I've played lots of balls over the years. Just got 2 dozen Kirkland performance and 1 dozen TaylorMade tour response for Xmas. Once I lose these I'll look in the woods for more 👍
Only a fool would pay $54 or $54. You can buy good balls for like $20. Even less. For the average golfer, the ball makes no difference. None whatsoever. Such bullshit.
Totally agree. I had a great fitter last summer when I got fit for my new driver and he gave me ball recommendations for the new driver, 2 of the 3 I was already playing
Boss, I am following you since day one of your youtube and you are very great honest pointer on black and white in golf awesome contents and thank you so much
What is the durability like? I am not the fastest swinger in the world (around 90mph with the driver) and kept scuffing the Chrome Soft X a lot quicker than a Pro V1X.
Idk why titalist is touted as the best ball when it isn’t, it hasn’t been objectively better in years. At this point it’s all preference, TP5s spin more than all balls, call away usually gets more distance with comparable spin to titalist, Bridgestone and srixon are also good balls. It’s all preference
i feel like i’ve been seeing more critical comments of how he runs his channel but it’s really just the titles have gotten more click bait-y, yet the content is still easily digestible. i like the country club tour videos when you show the locker room and what free shit they have lol
This has nothing to do with this video but one of your previous videos and I can't remember which, whatever. You mentioned in that video, and this was only a brief mention and not the focus of the video, that one should "post" their left leg (make it straight) towards the end of one's swing. So if you're wondering if you are making a difference out here in golf land be assured that you are, because that one "instruction" has improved my game by 50 -60 %. No one ever told me to "post" my left leg. I tried it and like a miracle everything in my swing came together! Thank you so very much.
Funny how people have different likes when it comes to the feel of a golf ball. I'm at a 6.5 handicap right now and I swing at around 108 mph with the driver and I will not play anything but an AVX or a Chrome Soft ball. I just got so used to playing the super softs and soft feel balls when I was learning to play that I can't stand the feel of the hard compression balls at all, especially around the greens and putting. I know I am losing some distance off the tee but it's worth it to me.
Can you do one of these vs the Costco Kirkland ball. please. seems the Kirkland ball was getting same numbers at ProV1x, but Id like to see my favourite and best Golf You Tuber do one.
Obviously this isn't your first video, but please tell me there's an inside joke with the "decent angle" spelling..... Otherwise I'm dumbfounded as to how you've made it this far misspelling the word "descent" without being utterly crucified in your comments 😕
Until next week. I play Vice Pros or Maxfli Tour. I actually think they are the same ball with a different label. I have a vendor who gives me ProV1s and they sit on the shelf.
You've got the game to spend $55/dozen ... My game is great with Kirkland ... I don't lose many golf balls in a round, but my handicap is too high to be a golf ball snob. Just saying ... Appreciate your reviews, as always!!!
I thought that a TP5 was the best feeling golf ball I ever hit….until I hit Chrome Tour last weekend. I did find that it typically went straight even as I was drawing the ball with TP5. The other thing I saw (and subsequently have seen on other comments) is that durability isn’t great. Two sand shots and it was pretty scuffed. Really love it otherwise though
Shot the lowest score of my life with a Top Flite, lol. I didn’t lose it during the round or even have to look for it. I am not spending $55 for a dozen balls.
The more consistent your swing and setup the more you will keep your ball in play, I've tried balls that I hear many people say is rubbish and scored very well with them, you will lose the most expensive ball quite easily if you don't play it right. My son and I have tried almost all ball's on the market and find most are similar in performance 3hc by the way.
Got to hit these a couple weeks ago granted they were in a white box from Callaway lol. They felt great though to me a big improvement over the current chrome soft and chrome soft x. I'm switching to them from the TP5 myself.
"Don't Do That" is a great line. I believe for most golfers that aren't consistently scoring in the 70's pick a ball and stick with the same one so you eliminate one variable . Just as you tested, those balls are so close in performance it really doesn't matter for most golfers.
I found a Bridgestone tour B RX while playing and found it performed as well as the ProV purchased a box and they were 17 dollars cheaper, I've tried different brands of Callaway balls and haven't found one yet that gives me distance and playability around the greens like Titleist Pro V and now BS B RX. 🤪🇺🇲
I picked up a box of the B RX in December. Going to try them in the Spring. I saw they are coming out with a new B RX this year. Its fun trying out new things

It's just all marketing. For 99% of the golfers on the planet, the ball makes ZERO difference in their game since they're going to lose it in the next hole or two. That is a good point on brand loyalty, though. Instead of $55 for a dozen balls, spend the money on lessons.
I started gaming the chrome tour with a free box and was very surprised. I didn't want to like them but I love them. I just got some chrome tour x to try out. I've been playing the proV1, prov1x, tp5, tp5x, and the Bridgestone bx. Chrome Tour is my go to for now. We will see how the tour x performs.
Not sure how meaningful it is to try to do a comparison using half-swing pitch shots. There's almost certainly going to be some significant variance from swing to swing, much more so than with full swing shots.
I went from chrome soft to vice pro. I also play vice pro soft. If there’s a difference in the 2 vice balls I can’t really tell. I think they are excellent balls. They stop on a dime and backup on more full wedge shots.
Vice is pretty good just a little too spiny on the driver for me. Tend to lose these and Kirklands the most cause of the extra spin on it. Wish they were little less spiny cause I got my only hole in one and I chip in all the time with the vice lol
Hit the ball you can afford to loose is what I say. I wouldn’t pay for higher priced if you’re loosing more than 6 in a round. Of course if you’re like the ding dongs I play with your find 5 for every 1 you loose while I’m waiting on them to get back on……..😂😂
This is all subjective I supposed and there are a lot of variables , but I have played Pro V1s since they came out and was excited to test these. I actually found that the Chrome tour was much firmer feeling than the Pro V1. From 30 yds in and around the greens, it felt like I was hitting a rock. I find it interesting that he found it to feel too soft. Even if you feel the cover with your thumb nail, it feels harder than the Pro V1. I'm gonna stick with my Pro Vs
I got a sleve of the chrome tour. Can't play till I get back home in a few weeks BUT chipping with a brand new rtx 6 zipcore in the backyard about 15 to 20 yards they feel much much better than tge older x-ls
I understand what you mean by titliest is the best. But how many others have you tried? Theres too many!. Can you review the bridgestone tour BXS.? I use these. They would give ANY ball a run for its money.
I have shot a 79 with a ProV1 and a Pinnacle. It is not the ball. It is the golfer. My score was just due to how well I played that day. Longer??? Not really. I play several courses on a regular basis. I have noticed I hit the same distance no matter what ball I use. If it looks like I really hit it long, it is because I had a good swing and hit the ball on the club face where you are suppose to do.
Can’t really compare these results without clubhead speed/smash factor. Especially with driver, how do we know one carry is actually longer or if you just swung faster?
Interesting ball comparison, I play the Chrome Soft now, so I will be trying the Chrome Tour. On a side note: I have a Optishot BallFlight Simulator and am looking for a good hitting mat. I like the set up you have, can you tell me the brand of the mat? Thanks Bill
I received a couple boxes last fall of Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X. I love the CTX! Such a good ball off driver, iron, and putting. The Tour is good but too low spin for me. Here’s my problem, and maybe you can help me here, Matt. My gamer is the Chrome Soft X LS. I’m very nervous about switching because I’ve tested just about everything in 2023. I don’t know that either of these balls are for me. What do you think?
Great video Matt! Every spring I try 3 or 4 different balls to which is best for me for the year, I've been ProV1X the last few years. I'll try the the Chrome tour X and 2 others do you have any recommendations on the other 2 I should try? I'm 71 years old I have tried and liked the Bridgestones but they need to be replaced after 9 holes (not acceptable) I've thought about the maxfli and maybe the TP5X what do you think?
Picked up the Chrome Tour (gold) today. Very informative and specific detailed comparisons. The one thing you didn't touch on was players who are now 55+ (56 soon! lol) who's swing speed has decreased due to age and things like physical restrictions due to arthritis, etc. Having said that, do I take the 'Tour' back and get the 'Tour X' or does my slower swing speed garner using the 'Tour' (gold) ball. I should add that my HC is approx. 6.8 while playing the blue tees regularly. Thank you very much.
I would like to know the loft of each club. The number stamped on the bottom of each club doesn't concern me regarding the statistics for each ball. The driver loft in most test cases is revealed.
The chrome soft tour X carried 156 compared to the other 3 you tested being in the 5-6 yard range of each other in that 166-172 range? Safe to say the chrome soft tour X is not the ball for players either swing speed in the range of yours. I find that interesting that the one ball out of the 4 carried so low in yardage.
I'm going to buy 1000 balls a year until 2030 and when the rollback happens, BINGO! ebay millionaire!

The number stamped on the bottom of each club doesn't concern me regarding the statistics for each ball. The driver loft in most test cases is revealed.
At this point, what difference does it make!? kidding!
There is no chrome soft tour x.
