game yet the first video was so intriguing I kept checking every so often for part 2 and I was not disappointed! Great stuff!
I think if any iteration of this Numemon leniage enters the arena, it'd pretty much have to be DaddyP. Much as apex-MClean was a cathartic moment, DaddyP was the true warrior bred for the arenas. He was the one that rose against the odds and defeated many of the greatest adversaries not as a maxed out god, but simply as the best version of himself. I'd love to see some other challenge runs of this game, yes. Digimon World is quite fun to watch as a long-form series like this and lends itself well to challenge-runs as well. It's just a fun game to watch, getting to see the stories of each Digimon unfold, especially when you can build a narrative around the family-line like this. I'd love to see a Bakemon or Skullgreymon playthrough.
This was a great adventure. I appreciate that you switched to the other names in the poll instead of just sticking with MCLEAN. Maybe a SkullGreymon run of DW3 would be fun. I know Agumon and Kotemon unlock it relatively quickly, just need a bit of Dark Training and some fighting as Greymon, which they unlock at level 5 and 15 respectively.
Excellent video I was really looking forward to part 2 honestly I never finished this game as a child so MacLean Victory is my first time seeing the ending thanks a lot also great taste in music the wild arms in the background was a nice touch

You could've trivialized the adventure with spamming recovery items, but your restraint let something wonderful come together. Thanks for the wonderful series! Also seeing your Numemons almost always at max happiness makes me smile.

Man... I remember playing this game. I never got much beyond Native Forest, because the game was so opaque with what it wanted from you, and I didn't get internet until long after I gave up and traded it in.
I really find so difficult to hate on a Digimon. Up until Hacker's memory I haven't a single situation where I said: "oh no this one" I have favorites but I don't have hated. Also when I was small I like Numemon I saw the eyes and tong and his color he looked cool to my kid eyes
imagine Mameo (the main character of Digimon World 1) telling his friends/classmates that he saved the Digiworld with a freaking NUMEMON.. :D crazy but kudos to you, this is very well made!

Good job, I was hoping you didn't need to max out the stats but here you are, it's possible but very long. Also Etemon is the only Ultimate Digimon with a Filth attack, and the only one he learns is Ultra Poop hell, he also got the first basic filth move by default, but he is not a main Filth type though, there are no such Ultimates. Hence why he is very good in the S-tier in the arena, as many Ultimates are machines. But MCLEAN would surely make it!
"There is nowhere to run from the poop! Nowhere to hide from it! Its everywhere and it hurts! It hurts so much!" Sounds like me after a night of extra spicy taco bell.
I know that Numemon is still weak compared to literally every other champion/ultimate digimon you can get that aren't in the "poop trio", but I'm still baffled by just HOW STRONG numemon can get in this game if you invest enough in it.
I was wondering in the first video about why you won't go to Mojyamon? Don't scream......by getting 6 prosperity without a fight ,you will activate the hidden bridge side quest ( the 6 prosperity are Agumon, Coelamon, Betamon, Bakemon) And you can start multiply the Bits from day 1😂
AWESOME videos, both were a delightful ride, especially as a fan of this game since the US launch on PSX! I have to ask though, why don't you fully charge the Finishers? They would deal a significantly higher amount of damage.

For some fights, I think I did have to go over 3 items 😅 But maybe I'll set a more specific limit for the next playthrough, if I do end up making another one.
It's interesting that beating Mugen/Machinedramon using Numemon is easier than using Monzaemon which is claimed as one of the most powerful digimon in the game

It was an adventure. A grueling one for him, enjoyable for us. In the end, he became the scary Demon Lord of Filth. Great video.

you could always add an item cap per fight, say 3 items max, so you can still heal wihtout it being excessive
