You should try using a few cans of break parts cleaner. I work for a shop and all we do is just spray break part cleaner into the rim and viola clean rim with less work

As someome who's regularly had to clean decades worth of brake dust of wheels and refinish them for work, that was a pretty light coat and a bit of soapy water would have been enough.

Can’t see the point of pre foaming. I would have just hit it straight up with an iron remover or wheel cleaner...
An Iron Remover is a touch up no real solution.
Andrea a touch up ??? It’s a fallout remover, not a brake cleaner, just designed to help dissolve of iron particles imbedded in the paint work
@@danturner5709 Mercedes are much trickier to deal with, because they collect BD faster and it sets faster to, so when it comes time, you have to spend more time
Matt Rob what’s the car being a Mercedes got to do with anything, DB has many factors, brake pressure/brake compounds/disks/speed/weather the make of car is irrelevant

That was a great, honest and realistic demo; mercedes-benz produce crazy amounts of brake dust and eight months is a very long time for that dust to etch into the finish of the wheel and your product released most of the brake dust without agitation, that was really impressive, on top of that to be able to remove all of the brake dust with a very light agitation, it really deserves credit. I can't wait to try this product. On a side note, I like your channel a lot because of your honest opinion on products and techniques, you're not trying to just convince people that abc products are the best so they buy them and you can make money like obsessed garage.

Whenever I have to replace the brake pads, I always use the more expensive brakes because they don’t produce as much dust

I use Autoglymn engine machine cleaner on the inside of the rims and it works better than any wheel cleaner. I then apply a coat of wax to protect them.Great demo .
You can get the same results with aluminum brighter that is sold in Napa

In all honesty, I truly expected much more wheel dust to come off, especially using a pressure washer to rinse the solution off. I get that you are selling a product, but you often do side-by-side comparison with another product. I cheap out on my wheels and use Simple-Green. I think it would have done at least equally as well as the cleaner you are using considering that you still had to agitate it to get the majority of the grime off the wheel. IMO. . .
you may be right about simple green working just as well, but what u mean expected more to come off... There is literally like nothing left, its clean as a whistle.
Are you referring to wal mart simple green?
Simple green will work great....right up until it destroys the finish. It may take a year or two but eventually the acid of Simple Green will win. I learned this through bitter experience. :)
My trucks wheels would be a really great test for this cleaner... I’ve yet to find a cleaner to do much of anything... love to try it
mike kossman to right, that would be a proper test. I would say you need a mild acid based product then wax them.

I'm actually keen on cleaning the inside barrel and spokes of my wheels. Fortunately they are 5 spoke wheels, so I'm able to do it regularly without having to remove them. All in all, the inside barrel of a rim plays some roll in the overall looks of a car.
Interesting video, though I was expecting to see some info regarding treating the surface of the barrel, either further cleaning or protecting for next time.

Auto Fanatic if clay and compound don’t work then it’s the paint and the surface below he paint that’s the issue.

what about 8 years of break dust? :) yep...really old ones.. Rims of a 1994 Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI...I'm saying only 8 years because they where not always used...soo, to be nice i skipped a couple years. ;)
Joao Figueiredo lysol toilet bowl cleaner not joking try it and a bristle brush. Works like magic. No water needed just to rinse off.

Purple power would have ate through all of that instantly. I use purple power on my motorcycle that had a oil leak didn’t agitate it at all just spray on then pressure wash and leaves any surface squeaky clean every time.
Hova Street King purple power is not safe on all finishes
Purple power is great but it can eat away at clear coat and paint
mr green is cheaper and same thing a purple power and yes its not safe on all finish
Purple power also destroys paint so not good for painted alloy wheels. It's worse than using an acid based cleaner.

i do this every day at work but not with foame but with a red acid special for rims and i swear they wil be as new

That’s a pressure washer- you don’t even need soap for that joker...
I was more impressed with the wheel wooly.
Trust me you still need soap, a jetwash can only do so much before it starts destroying stuff.
It appeared to be very light pressure. As other post said, if you use high pressure it will cause damage. That is just my opinion and if you wanted more info you could consult a local detailing expert.
Pls be in lightened: pressure washers can only clean as mutch they can, for a shine /cleaning result u need 2 use some kind of soap Thanks

0:55 you left a fingerprint on the brake dusted rim even when it was dry. Brake dust or dust. The brake dust on my rims is way stronger than yours. 9:15 the best part of this video, it feels so nice.

That’s good stuff, usually I’ll take an old battery drill a hole in it let the battery acid drain into a bucket and use a regular old paint brush and it gets EVERYTHING OUT. And yes I use safety gloves while doing it.
Use a clay bar now. It'll fix those right up
tried 3M clay no help at all including 3M Perfect It Compound. for me to spend time it is easier for me and more cost effective to have wheels refinished as my friend owns the largest rim repair refinish shop around here. time is money
Auto Fanatic yeah sometimes they are just too far gone. That's why you gotta stay on top of it. Those were pretty beat up and your cleaner is pretty effective. From a few feet no one would notice the flaws.

That looked like an “IK sprayer”. It’s $100. The break dust dissolver I’m not sure. There’s so many on the market and he most popular is Meguiars wheel brightener.
Do you need a foam sprayer for this product or can you get the same result from a regular sprayer/spray bottle?
I bought a 2004 forester xt that its wheels never been cleaned on the inside. I used wink rust remover, bar keepers friend, 409, bon-ami. Pretty much anything i had at the house. And used some brass wire wheels i had. Took forever and the inside is pitted from the years of neglect. I may polish the aluminum or paint them soon. Seems like this product here works well
Adam's wheel cleaner could have that spotless in literally 2 minutes.

Mercedes Got The Worst Pads Out Of Any Car Company Up-To-Date.
I use wheel and tire cleaner from the dollar store. Spray, scrub like you did and pressure wash. Done. $1 for 16 oz. Turns out the same if not better. Followed up by jet x every six months.
I use engine cleaner mixed 50/50 with water and brush it with soft brush. It works well and not damage the paint on rims

Not to knock your product but a dedicated inner wheel foam block+car wash soap couldve done the same job faster minus chemicals, and wasting of water.
I wouldnt want a caustic solution on my tires either.
people do not want to sit there scrubbing wheels and tires, that is society and what dictates easier products. wasting water?

I agree with 'Wesside', for the amount of solution and water and you still had to scrub the wheels. Not sure this was a great demonstration of the product. Many other Wheel Cleaners would have removed more grime with a whole lot less water.

Some regular soap and a power washer would do the job no need for expensive soap
You should have run your hand across it so we could see how loose the dust was. Gives no validity to your product if it would come out with just water or your hands.

you do realize cars are sold prior to the actual year you know, this car was sold in Oct 2017 as a 2018 model.
Auto Fanatic oh I see, I wasn't being funny, just didn't sound right. Here in the UK a 2018 plate vehicle is classed as such upon when it was registered. :)

In North America we dont have number plates specific for the year of the car. We get random number plates (or pay extra for custom plates) and we can register them for any car... some people have had the same plate for 20+ years with multiple cars...

Maybe you don't, but for people who are enthusiasts and have 5 spoke wheels, the inner barrel can be seen quite well and some just like their wheels clean before a show/event

I've had my second hand car for eight years and only cleaned it now for the first time the wheel barrels by using oven cleaner and drill brush to get the same results you did.
oven cleaner is caustic and damages your wheels finish and your respiratory system from using it. Our product was not designed as such and was designed to be a safer more effective wheel cleaning solution for pro detailers and enthusiasts who care about their cars.

I used easy off oven cleaner and it worked like a charm!wheels look brand new!
oven cleaner is one of the most caustic chemicals you can ever use in your home or garage as it has a mega high PH that etches the finish it is not safe for your respiratory system but if you do not care have fun with it.
you can easily get those barrels smooth again, Tar remover, then a Iron fallout remover then finish it with a clay bar.

800 grit sandpaper will smooth them down, you can use 800 on leather seats and leather steering wheel !
Do use a wheel wax to prevent buildup and make you it easy to clean?
My wheels have not been cleaned for more than 3 years now, I guess these are not the worst out there but I like the final finish!
I used to always use Autosmart wheel acid, I know people will be against that because it can be incredibly acidic depending on how you dilute it, but I've never had a problem even with vehicles like a Toyota Hilux or a Ford Ranger.
Will clay bar remove last of the brake dust embeded and what can u put on that will repell dirt and ice
Can break dust melt rim coat, and leave permanent scratches? Brand new car was spitting black/brown fluid from calipers area, and because i didnt have all accesories for pressure washer, inside of rims werent cleaned for about a month. After that month, all dirt in barrel, just left permanent marks of caliper or pads throwing liquid to rim. Only uncoated barrel has the marks. Outside/clear coated section is perfect. Since i picked my car from dealer, was doing this, and i was having to clean bottom of front doors, and probably above rear bumber, because i was afraid to penetrate cars clear coat. But was a black/brown thick liquid. A liquid that if you try to clean with finger on a white cars paint, you will end cleaning with water because its like brown glue…
Any ideas? Whatever was, it melted some areas of all 4 rims, where it splashed.
