I've seen Shawn Colvin a few times and was always blown away. She's an amazing guitar player. Listen for the muting and at all the hammer-on's! She makes a 'C and G chord' sound great!
This is as good as it gets. I’ve seen Shawn close to 40 times since April ‘88 at the Somerville Theater, but I’m sorry that I missed this show! A superb recording of an artist in one of her finest moments.
I’m happy to read there was an upside, Shawn. May you be well/healthy and happy now. Thanks for posting this show. (Side note: I wish we were as respectful at shows here in the states. I often hear too much chatter from audience members during quiet sets like this).
Oh, baby!! I'd love to see this out on a bluray disc!! I'd buy it in a heartbeat!! I can't even imagine the quality of the sound in that venue??? ~Frank
Been a fan for ages - Saw the Beacon Theater show in 1998(?) the year A FEW SMALL REPAIRS won the Grammy. Steuart Smith & John Lenthal on guitars - Just about the best show I have ever seen (and I've seen many!). When Shawn Pelton joined for the encores, it blew the roof off the hall! Thanks Shawn C... you're a national treasure.
This show is pure magic, and I enjoyed every minute of it last night. Your playing and singing were brilliant, as always. Thank you so much for posting this!
I've been a huge fan since just before Fat City was released, so 32 years....! I pray itll be released on vinyl soon. It missed out on the anniversary treatment...gutted!!
We saw and enjoyed you around ten times over the years. Wouldn't mind to see you another ten times. All the best to you. By the way, I hope that Fat City will be released on vinyl one day. I even think that we saw you in Cologne around this time at the Prime Club or Luxor (same venue which changed its name for a while).
This takes me back!!! I saw you years ago at a very small theater in Door County WI, Something happened with your guitars, like the airline had lost them... so a call went out for guitar stores to bring you some for the show... My buddy and I brought a couple up from Green Bay for your considerations. You didn't use them, but we got to meet you and got to see you play an intimate show just like this one!!! Thank you for sharing!!! This is awesome!!!
Ah, The Paradiso. I was but a young girl of 18 when I traveled on my own to Amsterdam and visited this club one summer night in the early 1970's. I heard about this club and took the tram from my hotel Lots of young people my age and some in their 20's. I don't think anyone well known was performing (or anyone I knew of) but I do remember sitting on the floor, a large stage there and many different performers, from folk to folk/rock were performing that night. Many people smoking pot around me (I was not though), but it was a large room, dark and no seats. No one standing, just everyone sitting on the hard wood floor for hours. I remember hearing some great singers that night. It was a fun and memorable evening for an 18 year old girl....so long ago and far away.
Awesome! Thanks Shawn! Oh wow, I wasn’t done watching and the “awesome” seems tepid now! Ricochet in Time! Holy smokes! And are you kidding me, Killing The Blues?!?! Hurts, with our John now gone.
Glad to have found this concert. Beautiful venue and you sound amazing as ever. I wish you’d come to the UK more. Yes i think that audience were very lucky that night. And yes, we can hear the healing process happening right in those songs. Very moving and such a pleasure to hear the songs stripped back to their essence.
Oh we are so fortunate this concert was filmed, that you found such and chose to post. Each time I have seen you in concert (home in Toronto 🇨🇦 or just state-side), I have been moved and left 'filled up' Shawn!! I loved your "30ieth Anniversary Steady On'' album release and tour that went a bit longer with covid. You are quite the singer-songwriter, musician and guitarist not to mention a dear and honest soul!! 🙏 😊 🧡 🇨🇦 🍁
I truly have been touched by an angel who bared her pain and opened herself up to herself .. for her self-healing - the power of community and communication and soulful communion - it’s an astonishing repertoire and a testament to how deeply your beautiful music affects you and intimately connects with others Shawn - I lived in NYC in those halcyon days too - was a blessing and a joy - met my wife and she met me -did I find her or she find me as Mr Bryne said ., The last time I saw you was the Steady On tour at the Kentucky Center for the Arts a lil bit ago - you were brilliant - one last thing - your mini gigs from your home during the pandemic kept many of us somewhat sane and grounded & thank you for them - Happy Thanksgiving ❤
Having that one-hit wonder can be so double-sided. On the one hand, it catapults you to worldwide success. On the other hand, you are relegated to singing it a million times for the rest of your life. As a fan, I LOVE it. For her, probably not so much.
@@Lat41 He's referring to Sunny came home, I'm sure, and he's probably right. Unfortunately the music business being the way it is... I can think of three or four songs Just from her first album that should be well known including one of my favorites which she just completed, Riding Shotgun Down The Avalanche. That should be a very recognizable song to anyone who considers themselves a fan.
Wow! What a gift to see this. Thanks.
Simple. Beautiful. Touching. Comforting. Thanks for posting.
I’ve been a fan for over thirty years, and Shawn still sounds so magical.
My god. Guitar and voice: Tone, tone and TONE! Just perfection.
This concert is magic
Wow! Thank you for sharing this with us ❤

She is so great, the song, the voice, and yes the guitar.
Release this as an album. I would buy it twice!
Lovely in every way. 👏❤️

She is truly wonderful
Shawn is so " at one" with her guitar. Perfect delivery.

Wow what a nice surprise we get to listen to this concert - love from Sweden!
I truly regret missing this concert in Paradiso. But thanks so much for sharing it here. Your music inspired me to pick up the guitar. 🙏

The truth is I personally don't consider Sunny came home as one of her best, only the one they decided to promote the hardest.
@@richardboettger6761Agreed. Both Polaroids and A Matter of Minutes cut deeper, along with several others.
