The driver's seat back on our 300SD will not move forward and the seat bottom will not move down. I tear into this switch and also do a little troubleshooting on the wiring harness. Along they way I find what appears to be a service manual wiring documentation error.

Don’t even have electric seats in my W126, but still watching it anyway!😂
Lucky! I have many times wishes for a mechanical window/seat, manual transmission W126!
edit; for a long time I ran a retrofit manual window in the front two doors of my Federal 300sd
🤣
You are a brave man, you embarked into the black magic of MB seat control of the 1980’s…
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
🤣
It’s funny I need to do this to my 84, thank you for the walk through.
I've been out of the country for a few months so I have a whole bunch of videos to make up for. And Rick is starting off already in the first one I'm watching. I think a drone attack is overdue... 😏😏😏
🤣
Omg. 7th level of hell right there!!!😂
🤣
I had the same issues with the controls for power seats on my w124. When those ball bearings fell out of the switch I thought I had screwed up. I said a few choice word’s also. I had to clean all the contacts as you did and the switch worked perfectly. It’s amazing the engineering that the Germans put into these cars. I also had issues with my headrest going up and down. Turned out to be the control box under the seat. Thats probably your problem. Also the color coded diagram on the connector is ‘golden’. They thought of everything.
Sounds like I'm pulling the seat out again. Arg!!
It’s definitely the seat controller below. That’s the brain of the whole operation. Sends voltage to the controller on the door. For some reason the memory controls screw everything up when they go flewy. Why I enjoy the years prior to the memory function, never have any issues. Recommend getting a good used seat controller and swap it out.
Thank you! I will make that my next step!
Magnífico trabajo. Muchas gracias
I had a similar problem with mine. I think it's the cable tip popped out of the motor. Easy fix but have to remove the front seat to fix it.
I would love to have a service manual 😊

@ImpalamansGarage thank you kindly 🙏 ☺️
The knob that was broken is for the headrest to move up and down. Just a guess.
Yeah that's probably right. This car did not come with that feature so there is no space for a switch on the control pad. I guess it is a place holder.
@@ImpalamansGarage I agree.
thinking the same thing
So how do you raise the headrest then? Manually?
@ronstjohn6780
Manually headrest model. Nothing wrong with that.
That’s a complicated switch. I’ve had several apart, but nothing with even close to that many separate components. That’s the German way, fight? Still the problems are similar, arcing or corrosion stops the current flow.
Right not fight!
I think I've still got problems under the seat. That's for another day.
