I’m a Callaway guy. That’s no secret. Last year, my gamer was the Chrome Soft X LS. After discontinuing the ball, I raised hell with Callaway. They told me that the Chrome Tour should replace that ball. What I found was that the Chrome Tour didn’t spin enough with the scoring irons and wedges. The longer clubs were similar.
The Chrome Tour X and Chrome Soft X feel almost identical. I’ve noticed a reduction in spin and a lower launch on the new ball, but distance seems to be similar.
If you’re over 105 MPH, there are better balls:
Bridgestone BX
Maxfli Tour X
Vice Pro Plus
Appreciate the assessment and I completely agree.
Loved the review. Was a gamer of the Chromesoft X LS, ewhich was great. Hoping to find a new gamer ball. Would love to see a review of new Bridgestone balls, X, XS. Thank you!
Those are coming very soon. I'm really excited to test them. People have been giving me some positive feedback
Definitely not a ball for any average golfers. Some 2 piece balls in your top 20 more suitable. Without doubt, Callaway make great balls, that's why, following your videos gives us an idea of which ball to try and which ball to steer away from.
Appreciate the positive feedback. It's what makes all this worth it 😁
Great review as always… thanks brotha🤙🏾
Thank you so much. Always appreciate you watching and commenting! 😁
The new gen of Callaway's ERC Soft now has a Urethane cover and seems to be a good all rounder from reviews I've seen. Maybe it fills the gap between the Chrome soft and 3 Piece non Urethane covered balls.
I would love to see a review of those as well as the Costco Exclusive Hex Tour.
Both of those reviews will be coming very soon.
Good review. I believe your review’s way more than the advertisers! I hit a 7 iron a little under 80 mph. I wish they advertised more for speed specific players. I guess they kinda do, but your channel really helps me figure out what balls to try. When my swing improves a bit more and I quit loosing golf balls in the fairway, I might try more expensive balls. $34/ dozen is about as high as I will go, and I usually save those for putting. Like the Mizuno RB Tour. My go-to right now is the Srixon Soft Feel, since they are cheap and forgiving. I’m trying the RB Max but they are not that forgiving but putting well. Legato’s are a little thuddy but iron play is pretty darn good, and they putt well. Sorry for the dissertation! Enjoy your channel!
I appreciate all the comments you've been leaving. It helps the channel grow a ton and I really appreciate hearing your feedback also. 😁
That's my choice of premium balls. Feels softer than a pro v1X, spins like a beast on the green, putts fine, shapeable, and adds a few yards to shots with that higher ball speed. Also, I noticed it gets up in the air pretty well. At $16/sleeve, I can tolerate it for the important rounds.
Nice! I agree it definitely feels a lot softer than the probably one. I imagine that would make a lot of people happy who prefer a softer feel but need that four piece firmer compression
I was curious what the characteristics are of your irons/clubs/shafts and what affects they have on the spin and flight. I found a few of these and the Tour. I still hit the Taylor Made Tour Response stripe. Thanks Nick
That's a good question. I'll have to look into that.
As someone with similar swing speed numbers love watching your reviews. If you had to rank 1-4for forgiveness and what you’d put in play how would you rate the tour response, erc soft, q star tour, maxfli tour?
1: q star tour
2 maxfli tour
3: tour response
4: erc soft
Ohhhhh 💩 GREAT DROP
I just watched a guy on YT who has a low 90’s driver swing speed have the best performance with the tour x vs the tour and chrome soft. So, definitely goes against what you experienced. I think it’s important each golfer test these balls themselves vs going off what someone else experienced.
Do you have the name of the channel?

Off topic, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on MyGolfSpy's scuffed ball test. As someone that has a small collection of scuffed balls, does it actually make as massive of an impact as they say (up to 40 yards lost off the tee & 45 yards off the target line for moderately scuffed)? I appreciate your honest input. Thanks!
This is a great question!
I don't know exactly how accurate the test is, but I will say I believe it. I have seen people do test over and over all over the internet. I just saw a gentleman on Instagram the other day do a test where if the ball has grass stains it doesn't roll as far while putting. It's amazing what the slight differences on a golf ball can have such an amazing impact on shots and putts etc.
However this is the same argument I used to people when they tell me they play balls they find in the woods or second hand balls. If a golf ball has been sitting in water or out in the elements for a long period of time, it loses its pop.
I’m sticking with the Legato…for almost half the price and better performance.😊
Don't blame you at all my friend 😁
Regarding durability, that ball seems perfectly fine to me. A high handicap player will never have it long enough to experience any durability issues and a low handicapper amateur likely uses a new ball every 3-4 holes. Either way, neither will likely have to deal with any durability issues.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback.
So a couple things to unpack here. First off, high handicappers should not be coming anywhere near this golf ball. It's a golf ball that is designed to be shaped with every swing.
Personally, I don't know any really good golfers, ( mainly the pros at work) that swap a ball out every three or four holes. 99.9% of the feedback I've gotten from this channel is that the majority of golfers want a golf ball to last two rounds. Now granted that's a little steep for me, as long as it can last one round I'm fine. But I'm sorry if I'm paying $55 per dozen I expect it to last at least a round
You alluded to the Wilson Staff Model. I’ve heard it really spins. Plan to review the ‘24 model?
You bet I do. I love Wilson. Extremely underrated in my opinion.
@@GolfBallAddict it’ll be interesting if it works well for the average swing speed, like the results you had from the Pro Plus.
Is the 2024 Chrome Soft basically the same as the 2022? What do you suggest for the Chrome Soft vs Tour?
From what I understand the Chrome soft is basically the same. The Chrome soft is a great option for medium to fast swingers and the 90 to 95 mph range. It's very soft and forgiving, yet offers tour quality spin.
If you're somebody who likes the pure feedback and traditional style feel of a tour golf ball, that's where the Chrome tour comes into play. I would say you probably need to be 95 mph to 100 mph swing speed to do that one though.
Tour X is an amazing ball for high speed players
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Glad you like the X.
First like and comment send me a box of chrome Tour Xs!
Lol Nice try. 😁😎
I’m confused..
Did aDDict test both the TOUR & tour-X? Or just the Tour-X?
I have tested both
I've been wondering if I had a bad batch. The durability of these is really poor IMO for such an expensive ball. I am questioning if I should play the ball by mid round and after 2 rounds I definitely shouldn't. Don't ever hit a path or tree. I live in the 115 swing speed and the performance is great otherwise. I can hold the green from 6i on down.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and your experience. It is really disappointing to pay that type of price and only have mediocre durability. Granted it is the first year the ball came out so I might give it the benefit of the doubt, but it's still disappointing given the massive price hike
with your 98mph driver speed you should be able to drive a ball 250+. I have a 85mph and drive the ball 225. Time for a new driver.
There are definitely drivers out there that would help my ball speed tremendously.
The reason I was sold on the driver I have is because of the forgiveness. It was a top performer in 2022 and I'll admit that the forgiveness is top tier.
Now also, with that being said, I did happen to order a new driver a couple days ago. I will be doing testing and probably a video to see the differences
Why would anyone choose this over the Vice Pro Plus? It is more expensive and not as at any level.
This times a thousand. Completely agree.
I definitely need to clarify better about the tour line crowd. The only reason I bring up the tour crowd is that a lot of guys don't mind paying the $55 because they know the golf balls are balanced better and yada yada yada.
I firmly believe that for 99% of players, the vice Pro Plus would fit any fast swinger and offer incredible value.
Don't fall into the trap of X balls being for fast swing speed players. Slow swing speed players need the spin to keep the ball airborne (and Ballnamic recs for me have confirmed this) Hopefully this is more durable than the Chrome Soft X, which was not a very durable ball.
I have had some success with a few X models. Depends on the compression mainly but it isn't unheard of.
The price increase is to recoup the $100 million they spent on their 3D X-Ray process to improve the quality of ALL their golf balls. Costs to manufacturers ALWAYS trickles down to the consumer. That’s your answer. I personally don’t mind because I know their golf balls are WAY better than a Titleist!!!
I mean. That's really cool. I definitely appreciate good quality. However the performance still has room for improvement. It's just too much money for a golf ball that doesn't perform as expected
Pls send me the Tour X!
If you don't like the $55 price point for the tour ball, I'll bet you don't care for the $55 price for the Chrome Soft.
I don't. I really wish they would have kept it at the 47.99 price point with still by three get one free.
I get that inflation happens but man that seems like a drastic price hike 😔
