This is literally the best video I found to date on the subject. Lots of videos are about "natural remedies", not realizing a lot of those oils they used actually make things worse for a lot of seborrheic dermatitis. I have Atopy, as well as my son. A genetic defect, the cause of our astma and tons of allergies. Most oils added to generic shampoos/treatments trigger contact allergies with us. Almond oil and tea tree oil are the worst..
I didn't know there were salicylic acid leave ons, which sound perfect for us. We can't shower or wash our skin/scalp often, because it increases our eczema and itchiness. I learned a lot from this video and I hope we can finally find something to control the flakes. Thank you so much! ☺️

I had it terribly on my eyebrows and sides of my nose and parts of my forehead.. It was really messing with my self esteem. I went to a dermatologist and he told me to use a shampoo daily to control it (for 30 days) and a cream to use daily for 2 months... He also gave me a list of safe products to use. I got la roche posay toleraine ultra night cream and the red patches and flakes from my face disappeared within the next day... The shampoo is very very drying to my hair but not to my scalp. So I am using it every other day to limit the side effects along with a scalp moisturizer from a brand called sebocalm. I opted not to use the cream because it contained a corticosteroid and it made me too nervous, but it seems that my face cleared up with just the moisturizer and shampoo.. hope someone may find this helpful..

I’ve always been told I’ve had a dry scalp. Mentioning how stress can cause a flare up of this makes so much sense. For the past month I’ve started to get red scaly patches of this especially around my mouth/nose/cheeks area on my face. Last month my grandma passed away unexpectedly and a week ago one of my best friend’s passed away as well. Since then the amount of stress I’ve felt is overwhelming.. with that the patches on my face have gotten much worse and very irritated..

I got horrible seb derm on my scalp when i was 14, the same time I became allergic to dogs and nuts. Super thick scaley patches all over my scalp! It was horrible! My derm prescribed me all different topical drops to use, and various topical treatments to soften the scales.
Nothing worked, except topical hydro cortisone 1% (scalpicin is the brand name) and Tsal shampoo! I’m now 20 and use the hydrocortisone drops 1x a week ish after showering and use the shampoo 2x a week. Did it every day until scales were gone. Took years to figure out what works for me but it was life changing!

I could cry. Thank you so much Dr. Dray! My 5 yo has been suffering with something and none of the derms we went to thought to tell me it was SD. we’ve been using Tgel and Tsal for over a year now and seen amazing results but her eyes, ears(canals and inner and behind), underarms, and groin are constant flairs. I haven’t been hitting those areas with any SA or other items you mentioned. Trying it all! Thank you!!! 🥹🥹

I notice I get flare ups seasonally with the change of the weather. I mainly have it on my scalp and hairline, Nizoral is a little pricy but it works great. If I get a patch on my face I will use a tiny amount of Nizoral on it, let it sit for a minute, then rinse.

Finally I have found a doctor, products, and exactly what is called of what I have on my face. Its getting worst and I get so depressed by it. Its sucks so bad and its even made me cry thinking that it will never go away or even dissapear for at least a week. Its on my inner face cheeks, both sides of the nose, in between my eyebrows, on my eyebrows, on my forehead and a lil bit on my mustash and beard now. Its spreading more and more and maybe one of these products can calm it down. Thank you Dr. Dray for this informative and helpful video. I wish everybody who has this problem the best of luck.

I would like you to please make an updated video with products that we can use daily in those periods in which it is controlled and we must avoid products that can exacerbate it but at the same time take care of our skin. This would help a lot! I find I can’t do much to my face to prevent a flare up (because so far what I wash with/cleanse with will dry out my skin and make more oil and then blow up into seb derm) and it would be great to have a way to stop flare ups from occuring

@@whiteshadow943 Hi there! Regarding the face cleansers, what works for me are two products: La Roche-Posay Toleriane for sensitive skin when my DS is under control, and when I see that something may flare up I use a little bit of Nizoral shampoo in those areas, just a couple of times and then come back to the Toleriane. The scalp is another story, it is more tricky to control it without dry out the hair :/

I just started having issues after my daughter was born. It has really done a number in my self esteem. My dermatologist prescribed the ketoconazole and hydrocortisone 50/50 mix for 2 weeks and it just didn’t really help a lot. I am so encouraged after watching this and can’t wait to try some of these products. I feel like a monster. Even covering it up with makeup is difficult because of the scaliness and flakes. I feel alone in this struggle and frustrated. I always have had great skin and now it’s awful.
