As a farmer, I rely on my 4x4 Ute to pick up farming supplies. I don't think a Tesla would cut it carrying a ton of fertiliser and drive the dirt roads around here. It's becoming an absolute joke. If our poo was worth anything they'd tax our bumholes. Fully support you guys, another great video 😤
tell it to Klaus Schwab, Yuval Harrari and Bill Gates ... They are the leaders of the doomsday cult of climate change and they hate all people. They call us useless eaters and bill Gates is preaching over decade for exterminating 90% of the worlds population. They don't want us doing better
I respect farmers, it's a hard job and your lucky to break even but with our you we wouldn't have fresh produce on our plates. I used to be a game keeper in my spare time and builder for my full time job. I got out of the building trade due to the price of materials going up and the price of the jobs going down to a point of it wasn't profitable to renew my gas licence. I'm glad I got out of it when I did and now I'm a truck driver, more money and less stress. I own a ford ranger coz I live away from home in the truck and have a weeks worth of gear to carry coz I have to dekit every week. I don't have enough space with out taking stuff out to go shopping etc. My family lives in the country down some roads that you need 4wd to get down especially in the winter or when it's been raining.
I had a vw tiguan before and that's a big boot space. I still had to put stuff on the back seat and take it out when I got home so I can get the dog in and the shopping (the boot was rammed full) and damaging the interior. I don't think the cube boot space is any bigger.
These will be the same people thinking we don’t need farms because we get our food from the supermarket. Maybe these people should come out to the country and drive there small cars on the roads. They’ll be paying for new tyres every week. The roads where I live have been ruined by the floods the last 3 years and haven’t been fixed due to costing to much money and being out in the country. Keep up the great work team
Yet these roads were built on far less money with far less registered vehicles.. now where is all the money going from registration? Certainly not on the riads
@@KrisH-mc8hd I can't fathom people wanting to live in human sewers that are cities let alone anything they could possibly do to induce me and many others to live in one. When Scott Morrison said a couple of years ago "change over from fuel to ev, wont effect current fuel car owners" I said to the Mrs, you watch, they'll price us out of our cars with high rego, high fuel prices, high insurance ect...we've seen all of that.

G-day gents , I drive a a-double semi trailer in Sydney bringing everything of the wharf so everyone can go down to the local shop and buy what every they want when they want it. I drive a duel cab Ute to and from work and use it to row my boat to a waterway and take the family fishing . I get the kids are off electronics and out in the outdoor enjoying life. The biggest problem is that people aren’t taught how to drive in a safe manner with a boat , trailer , caravan or even a car trailer and that there a lot of people don’t know how to load a car trailer . I teach my kids how to back a trailer as I was taught by my parents when I learnt to drive. Love the show keep up to the good work
As a tradesman, if my rego goes up, I'm just going to past the cost on to my customers. Is that fair to my customers? No, but as a business i need to if i wanna keep operating. Its cost of living going up for no reason.
If it's a work vehicle, whatever the extra cost would be if it ever happens will just go into your tax return and be written off as a work expense, so there's no need to charge your clients extra, and how much extra would you charge each client, $1, $5, $200 this type of comment makes no sense, if rego does go up, I will just be addint it to all my other costs of running my business and claim it back from the gov't as they increased the price, simple as that, no need to punish my clients for this.
so if your rego goes up from say 800 to 1100 you gonna charge the next 40 customers an extra 400 bucks each? because if you just added an extra 10 bucks per job to account for rego no customer would even notice, but we all know your tax return will cover that anyway
It's called overheads if you don't pass these costs on to your customers you won't survive as a business... It's no wonder so many businesses go under in Australia when they believe they don't have to pass on overhead costs.
These will be the same people thinking we don’t need farms because we get our food from the supermarket. Maybe these people should come out to the country and drive there small cars on the roads. They’ll be paying for new tyres every week. Keep up the great work team xxxx
They want us to think these people are dumb city folk but that's not the case. This is happening all around the world, this is part of a bigger operation think if u were running a military u need to stop reliable engines and 4wd as they are capable and threat to revolution sounds crazy but true.
I am a real estate agent in a suburban coastal area of SE qld, I don't drive a European sports car however, I drive a 2015 MQ triton. Many think this is stupid... But...This means I can offer styling and staging of their when I go to sell it, rubbish removal when they need it or to remove that table and pot plants that they left without needing... It offers me a point of difference in a competitive industry. Utes and large vehicle are needed in the world and we should not be taxed for wanting the ability to help others. I do not charge for tip runs or styling or any other use for the use...Having a ute is so useful even for a "desk job" like being an agent... And it means I can help the community and get away on weekends, away from the crowds and phone ringing when I need down time. I don't feel it's right that I should be taxed for having the ability to help out friends, family and clients when other agents are running around in 100k+ sports cars.

I am an apprentice linesman from south west qld. While I was away for training in Ipswich I came across a twin steer dump truck that had broken down on a steeper hill blocking an intersection. The number or little city cars backed up and honking the horns and going off at the Truckie was appalling. I took it upon myself to self to do a uturn and try help the poor Bugga. Because I own a 4x4 I was able to drop it in low range and tow the 24t truck up the hill to the nearest safe spot. Now let’s see a Yaris or Tesla do that. Love the content guys. Keep it coming.!!
I’m a tradie and I can remember when I was an apprentice I thought it was a good idea to grab 15 bags of concrete and put them in the boot of my Honda Accord……I’ve never felt more unsafe in a car in my life…..the Titanic would have steered better. In the cars defence I’m sure the 18 year old suspension was not up to the task. Since then maturity has improved and I wouldn’t think twice about that kind of weight, especially tools going into a smaller car. Tradies need the bigger cars to safely carry our tools around. Keep up the great work with the channel fellas! Love your work!
That's funny because I put the same amount of concrete (15 x 20kg = 300kg) in the back of a Toyota Prius in the upper Blue Mountains one time to see what would happen. It actually managed to get up the hill ok, but I could tell the car was complaining! But yeah, they call them Utes because they are useful. Nothing more useful than a Ute.
People in the city are pissed off because they can’t find a parking spot in the morning, because construction workers have been working already since 5:30 to build the houses for them, so yeah… take the tram I guess.
@@1mNotoriousTGfunniest thing about that is they really aren’t an ev car cause so much pollution in the making of the battery and they don’t actually end up being eco friendly until the end of the cars life and a battery of an ev car cost almost as much as one of the cars themself to make them for all the minerals they take out of the earth to make the battery 🤷🏼
Yes they actually get charged per klm in South Australia and Victoria, so is that fair enough? And dam these other comments shows that you watch to much sky news 😂😂
Remember when they put a higher tax on cars that are imported to make people buy Australian made cars, now we don’t have Australian made cars but the tax is still there haven’t changed it back
That's the story of the Australian government. They form a narrative, convincing people that what they're doing is for the benefit of the people or the economy. Little by little, Australia has gotten more regulated, controlled, and expensive. What's scary is that once the government has this control or new wealth, there's no giving it back..
@@mj_aussie_coaster_travels8310 no many years ago may have been about the Paul Keating maybe, the government was handing money over to Holden ford and Toyota to keep building cars here in Australia they also up the the tax on imported cars to persuade Australians to buy Australian built cars

Where in the story does it say this is a government proposal, they don't name the individuals who are making this submission, they say a group of experts , sounds like a lobby group Lobbying the government to make changes. I could get a group of experts to propose the banning of beer , doesn't mean the government will do it.
I'm already paying much more registration for my 850kg Sierra, because it's classification was changed due to no seatbelts in the back. It's now a touring utility. So my little zook costs the same to rego as my 3.6t patrol ute. They really do their best to strip all your cash, it's all it's about.
Yeah, your Patrol is not 3.6 tonnes. Maybe gross, but not kerb weight which is the weight you're stating for your zook. Otherwise you're looking at about 1.38 tonnes for your zook gross for a fair comparison.
@JohnSmith-nz4bn I have weighed both my cars mate. 3.6t in the patrol with just fridges in the canopy, and the suzuki was 950kg with me in it, I weigh 100kg. But hey, feel free to come watch me weigh it again.
I just watched this and as a truck driver and someone who at the moment me and the wifey go camping 2-3 times a year It took me a long time to get my 2009 pathfinder and Jayco van to do what we have wanted to do for a long time, get back to nature and enjoy, keep up the good fight you have our full support.
Thanks for bringing this topic up and as a tradie myself getting some credit for the hard shit days at work that some people don't know tradies put up with! You blokes speak sense! Legends!!!
We need the big American utes so we can comply with the strict towing requirements where a standard dual cab ute struggles to tow a large trailer /caravan or boat and have passengers or items in the ute . Let us have whatever we want to drive . Thats freedom . There’s lots of things inner city people do that I do like but I deal with it
The government stuffed up many years ago not helping Holden and Ford stay a float. They needed to keep these two companies building cars in this country. They should have taxed people less rates to buy these vehicles and made all government cars either Holden or ford. Myself as a Tradie would much prefer to operate out of comfortable Aussie ute. Now they want to charge us more tax for buying the next best thing a 4x4 ute.
Good discussion gents. Having immigrated from South Africa many years ago to Aus. You quickly notice that 4WDing, touring, caravaning, boating and experiencing the off roads in nature, is part of the Australian culture. It's amazing to see humans LIVIN life to the fullest. Why would anyone want to deter livin? They should be encouraging it and making it easier to access. Blows my mind 🤔
I’m sick of being trodden on ! I am only one of the few that speak up and actually contact politicians. As usual, your show brings these issues to our attention and everyone needs to speak up. I’m disappointed you boys never mention these politicians and lobbyist groups by name and put links in to contact them ?? Surely viewers would be more likely to actually do something about it. And the ones that do nothing need a kick in the ass with those boots 🇦🇺
Most people are too stupid to understand the working of politics. They complain endlessly about the end result if it effects them directly but dont understand about lobbying is what causes these nefarious agendas. All politicians do is lie endlessly on behalf of their lobbyists and all everyone wants to do is argue the validity of the lies rather than deal with the root issue.
Rego has nothing to do with roads construction or maintenance. Rego partially funds the government department that manages the system of rego. They have offices and computers and furniture and staff that get paid to go to work each day.

I just recently got my first 4x4 last year (Ranger Wildtrak), it has got to be the best car I've ever owned. I can literally do anything with it - take it off road, go shopping, school runs, tow trailers and boats. But most importantly what I love about my ranger is that I no longer need to worry about pot holes anymore. Simply just dont even notice them anymore. Victorian roads are so sh!t and around my area vicroads are forever just patching the pot holes made by trucks.
Wife has a skoda superb and in the last 3 years pot holes have cracked 2 rims. At $1400 a pop each thats quite expensive considering vicroads are suppose to "maintain" the roads... A 4x4 dual cab just seems like a practical solution for most people and even families these days. The govt just want more money because we are one of the most indebted nations in the world.
@@NickClemont9999 whats the rim size and tyre profile? these days as a mechanic you see it a lot on newer cars with almost no sidewall. still though, you are correct, the roads are maintained like dogs bollocks. the melba highway is a disgrace.
Federal Government excise is 42 cents per litre + 10% GST on the approximate $2.00 per litre sale price - so roughly 60 cents + 3x3 road levy and other state based taxes in New South Wales - so fuel tax is way more than most people think
@Gdsamplify a smaller vehicle won't fit all my tools in a manner which is organised. I'm at my weight limit. Toolboxes on the back allow secure storage. I also won't look professional turning up in a nissan micra. If you've ever driven on wet clay construction sites, you would understand the need for a 4x4 with mud tyres.

Can only speak on behalf of what’s happened in Victoria. But a lot of companies/councils just buy bulk dual cabs for their fleet as a tax write off and hardly any of them are actually used by the tradies to carry tools or trailers around. Mostly used by the foreman, engineers, managers etc. maybe introduce different registration rates between commercial and personal.
Absolutely ludicrous that this is even being considered. Thanks to you boys getting the word out there. I’m a young bloke who works in a small county earthworks business and I rely on all types of heavy machinery and my own Hilux to live. Let’s get the word out there and protect of jobs/lives.

Massive reversal in NZ thinking with our new gvmt, and thank God! Love that you guys are actually putting the foot down on things like this as well as track closures! In SE Vic were seeing so many 'seasonal closure' gates get closed and never reopened, and they're starting to say that they're closing them for aboriginal heritage. I fully respect the aboriginal people, and have several friends in that community but its not them that want us locked out! They dont want to spend the money maintaining tracks so they find an excuse to close them. Examples are Davies Plain Track, Ingeegoodbee Track, McFarlane Flat Track, Cobberas Track and plenty more! Beautiful, very remote areas that we all should be able to visit as Australians! "For we are ONE and free"
Exactly what was told to me about the closed tracks in NSW only late last year. They don't have money to keep maintaining them after getting rutted out and damaged.
Australia where foot paths are wider then the roads in the city. Not to mention that we are also paying nearly 50c tax for every $1 of fuel we put into vehicles.

Completely agree boys, so good that you’re using your platform to share this information. As you said, we need to step up and stop the mindless city civilians when they do stupid crap like this. Because, if we don’t, we won’t be able to wheel our favourite weekend tracks for much longer. Your new boots look bloody good btw Shauno.
Hi Shauno and Gray - There’s an elephant in the room here and it’s not your vehicle but according to a recent Drive article most old and new 4WDs will not be able to meet the new Euro 6d fuel emissions standards being applied here in Australia from late 2025 and retrospectively to all vehicles in 2028 - I suspect showroom floor owners are getting nervous about this and we may also see registration increases to penalise us that own them - that’s if we pass the annual inspection test because if it fails we may not be able to register them anymore - I put this to Andrew St Pierre White of 4x4 Overland UA-cam channel and he dismissed it - I don’t think he’s across this at all.
"and retrospectively to all vehicles in 2028", when you read what it actually says, "New versions of new cars, including SUVs and light commercials, sold from December 2025 will need to comply with the standards, which replace the existing Euro 5 measures. The standards will then apply to all new vehicles on sale from 2028" nothing about retrospectivity.............
Away around this would create new category mid size commercial or light truck. If standard has these defined then just get around it by new category of vehicle which then they need to change to any New ICE vehicle.
You are right, If our rego fees are going to roads, then the government must have built a Yellow Brick Road.................. Somewhere.... Roads around me are like driving on cobblestone, between the potholes and the over-filled potholes. If I ever need to shake cans of paint I can just chuck them in the back and go for a 3 minute drive, faster mixer than a paint store.
The roads around where i live there are trailers with broken axels in the table drains, broken draw bars, sheered wheel studs. How can they say our roads are safe if your well looked after gear fails from poor road conditions
There is often little to no consideration for people outside big cities. Those policies will likely only apply to cities and suburbs not rural. Tesla and lots of EVs are safer in a crash with other similar sized non-4wd vehicles (assuming no battery fire). So if large vehicles are banned they will be the safest. 4wd, truck based/body-on-frame have worse crumple zones than even regular petrol cars, so they are the least safe in a crash with similar weight/size vehicles. Large amount of people are buying larger vehicles than they need for work. They can hire a truck or suv for the few days a year they need the towing, payload or seating capacity of those vehicles. For the best environmental protection/energy efficiency people should be banned from living in low density housing, 4wding, travelling, living in rural areas or suburbs. Farming and living only allowed in high or medium density structures like units, apartments or skyscrapers. All vehicles are unnecessary, as everything/one is within 1km² of each other. Sounds dystopian but that's what the environmentalists want.
You guys are just legends. This shit is happening everywhere. Whether it be 4wding or firearms. The government don’t want us to have any of these and just have control of us. We need to fight for our say I’m a tradie and love my ranger Ute and also love the 200 .
I am a boilermaker and enjoy traveling with the family in my spare time. I have a Ranger which I use for work and play. The so called “experts” that are getting around on their E scooters etc what about charging them rego and insurance for their scooter or E bikes I can bet there would no longer be as many of all of those on the road. They almost have more rights on the roads then I do in my “fuel” taxed “insurance” taxed “tyre” taxed “rego” taxed “road” taxed vehicle. Australian government pull ya head in rant over. Cheers for another great epp guys take care.
Personally think all states should have it like Victoria. 800 or so for a year for all vehicles. no matter size or shape. No extra prices to keep custom plates on (looking at you NSW)
I've had my 04 Hilux since new. I refuse to use the tolls here in Melbourne because they charge me more as it's classed as a commercial vehicle.... even though it's for private use only. A bigger Patrol or LC is cheaper on the tolls here....go figure. Good video boys

I drive skip trucks in inner city of Brisbane yes it’s difficult to get down smaller streets when trades are there with there dual cabs. But if they were in smaller vehicles there would be more of them in the one street so even harder. And I manage to get the truck passed so those who complain normally are driving a small to medium vehicle and have no confidence with there judgment and get angry and expect the whole street to be empty

Gents could not agree more!! EV's are extremely heavy and cause more than their fair share of wear on our roads and do not contribute via the fuel levy!! As you say rego should be cheaper for commercially registered utes. Great chat!!

same but Not the Same, here in California in the USA, 6 mothers after i got a loan for a 2012 camaro V6 gets 24-35 mpg, in 2017 my state raised gas tax and registration, my registration went from 150$ to over 800$ Every year to re-register my car. because my 2 door camaro with decent gas mileage was located in a rather large city i was slapped with a gas guzzler tax for my registration. I went from having a vehicle i could afford was my 1st car with less than 25,000 miles on it, to I'm out of a job because i cant afford gas. i watched gas go from 3.43$ a gallon to 4$ than 5$ and during covid it shot up to 6$ a gallon now I'm spending 80$ every 3 days i had a 350$ payment 250$ insurance. and i only made 1200$ a month. i was left with 100$ for food and bills not related to the car. i was forced to quit my job because i could no longer afford to drive 60+ miles round trip to work and home every day. all it did was make me sit and realize after these new laws came in to play was my sate and those who run my state dont care about the people one bit only about filling there pockets so they can give eachother raises. i hope this works out better for you guys over in the AU then it did for me in the California USA
How friggin ridiculous, I bought my 2014 D-Max just a few years ago so I could get in and out of a vehicle without causing anymore stress and pain to my back which for me comes about when having to stoop down and back up again when trying to get into a standard low car. A 4x4 on the other hand, alleviates all the back pain while getting in and out of the higher seat. I’d never buy a small low car. It would be way too painful. Well done on in this episode guys. We all need to stand up and be heard. We the people…
Yes! I couldn’t agree more with you. I honestly can’t believe people with absolutely zero experience in off-road vehicles can make huge decisions like these.
I think I can shed some light on the write off part of the article. In the US you can write off an entire vehicle purchase if that vehicle is above 6000 lbs. if it’s below, you can’t. I believe you can only write off the first $12k. There’s a similar law in Australia. If the payload is over 1000kg or seats 9 people, you can write off up to $150,000. But if not, it’s considered a passenger car and you can only write off $57k. Don’t quote me on the specifics, but I’m fairly certain I have the broad strokes of it. Thanks guys love your videos.
Boys this is a bit of an over reaction to the news article, and you forgot an important point in favour of big vehicles. You need a big vehicle to tow even a reasonable sized caravan, hell my work has just found out our 200 series is overloaded with more than 2 people in it for our normal jobs! GVM upgrade here we come. Love your work by the way.
4wd's have their place, no argument. There are also valid arguments to impose higher rates on heavy vehicles (higher likelihood to do more damage to a lighter car in an accident). Factor in the time they're carrying a load. There's data that supports this in injury claims. That being said, there's a bunch of stupidly overweight ev's coming out that should also cop that penalty, not just utes. I've had Falcons for ages, they've always paid the highest rate (based on weight) for passenger vehicles. Also, there's no way people aren't taking advantage of the tax benefits of utes given the number of these vehicles in the top spots of best selling vehicles. The bull bar issue was made worse by that Pedestrian Council pest, Scruby. The loading zone thing sounds like BS to me too.
Same here in Canada it is the ludicrous ev morons can you imagine hiring a contractor and they show up with a Honda fit with tools ladders and supplies draped all over the outside lol
While the the whole argument is completely wrong it does bring up the fact that there does need to be a rethink on the rego system country wide. Big cars shouldn't be taxed more but if they want to incentivise small and or electric/hybrid cars they should make rego for them cheaper
Great video and discussion boys. Let's hope this video triggers a much, much wider response from the public. The issue in Australia is that the general public is calm and obedient enough to allow this to happen. That 'She'll be right' attitude. You can bet the government knows this, and almost 'expects' no public outrage. This is only on the table because government knows this class of vehicle is popular, and wants to make money off it, plain and simple.
Think about this. The demerit system was introduced when basic speed detection devices were in play. Now the same demerit points are aplied to fixed cameras, mobile cameras, phone usage, sest belts, police have speed detection in there cars. So why is the arcaic 12 point system still in play. This whole system should be reviewed. What other act in breaking the law are you penalised multiple ways immeadiately. You get a fine. Loose points and potentialy loose your driving privelage, you steal from a shop, you get a slap on the wrist.
You need to read up on the demerit point system that is used in Australia , drivers dont lose points or “ loose ‘ points. Drivers start on zero and accumulate demerit points. I have no idea why so many people in Australia gets this incorrect.
@@AussieDazza That varies on a state to state basis , here in South Australia out start out with 12 demerit points on a full licence and you lose points for each time you get caught breaking a road rule and when you get to zero points your licence gets suspended . the points take 2 or three years to get reinstated to your licence and it's about 3 to 6 months till you gets some points back if your licence gets suspended by the accumulation of lost points .
Hi Shauno and Gray - if they take away 4x4 and trucks we will not be able to explore Australia, And farms will stop as there is no way to transport them. And I really hope I can get one of the past boots as I have not had a new pair of boots in two years Keep up the great work team 👍
Yes, that’s the plan, not allowing us to explore Australia and also restricting the movement out of the city in the near future. It's all about slowly introducing to 15-minute city.
Bit of fallout from the demise of Australian manufacturing. We used to have car based utes which were a significant portion of utes on the road. Now there's no choice but to get 4wd based utes. Not only are there more 4wd's on the road, but the bush is pretty busy now too. Not to mention a few having a crack at a bit of bush summernats.
Hi Guys, how about we think outside the box - take the bull bar off replace it with a hinged queensize mattress so if you hit anyone ( all good - soft & comfy ) then as you know everything has to have at least two uses in the bush , so at night you fold down the mattress by the hinged mechanism for a good night's sleep also a possible ( genius ) third use - attach a broom to the bottom edge of the mattress & sweep the road while your driving , cheers Phil
A fun fact. In New South Wales a 200kg box trailer costs $70 per year to register, but a 3.2 tonne Tri-axle converter Dolly used in a Road Train costs $56 per year to register - and the Dolly can be used in a 82.5 tonne Road Train for commercial purposes.
Haha - Lets see the average dualcab tow that (not totally negligible ball weight) - show the lads how limited their little TDi really is. - Lets rate the GVM - that's what we are paying for here... (Gross axle group Loading 700kg (unbraked) vs 20T - on the dolly as par of the roadtrain gross ~131T + on a Tridrive full tri-axle BAB Quad rig or Triple Train (2A) - (some run higher weights on some tables)...) ... AND a Dolly converter is pretty useless without the roadtrain, tell all the boys and girls what a Roadtrain Primemover costs to Register....
Bull bars have never been crash tested from factory and the airbags and safety systems won't operate properly to keep occupants safe as without a bull bar. Would you rather keep your family safe as possible or stop your car getting damaged by a Roo? I understand the benefits of a bull bar like adding a winch and spoties but it is a safety compromise. 👍
This is madness, I’m a property owner, rebuilding after loosing just about everything after the 2019/20 fires. I need my ute to rebuild and to manage the property. Sorry but a small car isn’t going to cut it. So there are those out there that think I should be punished for that? and to top it off hit me for more tax dollars because I like and need to do my 4wd touring as a way to relax, take time for myself and my family the way we as 4wders like to spend our down time. I’m happy with a user pays system but don’t forget a lot of people like myself aren’t made of cash. There’s more too, what about the new vehicle emission standards that they want to bring in early next year. Seems as a 4wd community we are up against it.
I am a diary worker in nz!! I drive a hilux! Do i need it? No why do i love it? Cuz i love it, love driving it! Let people keep their happiness ! Leave them be!
I disagree. 20 years ago I was surprised when I paid rego on my first dual cab ute (VIC) and rang VicRoads to confirm, as it was less than my sedans/wagons. The reason I was given is because "utes" are traditional 2 person vehicles and hence lesser collateral. I mentioned that it was a dual cab, registered to seat 5, but they confirmed a ute is a ute and the rego/TAC fee is less. I believe they should be the same cost to register as any other 5 seat vehicle.
I live in a rural area I have not seen once a American Ute tow anything more than a caravan or have anything in the back of them, they all have tubs and we all know how useless a tub is for work and are perfectly clean and it shows that they are just used as a show car and tax right off. I have no issues with the stand size of Ute. but lets be honest a 2wd Ute could do the job of 80% of peoples work and if you live in the city it would most likely go up to 99% plus if your buying a American Ute they are like 150K they get like 12L per 100 so what's an extra $1000 a year, its not like you cant afford it.
Top 3 selling cars in Australia 2023 are all duel cab utes, combined selling over 150k units. The safety, tech, comfort, and practicality is hard to beat for us tradies which is what the Australian population has come to realise since the government failed to help keep Australian motor vehicle manufacturing here in Aus. The taxable benefit business owners receive for buying a duel cab isn’t even worth talking about. We don’t buy Ute’s for a tax incentive, we buy them for the practicality. We build our Ute’s to improve our safety, practicality and transport of our office on wheels. (All expensive taxed items). There are so many problems with this article, I’m glad 4WD247 has stood up to tackle these issues!
The rights won't get taken away if we 4wder's unite and create an online dust cloud over all the noise the city dwellers are making about hiking rego prices up!! We've got this team.
I reckon it’s a great idea. They are the most offensive cars on the road. Get massive tires and a bull bar, winch with orange tracks attached to the roof and your jerrycan so you can cross all of those big river sections in Bexley and parramatta.

Spot on mate. Ev's don't do it in the bush. I sometimes wonder what the politicians think about us out here. Not a lot I am guessing
You can't do it in a Nissan cube?
I had a vw tiguan before and that's a big boot space. I still had to put stuff on the back seat and take it out when I got home so I can get the dog in and the shopping (the boot was rammed full) and damaging the interior. I don't think the cube boot space is any bigger.
These will be the same people thinking we don’t need farms because we get our food from the supermarket. Maybe these people should come out to the country and drive there small cars on the roads. They’ll be paying for new tyres every week.

Someone mentioned on another video they're flushing out ppl from the rural to live in their sick smart cities.
Yet these roads were built on far less money with far less registered vehicles.. now where is all the money going from registration? Certainly not on the riads

This right here is it 👍🏼
If it's a work vehicle, whatever the extra cost would be if it ever happens will just go into your tax return and be written off as a work expense, so there's no need to charge your clients extra, and how much extra would you charge each client, $1, $5, $200 this type of comment makes no sense, if rego does go up, I will just be addint it to all my other costs of running my business and claim it back from the gov't as they increased the price, simple as that, no need to punish my clients for this.
@@-PORK-CHOP- that’s not how it works, it comes off the taxable income, not your tax bill. I hope you have an accountant to do your taxes
so if your rego goes up from say 800 to 1100 you gonna charge the next 40 customers an extra 400 bucks each? because if you just added an extra 10 bucks per job to account for rego no customer would even notice, but we all know your tax return will cover that anyway
It's called overheads if you don't pass these costs on to your customers you won't survive as a business...
It's no wonder so many businesses go under in Australia when they believe they don't have to pass on overhead costs.

In the cars defence I’m sure the 18 year old suspension was not up to the task. Since then maturity has improved and I wouldn’t think twice about that kind of weight, especially tools going into a smaller car. Tradies need the bigger cars to safely carry our tools around.

That's funny because I put the same amount of concrete (15 x 20kg = 300kg) in the back of a Toyota Prius in the upper Blue Mountains one time to see what would happen. It actually managed to get up the hill ok, but I could tell the car was complaining!

I don't think anyone should be paying more rego until the disgraceful state of our roads is rectified. What the hell are we paying for?!

Federal Government excise is 42 cents per litre + 10% GST on the approximate $2.00 per litre sale price - so roughly 60 cents + 3x3 road levy and other state based taxes in New South Wales - so fuel tax is way more than most people think

My present duelcab hilux sr5 is an important link to my late grandfather. It was the only car I owned he enjoyed being in. I don't want to be taxed out of this memory of him. Vehicles are not just a pile of metal and plastic. Some hold important memories of lost loved ones.
Graham that comment about EV in the bush is spot on I’m in the USA and we have electric hummers that are 5000 Kg And yes they have to put a heck of a strain on the trails you put a caravan on the back and your at 10,000Kg That’s just crazy on a trail in my experience and I drive a Semi truck so I’m 40,000Kg s all day long but not on a trail
Thanks for the info, boys.
As always, you have your fingers on the pulse.
If there is anything we can sign to try and stop another crazy tax scheme from the government, please let us know.
Well done on the show.
Crossy. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the discussion we support all local businesses and country towns when 4 wheel driving thanks keep up the great work
Hi Shauno and Gray - There’s an elephant in the room here and it’s not your vehicle but according to a recent Drive article most old and new 4WDs will not be able to meet the new Euro 6d fuel emissions standards being applied here in Australia from late 2025 and retrospectively to all vehicles in 2028 - I suspect showroom floor owners are getting nervous about this and we may also see registration increases to penalise us that own them - that’s if we pass the annual inspection test because if it fails we may not be able to register them anymore - I put this to Andrew St Pierre White of 4x4 Overland UA-cam channel and he dismissed it - I don’t think he’s across this at all.
It's criminal.
@@johnsullivan6410You beat me to it. I was about to correct him as well. 👍
Try using your brain instead of the beer
Away around this would create new category mid size commercial or light truck. If standard has these defined then just get around it by new category of vehicle which then they need to change to any New ICE vehicle.
Never heard about this till I watched this. The rego was supposed to be for the upkeep of our roads, but it's not.
We need to fight for our say
I’m a tradie and love my ranger Ute and also love the 200 .
As someone from vic that’s absolutely not true but ranger is roughly 650 a year for registration but the wife’s yarris is 550 or something
My 1 series is 800 n something same price as my prado n Mrs i30
In Victoria
@@stevefairley2535 exactly. it doesnt matter what car or truck itll be 800 or so in Victoria
I've had my 04 Hilux since new. I refuse to use the tolls here in Melbourne because they charge me more as it's classed as a commercial vehicle.... even though it's for private use only.
A bigger Patrol or LC is cheaper on the tolls here....go figure.
Good video boys
Yeah it's unreal.. i sold my colorado and bought a prado and my toll bill is nearly halved.. Linkt is an absolute scam
Really I don’t think my ranger gets classed as a commercial vehicle I would ring them and check that unless it’s registered under a business
@@william6815 mate they sent me a letter and told me so. Check your toll invoices. All utilities are classified as commercial and charged accordingly.... and extra. It's privately registered ever since I bought it new in 04.

Victoria really is the California of Australia... that is the most ridiculous thing. But I can't say I'm shocked or surprised.
As a touring musician and a farmer I need a Ute
Between lugging gear and the distances traveled (from 1000km to 3000km per weekend) I need a safe reliable vehicle (b/bar include)
A small car just would not fill my needs.
100% behind you boys, living 100km south of Perth & travel to work in my BT50 which Ithen use to tow my off road van, keep up the fight.
I owned a as thunder ute,and couldn't keep tyres and rims up to it. The cause was potholes in the roads bitumen roads at that. Hence now I own a Hilux ute.
Fight hard and keep it true brothers
I drive skip trucks in inner city of Brisbane yes it’s difficult to get down smaller streets when trades are there with there dual cabs. But if they were in smaller vehicles there would be more of them in the one street so even harder. And I manage to get the truck passed so those who complain normally are driving a small to medium vehicle and have no confidence with there judgment and get angry and expect the whole street to be empty
I don't get your reasoning for why people would buy multiple small cars just because they have room for them
Love the channel, have been binge watching for weeks now. I think Shaun is right - focus the attention on the idiots on the road driving dangerously, I see it every day. Plus cost of living is too high as it is to be talking about more taxes and they're picking soft targets. Spiffy boots :-)
because vote pick labor always high tax
Gents could not agree more!! EV's are extremely heavy and cause more than their fair share of wear on our roads and do not contribute via the fuel levy!! As you say rego should be cheaper for commercially registered utes. Great chat!!
Totally agree with everything you said. We have a 200 series and Bushtracker caravan. Worked our guts out to retire and buy them, paid taxes all our working lives but still they want to take more away from us.
loading zones are used by little hatchbacks i know this cause im a delivery driver in mackay and get all sorts from holden barina to a massive ram parked in them rain days are worse
Economists and policy makers are genuinely detached from reality
For sure
Always have been. Although a big part of the problem is if they don’t spew out rhetoric in support of governments, a lot of them are out of a job.
same but Not the Same, here in California in the USA, 6 mothers after i got a loan for a 2012 camaro V6 gets 24-35 mpg, in 2017 my state raised gas tax and registration, my registration went from 150$ to over 800$ Every year to re-register my car. because my 2 door camaro with decent gas mileage was located in a rather large city i was slapped with a gas guzzler tax for my registration.
Wars have been started for less. Just saying.
I take it you meant 6 months 😂😂, if you meant 6 mother’s then you’ve been a busy lad 😂😂
We the people…
What a great suggestion on the incentives for apprenticeships. Get them into trades! Loved the leggo as well. Grandkids look out
Sack this government
Trump 2024 = sane policies = maybe getting our country back.
Yes! I couldn’t agree more with you. I honestly can’t believe people with absolutely zero experience in off-road vehicles can make huge decisions like these.
How do you know they have no experience?

Even worse in Ontario, Canada we paid $30Billion to Stalantis and VW to build EV batteries we don’t want and don’t work at -30*C
While the the whole argument is completely wrong it does bring up the fact that there does need to be a rethink on the rego system country wide. Big cars shouldn't be taxed more but if they want to incentivise small and or electric/hybrid cars they should make rego for them cheaper
Why don't they just let people decide if they want battery guzzlers or gas guzzlers without any incentives.
I mean it is good to have cleaner air in city's, so yeah we should incentives hybrids/ electrics
9:57 goes to GST, company tax, payroll tax, etc etc. Government still gets their cut regardless.
Every country in the world rely on trucks, in Nz its almost pointless running a diesel vehicle as they cost way more in tax its bullsh**
The end result is the same, what’s the big deal? It’s just a really stupid technicality, and again, a stupid system
@@OfficialRileyWilsonThe big deal is, is that people should know what they’re talking about.
@@AussieDazzaOh really, because you count up to 12 instead of down to zero that’s your gripe. No wonder the country is stuffed.
Hi Shauno and Gray - if they take away 4x4 and trucks we will not be able to explore Australia, And farms will stop as there is no way to transport them.
And I really hope I can get one of the past boots as I have not had a new pair of boots in two years
Keep up the great work team 👍
Yes, that’s the plan, not allowing us to explore Australia and also restricting the movement out of the city in the near future. It's all about slowly introducing to 15-minute city.
Absolutely amazing seeing some old faces again especially Grahams😂
You’ve got the platform, protest !! Convoy to parliament
When half a million fuel cab utes turn up to Canberra and grind it to a complete stop I’m sure they will think twice.
Probably fair when the Road Train prime mover costs nearly $13k pa and each trailer is another $1900 on top of that.
Sick and tired of governments excuses for more taxes.
Don't vote labor again....simple...
So if they ban bull bars just change the name of them too roo bars.. American here. Video hits home.
I would encourage everyone to read the article and come back to this video
I have no issues with the stand size of Ute. but lets be honest a 2wd Ute could do the job of 80% of peoples work and if you live in the city it would most likely go up to 99%
plus if your buying a American Ute they are like 150K they get like 12L per 100 so what's an extra $1000 a year, its not like you cant afford it.
It's because they know its the best selling segment of vehicle in Australia, thus more tax dollars. Also, that group is called the Greens 😂
