Lyrics
Now the oceans have drained out
Can I come up for air?
‘Cos I’ve been learning to live without
And I’m fighting with broken bones
I wasn’t ready for the rapture
We’re only passing through
But these words, they mean nothing to me
I know that time will mend this fracture
But I’ve been lost in a maze
And every route I take
Leads right back to you
Now the oceans have drained out
Can I come up for air?
‘Cos I’ve been learning to live without
And I’m fighting with broken bones
Now the skies have been blacked out
I’ve got to find my way
‘Cos it’s been raining but there’s a drought
And I’m fighting with broken bones
I’ve been searching through the wreckage
But it’s like standing in the eye of a storm
When will I finally get the message?
Some things are broken beyond repair
This is my cross to bear
My own meaningless catastrophe
I never had the time to prepare
Because I never knew that all my nightmares could come true
I’ve spent my fair share
In the deepest depths of despair
‘Cos I was too lost down there to care
I wasn’t braced for the fallout

It is in Apple Music aswell!
Wasn't there a minute ago. Preorder done :) thanks.
Does anyone else get a distinct feeling of sadness and desperation out of this song? I have to admit that I'm not the biggest Architects fan in the world, but that this song is probably one of my favorite songs ever. I've been through an awful lot in my life (I'm 50 this year), and when my dad asked me the other day on the phone how I can continue to listen to this kind of music "at your age", I simply told him, "You hear how he sounds when he's singing? Like he's in pain and is hiding it through his music? That's pretty much how I feel at any given moment."
Music like this gets me through the day, allows me to keep a smile on my face for my beautiful children, be kind and generous to my wife, love my fellow man, and defend my family to my last breath.
Just a stellar song. Sheer perfection. 10/10 gentlemen. You have my respect forever.
This is exactly what I felt from this song.
So what are you supposed to listen to at 50? Would be my response
@@MrSoLiDIcEplays I guess I'm supposed to be listening to easy listening classics or something, but the trapped 25 year old in me just won't have it.
Thats right.
My dad is 68 and still rocks out to sabbath and zeppelin. Metal is ageless. i'm hitting 40 soon and these guys are in heavy rotation in my playlist.
And i fully agree with your comments. Life is hard enough without kickass music.

I was worried that Tom's absence would cause a dip in quality in their writing, but this song is phenomenal. Tom would have been proud of this.
Josh middleton has something to do with it in sure hes extremely talented
I think it was interesting that Josh, Adam and Alex stand together on the field together at the end of the video. I wonder if that means something.
@@fardiemann what do you mean with "something"?

It's nice to find a metalcore band that understands the benefits of music composition.
Try nekrogolikon pretty sweet sound
@Deimonk It's not snobbery to appreciate skill and dedication. Rap and country I leave alone. I've been a metalhead since I was 5.
@Deimonk No insult, just an observation. I play metalcore. Travelled with a band for 9 years. I also write so I've learned something from Architects.
@Deimonk When you grow up you'll appreciate more than just the heavy blasts.
Deimonk Yes I do, bitch.
My 23 year old little brother is in Pittsburgh still recovering from a double lung transplant and fighting a losing battle . Thank you Architects for making me feel like I'm not alone in my sorrow. The song is almost 4 years old now and I'm still getting chills every time the last chorus comes in
same omg the last one.. 😫
its true magic
The fall off of them has been so sad
Gone With the Wind (Tom acknowledges his fate)
Memento Mori (The passing of Tom)
Doomsday (The grief and loss of losing Tom)
Hereafter (learning to move on and let go)
The final act is yet to come
Also, before Gone With the Wind there's C.A.N.C.E.R. off Lost Forever
ChangeProductions cancer wasn’t primarily about his own cancer. The song was a metaphor for someone. Tom didn’t really start to be open about his diagnosis till All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
Thank you for this. I've listened to Doomsday countless times and never heard the other songs. Heard it in a completely different light this time around.
It's quite tragic and inspiring at the same time.
final act: rebirth
I sadly discovered the epicness that is Architects after the passing of Tom. I am truly glad I found them as they are just amazing beyond belief. Their music is just killer, but I am also into words and meanings, and just the power they put into their songs is just amazing. This song is no different...the tier these guys are on is just awesome. \m/

Tom wrote the words but I love sams delivery.. he sings it all with toms pain.
I don't even expect anything less than masterpieces from Architects anymore. They've grown so much over a decade, that's how a band should evolve. Nothing but love for this song!
well considering their main songwriter died 2 years ago this is very optimistic, even though i'm also sure they will deliver on the next album.
@@AlexKerski I think with 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us', the last album Tom could finish with them, they truly found their ultimate style. To me it was a climax. 'Doomsday' & 'Hereafter' are just magnificent pieces true to the style they found on 'AOGHAU'. So, I'm totally with you, guess they're going to deliver with their new album, no doubt. It's like Tom was guiding them in their definite direction. But... That's just my opinion. ✌💖🤘
Well, Tom was a really good songwriter, but Josh is also an awesome songwriter. Obviously, you can't compare Sylosis with Architects, but he's doing an amazing job here. I'm expecting a lot from Holy Hell, because one of my favourite bands, is working with one of my favourite guitarists.
Listen to ”Lost Forever // Lost Together” and THEN come back and try to love this song. PALES in comparison to the album it’s trying to replicate.
@@havoren Who said they're trying to replicate anything? What the fuck would be the point in replicating an album that they've already released? You're allowed to not like it, but don't make stupid fucking comments.
Anyone noticed that the piano line in this song is the same as the one at the end of Doomsday ?
That's the level of details I expect from my favorite band !
Great...so beautiful
I noticed it too ;)
Detail? Or laziness...
@radoRodgar it's s story, doomsday, the word has ended and hereafter, living after the end of the world, that's how I see it, i don't think it's lazy, it's more of a concept to a bigger story
radoRodgar could very well be.. to be fair, it is probably thematic, I’m just a cynical bastard

People weren’t fond of “The Here And Now” so I guess that one?! Although I’d throw AOGHAU in the pot as well despite having 4 or 5 amazing songs.
Haters gon' hate.
AOGHAU was AOTY.
This band is so insanely good at being melodic and heavy at the same time. Now that I think about it, Holy Hell is such a fitting name for an album of theirs lol.
you could also tell me it was the name of an Amity Affliction song or album and I would probably believe you.
They’re pretty much OBSESSED with shitting on religion after their controversial track “Broken Cross” on their 2014 album.
@@havoren they've been doing it for longer than that. They're song Alpha Omega from 2012 has lyrics that criticize religion. Which is a good thing, so many people nowadays still cling to ancient and out-dated beliefs.
+Jake Assimilate
The difference is that it’s not just one or two songs an album, they have to make their ENTIRE album about criticizing religion. Which is fine at first but it gets boring after a while, not that I give a shit about lyrical content in an album or anything. The music itself is the MAIN focus for me.
@havoren Whats your point then? And they don't make entire albums that solely criticize religion. For example, "Gone With The Wind" was written by Tom Searle about his struggle with cancer. "Downfall" is about how we're progressing as a society will eventually lead to our demise. "Gravity" is about showing love and compassion to loved ones before its too late. Those songs are all from the same album. There's many different subjects in their lyrics
Tom still lives through this, that's incredible.
You can hear, that the composition is done by someone else
Im no expert so yes, maybe, but that's not what i meant.
Nick Sevenow totally understand what you’re saying, and I get the feeling the tracks on this album could all be about how the band has dealt with Tom’s passing.
That is what the album is about. They said it’s about the years going through the pain with Tom. It’s going to be a deep album.
@@nicksevenow I know, bruddah. Tom definitely is a Part of this and will always be.

LeafBucket me too. And even if Dan hadn't told us who wrote this song you probably could say that at least was a Tom's unfinished song. It sounds like Tom but with a "Josh vibes". Amazing!
That's really sick. I'm glad to see that Josh can alter his style to fit Architects perfectly. Dude is just a beast of a player.

Architects are one of the few bands out there that consistantly deliver quality products! Loads of people beefing that it doesn't sound that different to their old stuff but on the real...if it ain't broke don't try fix it!
Big love Mikey!
This is how to progress as a band without changing the fan base 🙏
*cough*...Amity affliction..*cough*
This is a far cry from the mathcore they used to write, while they have always maintenance a respectable level of heavy (except the here and now) I think there are two movements of architect's fans the ones who like the first three only and the ones that like every album after there are definitely some that like all of it but they changed alot enough to divide some fans.
hussguy1990 I really really really hate to say it honestly but i think i'm in that old three group. honestly its saddening cuz obviously i get it that with tom passing it wasnt gonna be the exact same but architects were my fav band before, they had they exact metalcore sound that i've always searched for, with the almost never ending breakdowns and style of screaming. I really tried to like this song given how iv always loved architects so much for yea this sound just kinda isn't for me, this isn't the architects that first drew me in. :/ i did like doomsday tho so hopefully there will be other newer songs that im into
@@hussguy1990 I like every single album (some more than others of course).

Sylosis effect is so obvious on the last sick riffs. Band is on another level and for sure Tom is sharing tears of happiness for you guys...Album of the year coming on our faces lads..
It's really audible in the last riffs, especially reminded of this little solo in the end. I'm very happy for the band, especially for Josh, that he was able to fit into this team.
Никита Трубинов As it seems Josh not only fits into the band.He completes them with the hardcore-ish riffs and takes the sound a step further..It seemed like Tom was still playing but you could also feel some different tone..Couldnt be better in my opinion ..These guys are taking metalcore on the next level each fuckin time through easy or hard times..

+Joshua Curiale
Nah, this isn’t a masterpiece at all. You’re right about it not being a bad song, but it sucks ass compared to Lost Forever // Lost Together and even All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us to an extent. It DEFINITELY doesn’t sound close to being as good as Hollow Crown either, it just sounds like a filler song to pad the album time length.
This is your opinion. I believe that Architects have always improved, always making better songs, and this track is one of their best. It's way too emotional and beautiful, and, on my opinion, their old stuff can't top it
+Pierfrancesco Poccianti
This track is pretty simplistic to the point where it does NOTHING to make me feel ANY emotion. Maybe the lyrics hold some water, but the songwriting itself doesn’t. Compared to “The Distant Blue” or “Memento Mori”, this song PALES in comparison in terms of emotion to those tracks. And generally speaking, this song does NOTHING to improve on the Lost Forever // Lost Together sound that they’ve been going for. It’s just a fine song, it’s not a masterpiece and it’s definitely NOT better than their older material. That is a fact that cannot be disputed.
With that being said, I’m glad you love it and I’m happy that you think the band has gotten better. It doesn’t bother me at all that you like their current music, it’s still good music at the end of the day.
@@havoren I don't think what you are saying can be considered a fact. The only fact is that this band has not changed so much his style after the release of LT//LF but, even though I usually hate when a band doesn't change sound on every album, I think that in this case it's fine. Anyway it's all about personal taste: I'm glad as well if you like The Distant Blue or Memento Mori more, they are great masterpieces (just like Doomsday or Hereafter) and I totally understand you and your point.
If you don't know them (but you probably do) check out Currents. If you like Architects, you'll love them for sure
+Pierfrancesco Poccianti
My problem isn’t that they’re changing their sound at all. My problem is that the songwriting pales in comparison to the songwriting off LF//LT with a few key singles being the exception. Yeah, “Doomsday” and “Hereafter” are still good songs but just like Northlane’s Mesmer, I’d rather listen to the first time they did that sound. Because the songs are catchy, more memorable, and don’t sound awkward like the new songs do. Regardless of that, thanks for understanding my feelings and not being a total dick like most people on the internet. And I’ll definitely check out Currents when I get the chance because I’m open to discover new music all the time.
God Damn dude, hearing this and actually listening to his pain is actually super sad.

The moment I heard Hollow Crown and Follow the Water I was hooked!! Since then, their improvement on more mature sound, less uncontrolled growling and gradually interconnecting them with softer vocals made them create a more powerful sound than ever. They are like fine wine. They only get better as they age!
Truth be told.
I remember seeing them in Australia Aug 21 - 2009 - ABR - Parkway and Architects.. what a show. These days i listen to much more ABR and Architects than parkway.. for obvious reasons (for some) glad they are all still pushing it in their own ways. Gladder yet to see Josh from Sylosis killing it in another band..
jesus sam really steps up in terms of vocals on every single
No shit
SAVAGE
The atmosphere this song creates is beyond amazing!
Holy hell. Sam’s vocals are heavenly demonic.
At this point his vocal sound so unreal I can't believe how good this man can be
I’ll describe this with two words: HOLY HELL!!!!
Одна из лучших композиций нашего времени. Спасибо им что создают подобные треки, честное я когда слушал плакал.
I still listen to this song every day, can’t imagine how proud Tom would be of these boys, he certainly did not die in vain, he now lives through their music, been my favourite band since 2007 and they still are to this day ❤️
Sounds like a dark blend of our gods have abandoned us and daybreaker. Really hits the spot, way to go boys!!!!
That's exactly what I thought! Like the strong melodies of daybreaker and the tight production and heavy riffs of the last 2 albums. Really looking forward to the new album!! But at the same time better not expect the album to be a certain way just because of the first single, we will see! :)
sawtoothscream 1 I was hoping that they'd bring back some daybreaker or hollow crown vibes, especially since they started to play more stuff off daybreaker live a while ago.
That would be great, I honestly dont think i can get more hyped for this album.
BMTH could learn a lesson or 2 from these guys. THIS is how you progress as a band without completely alienating the fanbase that got you to where you are.
Mike Charette very TRUE
Or you do what makes you happy, stop being a dick
They went from being a decent metalcore band to being a bunch of *s a d b o i s*
Still theyre living the life they want to and you cant say you wouldnt do the same
mantra slaps
Handsdown their best album.. so much passion & raw emotions... 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
大好きです。一生リスペクします。
This is great. I respect them forever. From Japan. I'm poor at English. Sorry.
But you are great at heart.

Ur english is fine :)
Your English is amazing, I wish you the best of luck in learning it :)

If this is the level, this album is set to be the third masterpiece in a row easily
I tried to do an Italian translation:
Ora che gli oceani si sono prosciugati
Posso risalire per respirare?
Perché sto imparando a vivere senza farlo
Perché sto imparando a vivere senza farlo
Ho passato tempo a sufficienza
Negli abissi più profondi della disperazione
Perché li giù mi sentivo troppo perso per prendermene cura
Non ero preparato per le conseguenze
Non ero preparato per le conseguenze
Ottima traduzione!
grandeeeeee
Its gonna be their best album
@@iralesalskar1615 hope so, I regret not watching their show in Rome
Francesco Antonangeli missed in lyon too
The cinematography here is stunning!
Orion Melody didn’t think I’d be browsing the comments of a Architects video appreciating someone else’s appreciation of the cinematography ahah.
IM CRYING THIS IS PERFECTION
ur telling me its geniune perfection
Love you dude ❤️
Its really hard for me to not roll my eyes when a band starts playing the chorus for the third time these days, expecially in the singles that are ment to get me pumped for the album, architects have always been pretty solid but i feel i liked the way tom would write and structure his songs more
Have listened to this song more than 100 times. It never gets old and what brought me to this band was my buddy. He made me listen to "all our God's have abandoned us". Wasn't really into it but when I heard Josh Middleton was going to be replacing the guitarist (Tom), I immediately got interested in all of their older stuff. I know have a profound understanding and respect to this band and Tom for not letting death get in the way of him creatinh some of the best metal /music material I have ever listened to.
I just wanted to thank Architects for staying heavy and not selling out to bring in more people into their fan base.
Tired of all these bands going soft. Long live architects ! Never change guys, this is incredible!
Christian selling out is different than going soft. Bmth sold out, rise against went soft. There’s a difference.
Zion nope its not BMTH is soft as no other band man. Even some Rock songs on normal raido sound heavier...
I know what you mean. I used to jam to The Color Morale and The Word Alive all the time, but they both became soft.
Amity Afflictions new album is a good example of what you're saying
@@marioruiz230 yes. Yes it is. They became pop-sounding. Love them. Have seen them multiple times. I'm just not a fan of their new album.
Love how they make you feel their emotion through the vocals down to every instrument
I know nothing about this band. But I must declare: this guy is one of the best vocalists in metal.
Oh hell yeah he is, he's one of the most consistent vocalists in this genre and his range is insane. Hear then live and it's even better.
True
This dude and the periphery singer are top fuckin notch
Christian from solution .45 is amazing too
So proud of my fellow humans with their musical ability. So much good music out there, even God would be impressed. We really are living in an important point in time.
Most of us don’t know what kind of person Tom was, I don’t even know what instrument he used to play in the band ! All I know is that there are a bunch of his friends in this band and a real blood brother. And god, we can feel that loss guys !! We can hear the suffering through your music, from a fan of you for more than 10 years now. We love you, and when I say this I speak from the hearts to those who feel me. Thank you, what you do for this world is inspiring, new and kinda revulotionary. Good luck guys ✌🏻❤️
Good message man but, youve been a fan for 10 years and you dont know what instrument tom played?

Alvays been an Architects fan and people will never get why I listen to this music, I lost my dad months ago and this song speaks for my pain very well, lyrics describe so good how I feel every single day since then and help me out to consolidate all my thoughts, rage, and sadness on something like music, Architects have helped me more than any other word people have ever told me, Dad never liked metal, but he'd be happy if he could get to see how this music is helping me a lot to go through all this.
Dear Architects,
As a massive fan of metalcore that has seen countless bands on this genre go soft/go mainstream/sellout and had to swallow every single time that "accept change" pill (which i wont. i dont see a band change for heavier. i dont see a band go wild and do messed up anti-mainstream shit. it's always for the worse. it's always for the softer, more "appealing to the masses" change.), thank you for keeping up and supporting this genre as it should be.
Sincerely yours,
A fan
they have the up most absolute right to change. But every single band changes every single time to the same direction, which is the mainstream direction. That's not change, that's selling out.
Actually Bury Tomorrow have released their heaviest song this year :) And there are enoug bands who change without getting softer. Look at Triviums latest album, its amazing.
I've never heard of Bury Tomorrow :( and I wouldnt say Trivium fits with this situation. Trivium was metalcore for a long time, then got softer and softer and now changed to a more Speed + Heavy Metal. They did get heavier than their previous albuns, but it's still not the heaviest you've heard of em. And most of their new directions were because of the influence of a drummer lineup change that changed quite a few times. And their new album is a lot due to their most recent drummer (which is a fucking monster). Altho, im glad some bands do stuff like that, cause Trivium's last album is mindfucking
Then go check out Bury Tomorrow :D Insane band
Check out Wage war!
At 2:10 the way he says prepare and everything about it is a whole experience it's subtle but I could watch it 1000x
This band is like a perfect mix of all of the metalcore I loved growing up I’m addicted, this is evolution in its highest degree.
The riff at 3:06
Love that bend!
That's a filthy BLEGH mate
hello Slipknot's Eyeless
So in November 2, we have Silent Planet and in November 9 we have Architects.
How could it be better ?
Ok now I know how it could be better : 28 CRYSTAL LAKE !!!
Man you got it
I love living in a world with bands like Silent Planet and Architects
Polaris November 5th if only
Don't forget about new Fit for a King also. This year was insane.
Fit For A King out this friday.
I'll always admire Architects, for their sound is inspiring and hopeful while speaking loud about the deepest despairs of humanity. I wish I had that courage. The courage to look forward.
I WASN'T BRACED FOR THE FALLOUT
*BLEGH!*
TOM WOULD'VE BEEN SO PROUD. THIS IS FLAWLESS!
im listening to this song like 50 times a day
literally!
Non stop listening until today since this song release.

Wilson Don't bring religion into this.
It's retarded
After many years of searching and deliberation, I can say with certainty. this is my most favorite song I have ever heard in my entire existence
I want to express my appreciation not just for the band but also to the engineers who mixed and mastered this record cuz I don't think I've EVER heard such a beautiful post production work in ANY metal band like this one right here
i love how this album goes through the stages of grief 10/10 masterpiece
i got worried that there weren’t any blerghs luckily the blergh came and i enjoyed the song
Start a band called "luckily the blegh came".

So here I am, absolutely blown away and amazed by this.
I used to listen to Architects like seven years ago, during the time when "These Colors Don't Run" was released. Now I found them again. And what the hell? These guys are still nailing it, Sam is absolutely fantastic and the music is so good too. Ok, now I have to see them live soon. Wow. ♥
“Some things are broken beyond repair.” What a bar
Yup architects is making metalcore great again
Architects never stopped being great again, so I don't know what you are talking about
ReXo Reflects He's talking about the genre in a whole not Architects
samuel sanchez What? There's been great metalcore albums that was released 2016-2017
Lightning6475
NOPE! All shit! You want great metalcore albums, go back to 2014!
Yeah, architects aren't what I would call metal core.. They're too technical to be lumped in with that category.
I just lost my Grandma yesterday morning, so this song hits me in a whole new way.
it's helping me more than you'll ever know.
So thank you Architects
