I've found with my sas'd 4runner, sprug over leaves with high steer, ubolts and plates made and flipped, a lower hanger and longer shackles, and leaves set with minumal precurve for best drop and up travel(not for carrying a lot of weight mind you), it has out performed coil sprung vehicles with the same size tyres time and time again in ground clearnace, articulation and the old girl rides just as comfy as an 80! Its all in the set up!
Another great vid Roothy. (However) the use of the shackle to join the winch hook to the strap is superfluous and potentially dangerous- I'm surprised you did that. Hooking straight on to the strap is safer.
After removing my IFS to leafs in my datsun 720 id go coil overs if i had to do it again. Dont get me wrong you can get great flex with leafs but for comfort coils would be the go... I had to run 16 to 18 psi for the corrigations up cape york so i would loose any parts
Well Roothy when you consider after killing all the Land Rovers on hand then cautiously trying the new on the market Toyota landcruiser, they then built The Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme & came back for more, so there's a lot to be said for the old dogs leaf spring mate. (I dont own a Cruiser either)
Great vid Roothy. While you certainly know your Toyota better than anyone But I’m surprised you said you let your tyres down to only 25+/- for the terrain viewed. I run around my MT Nittos at. 15psi and the difference in traction and comfort is excellent. Steve
You should put milo the orig on a 80 series chassis with a 1hdt, coil springs, a basic fuel and electrics system it would be a beast of a thing airbags in the rear coils for weight
Yes I agree longer leafs with proper shackel angle and un limiting shocks but I would be sufficant but I think an 80 chassis swap would be easier than a front coil conversion plus a 1hdt to add to his mechanical injection Toyota diesel fleet. There is nothing wrong with leaks I just got dropped off a build to do 60 series leaf spring high roof Sahara with a xr6t Barra engine with 35s and 75s leafs
@@phantomwalker8251 Spring over helps in the fact that it gives you less to hang up on. Also spring over the hanger bolts, u bolts, are not exposed to rocks. Rocks are a bad thing on spring unders. Found that out the hard way.
coopers are crap,i got 1 yr,then sold them,half worn,best tires,dick cepek,bf goodridge.NOT bridgestone,not same as yrs ago.you need 2 sets one for road,one for bush.,period.
here in Australia it can be bad to cover the battery up too much, can lead to battery's overheating, therefore reducing battery life find this issue on a lot of new euro vechiles with completly incased batteries
cMate, love to do that. Had a shorty way back - first love - lost her to fire. All these years later, missing her like crazy. Can’t help looking at options to build. Love your videos, always listening for any advice you give. Thanks for keeping it real !
You’re certainly punching above your weight in the missus dept
LMFAO :-)
However, Love has no boundaries and I wish that I had a woman into, and also supportive of things like Mr. Rooth does, Cheers :-)
Have got to love the sound of milo 2
I’ve gone coils and leaves. Best of both worlds. 👍
Bloody enjoyed that team, good times. Cheers Moose.
I was waiting for a Big Bang on the front right of the 105 when you were winching her up, had to have been close...
yes I was waiting to, that did not look good for a cv

Well done mate, gee that old 12ht sounds awesome!
that 12ht is a chevy 6cyl copy.
since when?
One big difference though, Toyota was designed for offroad and Chevrolet was designed to sit in the junkyard.
@@poopipeboy3033 lol
Milo sounds so bloody awesome
The only way to get a Toyota hand brake to work, find the nearest tree. :-)
Milo 2 is looking good Rothy. Have you thought about running spring overs?
Milo 2 is one COOL truck!!!!!
Two absolute beauties: First and foremost Kaz (get that girl her own TV show); second M2.
Can't wait too see part 2
Looks like a fun time
You should mount the leaves above the diff. Give you more clearance and reduces hangup points
dangerous,they roll now!!.
nice going, 105 needs a front locker.
Nice editing .... looked like great fun!
Roothy, Looks like you might miss out on that FJ40 at All 4x4 Parts! I see Roger Vickey has put his name on it! Funny post on Facebook about it !
great vid that winch looks the dogs
Jon, I'm thinking a little training on winch recovery might be of use. I'm down by you next year - happy to assist. All the best
Milo 2 sounds incredible
Great video sir. I really enjoyed it. As for coil springs? Us Jeep owners have known for years that coils are the way to go.
Only when you need extreme flex
That truck looks very unstable on the verge of rolling all the time!
Yeah that's what it wasen't doing .... Roothy that is those big yellow shocks oil or gas?
Finally, we get to meet Mrs Rooth!!
Another great vid Roothy.

if would want a bigger lift, put the old leafs above the axle! basically getting a 4" lift aready lol. thats what ive don with my old 85 ln65 ute
She sounds awesome
The truck that is

Remember : Motor carefully in the grease-mud for therein lurk the skid and stuck demons
I see the benefits of both. Cheers for the video Mr. Rooth :-)
P.S. those mud tires seem useless :-)
its not the tires,,its the vehicle & driver..lack of knowledge..
What is the engine and turbocharged sounds very awesome

Maybe your nittos have a stronger sidewall?
25 on that light eeekk, toyota, shiver,,,,is not enough,it weighs nothing,.i go 15,but it depends on vehicle weight, tire constuction,.
I have the perfect of both worlds I have coil in the front and leave rear.
Gotta love the sound of Milo what motor and exhaust is on it ?
onya roothy
Smooth
i like how roothy rarely wears a seat belt
@2:02 is my new wallpaper!

Or chassis swap mustard let's see you step your next build up to the next extreme. Love your videos live in Vic drive a 105 1hz

your an idiot, you know nothing about 4x4rs.
@@phantomwalker8251 do you want to elaborate about how my 2 year old comments make me an idiot that knows nothing about 4x4ing?
Great work toothy. how do I apply for a job.....
Get Milo 2 on a flex ramp!
Roothy, ever thought of doing a spring over conversion?
wouldnt help,there too short./ stiff,,no advantage,.needs longer springs,or coils.spring over is like lifting an ifs truck,.useless.
@@phantomwalker8251 Spring over helps in the fact that it gives you less to hang up on. Also spring over the hanger bolts, u bolts, are not exposed to rocks. Rocks are a bad thing on spring unders. Found that out the hard way.
Why wouldn’t you put power steering on it .. ?
Can't you pet the leaves over the axle in order to get a better clearance?
I've seen it done before but don't know the limitations on such thing.
those toyotas roll as they are,& you want to make it more unstable..??..there too narrow & short wheel base,,no good for anything.
I prefer a shitbox myself like a d22 or a commodore wagon
Hey roothy,
how many kays did you get out of those cooper stt pros? im curious.
coopers are crap,i got 1 yr,then sold them,half worn,best tires,dick cepek,bf goodridge.NOT bridgestone,not same as yrs ago.you need 2 sets one for road,one for bush.,period.
Landcruisers are well known to going turtle.
Listen to her sing at 7:20!!!
My leaf sprung Hilux is more capable than a coiled 80 series, both unlocked on ko2s
John how come you don't cover your batteries?
Never found the need to mate. We did raise them up from where we had them originally. Cheers
Thanks, John. Love your videos from Texas U.S.A., not Texas Australia. Cheers
here in Australia it can be bad to cover the battery up too much, can lead to battery's overheating, therefore reducing battery life

Well it'd be like the page 2 girl wearing a dress.....you wanna see what she got!
Good one John, Why not a FJ body on an 80 series frame??
Yeah looking into that!
cMate, love to do that. Had a shorty way back - first love - lost her to fire. All these years later, missing her like crazy. Can’t help looking at options to build. Love your videos, always listening for any advice you give. Thanks for keeping it real !
why,??,whats the difference,an fj crusier is a prado anyway.both useless.ifs garb.
fj40, fj45, etc, same type body as Milo.
You should put a Jmax spensusion system in milo 2
he should put milo in a bin,& get upto date,a bit..
No power steering?
power steer didnt get to aus untill 1998..even our u.s trucks had nothing, the xlt was just chrome strips, nothing else,,air is you asked..
your are to top heavy. you will tip over again.
No lock diff on 105series land cruiser
No mate, no lockers just the factory centre locking diff.
Is that Pom your love child Roothy ???
F__k that 12ht sounds mad
Skip the coil springs and go straight to air suspension! (I can already hear all the cursing from people who never thought air suspension through…)
air is bullshit,,landrover blow bags all the time.garbage set up.
spring on axle conversion
bullshit,wake up,it d roll,no travel,too short.,
Leaves?!
LOL!
You need power steering! Your poor arms.
24 psi.??..try ten less.might do better..plus,bury that green dinosour,buy a decent truck.its a waste of space..
