Earned my follow for talking so good about my golf ball 😅
I will take it. Thank you so much! 😁💯
I’ve been playing this ball for a few months now and I will be playing it for a long time, my favorite golf ball ever.
Callaway did a phenomenal job with it. I'm very happy overall
I really like the new tour ball. Feels are best ive ever felt. I use pro v x and pro v left dash mostly. But im falling in love with the callaway crome tour.
That's awesome, it's good to hear that Callaway is winning over a few people here and there. That was the goal and I think they've done a great job
That’s the ball I’m playing this year after my own testing. Love it from 100 yds in. Good review. Like your hat too. I used to golf there prior to the new owners when I lived about 15 min away.
Thank you very much. Glad you like the ball.
I love the world woods back in the day. Now at Cabot I actually work there, it's such a cool place man.
@@GolfBallAddictyeah used to play world worlds all the time throughout the 2000’s. Such a great facility. The massive practice facility as well. Was a shame to see it degrade over the years. Happy to see what Cabot is going to do with the place. And can’t wait to get out and play it once it opens to the public.
That's quite the endorsement for this new ball, will give it a try as I currently use the Chrome Soft from time to time and it performs very well.
Please let me know your feedback when you do. It could just be new monitor infatuation but gosh dang it I love testing that ball
Having that much ball speed increase is incredible…and through the whole bag! You would normally need a massive custom fit equipment upgrade with the best shafts, plus lessons, but you only have to pay $55 to get that return, not a bad deal.
It'll be interesting to see what other golf balls start testing at from here on out. I can definitely tell that the Chrome tour is the real deal though. Especially in the AAA tour ball market
Maybe you should hit the old Chrome Soft with both monitors to rule out or in the possibility of swing improvement. AKA control group. Love the channel.
This is actually a really good idea. I've talked about doing a bunch of comparison videos this year and this would be a great first one. Comparing the old versus the new
I played 9 with this golf ball and I really loved the feel compared the old chrome soft x. It feels like the perfect compression for my 93 mph swing speed
The feel is much better for sure. I love the new feel compared to the old soft. Feels responsive.
I was fitted in the chrome soft xls then they replaced it with the chrome tour it was good but didnt play exactly the same as the csxls for me, i was playing with a friend who had the 24 tp5 i asked to try it and fell in love with it been playing the tp5 ever since, the new speedwrap core is a game changer imho i know in one video you mentioned you were goin to test it im patiently waiting for that video.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I will try to get them tested ASAP
From all of the personal testing that I have done on the course I have yet to see any of the new super expensive balls out perform the Maxfli Tour ball(s) or the Vice Pro to a level to where the average player will truly see it. I play off of a 12 hdcp. I really like the big guys; Titleist, Callaway, TM, Srixon (love the Z Star), Bridgestone, etc. but paying upwards of $20/dz more is crazy to me. With average skills you just do not see the benefit. Now if one is just set on playing the Best of everything and the brings you enjoyment then go do that. We all have jobs, family, etc and enjoying a fun past time so if playing the premium golf ball does that for you then Rock On! Keep it in the short grass fellas 😊
I'm currently testing the new vice models. I cannot wait to see how they compare to the small. I 100% agree with your take also.
Need to retest the maxfli tours 2023 series
Need to test the red box. Thats the chromesoft
I'm a Chrome soft user (Driver-145 ball speed) and looking forward to trying the Tour ball. Trying to get to 150 ball speed before I die...lol
Please let me know your feedback when you do. I wish you the best of luck getting to 150
Callaway in my area has a special offer right now for the chrome tour and the X.
4 dozen for the price of 3. Makes it more palatable. Especially for the performance upgrades of pretty much every category
That definitely helps the value score for sure
I bought 3 already and yes it saves you a lot of
I love the Chrome Tour! I have played another great round with this ball however I only bought a sleeve to try them out. Not sure I can justify buying a dozen of them. Do you have a suggestion on what ball would play similar to the Chrome Tour for cheaper?
Not right now but give me a couple weeks of testing data and I should have some
Hi. Great review as always. This reminded me about your first review of the Chrome Soft.
I was a little surprised about your putting the OG Chrome Soft so high in your final 100-ball listing since it seemed to conflict a bit with your initial rating. My recollection was that you liked the Chrome Soft quite a bit, but that it really lacked forgiveness to the point of being pretty punishing on mis-hits.
With that in mind, I put the Chrome Soft on my list (yes, I'm an addict, so I have lists and notes and notes and notes 🙂) of balls to avoid for a while. I ALSO love the way it feels when I hit it right, but am holding off using it since it's so punishing. Can you possibly speak to this a bit?
Thanks as always for everything you do!
Great question. The Callaway Chrome soft actually is not that punishing on this heads. Don't get me wrong, it still has that tour level quality of not being great. It's definitely not as great as a lot of the two-piece golf balls I test. But when it comes to tour golf balls, it's definitely one of the best when it comes to forgiveness on this hits.
If you are a single digit handicapper it's definitely worth a shot. I would definitely recommend picking up a sleeve or something if you can find one
@@GolfBallAddict I really appreciate that, Nick. I'm about a 15 handicap (95mph swing speed) and am playing around with a lot of different balls right now.
So far, the BRX-S is one of my favorites because of the spin/performance and feel while giving some forgiveness (great GBA review on this one, by the way 🙂). Would you say the BRX-S is in the same forgiveness ballpark as the Chrome Soft or no?
Thanks again!
You can get them for 41.25 a dozen if you buy the 4 dozen box
Yes you sure can. Helps the wallet a little
I would also play these all the time if Callaway sponsored me. I bought a dozen Jayllah JG 3X balls to try. You wouldn't like the design of the ball. The Pro said they are similar to the Inesis 900 I normally buy and the price is similar.
Have you had a chance to play with them yet? Do they actually compare to the inesis in any way?
@@GolfBallAddict I will try them on Wednesday.
Will you be testing the 2024 Chrome Soft in the red box?
Absolutely! Love the Chrome soft😀
everyone is different but i have noticed this is the most impactful golf ball for me since the original TaylorMade Lethal . before that maybe Strata tour ultimate original a long time ago. i think the only balls have noticed near are 2021 pro V1 and 2022 chrome soft and X LS. around the greens and short wedges the 2021pro v1 and chrome tour simply save strokes. i have noticed the check and rollout of these balls are almost magical. my normal gamer is maxfli tour. also the chrome tour x is also great but not the ball for me
That's awesome. I'm really glad it seemed to work for you. Nothing like finding that ball that feels like magic when you hit it.
forgot to mention the CS X LS is very clicky aroun,on the green
It isn’t replacing the Chrome Soft…It is their NEW Tour Model golf ball designed to destroy the Pro V1 and I do believe it has!!! Callaway makes the best golf balls on the market and you have the data to prove it!!!
Hey that's awesome. I personally would prefer to play it over pro v one. Seems like other people agree. I think that's a huge winner for Callaway
Great video! You think it would work for a slow swing speed of 85 MPH? I know the compression is 90. I actually ordered a dozen to see as Ballnamic actually had this ball as best suited for me.
I would think that swing speed would be a little slow for it. I would stick to the Chrome soft or even maybe a softer 60s compression golf ball. They've been proven to be a lot more forgiving across all clubs for that type of swing speed
@@GolfBallAddict thanks I have settled on the Srixon QStar Tour. I watched your review on them and u liked them.
You didn’t really say if the ball was very forgiving or not? And is there a review for the X model?
Usually if it's just average forgiveness I won't say anything. Sorry about that. I'll make a point in the future.
Not yet. I have it tested but vice week took over
Good review Nick. I'd only play this ball if I found one. Waaay to much money for my budget.
Yeah that's the main issue. I've even considered playing in myself after I posted this review but with all the golf balls I already have there's no way I can justify spending that cash
@@GolfBallAddict You need a golf ball yard sale!
Do you have a video of how you installed your putting green? Would like to build one similar. Thanks
Not yet but I can get you some info
@@GolfBallAddict that would be awesome! Thank you!
The chrome tour did not replace the chrome soft. It replaced chrome soft LS.
You are correct at the moment. However I heard from a rep for C Callaway that the future plan is for the Chrome tour to replace the Chrome soft altogether.
I don’t know that I’d compare the X LS with the Tour. Two completely different feels and flights.
I would hit this ball with your old monitor to see if you get the same numbers. That type of improvement seems a bit odd. One other thing, tour ball spin a lot and are harder to control dispersion. How was the dispersion with this ball?
I did test them side by side with my old monitor. The distances were totally different however the ball speed was basically pound for pound.
Dispersion with this golf ball was good. I wouldn't say it's great just because sometimes if I really got a hold of it it would be just a ridiculous absurd number. There's a couple times I really laid into one and got a 117 mph ball speed with a 7-iron. I also got 128 mph with the five hybrid at one point. The good news is it's only a difference of about 10 yd so it's not that bad. But gosh dang there was a couple hits that really stroked my ego a little bit LOL
You can get four dozen for the price of three. Does that make this #1?
Nick, did the higher compression seem to make any difference? I was worried that this ball wouldn’t suit a slower swing speed. The Chrome Soft is rated 75, I think, but not sure how much higher the Tour is.
If you're any below 90 then yes I agree the higher compression could make a difference. At 92 to 95 I was able to still compress it amazingly. If you're around the 85 mph swing speed I imagine the soft is the way to go for the time being. Anything above 90 though you'll be fine
Have you been able to juxtapose your monitor numbers with on course distances and performance. These numbers seem more responsible that the old monitor. Thanks
These numbers with the new launch monitor are by far much more accurate than the old one. Of course distance is mainly what I mean. Ball speed is pound for pound with both monitors. Launch angle seems pretty pound-for-pound with both monitors as well. The new monitor also measures spin way more accurately
I am curious why you don’t have a category for value/performance of 2 layer isometric balls and a value /performance category for 3+ layer urethane golf balls. That would be like for like and we are able to assess each ball within “like kind” category not being driven by cost as weighted assessments. I like the overall value assessment but am curious if that assessment might camouflage the best performance which might not be the best overall value.
I can understand why a lot of people think this way. I get it. The problem I have is that I don't just look at golf balls this way, I look at everything in the world this way. I know the McLaren GT is probably the best performance car in the world. But it's also 2 million dollars. The system I have in place is to gauge a golf ball on all metrics that would matter to the majority of people. There's also plenty of people that tell me looks don't matter. I get comments all the time where people ask me to take the design out of the review because they say looks don't matter. Well if I take the value out, and I take the looks out, yes we're just left with performance. However is an extra two yards really worth quadruple the price? At that point I feel like I would be selling something that wasn't true. If I was convincing people to buy a golf ball that cost them four times as much just for an extra two yards, it just doesn't make sense to me. This golf ball made it number three on my list. It's still a damn good golf ball without having a good value score.
No I don't mind doing a separate video that just shows performance only, but when ranking these golf balls I have to consider everything, not just performance.
@@GolfBallAddict thanks much for your insights. Keep up the good work. Enjoy your videoed and really not trying to come across as critical. Just an old engineer that loves analysis.
The chrome tour replaced the soft xls. They still have the chrome soft
For the moment that's correct. However I heard from a Callaway rep that the future plan is to have the tour replaced the soft
Everyone needs to check up for a second. Keep in mind, this is a lower compression tour ball, the biggest segment in golf balls. Competition includes:
Titleist ProV1
Bridgestone BX and BXS
Taylormade TP5
Mizuno RB Tour
Vice Pro
Snell MTB Prime
Encore Elixir
Maxfli Tour CG
All I’m saying there are lots of options here. Wait for more reviews before coming to a conclusion.
The list is definitely going to constantly change. There's going to be plenty of time this year to test the whole lineup of tour balls as well as do side by side comparisons
@@GolfBallAddict I’m very interested in seeing the 2024 TP5 and Bridgestone Tour lineup. I feel like this is the direction many balls are going.
I hope there is some pushback against these crazy high golf ball prices. It’s getting ridiculous.
That's why we just got to keep doing what we're doing on the channel. Keep testing, keep buying direct to consumer, keep focusing on value. This is part of the reason I continue to push value so much on my channel. If we continue to buy golf balls that are more affordable and produce great results, eventually they won't have a choice but to lower the price or something.
really surprised to hear this top tier recommendation. i tried this ball today, and it sucked. it felt heavy on the club, the spin off the driver was insane, and distance was no better than a regular Qstar. sorry but my experience with this ball is very very different.
That's interesting to hear. Just out of curiosity, what is your swing speed?
The only thing I can think of is that the ball might be a little too firm for you. The issue I had is that honestly the golf ball bordered on not spinning enough. Really low numbers with the seven iron as well as the driver.
I like this chrome tour ball s , I hit bombs with my driver and irons .. maybe becoz of lesser spin maybe….
Thanks so much for watching and your feedback. Cheers.
When r u doing the chrome soft 2024 model
I've had quite a few requests for it so I imagine it'll get moved up within the next month or so
Will you test the Chrome Tour X?
Already tested. Review coming soon.
@@GolfBallAddictgood deal👍🏾. I’ve played 3 rounds so far and wanted to hear your thoughts on it. I tested the Chrome Soft X next to the Chrome Soft. Looking forward to your testing and comparisons to the other golf balls and where you would rank the Chrome Soft X.
@@GolfBallAddict correction… Chrome Tour/Tour X. Not Soft… sorry 😂
I tried it and for me it just performed poorly on driver. It seemed extremely low in spin for me and some coworkers of mine. It would knuckleball and I’d just lose too much distance. I loved other aspects of it. Got 10,000rpm of spin with a 50 degree with it. But off the woods we deemed it unplayable with the spin.
I usually like a firmer golf ball, so with this being softer that could be part of it
Yeah it sounds like you probably swing pretty fast. Were you trying the regular Chrome tour or were you trying the x model? It sounds like the x model could be what you need
I usually struggle with too much spin if I’m honest. So usually a ball like the left dash v1x usually does wonders for me.
I tried the Chrome Tour instead of the Tour X.
For me I found the Tour to be a more of a Prov1 counterpart than a replacement of the CS XLS. Which is why I don’t feel this ball fits my game.
If money didn’t matter is the chrome soft still the ball you would play? (Not for a scramble)
If money doesn't matter then yes 100%. The sugar golf ball would be extremely close, however the Callaway tour would get the nod because of the designs. I love the 360 triple track. So easy to calculate my misses on my putts
@@GolfBallAddictthank you I appreciate the feedback
They still make the chrome soft. This is a replacement for the LS
I was told by a Callaway rep that the long-term plan is for the tour to replace the soft. Honestly it sounds like it could be still up in the air but that's just what I've been told
Bummer 😞 @@GolfBallAddict
I love the chrome soft callaway ball!!
Awesome. I just did a review last night. Check it out if you don't mind
You didn't cover forgiveness.
If u aren’t playing for money this price is absurd
Price will always vary by the person you talk to. But for me it doesn't golf balls for $60 just seems crazy. Honestly even the idea of paying $35 40 it's crazy when you really think about what it takes to make a golf ball.
these look too much like range balls
Will they make them in a variety of different styles and colors.
You can get four dozen for the price of three. Does that make this #1?
It makes it a great deal, but it still wouldn't be number 1
