Take all the disgusting foods aside, we can't deny that Jenny is an amazing cook. All of that only took her 1 day ( to all of you don't know, gelatin need to be chill in the fridge), her fridge must be stuffed with those things and her kitchen must be a mess. And the accuracy of her creations to the pictures is incredible.

The reason why jellied dishes gained popularity back then was due to economy as well. Having to set jelly in summer means that you have a fridge, which wasn't cheap. So the item became a status symbol and the fad transformed into a cultural phenomenon.
That's so fascinating! Never would've thought that a fridge was once a symbol for status. Considering everyone has one nowadays. It's like how no one thought that seat belts would catch on when they were first pitched, but now they're mandatory in every car for safety regulations. History is so cool.
I suddenly realised that in every Tom and Jerry cartoon fridge there is a jelled dish. I thought that was just to show them bouncing on it, but really it was a staple in each house with a fridge then.
Yes! And people from the 50s likes to hold dinners, which explains why most of the jellied food look bright and festive. It's for the fun and compliments you know haha

This was a GREAT episode. My daughter and I thought it would be good to do this with some other dishes in the decades that Ollie's mom and/or dad grew up in and have them taste them and talk about what they grew up eating. I grew up in the 50's and this gave me a lot of talking points to share with my daughter about what we ate growing up (and yes, jello was a staple for either a salad with the meal or a dessert afterwards). Let's see more of this in other decades going all the way up to now.
Sounds like my family..my Bro's born in 50's and me in the 60's had a Midwestern upbringing, which involved Many Family, Church and Social gatherings ALWAYS Had PLENTY of Jell-O dishes!! Thank God they were Mostly Salad or Fruit types, and NOT Meat/Fish dishes jellied Together..😉😁👌👌🙏😳😱💕

I liked the cute smiling fish. It could totally be made with a different, more modern recipe (minus the jelly) and be fun and tasty at a party. I grew up in the 60's, and my aunt, who was kind of mid-century fancy, used to make a lime Jello/cottage cheese salad. She'd puree the cheese with mayo and cream cheese, so it didn't have the unfortunate texture, then mix in pineapple. I remember it as being pretty tasty.
My Grandma had molds to make those kinds of dishes. The fish mousse mold, she'd line w/ small cucumber slices then pack the fish salad in. When you unmolded it, it looked like it had scales. The pineapple was 2 halves that Grandma would line w/ black olive slices, pack the mousse into and put the 2 halves together. When it was unmolded, she'd score the outside and it would look like a pineapple. It didn't taste very good, but looked fabulous.
I would have loved to see a montage of Jenny cooking these things. I can only imagine her thoughts on these. I would have loved to see her face when Ollie proposed her cooking these and her reading the recipes.

My grandma used to make something on holidays she called " moldy jelly". It's lime jello, cottage cheese and crushed pineapple all mixed together. It was surprisingly good. (Yes,she got married in the 1950s)
My family has made a similar dish, with those same ingredients also with cherries, coconut shavings, and pecans, whipped cream and sometimes they made it with raspberry jello or a red one, can’t remember now. It took me a hella long time to even try it cuz I do not like cottage cheese at all. I have to have other flavors and textures to cover or overpower it before I can eat it. Lol forgot what we called it tho… ima go ask my mom.
As a kid in the 60s we had jello at least once a week. Pear in lime jello. Apricot in orange. Fruit cocktail in strawberry jello. As kids our favorite was what we called glass jello. It was all different jellos cubed and mixed with real whip cream. A real treat.

I'm watching old Jolly videos and OMG, this one is a GEM.
Ollie is probably changing the channel's name to Jelly instead of Jolly...
Jenny made the food and when she's in a video they do call themselves Jelly, so it fits 😁😊
한국어와 영어자막 같이 나오는 것 보면서 영어공부하고 있었는데 요즘에 자막이 안나와서
안타까워요ㅜㅜ
다시 만들어주세요~~~~~~!!!
The guy at the end was REALLY good, can't stop replaying that part!
Oh thank you so so much
the tomato gelatin, used to be known as aspic in the US, not sure if the ingrediencies are the same. great idea for a video, you guys crack me up. Kudos to your friend who labored so hard to make these recipes.
Props to Jenny she did so well on these recipes! Here’s a good idea, maybe try and give that recipe to Gabbie and see what she can do to make it as gourmet as possible?
