I just had to do the same thing to mine. Was not looking forward to doing it and almost called a repairman until I found your video. Your step by step instructions made this job a 100 times easier. Thank you very much!
Glad to help
Wow! Saved me buying a new dryer and my 7 and 10 year old helped me with the fix. So clear and easy to follow. (And we did drop the screws just like you warned us about!)
Glad to help. The screws always slip out of my fingers.
Of all the videos I've watched, yours is the only one to explain why lint was leaking into the interior box of my dryer. THANK you!
Excellent video with lots of details. I’ve bought a new belt, pulley, rollers, and a new felt bearing. The drum is making a noise during rotation. It’s a 2002 Whirlpool Commercial purchased new from Lowe’s. My first repair was in 2020 cleaning out the lint system and ductwork. That maintenance alone shortened the drying time by almost 20 minutes on the heat cycle. I clean the exhaust lines regularly too.
Great video! Made the job very easy. You do mention the belt direction, flat side up, groove side to drum. Just want stress this and to say that the reason for this is that the motor pulley is grooved to match. If put on backwards, there isn’t enough friction and the belt will slip under a heavy load.
You saved me a lot of money. My dryer was making a terrible squeaking noise. Turns out I had a stuck wheel. Cleaning and greasing the wheel shaft was all that it needed.
Best video ever. I have zero experience and just saved myself hundreds, thx
Great video! A patient, informative guide to dryer repair, including a caution about making sure you don't drop the screws back in the machine as you reassemble it! An easy mistake to make and a huge hassle when it happens and , yes, I am speaking from experience here.
Thank you! It was an easy replacement minus the dust and hair wrapped around the pulleys. And I found about $1 in change!
Yesterday I fixed a squeaking in my dryer, turned out to be that the drum roller on the left side was tough to turn. So I took that drum roller off, cleaned it and its shaft, greased the roller bushing and the shaft, greased the right drum roller without removing it, put back together, and squeak is gone. I hadn't been able to find a decent video for my dryer model, but found yours today and am bookmarking it. Thanks.
Thanks so much!!!
Roller broke clean off! I just happened to be on vacation and there is a parts store in next city.
It purrs like a kitten now!!!!
Nice
It worked! All I had to do was pull it apart, clean it up, and put it back together. It runs so smoothly. The inside of my dryer looked exactly like yours.
Glad to help
My dryer would squeal at start-up and would "thump" quite loudly while running. After 40 years the belt broke. I replaced only the belt, now the dryer no longer squeals or thumps. FYI, I have a Kenmore and instead of clips at the bottom of the front panel there are 5/16" screws just like at the top of the panel. Do not remove those bottom screws, only loosen them and the front panel will lift upward and off.
Good video.
LIFE SAVER! I was praying the Lord help me fix my dryer and I found this video! Thank you my friend for your knowledge 😂🎉❤
Glad to help
Thank you brother for making life easier . God is good folks!
Thanks so much! You made a chore that I really thought would be a pain in the butt very easy and simple and now our dryer is good as new! Liked and subscribed!!
I was able to fix my dryer for $18 because of this video! Thank you so much!
Glad to help.
Exactly what I needed to help diagnose the problem. The k'thunk k'thunk was from the felt seal being folded in on a single spot, unfolded and back to new. The lint was EVERYWHERE underneath, behind the unit, and needed a thorough vac.
Glad to help. Yeah you gotta watch that lint buildup. It’s always a good idea to walk outside and make sure it’s pushing air through fast enough. If it’s not, there’s another clog somewhere else. Good luck.
@@WasherDryerMoney Oh that's a good idea, thanks for the follow up.
@@WasherDryerMoney It isn't clogged but there's a significant build up of lint maybe 1/2" all around, whats a good way to clear out this puppy?
Here is a way to get extra long life out of your rollers. Before installing new rollers, I suggest soaking the bearing material in oil for a day. I've done this by taping over one side of the bearing and laying it flat on that side. Then I pour oil (not wd40, but a thicker oil than wd40) into to opening and let it sit for a day. Bearings believe it or not, actually absorb oil. Before using this routine, my rollers would wear out very fast. I don't exactly remember how many months I got out of a set, but I do remember that the first set was replaced under warranty on my unit that was purchased in 2009. I know the last time I installed new rollers was in 2017 (this being January 2024). They are still working fine.
That cat at the end shooting that machine gun and you making the firing sounds CRACKED ME UP! LOL!!! Great instructional video. :-)
Thanks. Glad you liked it. I always try to make these videos a little less boring and more entertaining.
Great clear video! Replaced the rollers easily, however now it ‘s making a different thumping noise. New thumping sound by more like a heartbeat. Have taken it apart again to make sure rollers are set correctly and drum is turning. Not sure what else could be making it thump now. Something must be off kilter. Did not replace the belt or felt. Would that possibly help? Thank you
Thank you, I was able to replace the rollers with your help.. you Rock...
Fantastic! I can totally do this myself! You may have just saved me hundreds of dollars.
This video was awesome and it save me so much hassle I really appreciated this
Great video - thank you! We have a 2006 Kenmore, but basically same issue…was making a hellacious squealing noise. I’ve got it apart and have new belts, rollers (4 on this model) and idler roller on order. The rollers look ok on the OD and no marks or grit on drum, so I’m thinking the squealing was coming from ID (bushing) on one of the posts? There’s no rust and only minor wear marks. The amount of play between roller ID and post can’t be more than .001”. Just polish with 1000 grit and apply a little lithium grease?
The idler roller is very hard to turn - that’s shot. But that shouldn’t cause squeaking, just increased belt wear, right?
Thanks for the video. Fixed my dryer quickly for $17.
Cool
I just replaced the felt seal, drum rollers, belt and tensioner this weekend
Thank You for your tutorial. My machine was the same one in the video, your step by step instructions we’re 100% on point. Great video, thanks for your help.
Glad to help
Thanks for the video. Crystal clear instructions.
Question for anyone. I replaced the drum wheels, pulley, and belt. All went off and on easily. I cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol. Put the electrical door plug back together, plugged in the dryer and checked the breaker…. Unit will not turn on now.
Any ideas?
Possibly pinched the wire for the door when you put it back up causing a short
What brand ,if Samsung idler pulley must push motor switch down
Fantastic, very clear. Thank you.
Good video! I have the grit from the rollers you mention stuck to the drum all the way around. You say scrape it off. Could you recommend a good tool to do that? It's very hard to remove.
Just purchased from your link! Thank you!
New pulley New rollers and motor and felt on the front of the barrel. Kenmore 100 series. Still squeals and clank 1 time every round like still off balance New belt too which is riding the line it has on the barrel. Not figuring out the issue. Doesn't have a rear bearing like some I've repaired.
Same here. No idea what's wrong now.
@heatherbello5439 I took it apart 3 times and can't solve it driving me nuts. So now we all leave the house once the dryer goes on. Dries fine just super loud.
When installing the right hand roller seems like a spacer should be there to take up the space on that shaft? I guess it's that way free to align where it wants to?
Right on the money bro.
Thanks a lot.
Very good detail with video, thanks
Nicely done! I’m gonna check a dryer claimed to be noisy! The drum turns with your hand one direction! Other direction with your hand… won’t move!
I see you didn't not use any type of Lube on the roller wheel shafts...is that normal?
I have a dryer admiral when spinning sounds like drum or flat tired
what can it be hope you have a video would like to see it
Excellent video easier project than I expected. Thanks so much!
Glad to help
Do you need to use a lubricant like white lithium grease on the pulley axles? Mine were filthy!
I always recommend white lithium just don’t get it on the actual belt
I sand them 1st
Subscribed and liked.
Excellent tutorial 👌
Great video thanks 😊
Thanks for the video .. saved me a lot of cash!
I recently replaced my rollers and it was working fine for the beginning of the first load and now it’s rattling very loudly again. I don’t know what to do.
Replace idler pulley
2 rollers or 4 ,sand the shafts and lubricate
So I did all that and fix the wheel but the wheel continually keeps going out I replaced it twice why does it keep going out?
Great job. Thanks!
@6:46 I just watched another video that said to put the flat side of the belt down?
I hate the triangle keepers lol i tend to always break them. Great video.
Yeah I’ve broken a lot of them. Glad you like the video.
Changed all my rollers, belt and rattle returned … thoughts
After using this kit I can say the Amazon $20 kit…JUNK! Get some actual whirlpool brand rollers
Man I did everything you just did plus replacing the real drum seal and now my dryer makes a loud random boom.
Great informative video
I can do this ! Thanks
You can.
Thanks!
Glad to help
Thank you for your VERY helpful tutorial. Where is the best place to buy the kit for rollers/belts? You'd mentioned putting them down in the details, but I'm just not seeing them. I've been to amazon to see what they have available, but after reading some of the comments from buyers, about the belts not being the right size, I'm a little leery. Thoughts? Thanks.
You can buy the belt from Lowe’s. If you feel uncertain you can also go to partsselect.com they have a search engine to use your appliance model number that you’ll find inside the door of your washer. They will show you every part that’s in that type of washer and what size the belt is. It will be in inches. Most of them are the same size.
I’ll work on getting my links in the descriptions. I’ve been meaning to get to that.
@@WasherDryerMoney This is fantastic, thank you! Just made the order with them and I'm now awaiting parts. We should be cooking with gas now! :-)
Thank you!
TY VM :)
Mine still makes noise after changing those parts but it comes and goes. I think it that stupid tensioner design, so flimsy, and the belt is not wide enough on that motor pulley it can shift front to back which burns the belt. (Black powder below it)…it’s new why ? Lol.
Great video!
Thanks
I did all this and it squeals like crazy even after new rollers. It's not constant it has a a couple seconds where it less loud. After 2 months gave up trying to figure this out.
The felt seal between the drum and the door would be a good spot to check. I’ve had a fishing hook get stuck in one and squeal.
@@WasherDryerMoney ok I'll recheck the flesh they looked fine but maybe once it's back running it sags just enough ti squeal. Thx
I just replaced all the parts, all excited . And it’s still loud :/
Could be the motor or the drum seal. Also, make sure it’s not something against the fan blades making a loud noise. Very common for someone to fall into the filter hole.
@@WasherDryerMoney I fell into the filter hole☹️
Green wire on Maytag dryer
For whirlpool dryers use the new blue drum rollers ,wagon wheels dont last ,new rollers super quiet.
I know Samsung has some blue rims on there rollers. They are barely a different size.
Thank you sir
