Lori, as a plus sized woman, I have the fat wardrobe, the medium and the thin. As a Canadian, I have a winter wardrobe, a spring, a fall and a summer wardrobe. Now many of the items such as jeans and t-shirts are virtually identical except for size, I grant you, and my seasonally appropriate closet is well organized. Fortunately, I prefer classic clothes rather than fast fashion so things don't go out of style quickly. What I have an issue with is the theory that if you haven't worn something in a year, discard it. I haven't gone anywhere since Covid began so why would I chuck out perfectly good cashmere sweaters, silk blouses, cardigans, blazers, lined wool trousers, leather jackets, pumps or occasion wear? When my life can restart safely, those items will get serious use once more. When I retired, I got rid of most of my office attire and then the funerals started and I could have used those silk blouses and wool or linen trousers. I could seriously kick myself for that.
I'm in the same boat, on every point. I just started clearing out my thin clothes. I've been trying to get back into them for 30 years, and I finally accepted that it's just not happening.
@@edennis8578 I am certainly not the size I was 30 years ago either! And....that is absolutely ok. You still deserve to feel fantastic about your look every single time you get dressed! I appreciate you being here - thank you! 🌻
Hi Sharon - I found my love for sweaters when I was living in St. Louis a few years ago. I'm not in St. Louis anymore - but I still love them. It's great to see you - thank you for visiting 🌻
I'm about to do a closet clean out. I'm strictly going for natural fibers. Not trying to wear plastic materials anymore. This helps eliminate a good portion of items. Your video helps with the sentimental clothing I like to hang on too. I won't be able to get rid of all, but will most definitely eliminate some items. So, that's a start. P.s. I too love sweaters and I'm a ga peach, but I still wear em'! Many blessings.
Thank you, you make so much sense. I should of cleaned out my closet like 2 years ago, but it's just such an overwhelming task. Now I'm just gonna go through stuff, one shelf at a time :)
One shelf at a time will get you there so much faster than you would think it would. I love this idea! Thanks so much for being here with me - I appreciate you 🌻
Your common sense approach is on fire with this video! I LOLd on the "maybe I don't want to try the maybes on....no, I don't want to try the maybes on! Especially after that Mexican meal the night before." :) I"m adopting the maybe box, and perhaps one more add on, knowing me. If it's my timeframe and I haven't gotten into it, I'm not going to sneak a peak...I think I just need to seal and send away. Thanks for this great approach. 5 Stars!
You are so right Lori. While you were telling us the way you declutter your wardrobe I had a niggling little guilty feeling. I know my wardrobe is way overdue for a clean out, I know I should just take a look, at my Tshirts perhaps, and that day take one or two out. Yes, I must do this. A very timely reminder for me, thank you. I must get a move along! Should I have a motive? hmmm, well, if I get rid of the clothes I don't wear I can get some more that I will wear. It's coming into summer here now and I have way more summer clothes than winter clothes. Your way will eliminate the horror of doing it.
It doesn't need to be overwhelming. Now might be a good time to start thinning out the winter stuff - but only if you want to 😉 I appreciate you being here with me - thank you 🌻
Valuable advice IF you have space to “hold onto” or “maybe” stash. A 600 sq ft home requires me to toss, donate, and only keep the things that I love. Good for you that you can keep, keep, keep!
Hi Clare - you are right! There is not room for maybe in many spaces. We will be downsizing considerably (around 650 sq ft) in a few years and it is already on my mind. I appreciate you being here with me - thank you 🌻
I’m a Gulf coast gal who lived in the northeast for many years, so I too love cozy soft sweaters. Plus I’m a crocheter so love to make hats, scarves, etc.
I started my wardrobe journey last year. Where I live PNW we have four seasons. I've been going through and removing and replacing items, working towards my style that can mix and match and hopefully carry through the seasons. I have found I constantly have a box going for items that just don't work. This does make the closet cleaning process not so overwhelming 😅
oh gosh, I'm a tag cutter also! I cannot stand the way tags feel and I don't feel like it's actually mine with a tag on it. I know that last part is weird, but I just don't like to see them on my clothes.
Hi Lori I have just had my colour season done and its a game changer. I am now enjoying going through my closet and seeing what really suits me the most. Bonus !! i can wear pink, so thats a revelation for me and I am looking forward to bringing some into my clothing collection.
Sensible advice. I too keep items I haven’t worn in a year, especially a couple of special occasion wear. No one’s gotten married in the past two years so I haven’t worn either of my “wedding dresses “ but since they fit, look good and are still in style, I’m not getting rid of them. I know darn well that as soon as I do that, a wedding invitation will appear in 5he mail and I’ll be scrambling to buy something.😅
I struggle with my clothing storage of "smaller me" clothes. It would be nice to let it go, but i'd like to get back to my smaller size and then i would enjoy wearing those pieces again. But space is limited so it seems like a waste just to store clothes I cant wear.

I'm in north Texas, but originally from the Chicago area. Even though I usually do not get cold enough to wear sweaters, I still buy them anyway😊

I’m in Alabama and my favorite clothes are sweaters and COATS!! Doesn’t get cold enough for me to wear the heavy coats too often.
Lori, love your positive, practical advice. 🤗♥️
I appreciate you being here with me 💖

I love that maybe box approach, i often find I open up the box half a year later and I've shifted my style and some pieces are perfect!
No reason to be in a hurry to get rid of a maybe right away 😉 I appreciate you being here with me - thank you 🌻
Wonderful information. I love your closet.
Thank you 🤗 I appreciate you being here with me 🌻

yay! A fellow box girl 💗 Thank you for being here with me 🌻
Hi Lori like always another helpful video. One rule I have if I buy a new item I throw one out I know I'll never wear. Take care.
Hi Maureen - I love the "one in - one out" idea. Unfortunately I don't find myself sticking to it.... 🤷🤷🏻
New subscriber here. I love your easy, stress free style!
Thank you Pegggyo - we are going to be great friends - welcome! 🌻

Yay! I LOVE to wear pink! I appreciate you being here with me - thank you 🌻
I loved all your advice! I need to take my 2 sacks of donate clothes to The Well. It has been a maybe pile for about 9 months,
Take it tomorrow if you can. You don't need any of it anymore 😉 Thank you so much for being here with me 🌻
Great advice cheers 🐨🙏
Thanks! I appreciate you stopping in Bishka 💖

I have been there! I finally let go of all the "smaller me" stuff because I wanted and needed the room. Funny how I don't miss those things at all 🌻
